Hope you guys liked last chapter. Now here is where all the action begins…well mostly training and everything. But still, it's gonna be awesome. DON'T OWN BOONDOCKS! Enjoy!
Jazmine spent the whole weekend resting up and thinking. She occasionally went downstairs to eat, where she met Cairo from time to time. But she spent most of the time in her room. She thought long and hard about what is awaiting. What training will she be put through? And how long will she be able to hold out her feelings for Cairo, who happens to be her ex-boyfriend's enemy! She really didn't expect this to happen. But screw Huey! Who cares about what he thinks or feels! He hurt her, and he deserves to be hurt back. But the thing is, she just wasn't sure about her true feelings for Cairo. She didn't want to act on her feelings while she was still hurt and needy. She would do something without thinking and end up regretting it. But she didn't know how long it would take for her wounds to heal from that hurt, let alone how long she could hold out her lustful feelings for him. And now here she was in her training suit laying in her bed, 5 minutes to go before she was to go to the training field, scared out of her wits.
Come on Jazmine. Just go! She thought. You made this decision, now stay true to it!
She finally sat up on the bed and got out of it. She put her hair in a low ponytail and looked in the mirror. Yes, she was sure now. She was to be his apprentice and fulfill whatever tasks he puts her to. She was going to pass all her training and be the truest apprentice ever, even if that means being a criminal. She was up for it.
She walked out the door and made her way to the field. As she waited for the elevator, Cairo walked in and stood next to her. He had on the same suit as her, except his was black.
"Morning," he said.
"Good morning," she said back. They stood there quietly until the elevator came. As they stepped in, Jazmine spoke up. "So how does training usually go?"
"I'm not going to lie," he started. "It is kind of a challenge."
"I believe I've been challenged worse," Jazmine said.
"Oh really?" he asked. He lifted up his jacket and showed her 2 parallel medium sized scars on his side.
"Is that all?" she smugly said. Cairo gave her a questioning look.
"What?" he asked in the same tone. "You got something worse?"
"Yup." She said stepping out of the elevator. "But it's not worth showing you…yet," she said looking him up and down. Cairo smirked and followed her to the field. The security guards opened up the double doors for them as they stepped through.
The field overwhelmed Jazmine at first. It was huge, way bigger than the abandoned football field Huey and she practiced on. It was made of turf and had individual padding along the edges. Waiting in the center of the field was a man. He was a muscular, slender and tall albino man, no older than probably 25 with pale white skin, silver hair and icey blue eyes. He was quite intimidating looking. They approached him and stood in front of him.
"Welcome students," he said with a hefty voice. He put his hand in a fist, and put it against his open palm. Cairo did the same thing but paused and looked over at Jazmine. He tilted his head towards the man telling her to do the same thing. Jazmine jumped in realization and put her fist and palm together as well. "I am welcome to have you Ms. Dubois. I have heard nothing but the best from Master Shadow. I expect nothing from the best from you." He said with a smile. Jazmine smirked back at him and put her hands down.
"And you shall get nothing less, Mr.?" Jazmine asked.
"Raze, Master Raze," he informed her. "I will be your teacher from now on."
Jazmine nodded. She wasn't so sure she wanted to go up against this guy, let alone anything he had to train her with.
"Sorry to inform you guys that practice will be going longer today since we have a new student. I want her to catch up on EVERYTHING we have been doing," he explained. "Say,….an additional 4 hours?"
Jazmine's mouth gaped open, but when she looked at Cairo who was emotionless but with a serious look on his face, she immediately closed her mouth. He must have been used to practices like this. So she would have to learn this discipline quickly.
"Why don't we let Cairo go first for warmups," he suggested. "Show her how it's done." Cairo nodded and went about 20 yards out across from Raze. Jazmine stood out to the side. Ready to see what to expect. "Take your stance!" Raze exclaimed sternly but not angry. Cairo got in his stance, which was a lot like Huey's.
Then in a flash, Raze threw 5 ninja stars straight at Cairo's direction. Cairo did the matrix below 1 of them, spun horizontally between two of them and front flipped over the next two. But the second one cut his ribs.
"Aagh," he slightly groaned. Raze got even closer and threw a javelin at him. Cairo caught it without effort and threw it down into the ground. He then put his hands together and bowed to him.
Is that it? Jazmine thought.
"You're warm ups are complete, stand aside" Raze said. Cairo nodded and stood where Jazmine was holding his side.
"Give it your best shot," Cairo said cockily.
"He he he," Jazmine mocked sarcastically. "That's why you're all cut up." She walked away smugly, leaving Cairo with his mouth gaped open.
Jazmine stood in the same spot Cairo started in.
"Take your stance!" Raze yelled. Jazmine got in her stance more than ready for what's to come.
This time Raze threw 8 ninja stars but Jazmine didn't care. She easily just stepped out of the way for 2 of them. For three of them, she also did the matrix move dodging them. For the next two she somersaulted in the air. For the next two, she spun horizontally in between them. For the final one, she literally waited for like 2 seconds before simply catching the last. Cairo's eyes widened in shock. Raze then threw 2 javelins at her. She bent backwards dodging the first one. For the second one she palmed the bottom of it making it halt in a vertical position. She then spun in a circle and kicked out her leg kicking the javelin, making it go straight through the wall behind Cairo's ear. Cairo just stood there astounded. Jazmine stood back up and bowed to Raze as Cairo did.
"Well done Jazmine," Raze said while bowing. "Well done."
Jazmine walked back to the side and stood next to Cairo.
"Was my shot good enough?" she sassed. Cairo just smirked at her.
"Attention Apprentices!" Cairo immediately stood up straight with his hands behind his back and feet shoulder length apart. Jazmine kind of lost at first, just did what he did.
"Your warm ups have been plentiful," he complimented. "Now let's get to combat."
Huey woke up alone in his bed. He sat up and set his feet on the floor. He honestly didn't feel like doing anything. He just wanted to see or speak to Jazmine. Just as long as he knew she was okay, he would be okay. He never liked being dependent on people. He never thought he would be the one to be hung up on someone. But this is Jazmine. He had no option but to be hung up on her. She was his everything and he let her down.
"Huey?" Granddad knocked on the door.
"What?!" Huey asked agitated. Granddad just opened the door even though he didn't get permission to.
"Where is the cutie-pie?" Granddad asked. Huey just grabbed a knot of sheets trying to keep from blowing up again.
"She's…gone," Huey sighed.
"What do you mean gone?" Granddad asked. "What happened" he asked sitting down in the chair.
"We went to the party and she thinks I cheated on her. Everyone was drunk and a girl tried getting with me. Jazmine saw us and thought we were actually together. Before I could explain, she ran off," Huey explained. He didn't know why he did, but he just needed to confide in someone.
"And you didn't fight for her?" Granddad asked.
"I couldn't," Huey argued getting pretty angry. "She slapped the shit out of me and ran."
"Then you follow her! No matter how long she's running, or where she might be going, you follow her," Granddad said sternly. "I thought you loved this girl more than your own mother," Granddad said. That, there really got to Huey. The fact of the matter was, it was true. He has never loved a female more than his own mother before. Jazmine was that female. "I thought your love for her was stronger than ever. If you truly loved her, you would have fought for her even harder. Shame on you Huey." Granddad just got up and left the room.
What the hell just happened? Did Granddad seriously just lecture him on his relationship? What made him made the most was that it was true. He hated it when someone else told him his life as if he hadn't lived it. He couldn't take it anymore. He would call her…tonight.
It was Jazmine's turn to go against Raze. Cairo stood on the side at attention wheezing for air, with a still bleeding rib and cringing in pain from his unsuccessful battle with Raze. Jazmine and Raze stood opposite of each other and bowed. They each got in their stance. The rule was to take the offensive and to recover if the first attack was unsuccessful. Jazmine attacked with her foot first. Raze caught it with ease and twisted her foot, making her screech in pain and threw her to the ground, but Jazmine, as if she defied gravity, immediately switched directions and came right back at Raze. He just simply kneed her in the gut and let her fall to the ground. Jazmine kicked her feet up and leapt back up. Raze then took the offensive and gave her a couple round a bouts, all which Jazmine blocked. When Raze tried to do an upper cut, Jazmine grabbed his fist and finally got a punch at his pale face, followed by a kick in the ribs. Raze fell back but caught himself. He spun on the ground kicking his leg out trying to trip her but she jumped and spun in the air and tucked her leg under her, and swung her other leg out bringing it around kicking him square in the head, the same move she used on Huey. Raze fell face first on the turf. He stood back up with a dumbfounded look on his face.
"Apprentice Jazmine," Raze said in a gaspy tone. "I am pleased to say, that you have far succeed better than any other pupil of mine." Jazmine just stood there happily shocked.
"Thank you," Jazmine said while bowing. "Master." She finally let out. Raze smiled and bowed with her.
"It is not I who you should be calling Master," he said. "Say that to Shadow who chose such a talented apprentice." Jazmine smiled and stood next to Cairo in attention. "Your training for today is complete. You both are dismissed." They bowed forward and left the field.
As they made their way to the elevator, Cairo was the first to speak.
"Okay so what's your secret?" he asked as he pushed the button to go up.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know damn well what I mean," he chuckled.
"Oh! Do you mean how you got your ass kicked and I didn't?" she teased.
"Ha, ha," he mocked. "But yea," he admitted.
"I've just been…well trained I guess," she half lied. "Or that I'm just flat out better than you."
"Are you always this cocky?" he asked.
"Are you always this flirty?" she retorted smiling.
"You don't know me enough to ask me that," he said smirking sexily at her.
"Then you just answered your own question," she said back.
"Then I want to get to know you," he retorted. Jazmine paused and her face turned serious. When the elevator doors opened, she stormed out. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. My bad, I forgot."
"No, it's okay. I just…" she said turning around. "I just have to get my head straight on things first. I'm still getting used to this and it's all just a little much to take in." He nodded and made his way to his room disappointed. Jazmine inwardly groaned. "Okay…fine," she let in. "For starters…let me take care of that wound later ok?"
"Really? You would do that?" Cairo asked.
"Yea…sure," she said unconvincingly. "Just shower good and clean it." going to her room on the opposite wing of the hallway.
"Room 248!" he yelled after her. She rose her arm up and gave an OK gesture while she kept walking not turning around.
When she walked into her room, which was cleaned up again, she made her way to the shower. She slipped off her training clothes and threw them in the hamper. She slipped on a shower cap and went it to get washed off. 20 minutes went by and she stepped out of the shower, sparkling clean. She dried off and slipped on clean pajamas, some cotton purple Hollister pants and a white tank top. She needed to look for things to clean his wound. She looked in the cupboard and got out a couple washcloths. She looked underneath the cabinet and found a large bowl. Then she searched for some…there it is Peroxide. Then she went in her closet. She looked in a couple drawers and found what she needed. Some thread and a needle. She put all her supplies in the bowl and set it on the table. She looked at the time on her cell phone which read 6:03 pm. She guessed she could head down to his room now
She grabbed her key and bowl of equipment and left the room. As she made her way down the hallway, she went over her priorities. No matter what happens, stand your ground, she thought. Don't fall for any questions you know you will have to answer where he can comfort you. Don't make eye contact with him for more than 5 seconds. If he throws a flirt at you just shake it off.
She finally reached his door and was about to knock but what was stopping her? She didn't know. Her fist just held there a few centimeters away from the door. Do it you coward! No! Do it! No! Yes! No! Fine! She knocked a couple times but looked at her fist like What have you done?! Ok get a hold of yourself Dubois! He's just a boy. Just a stupid, ruthless, unintelligible… then the door opened. What she saw next nearly made her drop her bowl of supplies.
Cairo stood there shirtless holding his wound with baggy Nike sweatpants on. He had a 6 pack and pecks and beautifully tones shoulders, biceps and forearms. She dared not to look, but she couldn't help it. He even had hip dimples! That was the sexiest thing on Earth to her! Sweet effin Jesus! She inwardly cursed.
"Come in," he said coolly. He opened the door wider and let her in. As she stepped in, she got a good glimpse of his room. Everything was pretty much the same except for the atmosphere and texture of his. You could tell he had been here longer because he had pictures on his dresser, posters of girls along the walls, a XBOX 360 hooked up into his flat screen TV and some other personal things to make his room seem a little roomy.
"Nice room," she complimented.
"Thanks," he said. "So where are we gonna do this?"
"Do what?" she asked frantically.
"My wound?" Cairo said questioningly. "What did you think I meant?"
"Nothing," she said shaking it off. "Well…lay back," she directed. He laid back on his pillows. "Wait here."She took out all the supplies from her bowl and took it to the bathroom, filling it with hot water. When she came back she set it down on the dresser and sat on the edge of the bed next to him. "Lift up your hand."
He hesitantly lifted up his hand, revealing a bled through napkin covering his deep wound. Jazmine took the napkin out of his hands, and threw it in the waste basket.
"Am I gonna be ok doctor?" he asked sarcastically.
She gave him a cocky smirk and just dipped one of the washcloths in the steaming water. She lifted it, ringed it out, and slapped it on his wound, making him grunt in pain.
"I don't know, hard to tell," she said smugly. He just chuckled and let her continue. She soaked up all the remaining blood with the washcloths, and then poured peroxide over it.
"Aaagghhh yuup, that did it," he yelled. Jazmine giggled at him.
"You're pretty tough," she complimented rubbing the peroxide in, on his smooth muscled skin.
"Not as tough as you," he complimented back.
"And why is that?" she asked.
"Jazmine, the way you fought today," he said admiringly. "You don't realize how powerful you are. This is your first day here and you got your reps in on Raze. Raze! One of the most powerful Kung Fu minds." Jazmine's eyes widened in shock. "My first day here, I nearly got beat to death. And here you are, nearly defeating him. You are something special." Jazmine gave him a toothy grin.
"Thanks," she said softly. "But…I'm not as strong as you think I am." She picked up the needle and string dipped in the bottle of peroxide.
"Why do you say that?"
"I don't have the guts to become a criminal, a mastermind, let alone a murderer," she admitted. She poke the needle through his skin, earning an inhalation through his teeth. "Sorry."
"Trust me, it will come in time." Cairo said. "With the way you fought Raze today, I would say Master is setting up an assignment for you right now."
"An…assignment?" she asked.
"Yea, a task. He lets us out and take care of 'business' for him," he hinted.
"And…you have been taking care of some 'business' before I came here?" He nodded slowly. "What kind of things if you don't mind me asking?" She cut off the thread and tied it finishing off his stitches.
"I think you already know the answer to that," he said lowly. Jazmine shifted back uncomfortably.
"So…you've killed people before," she asked. He just nodded slowly again. She sighed deeply and felt her whole body shake.
"Jazmine it wasn't on my own terms," he tried reasoning.
"No it was on someone else's," she said. "So this is what we do? What we are to him? His hitmen?"
"No Jazmine listen," he said sitting up. "It isn't something I take lightly. I don't just go and kill someone for fun. It's because I have been trained to be the hardest of the hard, best of the best, and merciless of the merciful." Jazmine held onto his words and listened hard.
"I just don't think I'm cut out for it," she said shaking her head and looking at the floor.
He placed his hand over hers on the bed. "You will be in time. You will see," he said lowly and softly.
Jazmine looked down at his hand covering hers and let her actions take hold of her. She grasped on to his hand, him doing the same. She looked into his dark green/gray eyes, he doing the same. They sat there for about a minute before one of them said something.
"Cairo?...I…" she started before she felt her phone buzz. She rolled her eyes and looked at the screen, but her whole face flushed with anger as she saw who it was, Huey Freeman. She got up off the bed and answered it. "What?!" she said bluntly.
"Jazmine please listen to me. I need to talk to you," Huey tried explaining.
"There's nothing to explain, Freeman. What you did was flat out wrong and hurtful. I don't ever want to see you, talk to you or even think about you. So do us both a favor and just forget about me. I hate you! You never appreciated me, you never cared for me and sure as hell never loved me!"
"Jazmine that's not true!" Huey tried to say.
"Bullshit! You listen to me Freeman! You ever call me again! It will be the last thing you ever do!" she yelled now in a far scarier tone she's ever used.
"What the hell do you mean by that Jazmine?" Huey asked.
"I mean, that if you try calling me again…I will…KILL…YOU!" Jazmine screamed. She hung up and stood there looking at the wall.
Cairo walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder but she wouldn't let him.
"DON'T!" She yelled.
"I just want to help," he suggested.
"I don't…need…your help!" she screamed throwing the phone at the wall, shattering on impact, making a nice round hole. With that she left the room and went to hers.
She opened her door and slammed it shut, breathing heavily. She went to her bed and just sat on it plainly for a minute. To say she was pissed was an understatement. She was raging with fury! She tried calming herself down and laid down on her pillows. Maybe Cairo was right, she thought. Maybe I am meant to be trained as a killer.
"What is the report on my newest apprentice," Shadow asked stroking his sword in his chair. Raze stepped up to his desk.
"She's…phenomenal!" he admitted.
"Too phenomenal for the legendary Raze?" he inquired. "How 'bout that?"
"Master, this warrior is no ordinary warrior. In all my years of fighting and teaching I have not seen anything like it," he explained. "Most warriors are driven by rage and hurt. That's what makes them successful. But I'm afraid that she is driven by something even deeper than that, which makes her all the more dangerous."
"So you think she's ready," he asked standing his sword on the marble floor. "Only after a day of training, you think she is ready."
"No, Master," he answered. "I know she's ready." Raze said confidently.
"Then inform her on our plans on Friday," he demanded. "That should give her enough time to get used to things."
"Yes, master." Raze said bowing to him and leaving.
"I have finally found the most worthy apprentice," Shadow said to himself. "She shall be my ticket to almighty power," he said running his fingers along the dragon pattern of his sword.
WOW! Jazmine sure is stronger and more powerful than she thinks. But will she put it to use? Keep reading to see! Review please please please!
