Trevor Yaksin's POV

Three days. Three days in training and I haven't found one thing that I'm good at. I've tried everything from archery to fire building, only to be met with failure. I was the laughing stock of the tributes. First of all, I am twelve, so of course I'm not favored to win. But also, I'm horrible at everything. No one has asked me to be in an alliance with them. Not even the other twelve year old from District Eleven, who's almost as talentless as me. Every day at lunch I would sit alone while all of the packs huddled up, gossiping about the other tributes.

However, today was the worst. Instead of going unnoticed by the older tributes, one of the careers, the stocky one with the short brown hair, I believe his name was Marble, walked over to me and threw his tray full of spaghetti at me. The bowl of pasta made a splat as it landed on my blue sweatshirt. The other tributes laughed as someone lobbed their applesauce at my face. All of a sudden, food comes flying at me from all directions. From pudding to pasta, I was a target for everything.

The laughter was deafening and my eyes began to water. Before they could get the satisfaction of seeing me cry, I rush out of the cafe and sink into a corner and begin to sob. I will never be a victor, nobody likes me. Even the mentors, escorts, and stylists look at me as if I'm a lost cause. I know that I need to prove myself, but how? Maybe I could try again with the weapons, see if I have somehow improved overnight in my skills.

The dismissal bell rings as the other tributes pour out of the dining all, still laughing and chattering about the food fight. I quickly wipe the tears from my eyes as I stand up and wander to a weapons station. Swords, they seem easy enough. However, I know that I wouldn't be alone at the station. Phan, Jazmine, and Scarlett were there too. Though, I know that they wouldn't be paying any attention to me, as they were to focused on their own training. I choose a nice looking sword, it has a gold hilt and the blade is a polished silver. It looks like one of those swords from one of those knight fairy tales.

I reach over it pick it up, but I find that I can even lift its weight. I try another sword, but the results are the same. I hear snickering behind me as I fail to lift another sword. Fed up, I abruptly turn around speed away from the swords. Not even noticing where I'm going, I find myself at the knot tying station. I grab at a small piece of rope and try to tie a square knot. However, in my stress and rage, I keep on messing up, getting the rope in tangles. I bang my fist on the table as I fail to untangle the rope. I give a cry of frustration as my anger finally gets the best of me. Giving off a grunt, I lift up the table and flip it over to the other side of the station. Whatever, maybe I'm just not meant to win these games.

Gertrude Chambers' POV

After an exhausting day of nonstop training, I trudge up to the elevator that will take me up to my room. I'm followed by Justice, Athena, and Hayden who had also just wrapped up training for the day. Tomorrow is going to be the day when we show one of our skills to the game makers for our ratings. I press the Five button while the Six and the Eleven buttons are being pressed too. The four of us ride in silence as we get of at our stops. As I hop of at the fifth floor, I find that Dannin has beat me. She is already at the massive dining table munching on a gourmet capital meal.

"Hey Gertrude. I need to talk to you," she tells me.

"What is it?" I ask. I'm shocked, Dannin has barely spoken a word to me since our arrival at the capital.

"I'm getting a pack together, an alliance, and I was wondering if you wanted to join?" She asks, hopefully. I can't believe it! I'm not going to be alone, after all.

"Sure, who's in it?"

"Lacey from Three and Justice from Six," she tells me. I've seen those two around. Lacey's always showing of her lassos, but I'm not exactly sure what Justice does. But I guess I will get to know those two much better, now that we are an alliance.

Suddenly, my mentor, Hermia, bursts in through the door.

"Alright, time to talk about tomorrow. What are you going to show the game makers?" she asks, frazzled.

"I'll be doing knife throwing, I think. But I don't know if it will be enough," Dannin says.

"I think I'll work with weights, I guess. I'll probably wing it," I respond.

"In two nights, the training scores will be available for all of Panem to see. This will greatly impact the amount of sponsors you'll get, so make sure you try your best," Hermia tells us. She is always worrying about everything and it's kind of getting on my nerves. She continues with her speech, but I drown her out. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

I'm not sure how I'll be doing the game maker sessions, whether I'll do everyone or just a few. If I do everyone, it could take a while and I really want it get to the arena. Thirty chapters and we're not even at interviews yet. Please leave suggestions in the reviews!

What are the names if Rora's three dogs?
