CHAPTER SEVEN
"I don't like it."
"Well it's my life, and you don't have to like it, Isaac," Magda informed him as they halfheartedly sparred during a training session. It had been two weeks after Magda had befriended the twins, and while Isaac had started to warm up to Ethan, he still did not like Aiden… at all.
While Magda refused to go on a date with Aiden, he started joining her on her morning runs, as well as lunch at school. Aiden would also sometimes join her during her training sessions, though he always made sure that neither Isaac nor Derek were present.
"I'm just trying to look out for you," Isaac said, as they continued to spar.
"And I'm a big girl, and can take of myself," she told him, blocking a blow. "Why are you giving me such a hard time about it? Even Derek backed off after a few days."
"Uhm, maybe because he and his brother have repeatedly tried to kidnap and kill me," Isaac said.
"That was before," she huffed. "When they were in the Alpha Pack. They're omegas now. They're different. They've changed."
"You would know," Isaac commented. "You've spent time with Aiden nearly every day these past two weeks."
"Jealous?" Magda commented, catching Isaac off guard and pinning him on the ground, her claws and his throat.
"Sorry, am I interrupting?"
Magda and Isaac immediately got up at the sound of Aiden's voice.
"No, we just finished, actually," Magda said smiling at him. "Isaac was just leaving."
With a final glare at Aiden, Isaac left.
"He really doesn't like me," Aiden commented, getting in ready position to spar with Magda.
"He doesn't trust you," she corrected.
"He's jealous of me," Aiden pointed out, swinging but missing.
"Why in the world would he be jealous of you?" Magda asked him with a teasing smile.
"Because for some crazy reason, you've deemed me worthy enough of your time," Aiden said. "Time that could've been spent with him."
"You and I are friends," Magda said pointedly. "Just like Isaac and I are."
"Please," Aiden said. "You are totally into him, and he's into you, but he's too much of a bullheaded teenage boy to admit it, even to himself."
"What are you, Dr. Phil?" Magda smirked as a swipe on Aiden's chest, cutting through his shirt.
"If you're trying to get my clothes off, sweetheart, all you had to do was ask," Aiden winked as he dodged her next swipe.
"Are you a bullheaded teenage boy then too?" Magda asked, ducking and swiping Aiden's feet from under him, but he quickly turned it into a backward roll and got back into fighting position.
"No, I'm past that stage," he told her. "When I want something, I go after it."
"And what is it that you want?" Magda asked as they circled each other.
"You," he said simply. Taking her by surprise, he easily overtook her, pinning her to the ground.
"Look," he said softly, gently holding her on the ground. "I like you. You took the time to get to know me, and you get me. You're kind, and kickass. You're funny, you laugh at my jokes, and you're super hot. I know you've had your issue with guys in the past, which is why I've toned it down, but dammit Magda, I really want to kiss you right now."
Magda could feel her heart beating quickly. She knew that Aiden had a thing for her, and that he was usually aggressive with what he wanted, but the way she felt with him so close to her… she wasn't expecting wanting it at all.
"Then what's stopping you?" Magda said in a small voice. Aiden moved into a more comfortable position, kissing her softly. He moved one of his hands to the back of her neck deepening the kiss.
"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that," Aiden said when he pulled away, resting his forehead against hers. He stood and helped Magda get up.
"Well that was definitely not what I was expecting from training today," Magda said.
"I'm sorry if I pushed you," Aiden said. "I am just really bad with being patient when it comes to beautiful women."
"Look, Aiden…"
Aiden held up his hands. "It's fine. I told you, I know that you have a thing for Isaac."
"Is it really that obvious?" Magda blushed.
"To everyone but him, of course," Aiden answered. "You know, I could help you with him. And we could have some fun while we're at it."
"What do you mean?" Magda asked, her heart finally returning to a normal pace.
"You like me right? Just not the way you like Isaac?" he asked. Magda nodded. "We could, you know, not be a thing, but date here and there. Kiss. Make Isaac jealous," Aiden suggested. "Just enough so that he realizes how he actually feels for you. In the meantime, I get to be with you, even if for just a little bit."
"Doesn't that seem… immature, to be playing games with his emotions?" Magda asked.
"Would you rather confront him directly about your feelings? Or just wait until he figures it out on his own?" Aiden asked.
Magda bit her lip. "Fine."
"Does this mean I get to finally take you out on a date?" Aiden grinned.
"Looks like it," Magda smiled back. "Better make it a good one."
"You're going on a date with Aiden?!" Derek asked, pulling out a fresh tray of cookies. Isaac's head shot up.
"Yeah," Magda shrugged. "He asked, I said yes. It's not a big deal. It's just a date."
"Are you doing this to spite me?" Isaac asked.
"Contrary to popular belief, Isaac, not everything I do revolves around you," Magda said.
Cora raised her brow, knowing she'd get the full story later. She knew full well that Magda had feelings for Isaac, so there must be another motive behind her date with Aiden.
"So when are you guys going out?" Cora asked, ignoring Isaac's comment.
"This Friday," Magda said as she grabbed a cookie.
"Just be careful, alright?" Derek warned.
"Yes, dad," Magda rolled her eyes with a smile.
"Just give me a call if anything happens," Isaac added. Magda smiled at him fondly and placed her hand on his.
"Thank you for your concern," Magda said genuinely.
"Jeeze, Isaac, I can't tell if you're more overprotective brother or jealous ex," Cora teased, effectively shutting Isaac up.
Later that night, Magda crept out of her room and towards Isaac's corner. After the first night of hanging out with Aiden, Isaac had complained of his scent on her, and Magda indignantly slept in her own bed. Neither had slept very well. But ever since, if Magda spent any time with Aiden, she avoided Isaac's bed.
"Isaac?" Magda whispered, crawling into his bed.
"Hey," Isaac said sleepily.
"Sorry I woke you," she apologized sheepishly.
"No, no," Isaac said, turning so that Magda could curl up against him and lay her head on his chest. "It's fine. I kind of missed having you."
Magda didn't reply as she fit herself into the crook of his arm, smelling his scent. She was suddenly hit by how much she had missed their sleeping arrangement as well.
"I'm sorry you don't like me spending time with Aiden," Magda mumbled into his chest.
"I just worry," Isaac said. "I don't want to see you get hurt."
"Why not?"
"Because I care about you, doofus," Isaac answered. He paused before continuing, "When I saw you at the dance a few weeks ago… with that dickbag… I saw red. I had never been so angry in my life. If Stiles hadn't interfered, I'm scared I would have killed him." Magda listened silently. "I don't ever want to feel that angry again. I don't want to lose control."
"But you have your anchor, right?" Magda asked as she closed her eyes.
"My anchor is anger. At my father," Isaac told her quietly.
"Then maybe you need to find a new anchor," Magda mumbled as she fell asleep.
Isaac looked down at her sleeping form and smiled lightly. "Maybe I already have."
"Do I look alright?" Magda asked self-consciously. Even though she and Aiden had the parameters of their relationship defined, she was still nervous for her first real date.
Magda turned for Cora. She wore dark-washed jeans, a flowy floral top, and a leather jacket. She had even taken the time out to curl her long dark hair.
"Gorgeous," Cora grinned. She turned to Isaac. "Don't you agree, Isaac?"
"You always look good," Isaac shrugged, turning his back to them and opening his French book.
"Fine, go ahead and pout," Cora mocked. She turned back to Magda. "When is he coming to get you?"
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "There he is," Magda smiled.
Isaac was the one to open the door. Aiden wore black slacks, a button down blue shirt, and held a bouquet of sunflowers.
"Hi Isaac," Aiden said politely. "I'm here to pick up Magda for our date."
Isaac opened the door, but stood firmly in the way as he said in a low voice, "I don't care if Magda likes you. I don't trust you. And if you hurt her in any way, I will rip out your throat with my bare hands."
"Very original," Aiden commented as he pushed past him. "Like I would hurt a hair on her head."
"Hi, Aiden," Magda smiled at him. He handed her the bouquet of sunflowers and kissed her on the cheek.
"Are you ready to go?" he asked her.
"Let me just put these in some water," Magda started, but Cora took them from her.
"I've got it," Cora said. "You just go have some fun." She winked.
Aiden laced his fingers through Magda's, and smiled at Cora then Isaac. "I'll have her back at a reasonable hour."
"It's a good thing I decided to wear pants tonight," Magda said when they reached the parking lot and approached Aiden's motorcycle.
"You did promise you'd let me give you a ride on Lola," Aiden grinned as he handed her a helmet.
"You named your bike?" Magda laughed.
"Hey, you have your hobbies, and I have mine," Aiden defended.
"Yeah, but I never named any of my punching bags," Magda teased. "And if I had thought of helmets, I wouldn't have put so much effort into my hair."
"Good thing you're hot enough to pull off helmet hair," Aiden winked. Magda blushed. "Hold on, beautiful, it's going to be one hell of a ride."
"You know, I'm surprised you didn't try the whole fake yawn, arm around the shoulder thing," Magda teased as they left the movie theaters.
"Nah, too predictable," Aiden said. "I gotta keep things exciting if I only get you for a short period of time."
"Really now," Magda said, as she slipped her hand into his. He smiled at her. "Then what do we have next on the agenda?"
"How does a picnic in the woods, sound?" Aiden asked her.
"Surprisingly romantic," Magda confessed.
"What? Did you think I was just some horndog?" Aiden asked.
"You don't want me to answer that," Magda laughed as she held Aiden's arm and leaned against him.
"That hurts, Magda, that really hurts," he said, holding his hand over his heart. "I thought you of all people would see the deeper, sensitive, emotional side of me."
"Maybe," Magda said evasively. "But I also know that you hit on everything in a skirt, you didn't say a word to me until I got 'hot,' and you kissed me after having distracted me and pinned me to the ground."
"Okay, so when you say it like that, I sound bad," Aiden admitted, and Magda giggled. "But you also know that I can be kind when I want to be. That I love my brother more than anything. That I'm funny."
"Sometimes," Magda interrupted.
"Try all the time," Aiden grinned. "And most of all, you know that I value your friendship and… companionship, enough that I'm willing to give up the chance of a real relationship with you, just to help you get Isaac."
"I didn't ask you to do that for me," Magda defended.
"I'm not saying you did," Aiden said. "But if it's the only way I get to show you my romantic side and not get judged for being a pansy, or the only way to kiss you, I don't really have much of a choice." Magda was going to retort, but they had reached their destination.
"Oh wow, this is gorgeous," Magda said when they arrived to the picnic site. There were at least a dozen candles surrounding the area, lighting up the area. There was a large picnic basket sitting on a checkered blanket, a bottle of wine resting in an ice bucket. "Although this has to be some kind of fire hazard."
"I had some help from Ethan," Aiden admitted. "And don't worry, they're battery lit candles. Do you like it?"
"It's amazing," Magda said as she sat down on the blanket. Aiden joined her.
They spent the next hour eating sandwiches that Aiden had made, and talking about anything and everything. Magda had to admit that it was easy to think of Aiden as more than just a means to get Isaac to notice her.
Suddenly, Aiden head snapped up.
"Shh," he shushed Magda mid-laugh. "Do you hear that?"
There was a gunshot and Aiden fell back, wincing.
"Aiden," she whispered.
"I'm okay, just the shoulder," Aiden said, wincing as he sat up. He noticed the black ooze. "But it's laced in wolfsbane. It must be hunters."
Magda tuned her ears, focusing all of her senses.
"There are only two of them," Magda whispered. "I could probably take them."
"Magda, no," Aiden said. "You could get hurt. You need to call for help."
"By the time they get here, the hunters could call for more backup," Magda whispered back. "I can handle it. Trust me."
Aiden nodded, wincing as he got up with her. "You're not going to handle this alone. Not as long as I can stand."
"Well look what we have here," a man appeared, gun in hand. "Two of you. And the poor little boyfriend is already injured. This is going to be too easy."
Aiden snarled at the hunter, and the hunter pointed his gun at Aiden, giving enough of a distraction for Magda to attack the hunter. Another bang went off before Magda forced the gun out of the hunter's hand. She sensed the presence of the hunter's partner and quickly spun around, just in time to use the hunter in her arms as a human shield, protecting her from a bullet.
"You're going to pay for that, you little bitch," the other hunter, a female, snarled at her. "You're going to wish you never ran away from us."
The hunter aimed her gun, but Magda quickly ran left, a bullet grazing her side. She quickly lunged at the hunter, throwing her knee into the hunter's stomach, causing her to double over. Instincts taking over, Magda slashed the hunter's throat.
Wincing slightly at the wound on her side, she judged she'd be alright, and instantly was at Aiden's side. The second bullet had hit him in the stomach.
"Aiden, look at me, are you okay?" Magda asked.
Aiden looked at her and gingerly touched the wound at her side. "You're hurt."
"Not as bad as you," Magda said, looking over his wounds. She gingerly helped him up, propping herself under his shoulder, supporting half his weight.
Magda bit her lip. She knew if she didn't get out of there quickly, other hunters would probably come soon.
"We don't have much time," she told Aiden. "This is going to sound crazy, but I need you to climb onto my back so I can run us back to the loft."
"Are you crazy?" Aiden said. "I'm more than twice your weight."
"And I've done nothing but train since I moved here to Beacon Hills," Magda told him. "I run every day, I bench more than three times my weight, and oh yeah, I'm a damn werewolf! Stop underestimating me and climb on."
Realizing Magda was completely serious, Aiden climbed on, and was pleasantly surprised by how steady she stood.
"Hold on tight," Magda smiled. "You're in for one hell of a ride."
"Is Derek home?" Magda asked as soon as Isaac opened the door to the loft. Magda was supporting Aiden, both out of breath.
"Derek!" Isaac called, "What happened? You're bleeding."
"Hunters," Aiden choked out. Derek came down and immediately went into action.
"Wolfsbane?" Derek asked. Magda nodded and Cora went off to get the supplies Derek would need.
"Bullets," Magda supplied. "Most of the blood isn't mine. I just got grazed, but Aiden was hit twice. Shoulder and stomach."
"You're hurt?" Isaac asked, immediately at Magda's side.
"I'm fine, I was just grazed."
"Look at what you did!" Isaac yelled at Aiden, fangs showing. "Some hunters from your past came to collect on your psycho ass, and Magda got caught in the crossfire! I swear, as soon as you're better, I'm going to…"
"Isaac stop!" Magda yelled, getting between the two werewolves. Her brown eyes met Isaac's yellow. Aiden was already laying on the table, breathing labored, eyes closed.
"He put you in danger, Magda," Isaac told her in a low voice.
"No, he didn't," Magda said steadily. "They weren't after Aiden. They were after me."
DUN DUN DUN... Things are finally starting to get interesting. I'm not used to writing action scenes, so please forgive me if the fight scenes are a little off. Feel free to use your imagination to make it better!
