Chapter 16: Treasure Seek
Hi guys! It's been quite a while since Daisy and Toadiko made the bet, did Boomerang actually take a week or so to remove the hand on top of the coin? No one ever knows. XD Also, this fic already has 63 reviews! That's more than Saboteur Investigation which is already finished. XD Thanks everyone for the support!

Chapter 2 review: Err… I think that Waluigi is out by now, but I guess episode 1 is still too early for a suspect.
Chapter 4 review: I personally don't mind Waluigi all that much, well, I don't exactly like him or dislike him, if I dislike him, would he even appear here? XD It would really suck to get out first in a Mole game, the shame and all that, so I agree with you on that. I see that you have also started a list now.
Chapter 5 review: Rosalina in the games doesn't seem to have troubles with money a single bit, but I guess it takes some money to feed that many lumas, however since they are so small I don't think they eat much. XD

"Alright Toadiko, you win it, it's a game of luck and you won." Daisy sighed, a bit disappointed with the results.
Daisy: Am I disappointed? Heck yeah! I mean, it is a game, but still, an exemption is a lifesaver in The Mole. I guess it might be a better decision to actually compete for the chance, however what's done is what's done, and I can't change it.
Monty smiled, "Now, I see that Toadiko has the exemption clue, here you go and you can be off. This change comes at a price though since you will not get a single clue about this challenge but there is a supervisor and 5 runners. You have an hour to find the green treasure chest for the exemption." He handed Toadiko a white slip of paper and Toadiko sprinted off into the distance.
Toadiko: This is actually kind of sad, since I might not get the exemption and would be left without any information for this challenge, and that is always a disadvantage on the quiz. I hate to admit it, but I guess I'm not that confident in winning the exemption or the game.
"Now, Rosalina, would you come forward please?" Monty motioned for the space princess to step up, which she did. "This challenge is called Coin Treasure, as the name suggests, you have to find 5 treasure chests filled with coins. Rosalina, here are 5 slips of paper and a walkie-talkie. The others need their own walkie-talkies which is right here." He handed everyone a smaller walkie-talkie which would be attached to their ears.
Rosalina: As the supervisor, I feel like that my part in this mission is quite huge. There are papers slips handed to me which has some word printed on them that must point to a place on this mountain.
Monty came back to Rosalina, "Rosalina, you will be in one of the vans of The Mole which will be provided for you, inside there, you will have to direct all of the others to find the treasure chests which will be hidden underground. You also have an hour only to find them. One more thing, each treasure chest that a player set their hands on will add 5000 coins to the pot, making this challenge worth 25000 coins. The players cannot search for another player's treasure chest otherwise there will be another penalty, you ready? The van is just there. I will be at the bottom of the mountain on the train's side if anyone needs me." He pointed at a van on the side of the road, which Rosalina went into straight away before heading down the mountain himself.
Boo: I feel like that Rosalina is the only one that knows where we are going, god knows if she is going to sabotage without us knowing or not. I don't have a clue where my treasure chests could be, so I could only trust her and listen to her instructions.
Toadiko sighed as she looked at her clue.
Exemption – The Mole.
Toadiko: You want to know how I feel right now? I feel miserable, I have no idea what the clue is talking about and I might be interpreting it the wrong way, I have absolutely no idea where to go or what to do.
Rosalina calmly read all of her clues to where everyone needs to go.
Daisy – Perfect map of the entire place.
Boomerang – The best place to rest and cool down during your trip.
Paratroopa – Most let this place go by, but the place is lovely in hot weather.
Boo – The bottom of the enjoyment of kids who wants fun.
Junior – Mole.
Rosalina: I think I have a grasp for most of the clues, but Junior's clue is one that I don't get. I highly doubt if the producers would reveal him as the Mole but… It's really complicated, now that I see this clue, I don't know if I'm doing the right thing anymore on the quizzes.
"Rosalina, have you gotten ready yet?" Boo asked from her walkie-talkie.
Daisy's sound was the next to come through, "Hey! We could hear each other!"
"I guess it's good for us." Boomerang started, "I mean, if we passed by a place that another is supposed to go, it's always good for us.
"Hey, Rosalina, are you ready to announce where we are going yet?" Paratroopa asked.
Rosalina nodded even though she knew that the others can't see her. "Daisy, try to go as high as possible. Junior, maybe search for a hole of some sort?"
Rosalina: Once Junior's clue settled into my hands, I don't know if I wish to announce it to the others or not, because I feel like it is a clue, but it is just so… Obvious, that's how I would call it.
"What did it say?" Junior asked.
Rosalina gulped, "Um… The treasure is inside a deep hole."
"That is not it." Junior argued back, "It has to be something else."
Boomerang rolled his eyes at Junior's remark.
Boomerang: Junior said that is not it, how could he know that is not the right sentence? Might he be the Mole and argued back on instinct without thinking?
"Right then, Mole." Rosalina said, "The only words on there are Junior, dash, Mole."
Junior: I don't get it, I know that I am not the Mole, but it is extremely weird. Why did it say 'Mole' on my clue without any other words? I feel like that Rosalina is not giving me the whole thing, or that she is trying to let the others be wary of me.
Daisy by this time is already on her way, "Rosie, I see two different peaks of the mountain, which one do you want me to go to?"
"The highest of them, of course, dig there and you might find it." Rosalina replied back.
"What about us? Are you forgetting us?" Paratroopa asked.
Rosalina sighed, "The other three clues might be a bit… Different. Boo, if you were a little kid on this mountain wanting to have fun at the bottom of something, where would you go?"
"That doesn't make any sense!" Boo exclaimed.
Boo: Alright, this clue is way too weird. I feel like the either Rosalina's interpretation of the clue isn't right, or that we are missing a huge clue in that clue. I mean, I don't see anything around here that kids would like to play with.
Boomerang cleared his throat, "Rosalina, where should I go?"
"Um… Where would you head to if you were told that you need to go to somewhere cool and relaxing?" Rosalina replied back in question. "Paratroopa, yours says that it is a place to miss very often, and is very good for hot weather."
Paratroopa: A place that people disregard as nothing very often and is very good for hot weather is either an oasis that is somewhere on this mountain, or maybe in the desert, or a cave, I think that both of these places is where Boomerang and I needs to go.
Rosalina stared hard at the clues after Paratroopa, Boomerang, Junior and Boo all headed off in different directions.
Rosalina: I am pretty much doubting that the fact that the instruction that I gave to Junior is incorrect. By the word 'Mole', I can think of many things, the saboteur I suspect, the facial mark, and a heap of other things, but overall, I think that 'hole' isn't the correct way to interpret it.
"I don't see a hole here." Junior told her from the other side.
Rosalina rolled her eyes, "Maybe you could try digging one or it might be somewhere else?"
"Where could it be!?" Junior shouted, "Do you think that it is even here?!"
"Um… I think it is up in the mountain, but I don't know where to go too just with the word 'Mole." Rosalina said back calmly.
"Ugh, back to square one again." Toadiko sighed as she came back to the starting point. "Wait…" She looked up at the flag with the green Mole thumbprint Monty left behind. "Don't tell me that it means…"
Toadiko: Two of the most seen signs of the show of The Mole are the light green and its thumbprint. If Monty chose to leave this perfectly fine flag behind, then that has a meaning behind it, and I'm guessing that this flag has something to do with my mission.
Toadiko laughed as she started digging beside the flag, but nothing came. "Hmm… Maybe it is right under the flag." She pulled the flag out and got to work.
"Right, so that this is definitely not the place." Junior grunted. "I don't think this is the place."
"Well, I guess I'll try to come up with something else." Rosalina sighed.
Paratroopa's voice came through, "I found my chest at the oasis!"
"Same here! It's in the cave!" Boomerang happily shouted.
Daisy was next, "Yeah, I got some good news too! I found my treasure chest as well!"
Boomerang: Since Para, Daisy and I all found our treasure chest, 15000 coins are secured in the pot. If both Boo and Junior manage to get theirs as well, then it would be a perfect win for our team, however I couldn't help but to wonder what Toadiko is doing right now.
Rosalina smiled as she learnt the news. "Boo, Junior, how are you two faring?"
"Not so well," Junior replied, "I don't know where the heck 'Mole' might point to."
"Yeah," Boo agreed, "Do you think it's that easy to find a place like that?"
Rosalina sighed. "Well then, maybe Boomerang, Paratroopa and Daisy might know where the places are."
Rosalina: Very well progress, for now. However with only 10 minutes remaining, it is not that easy to try to locate the two treasure chests by scratch. But I don't know where might Toadiko be and Junior and Boo aren't having a nice start on their search.
Toadiko swiped the sweat on her forehead and smiled in victory. "Yes, I found the exemption!" She took the green treasure chest and opened it, inside is the green card with the word 'exemption' on it. "This is perfect! Go me!"
Toadiko: It is perfect for me! This is a good chance for me to win now. Since if one of my suspects gets executed this episode and I'm still here by 100 percent, I will most likely move into the game more than I expect myself to, this is a great chance for me!
Boo saw a slope with a bar on top of the mountain, he rolled his eyes.
Boo: Is this a coincidence? This so called slope looks strangely like a… Slide, which children slides down that is a lot of fun to them… I might know where my treasure chest now.
He approached the bottom of the slope but checked his watch before gasping.
Boo: That is when I realized, crap! I only have 2 minutes left!
He approached the slope. "Wait! Don't do this!" Someone shouted as sounds ruffled out.
Junior hopelessly walked around the place. "So where is my treasure chest?"
Rosalina sighed on the other side. "I don't know, only 2 minutes left- Wait! I know!"
"Where is it, quick!" Junior shouted. Only weird sounds came from the other side.
Junior: I cannot hear a word she says, all I can hear is the malfunction noises from the other side. There isn't much time left and I don't know what to do.
Rosalina stared at the walkie-talkie in her hand. "Hello? Boo? Junior? Anyone there?" Nothing came.
Rosalina: Someone said in a deep voice which I cannot recognize whose it is, to tell Boo not to dig around the slope, right away the walkie-talkies died out of nowhere, what could've happened here?
Boomerang stared at his earpiece that he took off weirdly. "Err… I have no comment."
Boomerang: I almost freaked out when the voice came and I don't know whose it was, one thing that I know, is that someone is sabotaging.
Paratroopa continually tried to communicate with the others, with no avail of course.
Paratroopa: I thought that maybe it was just a malfunction, but then I remembered the voice, it could literally be anyone. Toadiko even, gods know where the heck she might be right now.
Daisy pounded on her earpiece. "Ugh, get working!"
Daisy: I feel like the final 10000 coins will be lost due to this, since Boo and Junior both was cut off from information outside. With only 1 minute left, maybe it is only safe to say that they won't find their chests.
"Congrats, the card is yours." Monty smiled at Toadiko, who smiled back.
"It is a pleasure to know that I'm safe for this episode." Toadiko smiled back, "I wonder how the others are doing."
Monty smiled, "Maybe it is only fair to let you guess yourself, now, let us wait for them, since something happened, this isn't any more use." He gave the walkie-talkie to a producer nearby.
Toadiko: Huh? By something, could something go wrong? Like always? *Sigh*, it's literally every day that someone manages to sabotage without anyone noticing.
Everyone was at the hotel again, eager for the results. "Now," Monty started, "I believe that Toadiko has found her chest and got her exemption for the episode, that is two players exempted for this episode, the rest of you are still all at risk."
Toadiko: Since Junior is already exempted, at most 5 people are eligible for execution this episode. I guess that it is quite obvious that Boo, one of the people that has the least amount of knowledge of who the Mole is or so he thinks, might be executed, and that is always not good for me.
"Paratroopa, Boomerang and Daisy, since all three of you have found your own treasure chests, 15000 coins will be added to the pot. Boo and Junior, you two haven't managed to find yours and a malfunction has happened to all of the walkie-talkies and someone must be sabotaging, since someone said in a low voice: 'Don't do it' before the malfunction occurred. Just to let you know, anyone could be at fault, even Toadiko because she was actually with me at the time and had a walkie-talkie like Rosalina's with me so she might have asked it from me and sabotaged. Since I know who the Mole is, I guess that it's only fair to say that someone out of you sabotaged it, it might be Boo, who decided not to try his luck under the slope, where his treasure chest was actually located. Junior's is with the literal Mole, myself, it is under where I was standing."
Junior: I knew it had to be a 'Mole' of some sort! I originally thought it might be a creature called 'whacka' that lives here on this mountain, but I couldn't find any, so that's why it is so easy, it's right under where Monty is! He literally told us that he is under the mountain, so that's the hint to it.
Boo: Yeah, I know that I acted dumbly, but if it was actually Rosalina, then it would make sense because I dismissed it as a normal malfunction at the time so her voice went wrong. I guess I am acting suspicious in some ways this episode for now.
"Alright, Boomerang's is inside the cave, Paratroopa's in near the oasis and Daisy's is on the top of the mountain, Toadiko found her exempted under that Mole flag I had with me as well. Players, please have a nice night and tomorrow we will have the final mission for episode 4 and the execution." With that, Monty left the hall.
Rosalina: All I know is that I am not the one who malfunctioned the earpieces, everyone is still a suspect, Toadiko included. She might seem innocent but I guess Monty did answer my question the entire time: Does Toadiko have any access to our information? Because since she is my prime suspect and I'm pretty sure that there might be a question or two about this mission included on the quiz so unless someone gave her some information, she is at a great disadvantage if she didn't get her exemption.
Toadiko: I never asked for the walkie-talkie! I swear! I don't even know an option like that exists! I promise that I am never sabotaging on purpose! But I can't judge the others suspicions though, since I have an exemption, Boo might be the one at risk, however I will ask him for some information about this mission as well.
Team Pot:

Rosalina: Ever since Birdo's departure, my confidence in finding the Mole has dropped by a decent amount. Now with two players exempted, the only way to secure my safety is to be able to trust the others and narrow down the suspects, however, Paratroopa, my roommate, is not one whom I trust.
Paratroopa waved to Rosalina as she came down into the café in the lobby. "Gee, talk about luck! It is quite nice to see my own roommate here!" He laughed.
Rosalina had a smile of her own. "Well, I guess it is pure luck that we have met here, say, are there any suspects of yours?"
"Why would I want to tell you?" Paratroopa asked in a sly way.
Rosalina: Since I see him here, why not try to fish out some information from him? Maybe let us clear my thoughts, or rather, maybe pinpoint someone as the Mole, him included.
Paratroopa: I know for sure that Rosalina is trying to hook something out of me. But this game is all about how much information you know, so that's why I don't think I'll give any to her easily, since she is actually one of my prime suspects as well.
Boomerang: Since Junior went out for a walk, Daisy and I both agreed to share some information with each other. Maybe this is a great chance for us to nail someone to watch out for in the next mission and maybe watch out for the entire game.
"So, who is your prime suspect?" Daisy asked.
Boomerang laughed, "Maybe it is the best for you to tell first?"
Daisy laughed, "How about on the count of three?" Boomerang nodded at her suggestion.
"One, two, three!"
"Rosie!"
"Junior!"
"Huh? Junior? I've never thought much about him as a suspect…" Daisy rolled her eyes.
Boomerang laughed, "Rosalina is already under my radar for a long time, but I think that Junior is very good on sabotaging."
"In what ways?" Daisy asked, confused.
Boomerang smirked, "Does the challenge Hostage Rescue sound familiar where he used 20000 coins to buy an exemption. Or the Dice Dare challenge where he proved to be very fishy as well with the refusal of his task. Baggage Rescue, he decided to run for his life instead of the two bags Waluigi ultimately rescued."
"Yeah, I guess that does have a thing or two to do with sabotaging…" Rolling her eyes, Daisy then smiled. "Rosie also performed poorly during the Hostage Rescue and Baggage Rescue. She could've done way better in the Charity Raising challenge as well though…"
Daisy: Not until now that I realized that my suspect list could've grown way better than this. To come to think of it, Junior is just as suspicious as Rosie, same with Toadiko, Boo and Paratroopa! I guess it is pretty obvious that anyone could be the Mole. I have been focusing on Rosie so much that I disregarded every single other player that is fishy.
Boomerang: I guess many people had more sabotages than they actually think they did, just like me, for example. During the Hostage Rescue, who was the one that caused the team to lose 5000 instead of earning any? *Laughs*, yeah, of course I could be the Mole.
Junior: I was thinking of walking around the beach near the hotel for a bit, and then suddenly I saw two people chatting, I decided to join them, of course, and that's when I realized they are looking for someone they could trust.
"So let me make this clear, you two are in a coalition and you want me to join?!" Junior asked with surprise.
Toadiko nodded with a smile. "We don't know who to trust, so if you decide that you make a pack with us and swear that you are not the Mole, then we can say that you will not regret your choice."
Boo nodded, "Yep, I think that it would be the best to trust more than less."
"Alright then, count me in!" Junior smirked as the three shook hands together.
"Now, since we eliminated one more suspect," Toadiko continued to smile, "Let us rule out some new ones!"
Toadiko: It is quite nice, I am trying my hardest to help Boo through this episode where he is the only one out of our new coalition to not have an exemption, otherwise he wouldn't have to worry one bit.
Boo: I guess we could try to find potential Mole suspects by slowly ruling out people that we can trust. Junior and Toadiko I both have the tiniest bits of doubts with, but I guess it is only fair to be able to trust them, as they already trusted me.
Junior: Just when I thought that no more alliances will be formed, there is a coalition that allowed me to join in. If Paratroopa and Rosalina decided to have a coalition, and Daisy and Boomerang are in a coalition I know then we are all working with other people. Which would then mean, at least one of us is working with the Mole.
Monty chuckled at the players met him in the lobby. "Players, welcome to your third and last challenge for this episode, it would also be the last challenge for one of you."
Boomerang: Yeah, I guess as people get executed, we will start to pray that it not us to go that night because the amount of actual players are getting smaller and smaller. I hope it's not me tonight, otherwise that would suck, a lot.
"This challenge is called 'Time Capture', but it is quite different from the name. There are three episodes that has already passed by and we made a time capsule for each of them, hidden somewhere inside the hotel." Monty started, "Toadiko, since you will have the special role of this game, you will be the one that selects the teams of episode 1, episode 2 and episode 3 before picking one of your own to join into." Everyone looked at the toad girl, who flinched at all of the gazes.
Toadiko: It is quite a huge responsibility to choose the teams, for all we know this could be the most coins that we could earn yet. For instance, maybe one capsule we retrieve might earn us 10000 or something.
"Junior and Boo, you two will be in… Episode 3." Toadiko decided.
Boo: I'm pretty sure her motive for this is because this episode is the most recent episode that we still remember the most clearly about. Thanks Toadiko, I'm pretty sure that you will join our group.
Toadiko them motioned for Daisy and Boomerang to be finding episode 2's and that leaves Rosalina and Paratroopa to episode 1's before joining Junior and Boo.
"Alright," Monty caught everyone's attention. "This when I say go, you will all find a clue inside the three rooms, Room 001 has episode 1's, Room 002 has episode 2's and Room 003 has episode 3's. You have to bring back to me here in the lobby all three in 1 hour, otherwise no money will be earned. Ready? Go!" Everyone dashed off into the hallway, eager to find their clues.
Woo! Finished with this chapter! I will focus on this Mole story for now because I want to finish it before June and maybe that isn't the wisest deadline. However Saboteur Investigation is already finished, yet this one is only up to the fourth episode, anyways, the next chapter will be the execution! Happy Mole hunting everybody!
