Authors Note: I just realized it's been a year since my last update. I tried to find that chapter I didn't finish when I was in the mood for writing chapter 11 but I couldn't find it. Too busy to sort out my documents so I started from scratch again for chapter 11. I'm really sorry for not posting another chapter for a year. I'm actually afraid I lost my confidence in my writing skills but I just wish my readers won't be too hard on me. Anyway…here's your chapter 11 guys! :D
Chapter 11
Aomine was frustrated. It's been a week since the last time he saw Kise and he wanted so much to see him again. Kise's words kept on repeating in his mind like a loop and it wouldn't go away. "Do you love him?" He asked. Kise faced him again and with all seriousness, he replied. "Yes. I love him."
He understood. It had been five years and it wasn't impossible for Kise to fall in love with somebody else in that time span. Yet his heart refused to accept it. Kise loved him so much and he knew he still did. At least that was what Aomine wanted to believe. But just seeing how Kise trembled by his touches, how easily he could get emotional by Aomine's presence and how the sudden kiss he forced on Kise brought flushes on his cheeks and desire in his eyes, Aomine would bet his life on it. Kise still feel something for him. And he'd be damned if he just let this chance pass. So here he was now, stalking his way to Kise's house, unsure what to do and what to say once he's face to face with him again. He wanted to look good, so he was wearing faded jeans and his favorite black shirt that hugged his nicely built body with a print on front saying "Nobody But Me" though now that he thought of it, he might look arrogant in it. He didn't dwell long on that thought since it was what he really was anyway. The ground was crunching under his red sneakers he usually just wear during basketball tournament but he put it on anyway, he was going there to impress alright. Well not really just to impress, more like he wanted to gain Kise's favor again, maybe try to do something for his currently drowning in love heart. And longing.
It was just ten in the morning, maybe too early for a visit from him but who cares, it was Saturday and that made it more assuring that Kise would be around…and well his naughty little thing—kid, Mine, that is. He really should try to get along with the kid, he thought, because Kise adored the little obnoxious smartass child. Aomine didn't really hate him, to be honest. He just wasn't good at dealing with kids specially when the kid's going to be a total cockblock—not counting another one, the "Daddy" which he haven't meet yet or would he even want to meet that person? Probably not. What would he say anyway? "Hey I'm Kise's exboyfriend and I'm here to take him away so back off and let us have our happy ever after."
Aomine snorted. He felt like a complete ass but he had always been like that—not just to Kise but to all the women he just slept with and dumped sideways. Anyway, past is past, he always told himself. And at the moment, he really just wanted to get back with Kise. The accidental meeting at the airport was what they call fate, wasn't it? Or else why would cupid arrange such unexpected crossing path of two ex-lovers if it didn't mean they must go back together? Call him crazy, but Aomine came to believe all this love shits and whatnots the moment he realized how much Kise meant to him.
When he was only about twenty meters away from Kise's house, a slick red Camaro passed him and gracefully stopped in front of Kise's driveway. Then a man about 6'3 tall slid from the driver's seat and for a moment just stood there confidently as if he owned all the houses in that block. He was wearing a while polo shirt and khaki pants which were hugging his long legs and well-muscled thighs and Aomine grunted because as confident he was with his own body, he surely wouldn't deny a complement to a deserving man. Stopping for a minute, he noticed the man has dark red hair like the color of blood but with a dust of black strands just above his nape. Aomine couldn't decide whether the man's hair was natural or dyed.
Before he could continue with his assessment of the man, a loud excited screaming came up from Kise's front door which obviously came from the little demon—little kid Kise loved so much. Mine came running towards the man happily. And then Aomine felt his stomach sinking when he realizes who the man might me. He watched as the man enthusiastically scooped Mine up and then to his utter dismay, Kise's smiling face appeared and came closer to the man and Mine. Aomine hated the man that instant and wished him dead. He glared at them and almost decided to just leave before the scene in front of him could make a bigger damage in his hurt heart but his ego wouldn't let him so he gathered a few deep breath to calm himself and walked towards Kise's house looking as pleasant as he could manage.
"Uh—good morning…" He greeted feeling awkward standing there while the three of them looked like having a family reunion but Aomine was determined not to let them have it anyway so to hell with sensitivity. They looked good together, the tree of them, and Jealousy just wouldn't let them look like that any much longer. So stood there as Kise's face contorted in surprise and uncertainty of what to do while the red head man who he felt like kicking tilted his head looking at him with one raised eyebrows. Silence enveloped for a minute and Aomine wished the ground would just open up and swallow him. Talk about stupid timing. The awkward atmosphere was broken when Mine, the adorable devil that he was, grinned and called out at Aomine.
"Oh it's the onii-san who looks like a wolf!
"Mine! Don't be rude!" Kise who had snapped out from his stunned silence reprimanded Mine though he was trying hard not to smile and failing at it.
"I mean papa's long-time acquaintance…Hello!"
"Hello kid." Aomine replied flatly though kind of thankful for blowing the strange air away. The man smiled at Mine lovingly and then dragged his eyes towards Aomine appraisingly. And when he heard Kise addressing Aomine a little nervously, his eyes slightly widened in surprise and then morphed into amusement.
"Ao—Aomine-san, I…"Kise closed his mouth, unable to form the right word to say. Then, remembering that the two men in front of him didn't actually know each other, he presented them to one another, looking a little reluctant.
"Uhmm—Aomine-san, this is Shima." Gesturing at the man in front of him and back to Aomine. "Shima, this—this is Aomine-san."
Aomine could actually taste jealousy in his mouth, rolling enthusiastically on his tongue and he hated himself for it. He knew he didn't have the right to feel jealous at Kise not using honorific to this bastard—this guy Shima and it sounded intimate to Aomine's ears. Thank god Kise didn't call him Shima-chi or hell would break lose. Then Aomine felt like a jerk after those thoughts.
Though now that he was facing Shima and grudgingly admitting to himself that the guy could make anybody fall for him, he felt that he has every reason to feel jealous. Not to mention, he still didn't know Shima's role in Kise's life. Shima gently put Mine down and patted his head a couple of times then faced Aomine who was still eyeing him unapprovingly. He didn't know if his inner thoughts showed but if it did, Shima was doing a good job ignoring it. Instead, he still has this amusement in his eyes and a slight upward curl of his lips in one side as he stepped forward in front of Aomine and offered him a hand.
"Nice to meet you." He said nicely as he waited for Aomine to shake his hand.
Aomine accepted the handshake with slight hesitation but he did it anyway. He tried looking confident after a few shake after and looked straight to the man while titling his head a little.
"Nice to meet you…too." He replied, his eyes darting to Kise who was now looking uncomfortable at the sight in front of him. After the handshake, Shima's eyes looked like he was assessing him for unknown reason and Aomne felt like he wanted to punch the guy. He didn't like how those dark red eyes looked at him as if he knew something about him. Apparently, Aomine's right because the next words that left from Shima's mouth confirmed it.
"I've heard a lot about you Aomine-san. Didn't actually thought I'd meet you in person though." He spoke in a suspiciously pleased tone. Peripherally, Aomine saw Kise's had this look like he expected something like this from Shima but still wishing for it not to actually happen. Aomine felt a little annoyed but what did he expect? Of course Kise would share his past to someone he trusted, someone important or someone with close relationship with him because people needs to blow away some shit. He did, with Yukio, a little reluctantly so. He was really drunk that time and feeling really devastated for unknown reason he just let his mouth run until nothing was left to say. It seemed this guy—Shima had been Kise's receiving end of it though.
"Well, fuck." Aomine muttered under his breath.
