Fiona woke up in a dark room in a bed of some sort. She sat up and noticed that she was no longer in her own clothes, Fiona looked at it and it was, at least what she could tell in the dark, a light cloth with the color blue. Next to the bed was a small table with a vase inside it was a rose in bloom at the base was a small card. Fiona picked up the card, it was made of a thick type of paper. She opened and tried to read it in the near pitch black darkness of the room. A small amount of light emanated from a vitals monitor, which gave only enough light for her to read the card in her hands.

The card said, "I hope you pull through so I can see your smile again and hear that beautiful voice grace my ears again. I love you." At the end it was written in script and right after was Tails' name.

Fiona's heart slowed and she started to smile. Fiona removed the blanket atop her legs and sat with them crossed. As she sat there she noticed a chair next to the door leading out of the room. The chair was occupied by someone but her eyes could not adjust enough to see the face of who was sitting in the chair. She slowly turned to the side of the bed, as Fiona put her feet on the floor the bed let out a loud squeak. The figure in the chair slightly moved and let out a small snore. Fiona paused completely motionless, as a statute. Then the person slumped back down in the chair. Fiona continued to climb off the bed. She stood up and almost lost her balance but didn't fall, her entire body felt sore as she moved silently to the person. He was wearing a military cap with a flag on the front. It was the same flag that Tails had on his uniform. Fiona saw a light switch above his head. She flipped the switch and the lights jumped on, the person in the chair jumped too.

He looked at the bed and jumped up, Fiona could tell it was Tails, then he turned toward the door and he saw Fiona standing with her hands on her hips smiling at him. Fiona wrapped her arms around Tails' neck still smiling.

"I liked your little card over there," she tilted her head toward the table.

Tails said nothing but wrapped his arms around Fiona and he pulled her into a kiss. His action, to Fiona, said more than any words could. Fiona felt the feeling in her legs leave and slightly gave way to her own weight, she let out a small moan as Tails kissed her. The world bled away from them. Their senses only noticed each other; the monitor next to the bed had one line that had three letters in the top left corner which were B.P.S. there were small and large spikes, the rate at which they appeared quickened. After they ended the kiss Fiona nuzzeled into the crook of Tails' neck. A loud buzzing came from the right pocket of his pants. Tails reached with his right hand down into his pocket and pulled out a small black phone and on the screen it said deployment. He tapped a green button on the screen. It said for Tails to go to the hangar bay and report to Harris.

"I have to go, but I don't really want to," he thought to himself, Fiona was looking at him.

"What's wrong?" She asked looking him right in the eyes.

"I have to go to the hangar to see Harris," he said glumly and put the phone in the same pocket.

"Then I'm coming with you," she said stepping back a bit and looked at him with a stern look.

"No, you're staying here," Fiona didn't move, "we need to make sure you're okay."

"I'm fine, so I am coming with you," Fiona was still looking at him with the same expression on her face but she had crossed her arms.

"Okay, your clothes are being washed, so let me get you some," Tails left for only a minute then came back with almost the same thing he was wearing only no name was on it, "I got them in your size, or the size the doc said you were."

Fiona just dropped the patient gown she was wearing and took the clothes from him, she sat the top on the foot of the bed and put on the pants. "So why do you need to go to the hangar?"

Tails looked at her blushing, he started talking with a slight stutter, "I-I need to go there so I can fly a recon plane over a few enemy bases and the freedom fighters base."

Fiona slipped the top on and started to button it up, "I'm still going with you."

Tailed smiled at her as she sat on the foot of the bed and put the khaki boots on, "you're really protective of me aren't you?"

"Well maybe it's in my nature to protect my mate," Fiona tied the boots and put the laces inside the boot.

"Mate?"

"You're mine," Fiona stood up and kissed him, "you're gonna have to get used to it."

Fiona looked at him and she blushed as he smiled at her. Tails decided to help Fiona tuck in her shirt and when she felt his hands on her she blushed even more. Fiona kissed him quickly as he fixed her uniform. Then Tails and Fiona walked out of the room, as Tails walked out of the room he collided with Harris.

"Hey, there you are. I was just coming to get you in case you were..." Harris saw Fiona walk out of the room behind Tails, "Fiona, you finally woke up after a month and you're up and about. I think one of our doctors should check you before you move around too much."

Tails started to speak to Harris, "she won't leave my side and I don't think it would be a good idea to even try."

"I see. Well then let's get you prep-ed for recon mission." Harris was about to walk away when Fiona spoke.

"I want to go with him," she said to Harris making him turn back around.

"Do you know how to fly a plan or operate our surveillance systems?"

"Well can I see what is inside to see if I know?" Fiona asked with a bit of snack in her voice.

They walked down to the hangar bay in which the plane waited and they climbed into the cabin.

"Here is the console for the surveillance systems," Harris pointed to the board with a chair in front of it and on the part that was jutting out, like a black tilted desk, had buttons, dials, screens, knobs, and switches.

Fiona sat down and flipped a couple switches the screens flickered to life. She took hold of a joystick close to a screen and the camera on the belly of the plane moved about then she pushed a button and the screen turned green, all the darker parts of the hangar were now visible. Fiona pushed the same button then the one right next to it. The was now blue with orange, yellow, red, and white where heat was present and it would increase in that order. She turned a knob and sounds from out side the plane could now be heard, a conversation of two engineers came through a little scrambled so she adjusted a few more knobs and it came through crystal clear.

"I wonder how that fox guy is going to fly that plane," one said.

"I got no idea how," Fiona shut all the equipment down and turned to them.

"I think I know how to use this equipment," Fiona said smiling.

"Okay. Take off is in fifteen, so get ready."

The roof over the airstrip split, as it moved dirt and small rocks fell down onto the airstrip. After they were fully open trucks swept the airstrip and cleaned it. Tails did a full check on the engine, flaps, and the flying instruments. Everything was in good working order for a eight hundred year old plane.

"You buckled in?" Tails asked Fiona.

"Yeah I'm strapped in," Fiona had a headset on along with her yellow bow.

Tails flipped a few switches overhead then turned a few knobs; he put on a headset sitting in his pilot's seat in the cockpit and pressed a button on the side of the headset.

"Foxtrot 1-2 waiting for clearance. Did you really have to use that name for my flight signature?"

"Yes, and you're cleared for take off," Tails started take off and it went off without a hitch.

The night sky was clear, the stars were shining and there was not a cloud in the sky. The plane started down the airstrip and a few seconds later the wheels were off the tarmac. Tails retracted the landing gear into the plane. Around fifteen minutes later they were over a base that looked like a fortified bunker.

"All right start surveillance," Tails said to Fiona and she turned everything needed on and started filming the most outer parts of the base to see it's security measures.

"Online, and recording," Fiona said locking onto the base.

A voice came over their headset, "okay we're getting footage."

"What's keeping us from appearing on their screens?" Tails asked pressing the button on the side of the headset.

"The plane has our latest in stealth shielding, it should be very difficult for them to spot you on radar."

"Should?" Tails asked as his heart rate went up fast.

"Well it was made over eight hundred years ago, so it could be out of date because we don't know what's the current type of technology," Harris said through the radio.

"Let's hope I don't get shot down then."

Around twenty minutes had passed and the activity on the base was made minimal until spot lights lit the sky. They were not on target for a minute until one passed the plane. Then, the second that light found them all the others converged onto the plane. The area around the plane was being shelled by anti-air explosive rounds, the plane was shaking as the explosions persisted. The explosions stopped out of nowhere, after they stopped the screens in the cockpit flashed red and they all said in yellow lettering "missile warning" but one screen was not flashing, it showed the area around the plane. Two dots were chasing and closing in on the plane.

"Contact!" Tails yelled and Fiona gripped the seat.

The plane jerked to the left and a glowing light passed the right side and the missile missed only by a few inches. The other slammed into the right wing and the engine shut down as the wing was now on fire. Alarms were blaring and screens were showing damage readouts. The plane started to list to the right as parts were being stripped from its wing. The air was pulling the wing apart as they flew. Two more dots appeared on the screen, then the engine came back to life and control over the plane returned but it was not perfect. Tails pulled up and the plane jerked upward, the change in air flow ripped a chunk of the wing off. An anti-air round ripped through the cockpit. It grazed Tails' arm, then the system shut down again but control over the plane was still present.

"You have to bail!" Tails yelled and Fiona gave him a strange look, "I'll hold the plane and try to land it."

"What?! Are you crazy?!" Fiona yelled over the alarms while clipping on a parachute.

"We don't have many of these planes left." Fiona was looking at him as if he had really lost his marbles.

"It's just a plane."

"A highly advanced plane."

"If you're staying then I am too."

"No you're not!" Tails yelled.

"I'm not leav..."

Please just do as I say! Please..."

"I... okay." Fiona turned to the door then she looked back to him.

"I love you." He said, Fiona ran back to him and kissed him.

"I love you too," then she ran back to the door pulled and lifted the handle.

The door ripped itself away from the plane and a powerful gust of wind went through the plane. Fiona jumped out into a free fall, the hydraulics went out then the engine completely failed. Tails used the manual controls and leveled out the plane. It flew right over knothole, Fiona had pulled the cord for her parachute and she was now watching the plane about to try to land in a field next to knothole. The plane was just clearing knothole as a missile struck the center splitting it in two, it hit the ground with tremendous force spitting up dirt on impact. The plane rolled breaking into pieces, the front end of the plane stopped rolling but it continued to slide slower on its current path. Tears were starting to roll down Fiona's face turning the fur it hit darker. She lightened her pull on the parachute handles and she was descending quickly. The plane had stopped and came to a rest with a large trench behind it. Fiona hit the ground hard but landed correctly diverting pressure from the fall. When Fiona landed she detached the clips and the chute pack fell to the ground. Right at her feet was a lone M16A3 rifle, next to it was a vest with mags of ammo in it. She pulled the vest out from under a part of the plane's wing. Fiona put on the vest and picked up the rifle, she put a mag into the rifle, she pulled a small circle connected to the gun's slide inside of it and a round popped into the chamber. Then Fiona put used the strap on the rifle to put it over her shoulder, Fiona started running full speed toward the wreckage. An engine was next to the right wing of the plane, slowly the blades spun around. The second Fiona ran in front of it the engine started and the blades spun at full speed. The air around Fiona was being pulled violently into the engine's blades, it was pulling Fiona toward them. She fell to the ground gripping the grass feeling herself being pulled across the ground toward the engine that was now on fire from the fuel spraying from the tank.
