Takes place in between A Royal Discussion and Ozzie's: Pt 1.
Striker returns to I.M.P. with Kore and Seth and things do happen.
Welcome Back, Striker
Kore texted Striker, asking, How are you doing, Striker?
Striker texted back, replying, I'm doing great. Stolas had a talk with me, regarding that bitch of a boss I've been dealing with.
Kore: And what did he say?
Striker's eyes widened with shock at the text, but did his best to find the right words in order to reply. A minute later, he texted, He asked what motivated me to kill him and I told him that she paid me big money since he'd been cheating on his wife for Blizo. She provided me with a motel, money, and food.
Kore: What else did he say?
Striker: He asked if I thought about how this could affect my family and friends. I said, "Yeah, when you and Seth dragged me into a room." Yet I went along with my boss's plans, anyway. His words, not mine.
Kore: Did he ask what you had against him?
Striker: It was because I assumed he'd fuck me like he does with Blitzo and thought he'd abuse me like the overlords in the past did to me, but that didn't make it okay for me to do what I did. I had no excuse. He told me I had a lot to think about and that's what I did when he left me alone with my thoughts.
Kore: Well, I'm glad you talked to him.
Seth, who had been witnessing his mother texting his father, said, "Me, too, Mom." He watched because Kore asked him to and this sort of concerned him, as well since he was part of the family. Even Blitzo was watching in case Kore needed help with how to approach the conversation with Striker and this also regarded their employer.
Kore texted, adding, Seth is, too.
Striker: Blitz was with me when the two went on their "passionate fornication" or whatever the hell the ditzy blueblood wanted to call it.
"Yes, I was," Blitzo recalled.
Kore: Good to know.
Striker: We also had cake and tea.
"That we did," said Blitzo.
Kore: Well, that was nice. I take it that you and Blitz had a long journey ahead of you.
Striker: Yep, we did and Stolas' servants polished Bombproof's hooves, which shined like diamonds.
Kore: I'll bet.
Striker: How has you and Seth's time with Blitz been?
Kore: Pretty good.
Striker: Has he been invading you and Seth's privacy?
Blitzo gasped at the text as if he got caught.
Kore: Not so much.
Blitzo sighed with relief.
Striker: That's good to hear.
…
A month later, Seth and Kore decided to come back to see how Striker was doing by himself.
Striker was in the barn, grooming Bombproof.
"Hi, Dad, how are you doing?" asked a young voice.
Striker turned around to the familiar voice. "Oh, I've been doing fine, Seth," he replied.
"Hey, boy," a female voice said as she pet the horse, making him smile and nuzzle her.
"He missed you, guys," Striker told his wife and son, who now both pet Bombproof.
"And we did, too," Kore added, "We also came to see you because we wondered how you were doing."
"Oh, and I missed you, too."
"Likewise," said Seth.
"Would you like to come back to I.M.P. tomorrow?"
Striker hesitated for a moment. It had been over a month since the Harvest Moon Festival, the battle with the D.H.O.R.K.S., and his discussion with Stolas, but he had to admit to himself that he avoided his boss whenever he could and not get involved with killing the prince of Hell. Thus, him helping out his wife, son, boss, and co-workers take out the agents at D.H.O.R.K.S was pretty badass. Even they were impressed with his fighting skills there.
"I'm not sure if Blitz and the gang are going to want me back," Striker said, lowering his head in shame as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Blitz was with you when Stolas gave you a talking to and we were all proud of you for helping us fight against D.H.O.R.K.S," Kore reminded him.
"And Blitz says he wants you back because he misses you," Seth added.
"He does?"
"Yeah, he told us, himself."
"He could use another gunslinger."
Again, Striker hesitated, but from what he heard from his wife and son, he finally decided, "Well, I'll come back, if Blitz and you all REALLY want me back on the team."
…
That night, Striker went into his soft comfy bed. As his eyes began to close, he smiled. Although he was used to having the bed all to himself while Kore and Seth stayed with Blitzo, it felt good to have Kore sleep in the same bed as him again.
He didn't even hear the sound of a toilet flush and a door opening. Seth woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Seth stepped out of the bathroom door and he stopped over at the entrance to his parents' room. He quietly opened the door to see his father sleeping peacefully next to his mother and smiled at the sight.
…
The next morning, Striker woke up with a yawn and stretched his arms.
At the sound of him yawning, Kore slowly opened her eyes and sat up on her bed. "Good morning, Striker," she greeted.
"Morning, Kore." His eyes met hers.
"Ready to start the day with some breakfast?"
"Yeah, how about it?" He was the first to remove the sheets and slide out of bed. Kore joined him and they walked towards the kitchen to see if they could find anything to eat in the pantry.
Kore opened the pantry and suggested, "How about a bowl of cereal?"
"Sounds good to me."
"Morning, Dad. Morning, Mom," a young voice greeted.
"Well, good morning to you, too, buckaroo," said Striker, as he ruffled his son's hair.
"Did you sleep okay, Dad?"
"Sure did and it was thanks to you and your mother."
Kore went to grab bowls from a cabinet of bowls and spoons from the silverware drawer and set the items on the table. Striker grabbed the cereal from the pantry and the cereal they had was Frosted Mini Wheats. He also went to the fridge to grab a gallon of milk. They each poured milk into their own cereal before Striker put it back in the fridge.
Everyone sat at the table, eating their breakfast in silence.
"Are you excited to come back to I.M.P. with us, Dad?" asked Seth, after a while.
"I sure am, after doing some thinking about what you and your mother said."
With the cereal all gone, Seth drank the milk from his bowl.
"After all, we did off a bunch of agents at D.H.O.R.K.S. a month ago," Striker continued.
And soon, everyone finished their breakfast and put their now empty bowls in the sink to rinse them. They also each put their bowls and spoons in the dishwasher, so they'll get washed later.
…
In the I.M.P. building, Striker, Seth, Kore, and Bombproof took the elevator upstairs to Blitzo's office.
"Striker, dear, are you nervous?" Kore asked her husband, seeing him look tense.
"A little bit."
"It's okay, Dad," Seth said, holding his hand, "The I.M.P. gang came to check up on you because we asked them, too."
Striker sighed, reminiscing the times Blitzo, Loona, Moxxie, and Millie came to his house, reminding him of how good of a worker he was, despite what happened at the Harvest Moon Festival. He gave them time to forget about it, knowing they couldn't do it overnight.
He appreciated the gesture from not only his family, but also his employer and co-workers. It took a while for Blitzo, Moxxie, and Millie to convince Lin and Joe that Striker is coming back in their team and gave him time to think about coming back after his impressive work at D.H.O.R.K.S where they fought and killed the majority of the agents.
Eventually, Lin and Joe were impressed to hear the news and learned to do a background check on their future farm hands before employing them.
"Even Lin and Joe were impressed by how you handled those agents," Kore added.
"They were?"
"Yes, it took convincing, but they eventually decided that you were a good friend for helping us out and you talked with Stolas a month ago. They remembered how you helped them at their farm."
"And you and Seth were there, too," Striker added.
"They liked us, especially our son."
As soon as the elevator came to a stop, the elevator door opened and they made their way to Blitzo's office.
When they entered, they closed the door behind him, finding the atmosphere quiet until…
"SURPRISE!" a familiar voice shouted along with confetti flying in the room and a banner that read: WELCOME BACK, STRIKER! on it.
Striker swore he was going to have a heart attack.
"Blitz! Was it even necessary?!" Striker demanded.
"If it makes you feel any better, Striker, Blitzo insisted on doing this," Moxxie told him. On "insisted", he used his fingers to signify quotes.
"I'm sorry, Striker," Millie said, rubbing his back.
"Thank you, Mildred."
"Strikes, you're back!" Blitzo shouted.
"You know you don't need to do this," Striker protested.
"Yeah, well, we decided to let you back in after you showed your badass side against the agents and your talk with Stolas."
"I guess."
Blitzo wrapped a hand around Striker and showed him where the food and cake was. "Here, how about some sloppy joes?"
Kore and Seth followed because they wanted to check the buffet. It consisted of barbeque, hamburger buns, hot dogs, hot dog buns, ketchup, mustard chips, fruits, vegetables, cheese slices, and cake.
Everyone each grabbed their own paper plates, plastic silverware, and took whatever food they wanted to grab. When finished, they sat at the table to eat their lunch.
"Good stuff, huh, Dad?" Seth asked, his mouth slightly full.
"Yeah, good stuff," Striker agreed, his mouth also full.
After lunch, they threw away their old paper plates and replaced them with new ones, so they could each have a slice of cake.
The cake was soft and chewy with creamy buttercream frosting.
"So, are you glad to be back in I.M.P., Strikes?"
Striker turned around, face to face with someone he knew all too well, who was too close for his liking, as usual.
"Yeah, why?" Striker replied, slightly annoyed by Blitzo invading his space.
"Just wondering." Blitzo shrugged. "You were amazing out there killing those agents and I'm proud of you for talking to Stolas."
"Seth told me you and your employees checked on me when I was giving you space because he and Kore asked you guys to."
"We remembered your badass side and wanted you back, but we just gave you time to think about it. We missed you."
Striker smiled. "I missed you, too."
"It's good to have you back." With that, Blitzo pulled the cowboy imp and his family along with Loona, Moxxie, and Millie into a group hug.
The sound of trotting hooves broke the silence and something nuzzled against the group. Blitzo turned to see a giant horse head, rubbing against the team.
"Aww, we missed you, too, Bomby!" Blitzo giggled, petting the horse's head.
AN: Oof! This drabble turned out to be longer than I expected.
