Lacey Gage's POV
Today is the day, the day when twenty four tributes go into an arena and only one comes out. Out of my alliance with Justice, Dannin, and Gertrude, three or more of us will die. I honestly just want to go home and forget that all of this is happening.
I lay in bed, covered completely by a heavy comforter, not wanting to get up. However, my stylist, Astrid, bursts through the door, chirping away about how excited I should be for today. Ha! She doesn't know what it feels like to be forced to kill for entertainment.
"Here's what you are going to be wearing, Lacey," Astrid hands me a familiar outfit.
"Why are you giving me my interview outfit? I wore this last night." Something is definitely wrong as I'm now holding my orange and gold ombré gown.
"I was instructed by Jayla MacKenzie that you must wear this dress in the games. All of the tributes have to," she smiles at me innocently. She probably thinks that it's going to be hilarious watching us all stumble around in high heels and puffy dresses. She doesn't know that this could cost some of our lives.
"Why did you pick this one!?" I scream angrily. Of all of the dresses in the world, she picked a tight dress with a pencil skirt. It was hard enough walking in that thing, now I have to fight with it?
"Please, I didn't know. If I did, it would have been different. Trust me, please!" Astrid pleads with me. Reluctantly, I give in. But these games are going to be the worst ones ever.

Trevor Yaksin's POV
After bidding farewell to my stylist, I slowly walk into the tube that would take me into the arena. My arm is still aching from where the tracker was put in, but I try to ignore it. The heat in the waiting room is unbearable in my fancy blue jacket and black pants from the interview.
When the tube starts to rise, I wave goodbye to Kronos and enter the arena.
Surrounded by the twenty three other tributes, I take a look around the arena. The cornucopia is a shining silver filled with weapons and other survival tools. The surroundings aren't much different from where I've spent the last week. In fact, it's almost exactly the same as the capital. There are skyscrapers and lights and billboards everywhere. However, in the distance, the areas are diverse. To my far right, it appears that there are grain fields. To my left, there are industrial factories and cars and buses. It looks just like home! I notice some of the other tributes' emotions when they realize what the arena is. Some of them nearly jump for joy at the familiarity. Meanwhile I notice some teary eyes of homesickness.
I eye the items at the Cornucopia. I don't think I need a weapon, but maybe a survival pack would work. Therefor, I decide to go for a red backpack about thirty feet away.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5.
Get ready...
4, 3, 2, 1...
I launch myself off the platform and sprint towards the backpack. Unfortunately, I'm not fast enough. The District Eleven girl, Athena, has already grabbed it. I look frantically for another pacI, only to come face to face with Scarlett Spears, who already has a bow and arrow. Knowing that this is the end, I see her aim and fire. Everything goes black.
Heaven LaFratta's POV
I'm running as fast as I can in my high heels and black dress. Everyone looks so strange, running around in their gowns and suits. I have already grabbed a water bottle and a backpack and now I'm running for my life towards what seems to resemble District Ten. As my feet carry me as quickly as they can, I suddenly feel my ankle jerk to the side and I fall to the ground.
Knowing that I'm now a sitting duck, I try to get back on my feet but I'm too late. Edward, the boy from District Three has already caught up to me. He lifts his knife and I shut my eyes as I feel a stinging pain in my right arm. I brace myself for the end, but suddenly, it stops. I open my eyes to see two things.
First, I see Freaton running towards me, probably to save me from Edward. I hardly know the kid, but he seems ready to risk his life for me. I watch as he sprints towards me, ready to take Edward on. However, his run is cut short as Mace Tomahawk strikes him with his sword and my district partner falls to the ground.
I look up to see Edward about to finish me off, but instead he slumps over. Behind him is my friend James, holding his trident high in the air. That's at least two people dead, and I will probably become a third. My last thought before I slip into darkness is James Brooks and his big blue eyes. Goodbye James, I love you...
Phan Reska's POV
After breaking grabbing a variety of weapons and tools with Natasha and Alex, I sprint away to find a member of my "alliance" to finish off. Clutching my mace, which I have finally mastered the use of, I turn to see Rye Fields running away. Before he can get away or let Hayden or Alex know what I'm up to, I run towards him.
He rounds the corner of the Cornucopia and I launch forward and tackle him. Then, bracing myself for what is to come, I strike the final blow.
When I'm finished, I run back around to meet with the others pretending that nothing has happened.
"Where's Rye?" Hayden asks me.
"I don't know. The careers probably got him," I lie. I turn to Natasha and give her a nod. She winks at me in return, understanding what I did.
"So what did everyone get?" Alex asks.
"I have four throwing knives, a tarp, and an empty water bottle. You, Hayden?" Natasha responds.
"I got a rope and a small axe," he responds, showing off his loot.
"A sickle, matches, full water bottle, and a fishing rod," Alex says blankly.
"I went to the very center and got a mace, a few energy bars and three knives," I say. However, I leave out the fact that I also managed to grab a vial of poison, which could come in handy.
"Alright, everyone, I think we should clear out and make camp in one of the 'districts'," Natasha suggests.
Hayden chimes in, "Let's go to Eleven, since I'm familiar with it."
Even though we wanted to go to Ten or Seven, we don't argue with him. Besides, he know has a little while left to live.
Starr Lynan's POV
I stand in the outskirts of the cornucopia, waiting for Natasha, Alex, Hayden, and Phan to leave. When they finally depart, I survey the surroundings, counting the fallen tributes. I see seven of the twenty four originals on the ground. One of them is Heaven, the girl that I was instructed to kill.
When she tripped on her heels, I was about to make my way over to her and finish her off, but Edward beat me to her. However, my plan is to pretend that I'm the one who killed her and still be accepted into the pack.
Mace comes out from behind a building and meets me.
"Did you get her?" He asks, preparing to kill me if I say no.
"Yes, I got her," I show him the army knife that I found in among the loot.
"Good, now come with me. Remember, do exactly as I do," he leads me to the building in District One, where the other careers have already set up camp.
"Well, it seems that we've lost Heaven, but I've found a replacement!" Mace announces to the four other careers.
"That girl from District Nine? Can she even fight?" Crystal asks Mace.
"I've seen her in the Training Centre and I'm sure she'll be just fine. By the way, I got rid of that Freaton kid from District Twelve!" He tells everyone.
Marble chimes in with his accomplishments, "I killed the boy from Five."
But we are all surprised when twelve year old James says, "And got the boy from three!"
Suddenly, we are interrupted by cannon fire.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
After the cannons, everything goes silent. The careers don't notice anything wrong, but I do.
I counted seven fallen tributes at the Cornucopia. There were only six cannons. One of them survived.
A/N
The games have begun! What did you think about them having to fight in their interview outfits? Also, one of the seven fallen, has survived! Which one though? You'll find out in the next chapter!
Here are the tributes that Starr thought were dead. One is still alive.
24. Trevor Yaksin, District Six
23. Heaven LaFratta, District Twelve
22. Freaton Gefle, District Twleve
21. Edward Gear, District Three
20. Rye Fields, District Nine
19. Astar Fiew, District Eight
18. Gertrude Chambers, District Five
I will update/ change the list in the next chapter. I'll also add how they died and where they placed. Since only six died in the bloodbath, there will be more in the first day.
Trivia: Name three tributes who were considered threats in the interviews, three non threats, and one possible threat!
Thanks and please review!
