The True Master of the Smash Brothers part 16
"Battle of Mystery,"
"So…how do we know if this thing even works?" Falco asked incredulously as he watched. ROB was currently placing his telepathic jammers on each trophy of the Original 12. The devices were in the shape of badges similar to Dedede's timed badge design since they had to work with the equipment they had access to. However, instead of the penguin king's visage they were shaped in the symbol of Sonic's head, black, and it has stars placed on it like the backdrop of space. It stands as the insignia of Team Sonic Universe.
"The obvious answer is that we have to test it Falco," Marth answered.
"Only way we can do that is to…wake em up," Wario pointed out.
"Exactly,"
"Well nothing ventured nothing gained we may as well see if it works. We don't need to activate all of them, just one will be fine," Olimer said walking over to the Origianls to see which one he is going to choose. "We should also pick one of them that we know we can actually handle should they turn," he added. After looking at and considering all the possibilities the group decided that they would wake up Ness. Though one of the more powerful of the Originals because of his PSI, he is not the most skilled of them or experienced. He is also still just a kid so holding him down shouldn't be too much of an issue. Olimer did the honors of tapping the base for a golden light to overpower everyone's eyes for a few moments until it faded away to reveal Ness. He was dazed as he sat up rubbing his head.
"Ow…man do I have a headache…and I'm kinda sore," Ness gripped. He looked around realizing that he's out of trophy form again. His eyes turned stern forward expecting to see Lucas and scold him for awakening him again. However, all he saw was the short scientist Olimer. "O-Olimer…you woke me up?"
"Yes I did, we needed a test subject,"
"Test subject?" Ness questioned not really liking Olimer's word choice.
"Basically, we were seeing if ROB's thingie might work," Popo said crouching down next to Ness. Ness looked at Popo with a raised eyebrow, so Popo pointed to the badge on Ness' chest. The object was pulsating with a strange light from the looks of it.
"TELEPATHIC NULLFICIATION BADGES ARE NOW ACTIVE. SIGNAL IS BEING BLOCKED INCREASING CHANCES OF NOT BEING MANIPULATED TO 98.83%," ROB announced to everyone.
"Wow…so…that means he can't control me?" Ness asked his voice filled with slight hope.
"If it works like it's supposed to yes it should. But we're gonna just keep you awake for a little while till we can figure out if it really works or not," King Dedede announced as the penguin walked over. "But it's good to have you back kiddo!" Dedede roughly pat Ness on the head making the boy feel like he was gonna be crushed.
"Easy there big guy," Ike said lifting Dedede's arm giving Ness much needed relief. Ness sighed and was still happy that he had control of his body. It almost felt foreign to him being able to move of his own accord. Ness saw the rather small gathering of Smashers there and realized that eleven others were missing. He suspected something was off when his blonde friend was not the first face he saw.
"What's going on?" Ness asked everyone present.
"Well we're here holding down the fort until the others get back from their mission. Hopefully it is going well," Marth explained.
"Wait," Ness shot to his feet. "You mean, they all went off to fight Omni….but most of the Smashers are right here!"
"Don't sweat it Ness, with Lucas' powers he'll have taken Omni down and saved the day before ya know it," Popo said confidently with his hands on his hips.
"No…it's already happening…" Ness' face fell into a look of great despair. Everyone was rightfully perturbed by this look seeing as eleven of some of the most capable fighters in the universe are out on the battlefield. Although many of them wished to join them, they were forced to keep this post.
"You know something we don't Ness?" Ike asked.
"Lucas can't be out there, he just can't be!" Ness exclaimed. "We have to do something we have to go save Lucas!"
"What's wrong with Lucas?" Nana asked.
"The power…it's a double edge sword. It forces his mind and body to evolve in order to compensate for it. The more he relies on it the faster the change occurs until it'll corrupt him or destroy him from the inside out!"
"So that's why…" Popo gasped in realization.
"That's why what?" Ness asked.
"He…looked so sick…like…he wouldn't eat or sleep or anything. He said the power kept him going…but maybe it wasn't that,"
"Omni has been using him…this entire time?" Falco questioned.
"Then does that mean that the one advantage we had was never really an advantage?" Peach asked fearfully.
"Even worst then that…it means they're walking into a trap," Marth growled.
The eleven members of Team Sonic Universe were pressing forward at a frighteningly fast rate. Although they all were very clearly outnumbered and almost totally overrun, they kept close to one another, and kept moving toward the twisted Smash Castle. Sonic bulldozed his way through a large portion of enemies using his sonic spin attack after being launched by Bowser. A few enemies formed a line and unleashed a stream of fire at the group to halt them. Lucas suddenly stepped forward with his hands raised he forced the flames to converge into a sphere in front of him. He waved his arm to turn the sphere into a large crescent wave that torched the ground as it moved forward burning all enemies in its path while also clearing the way. The team cheered as they kept moving dodging spears, energy blast, fire blast, fist, and other forms of attacks the ghost warriors and Primids could produce. After clearing most of the crowd suddenly a large behemoth stood in their way of passing through the gate to reach the front lawn of the castle. The brute was large, standing 8ft. tall in height, and massive muscles all over its body. It let out a roar that sounded like pure rage given a voice.
"I'll remove him," Lucas volunteered. Lucas stepped forward and at seeing him being challenge up front the behemoth raised one of its massive fist then brought it down toward Lucas. Lucas however merely raised one hand to catch and stop the fist. The beast was growling as it was struggling to crush Lucas who was holding the massive arm with mere indifference. Lucas held out his other arm then in a flash of light the ghost warrior vanished into dust.
"Wow, he's getting really good at this…" Sonic muttered to which the entire team nods in agreement. After their ah-ha moment the team realized that the rest of the army was about to get their second wind if they kept stalling. Everyone quickly entered onto the front lawn of the castle and moved quickly toward the entrance to the castle. The gate closed on its own accord as the team entered the into the castle. Lucario glanced back standing in the doorway to see the gates closed and the army that was running after them previously stand stock still. Lucario's image of the scene was cut off as the doors to the castle closed as well. Lucario blinked in confusion for a moment. "Hey Lu!" Sonic called. Lucario turned the rest of the team farther ahead. "Something wrong?"
"I don't know…" Lucario responded as he turned away from the door then began walking. Despite the outside looking pretty much the same except the color change, the inside was drastically changed. Usually after entering the castle one would be in the foyer where practically all rooms in the castle are connected to. However, after entering they are in a hallway with gold tiles and white walls with gold trim on them. Everyone looked at each other confused for a few moments then looked forward to see the hallway was much longer than what the outside gave off. They decided that the only option was to keep moving forward.
"Wow…this is a big contrast to what's outside," Zelda pointed out.
"We can discuss his choice in décor at a later time princess," Gannondorf said disregarding her statement.
"Bad guys…I don't think I'll ever understand their tastes," Sonic said with a shrug.
"It's a symbolism of how things are not always as they seem. That even the most sinister of people could have the best of intentions at heart. A heart of gold in a sense," Lucas explained.
"Okay…still kinda weird," Toon Link said eyeing Lucas curiously.
"Besides, doesn't hurt to catch our breath after all that. Everyone still in one piece?" Snake asked. Everyone responded with an affirmative response to his question. "Now, we're in the belly of the beast, we need a plan,"
"I thought we were just gonna go in guns blazing?" Wolf asked.
"That was the beginning, right now we have to be tactical. We've been expected, and the castle's interior design is foreign to us now so there goes one advantage we had. We have to find Omni, and prevent him from ever crossing over to our plane permanently,"
"What about the Hands?" Sonic asked.
"We'll get to them when we can,"
"Wow, that's cold," Pit said.
"Worry about saving them after we save ourselves. Can't save anyone if we're all stuck as trophies or dead," Meta Knight stated.
"Can't you sense him Lucario?" Bowser asked.
"The aura in this place is…quite distorted. I can't see much anything. We're in Omni's world right now…anything could happen,"
"I can sense him," Lucas spoke up. His eyes shined a gold color. "I also know that this hallway should've ended by now," Lucas stopped walking suddenly making Toon Link bump into him. Lucas glanced at Toon before looking around the hall. The other members stopped as well to watch as Lucas looked around. Lucas glanced around a few more moments until he placed a hand on the wall a little further up. "Here," After a pulse of golden energy the hall vanished around the single pulse. Suddenly, Team Sonic Universe found themselves in a what appeared to be a ballroom. The ballroom is extravagant with golden floor, snow white pillars covered in gold ribbons, a second level that wrapped around half way around the room, and a large mosaic above a door. The mosaic depicted a single warrior standing above all others who were slashed, cut, burned, and destroyed in what may have been a great power. The single warrior had no real distinguishing features, just like all the bodies below the warrior. The single warrior did however seem to be receiving what appeared to be an object similar to the sphere that was found on the sinking Subspace Gunship.
"Wow all this place needs now are-," Sonic stopped as suddenly a smoke bomb went off in front of the door. Suddenly five figures appeared when it cleared. They all were the first ghost warriors they had ever fought that tried to ambush them in the ruins of the Smash Castle. The ninja, the swordsman, the kid, the hooded assassin, and the sorceress all stood together before the Smashers. "Punching bags this place does have everything!"
"Is he joking, these guys were the reason we thought Ghost Warriors were weak," Pit said in a half laugh.
"You will learn that everything is not as it seems," came the voice of what sounded like the Ninja. The group all rightfully took a step back in shock at hearing the ninja speak.
"They can talk!" everyone exclaimed.
"Well duh, it was pretty stupid of you to assume we couldn't," said the kid as he placed his hands behind his head.
"Well… you guys didn't say anything last time so we just assumed," Sonic said with a shrug.
"We can talk just like you maybe even better with a few words, you lot don't know which might not be hard. You guys aren't too bright if, you thought this would end well for you," the sorceress claimed.
"Like you're in the position to judge lady," Bowswer growled.
"We are actually. You made a grave mistake stepping into this castle. Now you won't leave with your lives, your lives will belong to Omni," the swordsman said.
"Listen, since we now know you can talk that means you must be able think on your own and you're capable of free thought. Then why not help us defeat Omni?" Zelda suggested.
"Because you cannot stop Omni, he's much greater than what you all can comprehend. It is over now that you are here, he has officially won,"
"So what are you guys here to do?" Snake asked. At this question the ninja was silent but that's all the answer Snake needed to figure out what they were playing at. "Whatever Omni has planned he needs time, these guys are trying to stall us we need to move,"
"I'll get rid of them," Lucas said.
"Yami should I-?" the kid questioned getting on guard when Lucas stepped forward.
"Relax Isaac," the ninja, Yami responded. Lucas charged up a storm of electrical energy into his hands. He was about to unleash it until Lucario stuck a paw in front of him.
"Lucario?" Lucas questioned.
"Something isn't right…we know they can think for themselves…so they would've planned for you. Maybe its best you go find Omni…" Lucario said.
"By himself?" Sonic questioned.
"I will go along with him," Meta Knight volunteered.
"Well if Meta Knight is going with him I'll feel better," Sonic said.
"Are you sure?" Lucas asked.
"…Yeah we can deal with these guys easy," Lucas nods then turns toward Meta Knight. Lucas gestured toward the door behind the ghost warriors. Understanding what he was hinting to the two prepared to move. The rest of the team charge forward with each person instantly marking up with a fighter and during this exchange Lucas and Meta Knight moved. They got through the opening created by the others and pass through the door. However, the ghost warriors didn't seem distraught by this, in fact, they seemed pretty indifferent that two people just got by. This raised a few curious eyebrows, but the time for talk had passed at this point. Sonic lead the charge first as the other members followed on his heels as best they could. Sonic and Lucario took on the Yami, Bowser and Pit teamed up for Payne the swordsman, Sheik and Ganondorf double teamed the sorceress Celestia, Toon took the child Issac on by himself, and this left the assassin Tar for Snake and Wolf.
Sonic and Lucario rushed the ninja head on by the ninja moved swiftly dodging Sonic's spin dash and swinging his leg up to counter Lucario's tackle. The kick was strong as Lucario was forced to fall back and the ninja revealed the katana from his back. Lucario rushed the ninja head on at full speed. The Yami stood his ground expecting the worst. Lucario leaped toward him and the ninja responded in a flash swinging his sword in the blink of an eye in upward horizontal slash. However, he hadn't really cut through Lucario, only an image of him. Lucario's double team had taken the ninja by surprise as Lucario came from the side with a sweep kick. Sonic added to the combo by bringing himself downward with a powerful homing attack. The ninja raised his blade to parry Sonic as he was slammed into the ground somewhat lessening the full extent of the blow. He redirected Sonic's spin making him charge off in another direction.
"You two are skilled fighters and complement each other well. I may have some trouble with you two," Yami said in a cool voice exuding confidence.
"Lucario?"
"Yes Sonic,"
"Who assigned us this guy again?!"
Sheik and Gannondorf were squaring off against the Sorceress that seemed to specialize in elemental magic. Sheik decided to get in close with the magic user to throw off her concentration. She however summoned a tornado under her feet rising in the air. Gannon leapt into the air to meet her at the height of her ascension. She was surprised but prepared as she raised the wind in front of her and froze it solid. Gannon snorted at this defense then punched his fist right through the ice shield. However, he still did not make contact with Celestia as she elegantly flew over his shoulder. She quickly turned in the air then pointed her hands back at Gannon freezing the now dangerously sharp pieces of ice in midair. "Ice!" She exclaimed. The darts of ice rained down on Gannon as he curled up his body protecting his face and allowing his armor to cushion the punishment. The ice shards came so hard and fast that Gannon was slammed into the ground and covered in a dust cloud. The ice shards stopped at this point to reveal and scratched up Gannon with his cape torn to shreds but still standing and thoroughly annoyed. "Impressive fortitude,"
"Let's test yours," came Sheik's voice behind her. Suddenly her chain wrapped around Celestia surprising her then she began spinning like a top towards the ground. They both slammed into the ground with Sheik leaping away at the last second so Celestia took the full blow. Sheik lands next to a still fuming Gannondorf, but still with enough control to wait and see the results of the attack. The cloud was blown away by a powerful gust of wind. Sheik sucked her teeth, "I thought she did something when I let go,"
"She is skilled," Gannon said ripping of the few shreds of his cape. "Much better than we had assumed,"
"Indeed…..ready to beat her up now?"
"Let's,"
Bowser and Pit were tussling with the swordsman Payne, and they understood he wore his name well. The swordsman was insanely stronger swinging around his big broadsword like it was no lighter than the Ninja's katana. Bowser easily matched him in strength, but Bowser had no weapon so he was usually forced back to make way for Pit. The angel rushed forward separating his bow in a two sword style. Pit was quicker though which was his only advantage. He danced around the broadsword with haste not wanting to be in the path of the destructive force. Pit flapped his wings to jump high over a horizontal blow so powerful it created a wind scar that blasted the wall on the other side of the room. While above him Pit put his bow together then launched a volley of arrows down below. Payne raised the flat part of his sword for the light arrows to bounce off the sword. While he was blocking Bowser came up behind him. Payne slid to the side with Bowser now in the path of Pit's arrows. Bowser was surprisingly quick for his size as he actually managed to side step the arrows. Payne let his sword rest at his side then swung it again creating a wind scar. Bowser raised his arms to block it, but luckily Pit came down with his mirror shield to deflect the attack right back at Payne. The blast slammed into Payne creating a dust cloud. Once it cleared Bowser and Pit saw that Payne used his giant sword to take the assault and cushion the blow.
"Impressive," Payne spoke raising his sword with one hand then taking it in two hands and position it at his side. "But let's stop playing around and get serious,"
Bowser snorted smoke out his nostrils. "Finally, let's see what you can do!"
"Can I get a bathroom break?" Pit whined severely out his weight class.
Toon Link faced off with Issac though Toon Link was unsure if he was comfortable with fighting an opponent that was unarmed and seemed relatively normal. "Are you going to defend yourself?" Toon asked. Isaac only stared longer for a few moments. "Hmph, okay whatever," Toon Link rushed forward with his sword pointed and swung it downward. Toon Link was surprised to hear a clang of metal on metal. His face was turned into one of shock as Isaac suddenly had a sword and shield of his own. Isaac pushed Toon away then responded…with the exact same move Toon Link used! Link quickly raised his shield to block it. Isaac placed his weight on Toon's shield through his sword with the small hero struggling to hold Isaac up. Isaac swung his foot into Toon Link's jaw knocking him to the ground. Toon Link was startled silly when that happened, so he looked at Isaac shocked.
"Like that huh?" Isaac said with a smirk. "Power Mimicry,"
"Power what?"
The boy sighed at Toon, "I can mimic the abilities and strengths of my opponents adding it on to my own. So no matter how strong you are, I'm still stronger, and anything you can do I can do too,"
"Yeah right," Toon responded as he stood back to his feet. He rushed Isaac head on swinging her sword using moves that only he could do just to prove a point. He swung down but Isaac parried, Isaac responded with the exact same move which threw Toon who clusmsly dodged it. He was punished when Isaac bashed his shield into Toon. Toon fell back on his feet then raised his sword placing it on top of his shield. Isaac copied the exact same position. Toon Link growled in annoyance as he rushed forward and Isaac met him. The two clashed with each other, over and over again. Neither side is winning out as if dancing a rehearsed dance before in preparation for this moment. Isaac was matching Toon Link blow for blow, and it frustrated the green warrior. Toon Link decided to use on of his signature moves. He strikes out with a spin attack, but shockingly enough Isaac copied the move perfectly. However, Isaac's was stronger which overpowered Toon's spin attack as he was thrown to the ground. The hero of the winds went rolling against the ground until he stuck his sword in the ground to force himself to a stop. He glared back at Isaac who was clearly mocking with a bored stance. Toon groaned, it like fighting a mirror.
"It also helps that I saw some of your moves back when we jumped you. So trust me, there isn't anything you can do that I can't,"
"We'll see about that!" Toon Link said rising again and rushing forward with his sword extended.
With Snake and Wolf, they were having a tough time dealing with such a skillful fighter. The assassin was armed pretty well with throwing knives, a sword, a hidden blade under both arms, and enhanced reflexes. Wolf and Snake were doing all they could to prevent from being impaled or killed. Tar performed a sacrifice judo throw on Wolf who had lunged at him. Once back on his face he quickly pulled out a throwing knife then flung it at a down Wolf. Wolf was not slow though as he quickly rolled to the side narrowly avoiding the knife. Snake quickly intercepted tar as they engaged in CQC. Snake and Tar traded blows hard and fast countering each move that was made. Snake struck hard and fast with a jab that Tar sidestepped then Snake quickly snapped his fist up in a reverse punch. Tar caught his fist then raised his arm to drop his elbow down on Snake's collarbone. Snake quickly raised his forearm to block. He reversed his grip on the hand that Tar caught to grab the scruff of the assassin cloak. He grabbed the extended arm then quickly stepped to the side as he flipped Tar straight to the ground doing a full front flip. Tar suddenly then rolled away like a rolling pin away from Snake quickly. Snake stepped to go after him till his feet tapped something and he looked down to see one of his grenades with the pin out. Snake reacted quickly diving out of the epicenter of the explosion. Snake went rolling against the ground with smoke trailing his form. Snake rose off the ground at the same time as the assassin.
"Guy is pretty good…" Wolf grunted annoyed. "I'd hate to die in such an archaic way,"
"I say we each take turns in wearing him down. We can't take him together, he seems better when he's outnumbered turning our attacks against us,"
"Then allow me to start off," Wolf obliged as he rushed for in a crouched run with his claws pointed toward his prey.
Lucas and Meta Knight charged down the hall as fast as they could. Lucas was running while Meta Knight was flying over his shoulder. They quickly transverse the halls moving through whatever illusions would be put up in front of them. The halls felt never ending and each section seemed like they were going in circles. Lucas was confident though they were approaching their target though. Meta Knight scanned the area feeling a sense of danger each step they took. He went over the facts in his head. Omni didn't obtain the orb that held his full power, but clearly he must still retain some of his legendary power. He can't also ignore the ancient wisdom he holds. Time is an excellent teacher and the more one has the more understanding one can gain from different situations. When one has eternity to live they have no choice but to learn all that they can. The complexity of the university baffles him, but this person has single handedly seen what possibly no other has. He must not be underestimated. Lucas stops for a moment in a fourway intersection leading to other parts of the maze of a Castle. Lucas takes a moment to look to his left, then his right, and finally center.
"Something wrong?" Meta Knight asked as he pulled his wings back to the form of a cape. Lucas was quite confident in tracking Omni before so the sudden stop was somewhat foreboding.
"Meta Knight…even as we rush into this situation. I wonder…do you really think gods exist, and if so do you really think we're going up against one?"
Meta Knight had forgotten that Lucas was just a kid. The idea of trying to take on a godly being is terrifying all on its own, he himself was nervous. "Hard to say honestly. People see gods in different ways. Some see them has a holy power that governs over all that is good, God is perfect, all knowing, absolute, and should be feared," Meta Knight looked down in thought before continuing as he faced Lucas. "But I think it our line of work in our lives the words is thrown around quite carelessly. Especially when some self-proclaim people feel that have met the unfathomable expectations required to be God,"
"I see…the word itself is meaningless. It's what the word represents that makes a being godly. I've been wondering…with all this power…does this make me a god. Being able to do anything, destroy, create, all sorts of things,"
"It's a responsibility that is hard to bare. We shall free you of this curse as soon as we acquire the sphere from Omni. Shall we get going?"
"Right, straight ahead," Lucas said running forward into another white golden hallway. At the end of this hallway were golden stairs, on the wall is pictures of angels all painted in the position of flying. All their hands were extended toward the top of the stairs that was covered in a bright blinding white light. They were all struggling to fly up to it desperate, it was written all over their faces. They wanted so desperately to get there. As they ascended they could see the angels become violent in their actions to reach the light tearing each other's wings off, stepping on each other, clawing, and fighting their way to the top. They battled to reach toward the light just as the two of them were running up the steps quickly.
"Welcome to my kingdom," came a voice. Lucas and Meta Knight entered the light and were immediately blinded for a few moments. When the light faded away they were able to see they were in someplace that appeared to be in the sky. A room that seemed endless with the backdrop of a bright blue sky covered in golden clouds thanks to the sunlight that seemed to be there despite the orb of light not being present. The floor is solid gold tiled, it didn't extend the full length of the room but it did cover a large area equivalent to the length of Final Destination stage. On the other end sat a being in a golden chair. He has a mask on his face that was split in two different colors vertically, one side black the other gold. The mask was shaped in the face of a dragon. With horns sticking out from the top of the mask, a fake beard, the face twisted into a snarl despite the smile Omni wore, and his eyes shined two different colors that matched his mask. He wears an odd armor that's completely black in direct contrast to his chair. The suit of armor hugged his body closely with a cape attached to one of his shoulders. "Excuse the unwelcoming attire, I must done it until it is time,"
"This ends here Omni," Meta Knight stated unsheathing his sword. Omni scoffs as he stands to his feet. His height was comparable to that of Snake.
"Even your legendary sword Galaxia will be of no use to you here Meta Knight. You came here for them correct?" Omni motioned further on behind his throne lay bot Master Hand and Crazy Hand bound in chains of light.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Crazy Hand waved with his pinky hand.
"You both should not be here!" Master Hand exclaimed. "I knew I shouldn't have put Sonic in charge…"
Omni walked down the golden steps in front his throne to take a few steps forward, "Or is this what you want?" Omni asked as he held up for a sphere to magically appear in his hand. Lucas recognized it as the glowing sphere he touched back at the Gunship. Lucas points his hand forward unleashing a swirling vortex of flames. The flames consumed Omni in a matter of moments. "I see where your priorities lay," Omni's voice came from above. Lucas looks up to see Omni floating in midair. "Well I will give you one or the other. The Hands, or the sphere, which one is it?" Lucas stared up at Omni in some showing of fear or terror. Lucas was shaking with his fist clenched.
"Lucas?" Meta Knight questioned. Lucas did not respond. Meta Knight decided that allowing Omni to have control of this meeting was a waste of time. He understood that this zone they were in was where Omni was sealed in, where he could not leave. Meta Knight flew toward Omni deciding that he would have a better chance with keeping the being busy. The worst thing he could do was talk at this point. Meta Knight swung his sword in a flashing blur. Omni responded by flying back then waved his hand for a sword made of white light to appear in midair. He snatched it from midair while putting the sphere under his arm.
"I hope you know what you're doing Sir Knight," Omni mocked. Meta Knight responded with sword swings. They clashed with the constant clashes of steel on steel. Their attacks ringing throughout the void of the zone Meta Knight was fighting harder than has ever before knowing that anything less with be meaningless. But he knew when he was being toyed with. Omni smirked tightening his grip on his sword Meta Knight's eye twitched as he quickly switched his hold on his sword to backwards. Meta Knight drove his sword downward misdirecting Omni's sword then reached for the sphere under his arm. "Desperate aren't we," Meta Knight let out a shot of pain as he felt his wings were run through as he was flung to the ground. Meta Knight groaned as he looked to see a light sword was pierced in each of his wings. "You should've assumed I'd have more defenses and that creating one of these light swords a simple task," Omni began to walk out the sky as if he was walking down stairs. He stopped standing over Meta Knight with his light sword still in hand. Lucas made his move rushing forward covered with lightning as he slammed into Omni. However, upon second inspection Omni had caught Lucas by his head and keeping him at arms length. "So what's it gonna be Lucas?"
"PK Thunder!" Lucas yelled. Lightning began discharging from his body like a small lightning storm was being flung at Omni. Omni's feet slid against the ground as he regained his posture after the force of the attack. Lucas rushed forward with a shrill yell of anger. He swung his fist covered in flames however he missed his mark. He swung again enhanced with fire but again he missed.
"Is that all?"
"PK Fire, PK Freeze!" Lucas yelled summoning the snowflake in his left hand, and flames in his right. He rushed forward pressing both hands together then throwing a sphere of fire and ice at Omni.
"That's better!" Omni cried as he was flung back by the explosion of the intense attack. Omni was seemingly enjoying this though. Lucas leaped over the smoke throwing psionic blast at Omni. Omni danced back on his feet as Lucas drew closer pressing Omni more and more. Lucas leaped up to the god's face to swing his leg bashing his foot into the side of the being's head. Omni spun on his feet then responded with a spinning back kick that slammed into Lucas throwing him harshly against the gold stone. He hit it so hard he actually broke into as he slid against it. Lucas wailed out in pain feeling his body slam into such a hard object by such a single hit. "That's raw power Lucas. My natural abilities are mystery to me at this point. But I'm barely scratching the surface, just like you. Stand up!" Omni raised his hand for an invisible force pick Lucas up and drop him on his feet. Lucas stumbled holding his arm like it might've been dislocated. Omni scoffed at him. "You still don't get it, fine then," He summoned another light sword then positioned the point over Meta Knight. "Maybe this will help. I'm not into discussing this with you anymore, that's over now. Lucas, now is the time, you can't fight it. You've proven you are worthy, now CHOOSE!" Omni raised the point higher prepared to impale him. Lucas' mouth trembled as tears spilled down his cheeks. He fell to his knees.
"Please…you win…just please,"
"Choose!" Omni pressed.
"I can't-,"
"Then I will for you," Omni thrusts his light sword down.
"WAIT!" the swords point sunk into Meta Knight's mask. "I CHOOSE THE HANDS JUST PLEASE!"
Omni smirked. "Well then there you have it," Omni dispelled his swords from Meta Knight as he walked away. Meta Knight slowly sat up looking quite baffled then he looked back to Lucas to see tears still spilling from his face as he stared at the floor. Meta Knight stood to his feet to walk toward him.
"Lucas, I don't understand," Meta Knight thought both deals held their own consequences but he saw more good from this choice then bad.
"You said…sometimes you make a bad choice even though you know what's right. The fact I'm willing to believe in something makes a world of a difference," Lucas paused for a few moments. "Could you tell the others something for me…?" Lucas lifted his head to look at Meta Knight with sad eyes. "Tell them I'm sorry for what I going to do,"
"Here ya go," Omni said tossing the Hands in front of them. "Deals a deals, right Lucas,"
"Nice seeing ya again Omni!" Crazy proclaimed.
"Shut up!" Master reprimanded. "This is bad, Meta Knight get us lose before it's too late,"
"What is happening?" Meta Knight asked confused.
"A change in management," came Omni's voice. Meta Knight's head snapped over to Omni to see Lucas was sitting on his throne.
"What?"
"Omni, a root word that literally means all but all of what?" Omni began. "The answer, Omni is everyone, every living thing. Omni has never been just one person but many, many different people. Omni is the potential in all living creatures particularly sentient life, that is what makes Omni himself eternal. I've outlived my lifetime far longer than what I should've. It is time a new life is brought on,"
"I don't understand…Lucas?" Meta Knight questioned the boy but he gave no response as he looked down.
"Now, the official passing of the torch," Omni stood behind the throne then he placed it on Lucas face.
That's when everything changed…
"Can't this thing go faster?!" Ness exclaimed staring out the window. ROB had remotely called the Halberd back so they would have fast transportation to the battlefield.
"We still have to be cautious. We can't help them if we get shot down or ambushed ourselves," Marth said although he was impatiently tapping his foot also. ROB pushed the engines to go faster as they began descending toward their desired location. As the castle was in sight the castle suddenly began glowing a golden light. "Is that bad?"
"Yes," Mario said simply. The Original 12 were all awake as they all rushed out the room. The second the Halberd was hovering above ground the Original 12 rushed out, and began battling their way through the Shadow Warriors that suddenly came to life at their presence. They all sported their Telepathic Nullification Badges meaning they were back on the right side.
Inside the castle Team Sonic Universe paused in their battles with their opponents to notice the room start to alter and shift. "What's happening?" Sonic questioned.
"It is done," Yami said as he picked himself off the ground with groaning. "You all are too late,"
"Omni is back?" Snake questioned.
"Yes," came a familiar voice from above them. They looked up to see two white giant hands slam to the ground chained up with chains of light. Meta Knight was with them too. They cast their eyes up to see a wondrous sight. A golden figure with a mask over his face. A white mask that covered the entirety of his face except for his mouth, chin, and right eye. The right eye revealed it to be golden, he wears a jacket that is golden with black fur on the scruff of the jacket, angel wings, black pants with black boots. The person lands on the ground behind the Shadow Warriors. They all quickly scurry behind him and bend down to a knee. "Omni is back,"
"Who?" Sonic questioned. Omni raised his hand for a flash of golden light to consume all of them almost blinding them. When the light faded they found themselves back on the lawn of Smash Castle. The castle was still glowing covered in a gold energy. They saw that the Halberd was hovering above the ground with the group at the fort fighting their way through the crowd of shadow warriors, accompanied by the Original 12 who all seem to be actually helping. Upon seeing them the Smashers quickly rushed toward them as the Shadow Warriors suddenly stopped and opened a path from them to join the rest of their friends.
"Guys what is happening?" Samus questioned.
"So the badges work…that's good," Pit smiled.
"What's happening is beyond us too," Snake answered Samus' question. Ness pushed his way through the crowd to get to the source of light. He found himself at the front to gape at the figure standing before them.
"So this is Omni, shorter than I thought he'd be," Wolf said.
"So he was just a kid the entire time?" Bowser questioned.
"We were too late…" Ness gasped as he stepped forward. "Lucas…you killed him!" Everyone seemed stunned. "You sick twisted…I don't care if you are a god, you're not going to get at with it!" Ness glowered at Omni who stared at him saying nothing. "Say something damnit!"
"Calm down Ness," Omni responded as he reached to remove up to remove his helmet. He pulled it off to reveal his golden blonde hair. When they saw his eyes they see the golden one and the other that is pitch black. "I can hear just fine," He said with a small smile.
"LUCAS IS OMNI!" everyone gasped in total shock.
"Dude what are you doing and what are you wearing?" Sonic questioned.
"I have the power now…all of it. It doesn't hurt anymore and I feel really good. I change everything with this,"
"Well then maybe you can put it back in the sphere," Lucario said. Lucas shook his head.
"That would only allow someone unworthy to have a chance to claim it. The Oracle Sphere is not perfect and can make mistakes. Besides, the universe needs Omni,"
"Lucas this isn't you, you're talking crazy!" Ness exclaimed. Ness stepped forward to place his hands on his friend's shoulders. "Everyone is okay now, we won! There isn't any need for anymore fighting,"
"And there won't have to be. A time is coming to where we will no longer have to struggle anymore," Lucas said. "For the time being you guys should return to your worlds. I have to put Smash World back to its proper setting. This was a world that has flourished far beyond what it should have. I must set things right, once that happens then I would like you all to join me in setting everything right. All the chaos that has spread throughout the universe was caused due to the absence of Omni. I'm going to need help fixing things," Lucas smiles at all the other Smashers. "I'm hoping you guys will join me,"
"No way in hell!" Gannondorf barked.
"What he means is, we can't just change things like that Lucas. We must allow others to live their lives by their choice, it would be wrong to dictate how a world should live," Sheik said.
"What are you saying?"
"That your plan is wiping the slate clean to star over, and that sounds like a mass eradication of entire worlds to me," Samus said.
"Sacrifices must be made,"
"Lucas that isn't something someone like you would ever say," Pit said.
"Everyone will be happy about things in the end, I promise you. You guys can trust me!" Lucas' eyes began begging. "Please, it would be great if the Super Smash Brothers would be with me. I want everyone with me, things won't even have to change,"
"Lucas, what your asking just isn't right! Listen to Ness we're your friends here!" Toon Link said.
"Besides sounds a lot like servitude to me anyway," Snake said.
"We'd be equals!" Lucas protested.
"We'd never be equals especially when someone like you could like blink us out of existence. Who would tick off someone who could wipe out planets, this dynamic you want won't happen," Fox said.
"So just put that crazy power back in the stupid sphere so we can go back to being Smashers and call this a win!" Ness pleaded as he shook Lucas' shoulders. Lucas looked astounded as his eyes glanced over all the Smashers. He saw they were not in agreement with his proposal at all. His eyes down casted saddened then took a look of resolute.
"Well I can't say I'm not severely disappointed," Lucas said brushing Ness' hands away.
"Lucas, please…" Ness begged.
"Lucas come on stop kidding around, as far as bad jokes go this is the worst," Sonic said. "And I know bad jokes. Reshaping worlds? That doesn't sound like you at all man,"
"Shows what you know about me, my so called best friend," Lucas said placing his helmet back on his head.
"Lucas, we are not your enemies just hear us out!" Lucario pleaded.
"You've made your choice, now I make mine," Omni said as he pushed Ness away then returns to the air. He raises his hand for a the Smashers to be surrounded by a large golden barrier. They all give a shout as they quickly began pounding on the barrier but it wasn't budging. "Enjoy oblivion then!"
"IKE! LINK!" Master Hand called. The two swordsmen saw the chains that bounded Master Hand and quickly raised their swords. They struck the chains as hard as they could. They couldn't break it though, but they kept trying. The barrier they were in began glowing brighter making them believe that whatever Omni was going to do it was happening any second.
"MOVE!" Sonic exclaimed as quickly found the knot that tied the chain together.
"Sonic you can't break these if we can't!" Ike yelled. Sonic ignored him as he grabbed the knot into his hands then everyone saw his hands began to vibrate at ludicrous speeds. The chains shattered to pieces after being shaken apart freeing Master Hand. The Hand snapped his giant fingers just as Lucas clenched his fist for a pillar of golden light shoots upwards into the sky. Omni floats down to inspect the scorched Earth. He frowned as he turned his head toward the Halberd to see it missing too.
"Fine then…they want to drag this out, that's fine. I'll squash them all the same!" He exclaimed. His angel wings merged to form a white cape as he walked toward his glowing castle.
