The True Master of the Smash Brothers part 20
"This is Our World!"
"Ya know it's funny," began the voice. The voice belongs to a giant white gloved hand, however, the hand seemed to have quite a twitching phase as it could not keep his body still. Floating next to him looking at what appeared to be a building blueprint to a new mansion is another giant hand wearing a yellow hardhat. Why he needed the hat no one knew, but he thought it made him look the part. This hand is much more calm and relaxed compared to his counterpart.
"It's probably not since it's coming from you," the other responded sharply.
"With such low standards is sure to make you laugh now!" Crazy Hand exclaims happily. Master Hand however grumbles as he allows his brother to continue. "Everything that we ever thought that would happen if Omni came back did happen. Right down to the last detail, even him taking our house! It's so sad isn't it…knowing something will happen but not being able to do a damn thing about it?" Master Hand pauses gazing at his plans to seemingly stare at Crazy. "And as crazy and unstable as I am. I knew there was no goddamn way we were gonna win, weapon or not. But those people, those people, fought anyway,"
"And what's so funny about all that?" Master Hand questions.
"That's the joke, I'm the Crazy Hand, the single most destructive force in this universe and mentally unstable so…" Crazy laughs.
Master Hand began snickering as he catches on to the joke, "What the hell are these crazy people we're living with?"
"Exactly!"
"Well they'll be a group of cranky crazy people if they have to continue staying on the Halberd until we have our home fully repaired,"
"Too bad all the hotels and stuff got ruined in the city, plus a lot of the people there are probably homeless too,"
"Yes, that does remind me, once we're fully set up here we have to provide help to the citizens," Master Hand glances at construction to see his alloys all tirelessly working efficiently as they are laying down the foundations of the new Mansion.
"Why go back to a mansion again, I thought the castle was a nice design?"
"It was far too drafty for my taste, those big towers looked nice, but having one dropped on you makes you reconsider these things,"
"There's still a lot of stuff I don't get though…"
"That is actually something we both share. Hopefully we may be able to gain a clue once we gather our bearings,"
Now, speaking of the Smashers, they all are currently taking occupants in the Halberd. Since the ship is extremely spacious it was possible to accommodate everyone, comfort is another story, but it was overlooked for the moment. Especially considering the constant battles they had been waging it was nice to finally settle down and relax to get some sleep. It was also nice to have the Originals back to their old selves again and to see that everyone has grown closer in their absence. Currently there is only on soul that is even awake, something that he cannot completely help considering all that has happened recently. Lucas sits alone on top the command center of the Halberd staring down at the construction work of the Mansion and seeing the two Hands arguing on the need of an in-house casino. Lucas smirked as normality seemed to take place again, well, as normal as things can get around here. He brings the blanket that he brought with him closer to his body feeling the morning chill. He didn't like to admit it, but he was incredibly shaken. Power can do awful things to people, even those who care so much about others can fall victim to the darkness great power bestows. He had at times thought he was too weak to prevent the bad things that happened to him, and now that he had a taste of absolute power it put things into perspective. He loves being a Smasher, he loves his friends, and he won't let past experiences prevent him from enjoying the here and now. Even if it did hurt at times…
"Hey Lucas, there you are," comes a voice behind him. Lucas turns to see Ness, Lucario, and Sonic approach. "Not to sound like we're hovering over you, but we kinda freaked when you weren't close by,"
"Like you can ever not be worried about me," Lucas replies with a chuckle.
"Well you have been through the ringer, so we just wanna make sure you're okay," Sonic says.
"We all have, not just me," Lucas corrected.
"But not a bad idea to choose this spot, a nice breeze here," Lucario says staring out as far as he could see.
"So, what's bugging you?" Ness asks Lucas cutting straight to the chase.
"Noth-," Lucas stops as Ness gives him a sharp stare. "Well, just thinking about all the things I had planned on doing with all that power,"
"Like what?" Sonic asks.
"I was gonna make my world right, just the way I wanted. I was gonna prevent the catastrophe that destroyed it, save my home, my mother, my brother, destroy the Pigmasks, and build a better future for everyone. I could've done that, it all would've been so easy, I could've done that in ten minutes," Lucas stares down at his hands. "So much good I could've done, but all I ended up doing was destroying everything,"
"Yep," Sonic responds earning a glare from Ness and Lucario. "I mean, yeah but it's not your fault. Your intentions were good, but the personality of Omni messed everything all up in your head. You couldn't tell what your actual thoughts were anymore,"
"But I saw the things I'd have to do, how to do those things, what I had to become to get what I want. I wasn't that person, so I needed to accept that eviler side of myself to do what needed to be done, not what I wanted done," Lucas closes his eyes. "I even had the power to reset worlds, break them down to their lowest form of existence. Erase everything and build an entirely new reality," At this the three of them stared at him with wide eyes.
"Omni could do that?" Lucario questions.
"Nothing is beyond Omni," Lucas says. "But with the power came new ideas, my eyes were opened to new possibilities and new dangers. My human desires meant nothing in the end because it would only cause suffering for others and human desires always leads to suffering in the end. That's what I was shown, to save everyone I had to eliminate greed in all its form, the desire to want, the desire to dream,"
"My god…" Ness gasps.
"Yeah, the worst part was how much sense it made, and how it would be so easy to carry out. It didn't matter what anyone else thought of right or wrong because those were mere constructed ideals made by those who sought order. There was no right or wrong, there is only change, which in a sense is never easy. I thought I was doing something for the good of everyone, a change that everyone could benefit from where the desire for change wasn't necessary anymore," Lucas' friend stare at him in awe and being able to receive of peace of what thousands of years of experience can show.
"Well, I guess I can see how you can come to that," Sonic says scratching his chin while looking into the sky. "But we all know that wasn't you Lucas. A world where no one can desire anything couldn't exist, especially since the one who made it can have whatever their heart desires. Like if a guy wants to make a five star meal but he can't bake, he can't grill, and he doesn't even know how to boil water, why the heck is he in the kitchen then?" Lucas raises an eyebrow at the analogy prompting a better explanation. "What I mean is, you can't create something, and not be properly equipped to create it,"
"Yeah, Omni may've showed you stuff that must've warped your mind. But you knew what was really right, that's how you were able to keep yourself from completely fading away. Right and wrong may be socially created constructs, but I don't believe so. We all have a sense of what a person should do, what makes us feel good, can make others feel good. That joint feeling is spiritual in nature. Sonic's power only weakened Omni's persona over you, but you fought to the top," Lucario says.
"You really scared me," Ness said not meeting eyes with Lucas that makes Lucas flinch sadly as he stares down below. "Not because of what you could do, but what you became. It was so unlike you to be so willing to ignore how other people feel and to look down on others. You thought our resistance was equal to that of a childish tantrum, which may've been part of the reason Omni lost. But, what really scared me is that you may not be able to come back. That you may do horrible things beyond your control, I couldn't let you have more regrets. You lost a lot because of an enemy I failed to defeat," Ness turns to meet eyes with Lucas then smiles. "I neglected my responsibility, but I won't do that again. So forgive us if we coddle you for the next few weeks," Ness says slipping his cap off to place on Lucas' head. "Little brother,"
Lucas blinks in surprise, "Little brother?"
"Don't take it the wrong way because I would never ever try to replace your real brother. But if I did have a little brother, I hope he'd be like you," Ness smirks at Lucas who can only stare at him blankly for a few moments until a big grin made itself known. Lucas knew what Ness was saying, Ness had always felt some form of guilt for how Lucas' life turned out even though Lucas never blamed him. Ness sees Lucas as a casualty of a battle he neglected to finish, a battle that had nothing to do with Lucas, so that made Lucas his responsibility. At least in Ness' mind.
"That's…wow…thanks Ness,"
"Of course after all I am the big brother, but I guess Toon Link is more like the adopted brother or a cousin…"
"And what are we?" Lucario asks.
"Babysitters," Sonic says.
"Not even, you guys are the gay furry couple," Ness points out. This makes Sonic rage out as he grabs Ness and starts shaking him.
"Don't rough him up too badly Sonic…there won't be any for me left," Lucario cracks his knuckles.
"I-I-I-I-I-w-w-w-wa-a-a-a-a-a-s-s-s-s-k-k-k-k-i-i-i-i-i-d-d-d-d-d-i-i-i-n-n-n-n-g-g-g," Ness stutters out in a jumbled mess.
Lucas laughs at his friends then smiles back toward the sun. Omni was wrong, his friends have ushered him of that now. The world is made for people to mold and make better. It's like a ginormous blank canvas where everyone can contribute to the picture whether it be good or bad. A world where no one can gain is not a world worth living in. Omni wanted something, that with all his power, he could not obtain. It's rather silly too, that with all his knowledge, power, and all seeing eyes he missed something so fundamentally easy. The acceptance of one's faults and owning up to it to become a better person since no one is perfect, even gods. He just couldn't accept the fact that the world was never his, it belonged to everyone.
Once the day had officially started once the afternoon started to roll around, the Smashers were gathered before Master Hand to take place on the deck of the Halberd. It was a great breathe of relief if everyone was honest. Being able to be at ease knowing that their comrades with no longer turn against them, and that both Hands are back in power which also means the Subspace War had reached its final climax. From the deck they all could see the repairs of the Mansion still going strong thanks to the tireless alloys whom did not need to take breaks. They all could see the outline of the Mansion start to take shape as the bricks were laid and the foundation was created. However, a brief cough from Master Hand garnered their attention rather quickly.
"Thank you everyone for your attention, for the third time now…" Master Hand said that last part grumpily. "But I am glad to see that we all survived and that the ordeal has passed. But there is still much to be done and order that must be returned,"
"We also have many questions about what had exactly happened yesterday Master Hand," Zelda spoke up.
"Questions, pertaining to what?"
"What do you mean, we just killed a god yesterday, I thought something like that was impossible," Pit said.
"Yes, we would like to know if this is a temporary fix that will lead to coming battles, or a permanent end to this menace," Meta Knight speaks with a lot of vigor in his tone.
"Ah, I see, you are all a bit nervous about if Omni is truly dead or not. Well, rest assured, Omni is truly gone from this world. The weapon was designed to target the mortality of the mortal body Omni possessed before it reaches its peak of divinity. Basically, destroy the mortal body before Omni's presence takes full command of it. As I had stated before, the window of where the Omni possessed being is killable is a window of 24 hours. After the 24th hour, the mortal has been forever transformed and there is no going back from that. The process of removing Omni from his host…I won't lie to you all, it has never been done nor attempted before. So, you're guess is as good as mine on that," This made Lucas feel rather squeamish as he tugs on the end of his shirt. "Nor has the Omni Force been corrupted to such a monster before, a lot of things happened yesterday that in all my years of life, have truly never happened before. So, a lot of it is only guesswork,"
"So, you can't tell us anything that guarantees Omni isn't coming back, say, in the next five seconds?" Sonic asks which put a few people on edge.
"Well, that I can explain. You see, the weapon destroys the mortal body of Omni, and instead of sealing it the power is scattered. Right now Omni's power has changed forms at least thousands of times now flowing throughout the universe reenergizing dying stars, bringing life to lifeless planets, spreading beauty, and springing life. As his name suggests, Omni, is now truly everyone. His persona is spread so thin now that there is now hope that he can ever find a host or even regain his lost power. It's all gone now. So though Omni is not truly dead, he can never bring back his consciousness,"
"Well that makes sense now," Zelda said with a nod.
"Really, is that what just happened?" Toon Link asks scratching his head.
"Basically guys Omni is being recycled, over and over and over and over and over again," Crazy Hand blurts out.
"Ah, I see now…" Ness said with a nod finding it odd that Crazy Hand was the one who was currently making the most sense.
"Yes, well I would like to say that all is well, so there is no need to worry now. The fighting is over, well for your lives anyway,"
"So…will I be okay?" Lucas asks hesitantly with a hand raised shyly. He shrunk back behind Lucario a little with everyone's eyes suddenly focusing on him. Everyone inwardly smirks seeing that Lucas is definitely back to normal.
"Yes, you may experience a slight power increase for obvious reasons, but that should be the only thing,"
"Power increase, whoa hey that's not fair!" Ness exclaims.
"He was harboring a god inside of him and exposed to crazy amounts of Omni's power. He still is the perfect candidate so it is only natural. We can only get rid of so much of the power,"
"Besides, we all have experienced a power increase as well from simply being so close to the event," Lucario explains looking everyone over. "We've all gotten a bit stronger,"
"Yeah, so don't sound like such a brat Ness," Toon Link says crossing his arms while closing his eyes to turn his nose up into the air.
"Do you really think so Lucario?" Sonic asks to which the Pokemon nods.
"Positive, you all have noticed we fought tooth and nail yesterday with our lives about to end. Yet we wake up all of us feeling fine with little soreness," This had not caught anyone's attention as they all look themselves over to see they are all mostly healed from the battle.
"Wow, that's so neat," Popo said looking at his hands.
"Well, we-a feel good so-a how about we head into-a the city and-a see if we-a can help the people," Mario states turning toward the Smashers.
"Great idea Mario, we should offer them as much support as we can, I had promised to help them when this was all over," Princess Peach says.
"Yes, the Princess is quite the leader, I guess Mario has rubbed off on her," Ike said with a smirk. This made Mario raise an eyebrow at him and then to Peach who only smirks with a giggle.
"I'll tell you all about it later," Peach explains. (A/N: You'll know all about it in the bonus chapter after the epilogue)
"Well what are we waiting for, Meta Knight you fire this puppy up and let's go see if we can help out the people," Sonic instructed.
"Understood," Meta Knight then suddenly vanishes.
"Whoa…did Sonic just give an order…and someone follow?" Fox asks with astonishment in his voice.
"Sonic has been the head honcho with just about EVERYONE else who were qualified was indisposed, so he was the last choice," Wolf says rather pointedly at the hedgehog's expense.
"Well I didn't hear any complaints!" Sonic retorts sharply while turning his head to pout.
"You must not have been listening," Snake says rather passively.
"Yeah, like I wonder how he didn't know, we were constantly talking about him behind his back," Pit said scratching his head.
"Sometimes we were even in the same room," Toon Link adds.
"Wow you guys suck…" Sonic pouts.
"Lucario and I tried to make sure the others didn't rain on your parade," Lucas said with a smirk with an edge of nervousness.
"But we joined in too at times," Lucario adds.
"My best friends in this entire realm, wow, just…wow," Sonic walks off with arms crossed. Ness, Lucas, and Lucario follow behind the hedgehog snickering.
"I'mm-a sure he-a wasn't so bad," Mario said with a small smirk once the hedgehog had left.
"Actually, we may've just said that so his ego didn't over inflate," Snake said passively. "With his loud mouth and stupid jokes, we tend to forget that he's one of the best heroes this world has ever known. Admitable it'd be hard not to be a little cocky," Snake suddenly sends a unanimous glare to the entire room. "Anyone who breathes a word of this beyond this point in time, I will deny it and I will get you when you least expect it," This actually earned a chuckle from only the members of Sonic Universe, since everyone else were still pretty scared of Snake.
"We agree Snake, Sonic proved himself a very capable leader. A leader is supposed to build morale, give their followers the will to follow and inspire. I'd say Sonic did that perfectly, inspiring hope to such a point we ourselves started to mock danger in its face," Zelda said with a smile.
"Well isn't that nice," Bowser grumbles as he moves to leave the room deeming it far too positive that it made his stomach turn.
The Smashers all arrived at Ninte' City and began helping the citizens recover from the catastrophic events that had followed. Lucas, extreme guilt setting in after seeing the damage, almost wanted to apologize to every single person he saw. Ness quickly scolds him telling him that it was Omni that did this, not him. The Smashers contribute to the clearing off the rubble, dealing with the few scum that try to take advantage of the situation to cause trouble, and making sure everyone was reunited with their families. Surprisingly, there is an extremely low fatality rate, apparently the city had instituted an emergency response for anything like the Subspace Invasion to happen again. Also, the few Smashers who weren't on teams had all come to help out to protecting the people with their amazing abilities. The Smashers were hard at work to providing supplies to the masses to allow them to recover. Master and Crazy Hand couldn't just poof up anything they needed, so they managed to get help from neighboring dimensions who were willing to help. It turns out Omni had started on places besides the Smash Realm. How much damage was inflicted was anyone's guess though. Speculation of such thoughts was thoroughly squashed though in respect for Lucas, there was no need to know how many he had unwillingly hurt. Sonic even took the pleasure of keeping the kids out of the way by keeping them entertained with a few tricks and jokes.
This cycle continued for about an entire span of three weeks close a month of people working to rebuild. The Smash Mansion was completed during this process, so Master Hand allowed those he deemed 'clean enough' were allowed in the Mansion temporarily. The Smashers decided that once most of the city had recovered from the attack, that they should back off their presence from the city a little bit to allow it to return to some form of normalcy. Team Sonic Universe had also disbanded now that the Original 12 were back to normal. However, despite the team disbanding the teammates still saw each other as teammates. Toon Link would sometimes ride on Bowser's shoulder talking a mile a minute, and shockingly enough the Koopa King would at the very least feign interest. Both Zelda and Pit expressed interest in what shooting a gun is like so Wolf actually instructed them on how to shoot small handguns provided by Snake who found humor watching. The only ones' who didn't act buddy, buddy were Meta Knight and Gannon who still carried their cold exterior. However, to the former Sonic Universe members it was like they had the brightest smiles on their faces and crapped sunshine with the way they greeted them. It was odd, seeing the friendships develop. Link can't say he felt at all at ease with actually seeing a laughing Zelda walking along with a scowling Gannon. It was just too freaky…
The 12 stayed pretty busy too since it was a lot of things they didn't know finally coming back to them. Lot of lost memories they didn't even know they missed out on. Each one had nightmares struggling with the darkness they never knew they had. Master Hand offered to seal the memories again, but they all openly refused, forgetting the problem doesn't make it go away, this entire experience was proof of that. The Original 12 were also the only ones who took shifts when going to check and see how things are going. Ness had also convinced Master Hand to allow Lucas to come with him on his shift, Master Hand agreed with the condition rather easily to Ness' surprise. However, Master Hand knew of Lucas' overwhelming guilt with his hand in the destruction even though he hadn't done it on purpose. Ness would often look to check Lucas' face to see how he was reacting as they ventured around the city. Lucas' face was blank for the most part so Ness was left to only guess how he was taking everything in. Too talk of what happened to Lucas was, pardon the pun, a taboo topic in the mansion. Lucas made periodic visits to Master Hand in these sessions that no one knew what happened. Lucas wouldn't even tell Sonic, Ness, or Lucario what happened when he was in the Hand's office. After multiple amounts and great pressuring, Sonic did manage to get some information out of Master Hand. He explained that there is still some lingering presence of Omni within Lucas, faint, but ever present. This allowed Sonic to get some idea of just how to help his blonde comrade the only way he knew how…
"Is everyone ready?" Sonic questioned.
"Yes, Sonic hurry, I can't hold this much longer…" groaned a voice.
"Alright, Ness should be out with the other Originals," Sonic said then began to rapidly knock on the door at super speed. Clearly this warranted immediate response as the intense knocking was answered within moments.
"Sonic, I'm not in the mood for-," Lucas pauses looking past the hedgehog to see the rest of Sonic Universe…all wearing leather jackets they had worn when they introduce themselves as a team. "What's going on?" Lucas' face winces. "And why is Gannon smiling,"
"Toldja it would scare him," Toon said with a snicker.
"Here's yours," Sonic said practically forcing it on Lucas. "Alright let's go," Sonic said gesturing forward. Lucas stalls extremely confused. But he is pulled forward by Toon Link grabbing his hand to pull him with Pit behind him gently pushing him along.
"W-what's happening?"
"You'll see," Pit said smirking.
"Zelda, take us there please," Sonic said. Zelda smiles as she raises her hands above her head for a flash of blue for the team to vanish and then reappear at another building. "Alright gang, we gotta bring our A-game everybody ready?" A chorus of positive/semi positive/ negative comments followed. "Good enough lets go," Sonic kicks the door open. With the way everyone acted Lucas assumed they were busting into some kind of illegal operation like how cops do on TV. However, his face falls upon seeing where they ended up. It looked like a…a…stage with one microphone. A TV screen pointing toward the stage and…an audience of people staring.
"What is this…?" Lucas dared to ask.
"Karaoke…Sonic's idea of fun…" Lucario graons with arms crossed.
"Alright, guys, everything in the city is having a massive grand re-opening, so we're gonna hit up every spot that they call fun here," Sonic said with a smirk.
"How did he get you all to comply with this?" Lucas asks with bewildered look on his face directed to the others. They all gave him an irritated look. "Constant pleading,"
"He cried a little with me," Gannon groaned.
"He wouldn't stop knocking…" Snake groaned trying to rub away a migraine.
"Alright, singers, who up?" Sonic said suddenly jumping into the conversation. They successfully ended it too as no one said a word or even tried to make eye contact with the hedgehog. "Hey guys, that's okay you don't have to volunteer," Everyone returns their gaze to the hedgehog. "While everyone was whining I took the pleasure of signing a few of you up,"
"WHAT?!" they all growled.
"Think of it as Russian Roulette, it'll be fun," Everyone glares at the hedgehog. Because the group was practically celebrities in their own right they were give a large booth upstairs so they could see the full stage. It turned out Pit was the first to go up and sing. He received heated stares, he looked for some kind of support telling him he didn't have to go. However, no one offered any except expectant stares. Pit sighs then stands to flap his wings down to the stage. Sonic snickers. "Peer pressure is kinda fun,"
Pit browses through the song selection miserable until he perks up at a song he actually likes. Pit decided to sing the song 'Stairway to Heaven'. He actually seemed a bit excited to start and when the music came and he got his cue boy did he start. Of course, no one freaken told Pit that he had to act like this was a performance. Pit went AWOL, singing his littler heart out with every note with his friends staring down at him completely wide eyed and greatly confused. Wolf quickly switched on the camera over his eye, he had to record every brilliant second of what he saw and watch again to make sure it actually happened as he remembered. Pit started flying around the room awing the crowd and making the Smashers duck their heads low to the table. Pit, with all his theatrics sounded worst then claws against chalkboard. Every winced with each and every note as if it hurt physically. When the song did end there was a round of applause. Pit offered to sing another song in place of another friend, but the entire Karaoke establishment decided that maybe he should take his seat.
Next to the stage is a rather stoic Meta Knight who grumbles the entire way down to the stage. After Pit's performance the tenseness did ease up a bit. He selected a short song which turned out to be based on his universe The Kirby Right Back At Ya' theme song. It was going to be interesting to see Meta Knight sing such an energetic song. Meta Knight held up the mic then waited for the cue. When he got it…it was…odd. Meta Knight's singing voice…was…deep…disturbingly so…demonic deep. The entire building made a face that looked like they weren't sure what they were hearing. Toon Link muttered how the voice was going to give him nightmares. Like his voice was so deep and scary that it could be the voicemail message of the devil. When he finished there was an applause both unsure if they should or scared what might happen if they don't.
"The next person is supposed to be Wolf…but I've had enough mental scars let's go…" Sonic muttered rather astonished. After the moment had passed though once they left everyone had to laugh. It was physically painful to listen to Pit and Meta Knight was just…dark. The next stop on their list was the mall. Being the only female, Zelda in the party she took full control of the situation. Her female intuition demanding they all try on different things. Naturally, it was a massive montage of all of them trying on different clothes some nice, some weird, some questionable, and some just disturbing.
Gannon in a pink shirt….
Shivers gone, they moved to the next spot. A portion of the road sanctioned just for kart racing. Everyone made Sonic promise that he'd stay in the car at all times. They all managed to have a kart as they race along the surprisingly long racetrack. There was a lot of silliness that followed. Surprisingly Sonic was a pretty good driver but the least functioning were Toon and Zelda. The technology they are used to is horse driven carriages or boats. The karts were advanced, so much so that driving next to them instantly put any one in danger. Toon rear-ended Wolf who cursed threatening to shoot him, and Zelda collided with Pit making him spin out of control and of the course. She gave a fast apology as she cruises by though it was debatable if she meant it since she gave such a devilish smirk. R.O.B was a perfect driving machine as he calculated each turn with remote precision as there seemed to be no one able to knock him out of first place. Bowser spit a few fireballs out at his competition as if it was a kart race back at his home, which Bowser was the most experienced in. He was right behind R.O.B. Lucas was actually in third laughing the entire time as he could hear Sonic throwing the biggest tantrum from all the way in the back of the group. Snake chucks a grenade into the air which alerts everyone that this clearly was anything goes in this race.
"Why can't we just have a nice drive?" Lucario groans. The race ended with R.O.B celebrated his, 'inorganic superiority' as he would say. Bowser second, and Lucas shyly takes third. Only because those three were battling for second, everyone else was just battling. After the Kart racing they moved to a Carnival with all types of activities. Each person was required to pair up and go off. They meet back there in an hour. Gannon tried his hand at the ring toss…too bad he had the worst aim ever.
"You can punch out buildings, but you can't get a ring on a bottle?" Zelda questioned incredulously.
"Those two things have nothing to do with each other!" Gannondorf exclaims defensively.
"Hammer test, test your strength!" called a man. He glanced to see Bowser approach with Pit at his side. "Ring the bell win a prize!" exclaims with a smile.
"I'll try maybe I can get Lady Paulatena something," Pit wondered as he takes the hammer. He rubs his hands together then swings down hard….only for his score to be ranked girl scout. "WHAT!" Pit turned to the booth runner. "This thing is rigged!"
"Let me see," Bowser growled. He took the hammer then swung down with one hand. This launched the ringer right off the bell and high into the sky. "Works fine to me," Bowser smirks at Pit. "Girl scout,"
"S-shut up!"
"Hey, hey Luke let's try that one, no, oh how about that one, no, oh how about-,"
"Link, just pick one already," Lucas said exasperated.
"Yeah, you're right we got time for each one!" Toon Link exclaims grabbing Lucas' arm to yank him toward what appeared to be a ride with spinning swings.
"Well is this mission accomplished?" Lucario asks Sonic as the stand a little ways behind where Toon Link and Lucas were running off too.
"I think so…we all needed this, some time to have some fun,"
"Ness won't be happy he's not included,"
"He'll be too busy to notice," Sonic said waving off the statement.
"Right, but it may take more than just one night Sonic,"
"I know, so I'm making this a thing…"
"You can't mean…"
"Yep, get your vocal practice in Lu, you're going up next week,"
"Sonic I will not-,"
"Please Lu, do it for Lucas!" Sonic pleaded falling to his knees cupping his hands.
"That's so not fair,"
"I know," Sonic smirked as jumps back to his feet with a wink. "Bet I can beat you at that shooting gallery!" Sonic rushes off in a huff to appear before another booth almost startling everyone there into a panic. Lucario sighs as he joins Sonic by his side, intent on destroying him in said shooting gallery.
"Alright, I think that's enough fun for one night," Sonic said once everyone had returned after the hour. Everyone seemed pretty active and happy despite being dragged out here. "Zelda, if you please," Zelda obliged as they found themselves teleported away and back to the Mansion. "Same time next week guys,"
"Yeah fine okay," were some of the responses as if they half way believed the hedgehog wouldn't pull the same stunt again. They all separated to go off to their rooms to rest for the night. As Lucas, Lucario, and Sonic ventured back to their rooms they walk in comfortable silence. They arrived at midnight which is usually the time that everyone stops wandering the halls but are still awake. Lucas suddenly pauses as making Sonic and Lucario stop as well.
"You okay Lucas?" Sonic asks.
"You did that…for me…didn't you?" Lucas questioned.
"Yeah, to show you, you can still count on the team even if we aren't officially a team anymore,"
"Thank you Sonic…it does help,"
"Great, and don't worry I didn't forget my promise, I'll take you there in the morning okay?"
"Okay…" Lucas nods remembering the promise. Lucas returns to his room to be met with an extremely concerned Ness. Ness of course pressed questions to Lucas, but Lucas answered the bare minimum. He omitted the responsibility of telling Ness where he was going for the simple fact he himself didn't know he was going anywhere. Ness allowed some lenience since Sonic, well, since Lucario was involved so it was most likely legit. The two boys went to bed shortly after Lucas' arrival. And in the morning as Sonic had promised, he woke up Lucas to take him somewhere. Lucas didn't bother to get dressed only slipping on his sneakers as Sonic left Ness a note so he didn't worry. After this Lucas clings to Sonic's back as the hedgehog rushes out the mansion, and then kicks it into high gear as he enters high speeds shooting across the water easily. Lucas has somewhat adjusted to Sonic's incredible speeds without flinching so much, but the water was a feature he was not used to. He only dealt with it for all of five minutes as they arrived upon solid ground again. After running up a small cliff they moved more inland until Sonic came to a stop.
"Okay, as promised," Sonic gestures. Lucas opens his eyes to see a field of sunflowers before them. The sunflowers were giant, almost identical to the ones back on his world, the only difference being the other worldly glow that emitted from them. Lucas stared even as he slipped from Sonic's back. He walks slowly through the sunflower forest seeing all the flowers actually tower over him with their great height. "Everything ya hoped for?"
"Yeah…it's…just like the one on my world…" Lucas talks slowly still basking it all in. He also sees the sun rise complementing the flowers beautifully with its glow. The still crisp morning nipping at him in his sleepwear, it however does not bother him. Too immersed in what he sees to really question anything.
"Let me know when you're ready I'll be up on that hill there," Sonic says pointing grabbing Lucas' attention.
"Okay…" Sonic heard something in Lucas' voice that made him turn to look at him. He however only saw the back of Lucas' head and not his face.
"I'm also here to listen if you need to talk,"
"…Right…thank you…"
Sonic hesitates a moment before adding, "You're not alone, all you need to do is call and you'll have me, Ness, Lucario, and the others running," and after Sonic vanishes in the blink of an eye. Lucas glances back at where the hedgehog stood and then toward where he said he'd be. Sure enough, the hedgehog was there lying on a patch of grass. Lucas journeyed into the thicket of flowers looking around. It all felt so familiar, like it was plucked right from his world. The familiarity washed over Lucas seeing it all.
"I'm not Omni, I'm Lucas, and no one else," Suddenly he heard a loud crash that took him by surprise. "Sonic?" he questions confused. He journeys toward where he heard the noise confused. "Sonic!" he called pushing the flowers to the side. He sees Sonic standing erect but relaxed. "Sonic what was that?"
"What?" the hedgehog questioned.
"I heard a crash,"
"Oh, sorry, that was me, I sped off a little too quick so guest ground couldn't handle it," Sonic said gesturing toward the ground to see the ground seemingly broken a bit.
"Where'd ya go?" Lucas asked.
"Grab some shades," Sonic said whipped a pair of sunglasses that are red with light blue lenses. He slips them over his eyes with a devilish smirk. "Nice sunset,"
"It's a sun rise,"
"Whoops, my bad mister historically accurate," Sonic retorts. Lucas raises an eyebrow. "I'm ready to bail, you down sniffing the flowers,"
Lucas was taken aback by Sonic's sudden…attitude coming out. "…Sure okay," Sonic turns to face Lucas which makes Lucas instantly concerned. "Sonic…when did you get that scar on your stomach?!"
"Oh," Sonic said surprised as he rubbed his stomach. "It was a… long time ago, I usually cover it up…with…make-up and stuff,"
"Geez it looks really serious," Lucas said stepping forward to get a closer look.
"Well, I think it kinda gives me an edge but I didn't want to scare anybody with it. Think I might start flaunting it. Anyway let's go kid,"
"Alright," Lucas moves to get on Sonic's back, but the hedgehog's quills suddenly stiffen make Lucas wince as he hops back.
"Yeah, no piggyback," Sonic reached down to wrap an arm around Lucas' torso. Sonic then burst off accelerating so fast he wrecked part of the floors in the sunflower field. Sonic's running style seemed odd too, wonder what happened in the fields. Something might've spooked him. Lucas decides to push these thoughts to the side after all Sonic will always be Sonic.

A/N: Did I just leave a cliffhanger at the end of this...maybe...maybe not. But rest assured the story is completed there is nothing else to add. Except the bonus chapter.
