Rin woke up surrounded by warmth. He wondered where in gehenna their was a comfortable bed and why he was sleeping in it. He could smell something that was making his stomach growl and sat up. Instantly aware of the lack of a a headache an how the old wound on his stomach merely ached unplesantly, he looked sat up and looked around. The walls of flesh had been replaced by wooden panelling, their was a range of mahogony furniture and two large windows covered with thick black out curtains that left only a few candles to light the room. He immediately looked for some sort of escape route and found a door with two pairs of eyes and one pair of oversized specticals reflecting light looking straight at him. Once their owners realised they had been spotted their was a series of cursing, bangs and jumbled voices and the door exploded inwards and three people clashed to the ground in a messy tangled heap. Rin shuffled away from them, not feeling particularly threterned by the three but still on edge at being in a strange location, and almost slid off the edge of the cloud lile mattress. The three untangled themselves and stood in a line. One was a maid, the owner of the oversized specs he had seen, another was someone why appeared barely older than himself with ginger hair and a straw hat and the other was a burly looking man with a blond hair and stubble looked at him curiously. Before anything could be said the somewhat daunting loom of Sebastian materialised behind them.

"What are you three doing here, don't you have better things to be doing than pestering the young master?" He said slightly amused as the three froze and a blue haze formed over their heads and they all knealt down and practically headbutted the floor and shreik a ststream of barely distinguishable apologies. Sebastian sighed and clapped his hands together, silencing the three.

"Maylene, Finnian, Baldroy, this is Rin Okumura. Rin, meet your servents Maylene, housekeeping, " he inclined at the maid who curtseyed, "Finnian, gardening," the ginger haired boy gave a pleasant smile, "and are chef, Baldroy." The oldest crossed his arms and grunted with a grin. Sebastian walked between the three, now standing straight and watching him, and placed a tray on the cabinet and the tantalising smells Rin had noticed earlier became even more potent, his stomach rumbled painfully. Sebastian chuckled and removed the big silver...thing that was covering the large plate of beacon and eggs. "Alas, a simple breakfast composed of rindless back beacon specially selected for its mother-of-pearl shine and scrambled eggs seasoned with a perfect combination of black peppercorns, fresh chives and parsley accompanied by white, honey sweatened coffee. Bon Appetite." Rin eyed him and the others wearily, uncomfortable under their gaze. Sebaetian must have noticed this as he cleared his throat and sent dismissive look at the others who quickly left and closed the door behind them. Although suspicious that they never moved from just beyond the door, Rin relaxed a little and focused on the butler.

"Whe-"

"This is the Phantomhive manor, England. Todays date is Friday, December 14th, 1888. 7.45am." He said, consulting his pocket watch. Rin's eyes widened with surprise.

"Di-"

"Upon retrieving your sword, your brothers remains and after I rescued you from Satans grasp my plan worked flawlessly, we arrived a few days ago." Rin hadn't heared anything past the mention of his twin and the room phased out of focus. He choked back a sob at the memory.

"W-where is he?" He asked in a small voice. Sebastian pointed at a small round table covered in elaborate black satin which held a beautiful brass urn indinted with elaborate regal looking patterns with a small blank plaque carved into the metal. He could smell

"I thought I'd leave that blank for you to engrave yourself." He said mildly while pushing him against his pillows and setting the tray on his lap. "Now eat, their is much to do. You need to convince everyone that you are a distant reletive of Ciel's as we cannot simply tell all of him businesses associates, lawyers, manufacturers and esoecially not his servants that he is dead. Commit this to memory." Rin listened to his seeming well rehersed speech about him being a dsitant reletive of Ciels while he cleared the plate enthusiastically having not eaten while he was out and for however long before while they where in Gehenna. He let the words sink in while he continued to try and gather his thoughts, everything that had happened was still spijning around in his mind and he couldn't process anything. It wasn't sinking in that Yuki, Izumo an all the others where dead, it was beyond his comprehention that they had not only eluded Satan but escaped his grasp and flown over 100 years into the past and how he would have to quickly adapt to a new identity on the other side of the world, it was more than anyone could handle. A sudden wave of tiredness swept over him an he felt his eyelids drooping involuntarily. He tried drinking his coffee but it did nothing.

"I understand this must be a lot to take in. I'll leave you to rest for now, call me if you require anything." He took the now empty tray and made towards the door, stopping just before he exited flashing a smile. "Just a warning, I can keep the other staff away for a while but they are quite excited to meet you, I cannot gaurentee that they will stay away for much longer."

"How did we get away so easily?" The question left Rins lips before he could stop it. It seemed like a stupid question but it really had been to easy for the all mighty king of gehenna. Sebastians smile faded and his expression turned thoughtful.

"I'm surprised you noticed, as he said himself, his mind had certainly...deteriorated since I last saw him." Rin gritted his teeth at the thought.

"What now? What do we do now? You expect me to just stay here and live like nothing happened!? WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT OF COMING HERE ANYWAY?!" in lost control and screamed at the butler, all restraints broken. He never stopped to question Sebastians actions but what had been the point? He wanted to believe the demon had something more than survival on his mind when they escaped but what else would there be? Sebastian said nothing for a few moments, waiting while Rin took a few shallow breaths in an attempt to calm himself. Regardless of what he thought he was at the demons mercy. To his absolute astonishment and rage, Sebastian laughed loudly for several seconds before grinning smugly.

"I brought us back so we could try again. Satan doesn't know we attacked him in this time as he doesn't have any time control abilities and Samael is hiding away here in assiah so their is no way for him to find out whats going on. In this time we have as long as it takes for you to surpass your father and without the interference of the exorcists and, if you play your role well enough, the protection of Queen Elizabeth herself." Rin mulled that over in his head while staring at the glimmer in Sebastian's eyes, searching for he faintest sliver of evidence to suggest that he didn't actually mean what he said. When he found nothing he nodded and slid into the sheets.

"How long?" He asked, voice blanketed by the wave of sleep that was pulling him.

"However long it takes, it could be 10 years it could be 100 but you will surpass Satan however long it takes. Are only limitation is it must be before we entered gehenna in your time." Rin made a sound in agreement before slipping into a dreamless sleep.

The next week was a blur for Rin. When he had woken up later that first day he was greeted with the curious stares of the 'staff' whom he quickly found to be harmless and fun to be around, although he still found it odd whenever they commented on how kind or how he was a great master he was whenever he showed any signs of concern or offered help when he found Maylene lieing in the hallway surrounded by broken china no doubtedly from the cabinet next to her which was now bare. Finnian who could be heard causing a ruckus in the seemingly endless grounds surrounding the mansion. He had became good friends with Balderoy before he knew it, the completely hopeless chef who frequently emerged from the kitchen covered in burns after attempting to roast something or other with his flamethrower. He had also met the mansions old butler Tanaka, an old and grey man who followed the others as they went on with their duties drinking tea. Their was also the mansions 'guard dog/man' Pluto who seemed to take quite the shine to him from when they very first met. Sebastian had explained that he was a hellhound and it was to be expected, Rin had had a hard time stifling his amusement at the utter look of disgust on his face as Pluto sat in a dog like pose and rubbed his face against hia leg affectionately. The strange selection of staff aside, Rin had been amazed by the size of the mansion. He had wodered the halls time after time with the the servants as they named each room but Rin knew it would be a long time before he could effectlively go somewhere and end up where he had intended to go wkthout taking an hour long detour in the buildings many corridors, floors, atticks and cellars, not to mention all the hidden passageways he was a little reluctant to explore. A few days later he was faced with a flood of business meetings with all sorts of people. He hadn't had the faintest idea of what any of them where talking about but fortunately Sebastian had dealt with everything while pretending that rin couldn't understand English which was only half a lie. Rin only fleetingly picked up bits of infomation and wondered in Ciel had handled all of his himself. Some kf these meetings took place outside of the mansion but Sebastian had gone to see to them alone. He couldn't understand it himself but he didn't want to leave the mansion, evety time he got a little further away from the mansion than usual something in the back of his mind would tell him not to go any further and retreat to the 'safety' of the mansion. Maybe it was some strange phobia he had developed? Who could blame him after everything that had happened. He quickly reqlised that it didn't matter for he had everything he could need or want for in the mansion, Sebastian ensured that his every need was tended to. His first shock of just how far Sebastian would take this being his butler thing was when he started stripping him of his clothes, he had freaked out and panicked a little but had gotten slightly angry by his assumption that he couldn't dress himself but ended up asking for help anyway when not only did his chest ache every time he lifted his arms to high but the many layers of the clothes he was tiven had so many ruffles and bows he had thought he was trying to dress him up in some sort of impossible-to-get-into cosplay. Although the clothes where a little ridiculous he found them to be the norm in this time and, even if he missed plain old jeans and tee, got used to them quickly enough.

Just short of two weeks after coming to this time, Rin was standing in the kitchen arguing with Baldroy as he waved his flamethrower menecingly towards the big piece of beef that sat on the counter while Rin stood defencively in front of it.

"Like hell am I gunna stand by an let you coarcoal good food AGAIN!" He shot, half furiously, half barely containing his laughter at the whole situation. Baldroy gripped the unlit cigarette between his teeth.

"Oh yeah? An who the hell's supposed to be the chef 'round here?" He barked. Rin had been happy when the servants had stopped acting like servants and more like friends but this constant arguing with the so called chef was slowly becoming as irritating as it was amusing and every now an then Rin couldn't help throwing around this so called authority he had even though he never took it seriously.

"You could burn water if you tried! I REFUSE to allow you to obliterate this perfectly good piece of beef!" Baldroy growled a little before sighing and holding his hands up in defeat.

"O'l right O'l right! But I insist that I assist you, Sebastian would have my head if you burned yourself in my kitchen." Rin laughed at the statement and rolled his sleeves back entheusiastically.

"Well its my birthday so I can do whatever the hell I want! An have you ev3r made sukiyaki before?" He asked as he gathered the ingredients from the parlor.

"Who' the hells that when it comes home?" He asked with a grin. Rin rolled his eyes as he chopped carrots and onions with speed and precision. As the chef joined him and followed his instructions Sebastian entered followed with Fin trotting behind him.

"Happy birthday master! What are you guys making?" Fin greeted wih a cheerful smile and a wave. Sebastian frowned disaprovingly.

"Although it is your birthday I most disapprove of you labouring yourself with such things today of all days." Rin mirrored his frown over his shoulder but continued.

"I like cooking. An nobody here knows how to make sukiyaki! Maybe we should find a better chef." He sent a mischevious smile at Baldroy' look of abstract horror.

"Hay-"

"As you wish, mi'lord. Maybe we should replace are gardener and guard dog also since he decided to play fetch with a tree and destroyed half the landscape in the process." When he mentioned Pluto he didn't sound like he was joking. Finnian went pale.

"Stop being mean! An I'm joking Baldroy, even if you can't cook its great watching ypu try." Rin cackled and jumped out of the swinging flamethrowerss reach, laughing at the look of mock fury on Baldroys fave. Even though he never stopped missing his friends from the future and going to cram school an everything that had become normal to him after the old man died, he had found comfort in these moments and the company of the servants made him forget the past/future struggles an he inevitable battle that was yet to come. Their laughter was interrupted when an almighty crash shook the ceiling. Sebastian put a hand to the side of his face and sighed.

"Honestly what has that maid broken this time?" Rin lauhed and ran towards the stairs leading to the grand dining room above torn somewhere between worry for Maylene and want to see what she had managed to destroy without even touching this he reached the double doors that lead in, Maylene was flitting around the room shouting in a panic attempting to clean up the mass of shattered fragments of glass and wood that almost covered the floor that Rin realised used to be the small boat sized chandelier which had fallen from the ceiling and crushed the dining table. He quickly ran over to Maylene, surprising her as she didn't notice him enter.

"Hay, are you Ok?" He asked immediately, noticing the faint smell of blood about her. She froze, face turning a furious shade of red and began bowing repeatedly, uttering a stream of apologies os fast it could have been one word.

"I'm so sorry master, I was trying to dust the chandalier but the ladder I used was breaking and it snapped and I grabbed the chandelier and it snapped and the whole thing came down an I'm sorry master I'm so sorry I wanted to make an extra effort for your part-" she froze mid word and the blood that had rushed to her face drained away as quickly as it had came. Rin narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

"For my part...?" Sebastian, Fin, Baldroy and Tanaka entered the room, all sending looks at the maid.

"What the hell?! It was supposed to be a secret!" Baldroy shot at the frantic maid.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorru! I was just apologising and it accidently slipp-"

"Thats enough Maylene, you may go now." He gave the maid a seductive smile and waved his arm at the mess. "I will clean this up. Finnian, pleae go clean up your mess, Baldroy, please continue your duties but under no circumstances are you to use pyrotechnic weapons. Tanaka, please take the young master to his quaters and Maylene, prepare some tea for the master." He spoke in his usually authoritive tone and Rin frowned. Ignoring Tanaka who attempted to lead hi away he grabbed the brush and shovel Maylwne had dropped and began sweeping up some lf the mess. Sebastian frowned and the servants gasped in horror.

"What? I can help to can't I?" He said a little embarrassed. The room was silent bar the scrape of the glass grazing the floor as rin swept before Sebastian sighed And gave a dark smirk.

"Finnian?"

"Sir!"

"Take Rin to his quaters and don't let him leave until I say so." Without another word, Rin was swept off his feel and thrown over Fins shoulder.

"H-hay what gives? Let me down!" Fin chuckled as he careied him to his room.

"Sorry master, forgive me for this time."

Dining hall restored to its usual glory, food ready to be served and servants no longer causing any trouble, Sebastian opened the door guarded by Finnian and stood opposite a very aggitated Rin who sat with his arms folded in front of a cold cup of untouched tea.

"What the hell was that bout? I was knly trying to help out!" he immediately spat at him. Sebastian gave him a stern look.

"Now I understand that you are used to tending to yourself but right now you are filling in for an earl, a highly respected nobleman air to a long line of aristocrats. If anyone where to see you gallivanting with servants, let alone performing lowly tasks like cooking and cleaning they would suspect you." Rin gave him a frustrated look, obviously trying to find a reason to argue with him but not finding anything so he stuck his nose in the air. Sebastian sighed again. "I know you are used to things like this but you must try harder to play your role." Rin slammed a hand on the table, spilling some of the wasted tea.

"Stop calling them lowly jobs! I was only trying to help!"

"I understand master, but if you want to stay here you will have to start acting more apropriately." Rin huffed and looked away, mumbling something profane under his breath. "Anyway, onto more important matters. We should struse you up a little, your guests await" the bluenettes ears twitched and he turned narrowed eyes at him.

"What guests?"

" For your birthday party, what else?" Rin's eyes widened in surprise.

"I don't really want a party, it feels wrong celebrating at all w-without..." he trailed off as his eyes edged over to the brass urn that now bore the kanji;

-Yukio Okumura-

-Beloved brother and teacher-

-27.12.1995 - 16.9.2011-

Rin gulped and turned back to him with a half curious look. "What do you mean guests? I don't know anyone here apart from you guys." Sebastian chuckled as he forced the master to his feet by his collar and started straightening his crinkled clothes persistently. He picked a smartly tailored navy jacket adorned with silver embroidary and a matching top hat. Rin scoffed at the gsrments as he braught them to him but he put them on without resisting.

"I invited a few friends to celebrate. After this we shall emerse areselves into your training. I hought it apropriate to give you some time to gather yourself before bringing it up but as I already mentioned, it could take decades for you to master yourself and the longer we delay, the closer we get tp are deadline." Sebastian saw whatever emotion the master had held drain away at the mention. His eyes fell to the floor and his expression turned brooding but he didn't say anything. Once satisfied, Sebastian have a hint of a smile and lead Rin out of his room. "Forget everything for today and try to enjoy yourself." He lead him and Fin who walked a few places behind Rin to the foyer. Standing by the balcony Sebastian cleared his throat loudly at the small crowd below which immediately fell silent.

"Ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for coming this momentous occasion. Here I give you, Lord Okumura!" His words where greeted with applause and he stood aout the way so Rin could walk down the side stairs to the main stairway. When he got to the top step he froze as his eyes focused on the faces of the crowd bellow.

"Such a delight to see you so wwell dressed for once little bro- I mean Lord Okumura. Splendid!" Rin's brooding expression disspeared and his jaw hit the floor.

"MEPHISTO?! What are-"

"Brotheeeeeeerrr!"

"AMAIMON?!"

"Pardon me my young lord, but it is good to see you got home in tact, I must say the hall of cinematic records is in a pretty sorry state in the future-"

"Undertaker, you're alive?! How the hell did you make it back here?!" He was about to say something when his eyes fell on a particular red clad figure.

"YOU!" He yelled at the top of his lungs in absolute fury. His flames burst out around him and he dived toward the reaper in blind fury with all the grace of a fish out of water, a very deadly, sharp clawed fish out of water. This certainly was going to be a party to remember Sebastian mused, watching as the blue and red blurs clashed and the onlookers applauded in amusement.
