Chapter 14
Back to life
The night had passed as quickly as it had come. Layton never left Luke's side, even when the boy had fallen asleep, he stayed.
When it was around 11 o'clock in the morning, the Professor was forced to leave his son for a few minutes to go and get some breakfast.
But finally the Professor felt a little relieved. Luke was with him. And even though he had some really bad memories, Layton was sure that they would be able to go through this, together, as a family.
During the night Luke had calmed down a bit. He did have some nightmares but after he had woken up everything was fine again. Of course the poor boy would have some trouble moving on but he was moving on and that was the important thing.
His thought were whirling around like a sea during a storm, when Layton made his way to the "Bakery-Store". That was until . . .
"Yeah I know, that just felt incredible!", a female voice nearly screamed and the Professor knew that voice. He turned around saw a blonde girl, standing next to another girl, talking to her. And even though is was anything but gentlemanly behavior Layton started to eavesdrop.
"And I swear the second I jumped down I wanted to go back, but I couldn't so I just fell and the next moment I remember, I was laying by the river and BREATHING! Can you believe that?! I really survived!"
"This is awesome Céline! I mean it seems that you are the very first person who ever survived a jump like that. And you have no idea how lucky I am about this. It was just too soon for you. By the way, why did you try it?", the other girl, called Larissa, asked
"Try 'what'!? 'To kill myself'? That's just because... Luke still doesn't remember me. I couldn't live in a world where he doesn't know who I am. I love him too much to let him go... And now He'll never remember me again."
"Oh he does!", came Layton's voice from behind, "He does remember you, Céline. And I am very delighted to see you alive but-", Layton unfortunately couldn't finish that sentence.
"Really? Lukey remembers me?! This is great! Oh my god.. I-I have to see him at once.", Céline started running towards the once visited hotel, but was caught by a suddenly appearing, that belonged to Layton.
"I'm afraid I cannot let you go to him. I am sorry", he said
"WHAT THE HELL!? No let me go. I have to see him!", Céline yelled at him in return
"Yeah man let her go, see him. She has suffered enough!", Larissa screamed, trying to get Layton attention. But it didn't work.
"She? She?! She has suffered enough!? young lady, my son has suffered way more than you think and now he's finally on a way to get better. I will not let you destroy it.", the Professor tried to explain as calmly as possible.
"B-but.. I . I can't. I've missed him so much. Please let me see him.", the now crying girl pleaded
"I'm afraid I cannot let you do this. Céline you were willing to take your life and leave Luke here alone... Now you should accept the consequences. If you truly love him, than please let him go. Let him come back to England with me and let him live like he should have lived right from the start."
That hit a nerve. Céline could finally understand why it would be best for both of them, if Luke would continue believing that she had died.
Céline signed, "Alright, I'll try to stay away from him, but you should take him with you as soon as possible.", She said quietly sobbing, breaking her own heart.
"Thank you my girl. You will not regret it. And no need to worry I already bought the tickets and the flight will start this evening.". Layton answered reassuringly.
"Oh..O-Okay... Then ... give him a hug from me, okay?...Bye", Céline said, while small tears were forming in her eyes and she run of, having Larissa following her, with a more than concerned facial expression.
"I will...Promise", Layton whispered after her until he continued to get some breakfast, he was certain that Luke would never find out about this, Of course he might be forced to lie to his son.. but was hiding the truth as bad as lying?..
He was about to find it out...
