Chapter 15, Rose's POV (And Percy's POV [tee hee]), The Chase

Rose's POV

That night when I went to bed, I didn't have the same dream as before. That was sort of refreshing, considering the last dream was driving me crazy. It was nice for a change of scenery.

During this dream, I was with my sister once again, but she was no longer in peril. She was on a bus. She looked different, too; much more happy. She had cleaned up somewhere and she was wearing a new set of clothes different from the ones in previous dreams. Her face was and hands were clean so she must've stopped to wash up at a sink somewhere, and her hair was in a pony tail. Her backpack seemed heavier, so she must've gotten new stuff, and around her waist were celestial bronze weapons. How did she get those?

I used my dream powers to look inside of her bag. Inside of it I saw clothes, water, trail mix, ambrosia squares, a canteen (most probably full of nectar), some cash, and strangely, a pamphlet for the hunters of Artemis. That's probably where she got the weapons and the extra supplies. The expression on her face was no longer terrified, but determined, and she seemed to have a glow of hope around her. How I knew that is strange to me, but I was happy that she was better.

I was relieved that she was no longer in danger, and I hoped she was on her way to camp. However, there was a chance that coming to camp was a bad thing, considering they may think she's a spy too, but I would rather have her safe and ridiculed than constantly in danger and free from judgement. I just had to ask, "Where are you, Amanda? Where are you going?" of course she couldn't hear me, and I woke up feeling disappointed.

Percy's POV

I couldn't stop thinking about last night. For one thing, I fought a real life bronze dragon and a bunch of fire ants next to Sileana, Annabeth, and Beckendorf, but also, Annabeth asked me out. However, no matter how awesome last night was, I got the feeling that the new girl, Rose, knew it was going to happen. The last thing she said before she ran off was, "Maybe tonight will be unexpected for the both of us." I probably shouldn't think much of it, but still...

The next morning at breakfast I glanced over at the Hermes table where Rose was sitting. She looked pretty normal, eating her food joyfully. However, once and a while she would glance over at me to see if I was looking. I would then turn away to remove suspicion. She was expecting me to be curious about what she said, I would have to think. I wanted to ask her about it last night, but didn't feel comfortable asking her with Beckendorf right beside me. I figured, I would wait until we were alone to ask her what was up.

Everyone thought she was a spy, but I don't know what to think. She just arrived here, how would anyone be a traitor that fast. Yet, she knew everyone's names, and her way around pretty well, and she knew about the dragon, at least I think she did. Maybe the enemy got to her first and forced her to spy on us. I know there's a spy here, it might be very possible that she's a spy too. I don't want to believe it, but it's becoming very likely.

At free period, I figured I would catch her, and then I'd ask her about what she meant.

Rose's POV

I had gone through the whole day so far without being cornered by Percy to explain last night. It was bad enough he knew my name now, but not only that he was looking for me. This couldn't get any worse, could it? Nope, this was fine. I had sacrificed a muffin to Zeus praying that Percy would drop it, I just had to spend all of free period in the Hermes cabin where Percy won't be able to find me and I'll be home free.

I started to walk towards Hermes cabin, looking around frantically to see if I was being followed. When I noticed no one was watching I started to run. While running, I saw a figure bolt in my direction, and I tried picking up speed. Unfortunately, this was year one for me, and for him it was three. He cut me off and stopped me in my tracks.

"Hey, do you got a minute?" Percy asked me,

"Percy, I don't have time right now." I lied, and then I looked over his shoulder and called out, "Hey, Annabeth!" When he turned to see where I was looking I bolted for Hermes cabin. Standing in the door way to the cabin was Travis and Conner, do those two ever go anywhere without one another? "Travis, Conner, do me a favor. You never saw me, alright?"

"What's in it for us?" One of them asked,

"I'll remove the curse on you." I offered,

"And?"

"I'll never curse you again."

"And?"

"You can have my dessert for a month."

"And?"

"I'll do your share of the chores."

"And?"

"I'll let you prank me all you want."

"And?"

"I'll give you ten bucks."

"And?"

"What else do you want?!"

"Nothing, we were just seeing how far you would go. Alright, deal." Said Travis, I think.

I let out a groan of frustration and went inside.

Percy

I turned to look for Annabeth, and there she was coming down the hill. Surely she was too far away to hear Rose call her, but still.

"Hey, Annabeth!" I called, she looked up and came over to me, and I turned around to see that Rose had left. I cursed under my breath. It was such an obvious distraction. Annabeth made it over to me, "Hey Percy, what's up?" she said,

"Nothing much," I told her, "I just wanted to talk to the new girl, Rose, about something she said to me last night, but she keeps avoiding me." For a split second Annabeth seemed to question the situation, but then she shrugged it off. "What did she say?" she asked me,

"Last night, I went to give her pep talk so she wouldn't feel so down about the whole camp hating on her for being a spy-"

"-A supposed spy." Annabeth corrected,

"Right, a supposed spy, but as soon as I came over it was like she shooed me away, saying, 'maybe tonight will be unexpected for the both of us' and running off. Then later-"

"We fought off a dragon and some Myrmekes?"

And you asked me out, I added mentally, "Yeah."

"It's impossible to know that was going to happen, no one can see the future except the oracle, and she's in the attic."

"Yeah, but still..."

"If you want, I'll help you find her."

"That'd be great, do you have any idea where she might've went?"

"She might be in the Hermes cabin." She suggested as if it was obvious. At that moment, Travis and Conner walked by, "Hey guys, have you seen Rose?"

"Nope, never seen her, but did you know she put a curse on us?"

"Weird, right, I mean, we're likable people, what'd we ever do to her?"

"Well, we did prank her once and she kind of freaked out."

"How's that our fault, who doesn't like a good prank?"

"I know, right? And another thing..." their voices faded as they walked away.

"So who knows where she is?" I suggested,

"Wait a minute...they said they just found out about that, how would they find out unless-" Annabeth wondered

"—She ran into them and told them herself?" I offered,

"Exactly!"

"We must be on the right track."

"Let's go!"

Rose

I was hiding in Hermes cabin; no one suspected anything in the slightest...until Percy knocked on the door. "Ahh!" I screamed as a knocking was heard throughout the girls side of the cabin. One of the other campers rolled their eyes and went over to open the door. Sure enough, it was Percy...and surprisingly, Annabeth. Funny, I thought I made that excuse up.

"Is Rose in there?" Percy asked,

"Sure," the female camper said, "Rose?" she said calling back to me, instantly everyone's heads in the cabin turned to face me. I gulped as I took the walk of shame towards the door. I shied away from the door frame, "Umm... I'm not available at the moment, please come back later."

"Of course you're available, otherwise you wouldn't be able to answer the door." Annabeth said,

"Alright, you caught me." I said stepping into the door frame hands up in surrender,

"We want to know what you meant when you said what you did last night." Percy said,

"Well...you're going to have to be more specific, I don't exactly remember everything I said last night." I said walking out the door and into the clearing,

"The thing you said to me last night." Percy said,

"You mean, 'I ditched it' I meant I dropped it and kept running." I told him playing dumb,

"No, the other thing." He said getting annoyed,

"Oh, that thing, what do you want to know?" At that moment I had made a great amount of distance away from them and started to run for it. They were close behind. At that moment I thanked my sister for years of her chasing me throughout the house, it was great practice for this moment.

While running, I spotted the rock climbing wall and decided to climb it as a way to escape my pursuers. While climbing, I thought to myself, I've got to find an ally. Travis and Conner were obviously not reliable enough which means they are not getting ten bucks, my dessert, my service to do their chores, curse removed, and the next time they prank me they will meet their doom. Ooh, Greg's an ally, I can always rely on him. I've just got to find him.

At that moment I made it to the top, and I took a moment to enjoy my victory...before realizing I was being followed and continued to climb down again. Once at the bottom once again, I ran to the strawberry fields. I saw Greg using his growth-plant-magic on the plants when I was at the top of the wall.

Once I made it over I skidded to a stop and I shouted, "Greg! I need your help"

"Why do you need my help?" he asked confused,

"You've got to hide me!" I shouted frantically,

"Slow down! Why do I need to hide you?"

"I may have sort-of, kind-of, maybe accidentally let it slip to Percy a little bit of information about his future last night, and now he's curious to know more!"

"You did what?!"

"I said, 'maybe' but now he won't let it go, so I need you to hide me before I let more slip!"

Off in the distance, we heard, "There she is!" and I squeaked,

He sighed and said, "Hit the dirt!" Immediately I was on the ground, Greg played his pipes and the vines created a canopy over me for me to crawl under.

"Crawl!" He whispered, "I'll distract them."

I didn't know which way to crawl, so I figured I'd just go straight. Unfortunately, crawling on your belly isn't very fast, but I tried the best I could.

"Greg, did you see Rose?"

"No, just strawberries."

"I really need to talk to here."

"How come?"

"It's about something she said."

"Maybe I could clarify."

"She said something about things being unexpected."

Greg sighed with relief, "Oh, she was probably being hopeful, she does that a lot."

"Really, well... did you notice anything weird about her Greg?"

"No, not really." Greg lied,

"Really, nothing at all?"

"Nope."

"Well, thanks, I'll go check somewhere else, see if I can find her."

"No problem, Percy." Greg called back, once Percy was gone, Greg used his nature magic to let me out from underneath the canopy of vines.

"Thanks Greg, I owe you one."

"No problem to you either," Greg responded, "You've got to be more careful with what you say from now on though."

"Yeah, I know."

"What do you mean 'be more careful'?" said a voice out of nowhere; suddenly Annabeth was in front of me with a baseball cap in her hands. The sight was so startling I had to jump back with surprise. "Well, it could mean anything really, why get into details? That's a cool hat, may I try it on?"

"No."

"Why not? I mean, I love baseball caps, I kind of have a collection, but never have I seen an actual Yankee's cap, being from Canada and all." I snatched the cap from her hand, "I promise I'll be really careful with, and I'll give it right back."

"No!"

Too late, I had put it on my head, and made a dash for it through camp and out of her reach. It was a little cruel, but hey, I did not want to have to explain myself to Annabeth who could probably figure it out. I've meddled enough as it is.

A/N: Hey Everyone! Long time no see! I know I've been on Rose lately, but not a lot is going on at Amanda's side, so I figured you wouldn't want to hear about it. Hey, the next chapter might be Rose as well. It was interesting throwing Percy in there, did it make this story better, or worse? Did anyone else notice how the amount of chapters was condensed? Neat, eh? Anyway, any further ideas on whom their parent is? Tell me in the review section! See you all soon!
