A/N: I'm sorry for the temporary pause in updates. Things happened. Hey, so I have to ask for advice, from anyone who's willing to help. I feel as though I'm getting off track with this story. I know where I'm going with it, and I know how I'm going to get there, but I need to know if the story is moving too slowly. Just let me know what you think, okay?

Review Replies:

Guest 1- Thank you! That's what I was aiming for. Kaname may be the perfect gentle man, but I feel like he's a bit ruthless underneath.

Guest 2- Don't worry, we see the others soon enough. Very soon, actually. I don't plan on following the original story very much, because it doesn't fit my purposes. :) Do you think I'm making him brutal?! Let me know, please! Thank you!

Guest 3- Kaname isn't exactly himself around anyone, he doesn't trust them enough. Still, he's more open around Zero than the others. I don't if you'd call it lively or carefree... More like asshole-ish and cruel. Lol.

Guest 4: Will do!

EmiAni: Darling, I do apologize for the lack of activity. Life has been rather hectic, but I will try to get a more stable updating system/pattern, okay? Please continue with your wonderful reviews. I have missed them, and they do inspire me so.

Review Please!

Aido sat in the semi-gloom of his bedroom, sulking and filled with disbelief. His beloved Kaname-sama had scolded him again, much more harshly than usual. The blonde gently rubbed his cheek, trying to rid himself of the lingering sting.

It seemed as though the pureblood was irritable, although no one could really understand why. Aido was worried. Kaname-sama was never cruel, and he very rarely struck anyone, nor did he snap at them. Lately, however, the brunette had a short fuse that was constantly lit.

Due to his inquisitive nature, Hanabusa Aido couldn't help but pry. He observed closely, following his sovereign at a safe distance, like a bothersome shadow... And witnessed some things he definitely should never have seen. Thus, the slap he had received.

He knew he had deserved it, and he knew Kaname-sama had every right, but Aido still couldn't believe it. Kiryu, of all people was the source of the pureblood's brooding. The silver haired hunter was nothing but a nuisance, and should have been eradicated long ago, but Kaname had kept him, gave things to him that he didn't deserve, such as blood and free will. It disturbed the blonde for reasons even he did not quite understand.

Deep down, Hanabusa, knew that part of it was jealousy. After all, who wouldn't be jealous? A lowly level D was receiving special treatment from a pureblood! The very thought was blasphemy. Kaname-sama was handsome, kind, intelligent, powerful, graceful, charming... The blonde was rambling again. But he was in shock...

Two Hours Earlier

Kaname Kuran left the Moon Dorms before any of the Night Class would even think about waking. It was an ungodly hour of the day, around two thirty, but the brunette left with haste, almost rushing, and failing to notice the masked presence that trailed behind. He moved towards the classrooms in which the Day Class currently resided.

Aido thought, at first, that he was fetching that petty human girl, Yuki. It would make sense, after all. Who else would he come to retrieve personally? But the pureblood didn't turn down the hall to her classroom, confusing the blonde until he realized something. Zero and Yuki only had one period separately. Meaning that Kaname was there for Kiryu. With this knowledge, the blonde sped outside.

Blue eyes peered out from a shrouded face, searching desperately for a clue as to where Kaname Kuran found his interest in the spiteful vampire hunter that was Zero Kiryu. The male was stubborn, clueless, angry, hateful, and dirty compared to the prestige of such a powerful pureblood! It was blasphemey, plain and simple, to allow such a creature to be so close to Aido's Kaname-sama.

Currently, the blonde was contemplating methods of murder as he perched in a tree outside the classroom Zero was in. He glared intently at the sleeping silverette, masking his aura even more securely so as not to alert the hunter to his presence. He didn't want to get shot at... again.

Hanabusa knew that Kiryu was a vampire. That was no surprise to him, considering how cruel and ruthless Shizuka Hio had been whilst attacking the hunters. What did surprise him, though, was how everyone was willing to give the boy so much. Chairman Cross had given his home; Yuki gave her blood; and Kaname gave his protection. Yet, Zero appreciated none of it.

It made Aido sick.

But he didn't have time to dwell on those thoughts. Kaname waltzed into the classroom with a dignified air, requesting politely that Kiryu leave with him. The teacher, of course, did not refuse. And so, the silverette's classmates woke him, quickly scattering once his eyes opened. Zero didn't even bat an eye, though. He simply stood and stalked past Kaname with a low growl, waiting for him in the hallway.

Kaname had his hand firmly around Zero's wrist, tugging the silverette along with his own swift stride. He wasn't angry with the other, per say. Just a bit irked. Without the bond open completely, Kaname couldn't tell if the younger male needed blood, nor could be ease away that craving. It had been at least two weeks since Kiryu had fed. The pureblood knew he need it desperately.

So, he had quickly come to the conclusion that Zero could miss a class or two. It wasn't like he paid much attention anyway.

The brunette led Zero out towards the Day Class boy's dorms, which were deserted at that time. They were far enough from the Moon Dorm that none of the other Night Class students would be likely to scent them, but Kaname insisted upon enetering Kiryu's room to avoid prying eyes.

Zero was furious at this development, to say the least. Murderous was quite possibly closer in accuracy. But then again, he always wished to maim the pureblood, so the feeling of unadulterated rage was nothing new to the silverette. He wanted nothing to do with the dark eyed male in front of him, and especially didn't want to be sharing blood with the manipulative man. However, it wasn't like he had a huge choice in the matter. Even if he resisted, Kuran could force him to partake. Zero would never stand a chance.

These thoughts kept the level D comforted, secure in the knowledge that he did not want any pay in his current predicament. Begrudgingly, Zero led Kaname into his room.

The older vampire stopped a moment to take in his surroundings. The walls were bare, as well as all shelves and flat surfaces. The bed was impeccably made, and would've looked unused, save the boy who perched on it warily. "So Spartan, Kiryu, " he murmured, clicking his tongue in disapproval. "It's as if you don't live here at all."

The hunter snarled at Kaname. "Shut up. We aren't here for you to criticize my lack of decor or design."

The pureblood sighed. "No, I suppose we aren't. We should just get this over with, then. Yes?" He walked towards the bed, undoing his tie and letting it drop to the floor, quickly followed by his jacket and vest. The first few buttons of his black shirt came undone as well, before he stood in front of Kiryu. "Before you drink, you and I must speak. I understand that you want your privacy, and I will not begrudge you that. However, I need you to reopen your end of the bond."

Zero scowled. "Why?"

"Because I can be of no assistance if I cannot feel you through our link. I must have access to you entirely in order to sustain your sanity. I will not pry, and I will not peer into your thoughts or memories. I will respect your boundaries as long as you keep our bond open," Kaname explained patiently.

"And if I don't?" Zero challenged.

Kaname sighed. "Then things will get very painful for you. You can allow me in, or I can force it. The choice is yours."

The hunter glowered, but knew he was beaten. "Fine. I'll fix it after changeover," he spat.

The brunette smiled. "Good. Now we can begin." He took a step forward, standing in the V of Kiryu's legs. He leaned forward and turned his face to the side. "Make it quick, and do try not to spill. It creates more trouble for us both."

Kiryu ignored him, electing instead to pull the brunette closer. He swept long hair back with his hand, twisting his fingers into it, both to hold it back and to hold Kaname still. His other hand went to the pureblood's waist. Pale lips skimmed the surface of an unblemished neck throat, tounge flicking out to wet the bite area with slow strokes, numbing the intended entry point. Sharp fangs elongated, scraping the surface of Kaname's neck without breaking skin.

It was a teasing gesture, albiet an accidental one, and Kaname couldn't repress the small shuder that passed through him. The bite area was a naturally sensitive place, and the sensitivity only increased once one had actually been bitten, especially by the same person. Nerves built up under the skin, making vampires very receptive to repetitive bites. This was particularly true for purebloods.

Thankfully, though, Zero was unaware of that small fact, and didn't seem to notice Kaname's shaking. After a few more torturous moments, he finally bit down.

The bite itself was harsh and fast, twin points of searing pain in Kaname's neck. The feeding was primal, raw thirst sated in quick gulps and deep pulls, drinking as quick as possible. It was sloppy and unskilled, but rang with a bone deep, masochistic pleasure. This was what feeding was truly like, what it was intended to be. It was both painful and blissfully satisfying in a way Kaname didn't want to explore, but had no qualms losing himself in.

Kuran raised a hand to the base of Zero's skull, encouraging him silently, whilst the other hand fisted in the dark fabric of a Day Class jacket. The silverette responded by clutching Kaname ever closer, fingers scrabbling at the small of his back, yanking his head further to the side for better access to the pale flesh before him.

He removed his fangs in a slow, taunting manner, dragging a wet tongue across the bleeding marks they left. A smirk settled on Zero's sharp features, his eyes alight with crimson fire. His lips trailed upwards, intentionally using his fangs this time. Kaname growled, not wanting to show weakness. "Do not test me, Kiryu. Drink and be done. I have more important things to tend to."

Zero hummed in response, a small chuckle pushing through his lips. "But you're enjoying this, aren't you? I can taste it," he whispered in a voice that was not quite his own, before sinking his fangs back into the already-closing holes.

Kaname gasped at the sharp sting that stole through his body. His fingers tightened around the silverette, twitching, but he gave no response to the other boy's words. Zero was not in his right mind, and so the older boy merely let him drink his fill. After all, that's what he came to do.

Not long after, Kaname could feel the younger male slowing his pace to very small sips. His fingers loosened their grip and his touch became reluctant again. It was then that Kuran drew away from Zero, wiping away residual blood, and donning his uniform once more. Kiryu just sat on his bed, glaring at the pureblood stonily. "Until next time, Kiryu." Kaname said, expecting no reply, and swept out of the room.

He was back outside within moments, not hesitating for a second as he called, "Aido. I suggest you learn to hide better. You make a frankly awful spy."

The blonde had rushed to Kaname's side, flushed from embarrassment and apologizing profusely. Kaname cut him off with a single, effective slap. His voice was deceptively calm as he said, "You have disobeyed and disrespected me, Aido. I am quite disappointed. I expect better from you in the future. And you mustn't speak a word of this to anyone. Am I understood?"

"Y-yes, Kaname-sama!"

And so, Hanabusa returned to his room to contemplate the things he had seen. He was careful not to wake Kain, remaining silent. It was impossible, inconceivable, and yet it was true. Kaname-sama was sharing blood with that wretched cretin, Zero Kiryu. Aido was enraged. But he would do nothing, nothing at all to hinder his Lord's actions. That was not his place.

The blonde sat in silence, putting together the puzzle pieces he had been given. He had been unable to hear the hushed words spoken between Kiryu and Kaname-sama, but it was obvious that Kaname was helping Kiryu for Yuki's sake. He'd do anything for her. It also seemed as though Yuki was unaware that such actions were taking place. Aido knew Kaname didn't want to share this information with anyone, but he allowed Aido to retain his memory of the event.

The more Hanabusa thought about it, the more confused he became. Why was Kaname-sama allowing him to keep such damning information? It made no sense. But the blonde felt very privileged to be trusted to such an extent. He vowed to keep Kaname's secret at whatever cost. He would not fail.
