Harry had been in the audience waiting for the right moment to step forward. He had got a few odd looks for the cloak but no one said anything. When he heard the crowd and Albus' words, he knew the time had been perfect. He had enjoyed the look of shock on Draco when he saw him. But nothing compared to the look on Albus' face when he pushed back his hood and revealed himself. He could hear the shock in the crow, but his eyes were for Albus alone. This man had ruined his life for so long and he had been looking forward to this moment for a long time now. He had been concerned that morning, but as he stood there, he knew the timing was perfect.
Albus stared at Harry and wondered if he had suddenly suffered some kind of stroke. Or maybe Harry had come back to haunt him. But why had the boy waited so long? And the body had disappeared when he was killed. He could see from the shock in others, he wasn't hallucinating.
Harry had his arms still open. "Sad, I guess no hug."
Albus sputtered. "You…"
Minerva was shocked. "You are alive?"
Harry turned to the woman. "I seem harder to kill than most."
Minerva had a genuine smile. "You have been missed."
Harry believed her. "Thank you."
Hagrid was shocked as he bulldozed his way up on stage. "Harry?"
Fang beat his owner and tackled Harry to the ground licking him. "Missed you too boy."
Hagrid rescued Harry only to hug him. "I thought you dead."
Harry returned the hug. "I'm sorry."
Albus just watched. "This can't be happening.'
Harry turned to him. "Felt the same way once. I can't remember when. Oh wait, when you came back."
Albus sputtered. "I…."
Harry smiled. "What a wonderful welcome home party you planned."
Albus found his voice. "A memorial."
Harry pointed his wand and removed his name. "Now is right."
Harry had been told about the monument and was one of the few moves of this man he approved. He had not doubt that Albus was using it for his own purposes. And remembering the man's funeral, he had no doubt why the monument had been placed where it had been. He approved though, finally all those they had lost, had been honored. He could see Fred's Uncles, and his parents, Sirius and Moody, and others on the monument. He could see Tonks as well, and out of the corner of his eye, saw Remus touch the name. Again he was reminded today was rough for others too.
Shock and whispers ran through the crowd as they watched Harry. There was cheers and tears coming from the people. Beyond Albus, the only ones who seemed angered at all was Molly, and she was doing a poor job of hiding it. Arthur just looked pained.
Albus motioned. "We should go in."
Harry didn't move. "It's such a fine day."
"We need to talk."
Harry reminded him. "The ceremony isn't over."
Albus gaped. "It is."
Harry motioned. "The reunion isn't."
Albus tried to put a hand on him. "We need to talk."
Harry pulled back. "I thought that is what we were doing."
Albus looked to the crowd. "It doesn't need to be so public."
Harry smirked. "I know you are more one for secrets."
Albus motioned. "Surely you wish to….."
Molly had her mask back. "Harry."
Harry pulled back from her hug. "Molly."
Molly tried to hold him. "We have missed you."
Harry hid a sneer. "Going to try and invite me to dinner at the Burrow?"
Molly was pale. "I…."
Arthur looked at Harry. "You have been alive all this time."
Arthur had the same mixed emotions as Harry had. He couldn't deny that he had taken money to take care of Harry. Or that it had been orders at first. But he had come to care about the boy, perhaps not as much as Harry had thought, but he had. And he had his suspicions about Harry and his son, though he never spoke them. He knew Fred had been in love before he died, and he had a feeling that it had not been Alicia who he dated once. The twins had little to do with them before the war, and he had not spoken to George much, other than like that morning.
Harry looked at the man. "Yes."
Remus came up. "What Molly, know invitation?"
Molly spat. "You know why."
Harry pretended to be confused. "Why?"
She was red. "He demanded your money back."
Harry smiled. "Oh I had heard rumors of new owners."
Arthur sighed. "Bill and George moved in."
Molly grunted. "Reduced us to living with Percy and Penny."
Harry looked at George. "Remind me to send my condolences to Penny."
Albus said. "I must insist we move this inside, or that you leave…."
Harry turned. "Leave? Why would I do that?"
Albus motioned. "This is a disruption."
"Everyone was invited to attend the memorial. Surely someone who fought in it should be allowed."
Many voices called. "Yes. He stays."
Harry smiled. "Seems the people agree."
Albus was furious. "I am the headmaster, I have the right…."
Harry cut him off. "We will see how long that lasts."
Albus squeezed his arm. "I was headmaster long before you were born….."
Harry spat. "It seems time the school governors consider your retirement."
Albus spat. "Old blood spawn. Don't be surprised if they spit on your half-blood status."
Lucius appeared. "Actually, you missed the vote, Harry has been named the new head."
Lucius had held the title since the death of his father. But as the only lord with two seats, his father and godfather's, Harry was the obvious choice. Lucius had spoken to the board that morning before he had come to Godric's Hollow. Like Cornelius, Harry allowed them to be told. They had agreed that Harry would be the new head. Lucius was not alone, in wanting to out the man, especially since the war.
Harry went to leave but promised him. "You have not heard the last of me."
Harry felt better since he had made himself known. Taking Albus down was a process he knew. He would see the man lose all he cared about. The man had lost all his money and any land he owned. He had given his brother the bar and family home, and Aberforth could not lose either. Harry had ensured that, the old man helped him in the war, and Harry would not hurt him. The next would be to take the school from him.
It felt odd but Harry was headed to the Burrow later that day. He had been invited to dinner there, by his brothers. He had never really thought about stepping foot in the house again. He was reminded though, it was Fred's childhood home, and Bree should know it.
Harry was reluctant. "I am not sure."
Remus reminded him. "Molly isn't there."
Draco agreed. "And we will be there."
George looked at Bree. "She should see where her dad grew up."
Harry picked her up. "She is too young to remember."
Remus put a hand on him. "No one will force this."
Draco agreed. "It can wait."
But George reminded him. "It's just her Uncles."
Harry nodded. "And Luna and a few others."
Severus groaned. "Remind me how I got invited."
Draco smirked. "Thought you'd back out."
George pointed. "All the more proof she is safe."
Remus smiled. "Army full of people who'd die for her."
Harry put her in her carrier. "I guess I can't hide her forever."
Remus picked up his son. "You will both be free soon."
They knew he would be reluctant but insisted. They could have had the dinner here, but this was better. Albus was still free, and he would be a risk. But Harry and his daughter should not have to hide away like this. Harry would not take her to Diagon or such yet, until he was sure she was safe for real. But he knew that they were just going for dinner with his brothers, her Uncles. And Remus was right, she would be in a house full of people, who would die for her. He had no doubt Severus was on the list, and was starting to think that Draco was as well.
Harry took Bree from the house for the first time since she was born. He was reminded even more what he was fighting for, why he had come back. It would have been safer in Canada, but he wanted her raised here, and to be safe and happy here. And he wouldn't stop until she was.
Harry looked at the house. "I never….."
Remus squeezed his arm. "They aren't here."
George smiled. "And you have good memories."
Harry looked. "The orchards."
Bill had come out. "Flying over them."
Harry blushed a bit. "Fred and I….."
George smirked. "Didn't need the detail."
Charlie shrugged. "All the more reason to be here."
Harry walked towards the house. "I am glad you kept it."
George motioned. "Renovating most of it."
Bill explained. "And not only to add two suites."
Harry saw the clock. "Still here."
George touched it. "A gift from our grandfather."
Bill saw Harry's eyes. "The important hands remain."
Harry saw one for himself and Bree. "I had once hoped….."
George hugged him. "You belong as much as Bree."
They headed into the kitchen which was one of the first rooms done. George and Angie were living on the top few floors, and Bill and Fleur on the second and third floors for now. Charlie stayed when he was in the country. Oliver and Viktor, Luna and Neville, the Weasleys. Harry and Remus, and Draco and Severus sat down to eat. Lucius had been invited and chose to join them as well. It seemed a bit odd to all, having not one but two Malfoys sitting at the table, but they were both welcome. It seemed a bit odd to the two of them as well.
Fleur smiled. "May be here more often."
Draco smiled. "You are a good cook."
George shared a laugh. "Not what she meant."
Bill agreed. "Perhaps as family."
Any comment was cut off by a voice. "Family?"
George shot up. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Molly smiled. "Family dinner it seems."
Charlie pointed. "You can leave."
Bill said. "First tell us how you got past new wards."
Molly smirked. "You don't think I lived here that long and didn't know all the tricks."
George grunted. "We will fix that."
Molly wouldn't leave. "Your dad and the others should be here."
Harry laughed. "Surprised you didn't drag them along."
Molly shot a nasty look his way. "Won't even look at me? Too ashamed."
Harry stood, back still turned. "What would I be ashamed of?"
Molly went to grab for him. "Of the ruin you made of my family."
George spat. "This family is not in ruins, no thanks to you though."
Molly tried to grab Harry but Bill kept her at bay. "You will answer to this."
Harry took a deep breath and he turned around. He had stayed seated at first as he had Bree in his arms. The woman would never hold his daughter or have a part in her life. And for a moment he was worried about her knowing that he had a baby. He didn't want her to become a target. But Albus would never lay a hand on her. By the time he knew, she would be back at the manor, with wards stronger than the bank and school rolled in one. They had been strong before, but Severus had perfected them, adding a fidelius as well. Bree would be safe.
Molly was shocked when he turned. "Whose baby is that?"
