Penny looked at herself in the mirror as she waited for her cue to come out. She had bags under her eyes and pimples on her forehead from all the late nights she'd had, but they were invisible under all her make-up. Thank God.
"Three minutes, Penny. You need anything else?" Her assistant asked.
Penny smiled. "Will you hold him for me?" She asked. Her assistant grinned. "Sure!" Penny handed her the sleeping infant. "Thanks. Diaper bag's here. It has, well, diapers and milk and towels."
Her assistant smiled as she watched Penny. "Yes, mom. We'll be fine," she said as she cooed the baby. "Time to go out there. Good luck!"
Penny stepped out to the studio and was met with hundreds of her fans. "Wow! Don't you look good," the interviewer, a girl named Julie, asked as soon as Penny sat in front of her. "Thanks," she replied.
"So how are you and Dr. Cooper?" She asked. Penny replied. "We're doing great, actually. A little sleep deprived and stressed, but we're fine," she laughed.
Julie grinned. "I hope you don't mind me asking this-how did you and Dr. Cooper happen? It's not everyday you meet a genius with multiple doctorates and a Nobel," she asked.
Penny shrugged. She could be 80 years old and weak but she'll never forget how she met Sheldon Cooper. "It all started when I moved into the apartment across his. I was just a waitress, and he didn't have his fancy Nobel yet. He had a roommate named Leonard-my ex-husband."
Penny smiled as she remembered her memories with the boys. "We had a love-hate relationship back then, me and Sheldon. He would insult me because I wasn't as smart as his other friends, and I would insult him because truth be told-he annoyed me." She laughed, and Julie laughed with her. "But I took care of him when he was sick, made him his favorite food, gave him a napkin signed by Leonard Nimoy... and he drove me to the hospital when I dislocated my shoulder... even though he can't drive to save his life."
Julie listened as Penny talked about Sheldon. She saw how much Penny adored the guy-hell, her eyes are twinkling! "I guess I've always loved him, you know? He wasn't the kind of guy I'd usually go for-maybe that's why I never realized I loved him until much later-but he was different."
"So when did you know that he was the person you want to spend the rest of your life with?" Julie asked.
Penny thought about their shotgun wedding in Texas. "One day, you're gonna meet your soulmate. And when you have, there'll be one day when you'll wake up and realize that that person is the one you want to spend your every waking moment with."
"I am so, so glad you guys are here," Penny said as she poured wine for everyone. "How long has it been since we last saw each other anyway?"
Sheldon piped up. "Four months, three days, and nineteen hours," he replied, his eidetic memory never failing. "Last time we saw each other was when you gave birth to Isaac."
Penny rolled her eyes as she smiled. Sometimes she wonders why she let her husband name her son after Isaac freaking Newton. "Oh, yeah." She glanced at her baby, who was sleeping in his crib. Soon he will be running around just like Bernadette and Howard's daughter Andy.
"So I read the manuscript, Sheldon," Leonard spoke. "Nice job."
"Thank you," Sheldon replied. "I enjoyed writing it."He said as he looked at his family.
Bernadette smiled. "I love how you wrote about all of us," she said. "I never thought you'd write about... well, us."
Sheldon shrugged. "I have come to realize that all of you have become a big part of my life, and that you all deserved to be written about."
"So, let me get this straight," Penny suddenly said. "Everyone's read the book but me?" Sheldon smiled condescendingly. "Well, that is certainly what it looks like."
Penny glared at her husband. "How did that even happen?"
"You can read it when the book's published," Sheldon replied, still smiling. "It will only be about... a few hours from now."
"But... Ugh, alright." Penny pouted. "It's not like I don't know about your life, anyway. That's what the book's about isn't it?" She said, clueless. "Cause if it's about physics then I am not reading any of it."
The group laughed. "Penny, you're like the only one who ever listens to him talk about himself. Half the time we're just sitting there thinking about how crazy he is," Raj joked.
Sheldon shot them a glare, which they still laughed at. They missed this-eating dinner in the living room, talking about their lives, insulting each other most of the time in a friendly manner. "Can you believe our lives turned out like this?" Howard mused. "I actually gave up bachelorhood to get married, Bernadette had a baby even though she originally didn't want to, Penny's a celebrity, Sheldon as a Nobel, they're married and with a baby, Leonard and Amy are together, Raj is dating... It's kinda weird."
"Weird or not," Penny looked at Sheldon. "It's been fantastic."
Bernadette smiled. "We're still keeping our promise, right? Never to miss anything important no matter what happens?"
"Well, we are here in Sheldon's book launch," Howard replied.
Sheldon glanced at his watch. "Speaking of which, we have to go." Everyone stood up and headed for the door. They all looked so regal in their tuxedos and gowns, and Penny couldn't help but smile."You guys go on, I'm just gonna go grab Isaac and refill the diaper bag," Penny said as they were all going out. She walked to Isaac's crib and carried her in her arms. "Well aren't you a cutie?" She cooed. She had dressed her son in a tuxedo-looking onesie and was absolutely amused. "Let's go grab a bag so we can see your daddy launch his book, okay?" Isaac flashed his charming toothless smile.
Penny saw a copy of the book on the coffee table, and smirked. "Right," she whispered to her baby. "What does daddy have here that he doesn't want me to see?"
She opened the book and read the first page she saw. A smile slowly spread to her face as she scanned the page-the dedication.
To Penny, who has been-and always will be-there for me despite all my imperfections. Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for being you. Without you, I would have never have gotten where I am now, never have achieved what I have. Moonpie loves you.
And to my son Isaac, who will one day read this book. I love you, son. Possibly more than your mother (I am going to get in trouble for that!) I will always be here for you, no matter what.
Penny smiled through her tears. "Well." She grabbed Isaac's diaper bag, wiped the happy tears off her face, and headed downstairs. "And I love you too, Moonpie."
AN: That's it! This is the end of my fanfic. I hope you guys had fun reading-cause I sure as hell had fun writing it! Thanks for all the reads and reviews, guys. They are highly, highly appreciated. :-)
