Hey everyone! Thank you for all the favs, alerts, and reviews! Sorry that it's been a month since I laso updated, lots of things have been going on in real life so that's been taking up my time besides school. I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues lately so that's been taking up most of my time. So once again, sorry for the delays D: From what some of the reviews said for the last chapter, some of you are worried Finchel won't get back together before the baby is born. Don't worry, they will!
Like I said in the sneak preview for this chapter, there's a two month time jump from when they broke up to now.
I don't own Glee. I only own the character Cory Hudson.
Enjoy!
"Rachel, will you be okay by yourself today?" Santana asked as she struggled to get her hair up in a bun. Rachel heaved herself off the couch to help her friend out, and once her mission was accomplished she went back to her seat.
"For the one hundredth time, yes, I'll be okay," she answered. "You've asked me every day since you've moved in before you leave for work. And yes, I have lots of things to occupy my time while you're not here. I have more free time now that I'm not in college anymore." Rachel hated the fact that she dropped out of college, but there was too much going on in her personal life for her to be focusing on school work. Two things made her feel better about her decision though; she got to focus on Cory more and her idol, Barbra Streisand herself didn't attend college.
"Alright Rachel. See ya later. Should I pick up takeout or something?"
"Yes please, I'll call you later and see what the baby's craving," she smiled before she watched her friend exit the home. Cory was sleeping at the moment, so now she was all alone. All through high school, Rachel was used to being lonely, so this was nothing new.
The only difference between then and now was that this felt so much worse.
-more-than-words-
Finn's cellphone started blasting "Don't Stop Believin', and it woke him up from his nap. He groaned once he saw it was Sam who was calling him; he was tempted to just let it go to voice-mail. It might have been important though, so he regrettably answered the phone.
"Hello," he said with a groggy tone.
"Finn, did you forget that there's glee club after school today?" Sam asked.
He looked at the clock next to his bed, and it was three in the afternoon. "Must of."
"Well, get down here as soon as you can before Sue tells us to leave. See ya," and the phone hung up on the other line. Ever since Mr. Schuester was on the Blue Ribbon Panel for show choirs, he had asked Finn to take care of the glee club for him until he could come back. Now, every Monday and Wednesday, he'd tend to the glee club after school while the rest of the week he went in during school hours. He had talked to his professors about the days he'd missed, and they let him have those days added to his credits as long as he was able to keep up with the rest of the class. And so far, there hadn't been a problem.
As he tied his shoes, his phone went off again. Finn quickly grabbed it and hoped it was Rachel. Unfortunately, it wasn't her, but the Caller ID intrigued him.
It was Olivia.
They hadn't spoken since Jack's death, mainly because she had been skipping school and was barely there. He answered it to hear her sigh.
"Hello?"
"Hi Finn," she said in a wispy tone.
"Hey," he replied. "How are -"
"I'm going to say something. and I'm only going to say it once. Finn, I'm transferring schools and I'm going back home for school. There's too much to deal with without Jack here. Goodbye Finn, I won't forget you," and the line went dead. Olivia was leaving? It was shocking to hear her say that, but at the same time it wasn't. Going home was going to be a good thing for her, though.
This would probably make Rachel happy too, that is if they even talked to each other. They hadn't spoken since the day the engagement was called off. Every day however, he waited to hear his phone go off and see Rachel's name on the screen. And every time it didn't his heart broke. Why did he have to be so stupid?
Once Finn arrived at his former school, he made his way to the choir room and found everyone laughing and telling stories. They reminded him so much of the glee club he had for three years, and he missed to so much.
"You're here!" Sam exclaimed as he ran over to his friend to give him a big hug. Finn did the same, hugging everyone individually before telling everyone to sit down.
"So, what's going on here?" he asked.
"Sectionals is next week, so we were wondering if you could help us out with one last homework assignment before we win Sectionals the fourth year in a row," Artie explained.
"Alrighty. How about duets? They're nice, and the winners get to sing at Sectionals," he proposed. Everyone agreed with his idea, but they didn't seem all that satisfied.
"Why don't you show us what you're thinking of?" Marley asked quietly. This was the first time he had encountered Marley since watching her at the school's musical: Grease.
"How? I mean, I can't really do a duet by myself...except Kurt did it our junior year and that was awesome," his mind drifted off into thinking about that performance. It snapped out of it once he heard a familiar voice.
"You know, it's really hard walking around when you're eight months pregnant. What is it -" Rachel froze once she saw Finn, and he did the same. She looked the same since he saw her in September; beautiful and everything else he loved about her. The only difference was that her pregnant belly had gotten bigger. "Hello Finn."
"Hey."
"You two ok?" Artie asked. Oh yeah. The only one in the choir room that knew about the break up was Blaine since him and Kurt were still together when Finn and Rachel broke up.
"Yeah, we're fine. I'm just a little bit moody today," she said with a smile. "Cory's with Santana right now, so there's no need to worry about him."
"That's good. Anyways, the guys wants us to sing a duet for them for their assignment this week to get inspiration," he explained.
"I have the perfect song in mind then," the brunette walked over to the guitar player and whispered in his ear. "Hit it."
Rachel:
Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cause I'd already know
Rachel and Finn:
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
Finn:
Now I've tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close don't ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know
Rachel and Finn:
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
The New Directions applauded the duet, and Finn took a bow. He looked over at Rachel, and took a bow just for her since it was hard for her to do. Once they were done clapping, she mouthed him a thank you. Maybe this week's assignment would help them work things out.
Song used:
More Than Words - Extreme
Sorry this isn't the best chapter. I really wanted to updated this for you guys since it's been almost two months.
So, do you think this is a big step for Finchel, or do you think they still have a long way to go before they get back together again? Post what you think in your review!
Coming up in chapter 24: Sectionals! Some familiar faces return, and they all find out what happened between Finn and Rachel.
