CHAPTER ELEVEN
"You know, just because you guys kissed doesn't mean everything is going to be all fine and dandy."
"I know," Magda said as she took a bite of cereal. Isaac was still fast asleep in bed, while she and Cora were eating breakfast. "But can't you just let me enjoy it a little bit?"
"You're still kind of technically dating Aiden," Cora added.
"I know," Magda groaned. "I'm actually running late for my run with him, so I'm gonna jet."
"And leave Isaac in bed sleeping?" Cora teased. "Didn't know you were the kiss and run… to go kiss and run another guy."
"You're such a bitch sometimes," Magda said as she put on her running shoes and headed towards the door.
"Love you too!"
"Hey Aiden, let's take a quick break," Magda said as they stopped by the river.
"Sure," Aiden said. "Wanna make out against that tree?"
"Tempting," she started, "But I need to talk to you about something."
"That doesn't sound good for me," Aiden said.
"Isaac finally confessed his feelings for me last night," Magda told him, feeling her face warm, not beating around the bush. "And we kissed. A lot."
"Told you it wouldn't be good for me," Aiden grumbled. He pursed his lips. "So… are you two together now then?"
"Not exactly?"
"So you're still single?" Aiden asked.
"Technically," Magda answered. Aiden paused for a moment before nodding to himself.
"Alright," he said finally. "Ready to finish our run?"
Magda chased after him, confused. "You took that surprisingly well."
"You're not his girlfriend," Aiden pointed out. "You're still fair game."
"Aiden," Magda said. "I told you from the beginning how I felt about Isaac."
"I know," Aiden said. "But I like you. I genuinely really like you, Magda."
Magda couldn't help but smile fondly at him.
"And I know that even though you've been head over heels for Lahey, you have to admit that you were starting to like me too."
"Aiden…"
"Don't worry," he interrupted. "I understand if you want to stop what we were doing… The kissing and stuff. I'll miss it, but I get it. You like Lahey. He's always been the goal."
"Thank you," Magda said.
"But if you think I'm gonna let you go that easily, you don't know me," Aiden added with a smirk. They arrived back in front of the Hale loft.
"I'm glad that Lahey is finally starting to see how great you are," he told her, touching her face affectionately. "But don't forget who knew it all along."
"Oh, hey, Isaac," Magda greeted evasively as she entered the loft.
"Good morning," Isaac said sheepishly.
"I'm running a bit late, so I'm gonna shower and just meet you guys at school, alright?" Magda said as she avoided both Cora and Isaac's gaze.
"Alright," Cora called after her with a smirk. "I guess your run didn't go that well."
Magda ignored her as she grabbed her things and headed into the shower.
"Okay, so you were totally avoiding Isaac this morning when you got back from your run," Cora said as she met Magda at her locker. "What happened on your run?"
"I told Aiden what happened," Magda said. "And he took it surprisingly well."
"Really now?" Cora asked. "Are we talking about the same big, scary, blue-eyed homicidal twin werewolf?"
"And I guess when I say he took it well, I mean that he focused on the fact that Isaac and I are not an official couple," Magda continued as she pulled out her books. "And that he could tell that I had started to genuinely like him too, and that he wasn't going to let me go that easily."
"That sounds more like the Aiden we all know and often hate," Cora said. "But that still doesn't really explain why you were acting so weird this morning."
Magda closed her locker, leaned against it, and sighed. "It's just… Aiden made a good point. I have grown to like him. A lot, actually. And Isaac and I don't know what we are. And like you said, just because we kissed last night doesn't mean everything is a fairytale ending."
"You sound way more confused than ever," Cora pointed out.
"Now you know why I was avoiding Isaac," Magda said.
"You're going to have to face him eventually," Cora said.
"I know, I know…"
"Speaking of…"
"Hey," Isaac said as he approached the girls. "I was hoping I could talk to you."
"I actually have to get to homeroom," Magda tried to evade.
"Hey, Magda, I got you a coffee, I know everything that happened recently must have taken a lot out of you," Aiden said approaching the group. He nodded at the other two werewolves. "Cora, Lahey."
"Thanks, Aiden," Magda smiled at him.
"So I hear that you're not letting up on your pursuit of my dear friend Magda here," Cora said, grinning wickedly. Isaac raised a brow and looked at Magda, who was turning a light shade of red.
"I mean, with a beautiful and strong girl such as Magda, would you?" Aiden smiled back. "After all, from what I hear, she doesn't have a boyfriend yet, right?" He looked directly at Isaac as he asked this.
"Correct," Isaac replied evenly. "Magda is her own person and can do as she pleases."
"Well if it so pleases the pretty lady, I'd like to walk you to class," he said to Magda.
Magda sent a quick look at Isaac, whose face revealed no emotion. "We'll talk later?" she asked timidly.
"Yeah," Isaac forced a smile. "Talk later."
Aiden grinned as he threw an arm around Magda's shoulders and led her away.
"Oh, come on, Isaac," Cora groaned. "Grow a pair. You've finally admitted feeling something for Magda. And she clearly likes you. So are you really going to just let Aiden walk all over you?"
"I can't tell her what to do," Isaac shrugged.
"But you can convince her," Cora urged. "Show her that you actually do care. Aiden isn't afraid of proving to her how he feels. And for a girl like Magda, who's never felt special or loved before she came here, that probably feels like a miracle." Her voice softened. "If you want to be with her, you need to show her. Or she'll think last night was just a fluke. Was it?"
