Bad For Me
A/n: ohmigod guys I'm so sorry! First of all, I know there are no excuses but here's what happened. I use a specific app that allows me to sync notes to a website, making it easier for me to write stories. However I recently got an iPhone, on which that app is not available. Therefore I'm having to write this on just the notepad. And, even though I don't mind that, it takes longer than usual.
So I got halfway through writing this chapter when my phone stopped working. Ugh. So I had to get it fixed. A week later it stopped working again.
Anyway long story short I had a lot going on. There's no excuses for this, but here's the chapter. Again I'm so sorry!
Chapter Six
"Lili!" A voice called, "LILI!" I finally woke when I realized that the voice wasn't in my room. It was in real life and there was a banging filling the apartment. When I looked up, I found that Spock was already looking down at me. I shrugged and slipped out of his arms. Grabbing my robe and pulling it on, I opened the door. Gaila stood on the other side.
"Hi?" I said more than asked. It was only Sunday. What was she doing back?
"Hey," I noticed it was dark outside and glanced at the clock, "Did you just wake up?"
"Yeah. I guess we slept through the day. Not surprising considering-"
"Yes I'm sure your sexual adventures will be very interesting to me later. Right now I need you." I let her in and shut the door.
"What's going on?"
"Long or short version?" I sighed and glanced at the hallway that led to the bedroom.
"Short."
"Uhura got dumped and we're going drinking to help her forget. We need our designated driver tonight," she said.
"Gaila I-"
"Look. I hate to be that friend, but you've kind of been ignoring us ever since you started dating... him," she seemed sad. Suddenly I realized she was right.
"Oh my god. I'm so sorry,"
"Trust me. You'll be forgiven if you just drive us home. You can even take my car," she held up her keys. Well I did love her car.
"Alright. But I'm wearing jeans," she shrugged.
"Come on. Let's go back to the dorm and get ready," she said, obviously more excited than before. I rolled my eyes.
"I'll meet you in the car," I said. She nodded and headed out the door.
"Well she has a way with convincing you," I heard behind me as a pair of arms wrapped around me.
"Good... evening? I was just coming to talk to you," I said.
"Because you are going with Gaila and Uhura to make sure that they get back to the dorm safely?" I gave him a questioning look, "It is a small apartment. I could hear you,"
"So you don't mind?"
"Of course not." I turned around in his arms and kissed him quickly.
"I'll be back in a few hours," he nodded and released me.
"Two more!" Gaila yelled at the bartender. She was giggling. I rolled my eyes as he gave her the glasses and she ran back to Uhura. I leaned against the bar and took a sip of my water.
"You know. I knew this girl once," a voice said, "She was my absolute best friend. I thought I had a crush on her, so I kissed her. She was so grossed out that she pushed me into a lake."
"Hey look I'm just trying to-" I stopped mid-sentence and looked to my left. I grinned, "Well well well. If it isn't James Tiberius Kirk."
"The one and only," he said, holding his arms out. I went to hug him.
"And I wasn't grossed out. Just shocked," he smiled.
"Mmhmm." He took a sip of whatever filled his glass.
"So what are you doing here? I thought you were "on leave" for another few months,"
"We were called back early due to technical difficulties." he said, "What about you? Don't you have school tomorrow?"
"Designated driver," I said, waving my water bottle in front of his face.
"How very responsible," he said, "Same old Lili,"
"And what is that supposed to mean?" I asked.
"Always the driver, never the drinker," he said.
"Is that a bad thing?" He furrowed his eyebrows before turning on his stool and looking at me, almost like he was studying me.
"You probably see the world a lot clearer than the rest of us," he said, "But that's not always a good thing." I nodded, thinking about the way he'd worded his response.
As the night wore on, Gaila went into the back with three different guys, and then went home with the first one. I rolled my eyes as she winked at me on her way out. Uhura also found someone to go home with. I, on the. other hand, had someone to go home to.
"Walk you out?" Jim asked. I nodded, smiling at my old friend. As we got out into the night, I realized how packed the club had been earlier, considering how far away we'd parked the car. It was also freezing. Without even a look, a jacket was draped across my shoulders.
Soon enough, we were standing in front of Gaila's silver car.
"Thanks for walking me," I said. Jim nodded. As I was thinking about the best route home, I suddenly became aware he'd stepped closer to me.
Then he was leaning down.
"I-" I pressed my hand against his chest, "I'm not exactly available right now."
"Oh." Jim said, "Look I'm sorry. I had no idea I never would have-"
"It's fine." I said, "I just have to get back to him and you know how Vulcans get when they're left waiting." I said, trying to lighten the mood. Jim nodded and then stopped.
"Wait Vulcan?" I nodded. He seemed to be thinking something over and began talking out loud to himself, "Vulcans don't ever come to study on Earth... Even since the planet was destroyed. So what Vulcan could you possibly... Unless. Oh my god." He turned to face me, "You're the student."
"What?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows, "What student?"
"Lili... Do you not know what ship I'm captain of?" I shrugged my shoulders. He'd told me once before but it'd never really stuck I guess, "The U.S.S. Enterprise." My eyes widened in realization. "And yeah I still keep in contact with him. Lili what are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking I'm in love with him," I said, suddenly defensive, "I love him with all my heart. He's the one Jim. Just leave me be," I was so sick of being judged. I ripped off his jacket and threw it in his direction.
"Lili I don't want to fight with you," I glared at him, "Just be careful okay?" I saw genuine concern in my friend's eyes.
"Okay."
My drive home was silent. I'd have to discuss with Spock who we were actually telling. Because suddenly, there's a whole window of strangers that might know.
When I got to the apartment, I knocked twice before using the key he'd lent me.
"Hey I'm home! I ran into an old friend of mine. We need to-" when I entered the living room, a surprising image was before me. My dad was sitting in an armchair which faced the couch where Spock sat.
"Liliandil. Take a seat."
DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN! I swear I'll get better at updating but yeah. It wasn't worth waiting for probably but there you go!
