Hey everyone! Here's chapter 35! Thank you for all the reviews on the last one; they help me continue on. As you can see, there's only five chapters left in this fanfic before the third one! Now what drama could possibly happen in the next five chapters before the third fic in this series? You'll just have to read and find out!
By the way, if you read my other fanfic Outnumbered, don't worry, I'll be updating it soon! I just have more muse for More Than Words than Outnumbered right now.
I don't own Glee. The only characters I own are the Cory and Anthony Hudson.
Enjoy!
"Regionals is gonna be awesome!" Finn exclaimed as he paced around the living room, waiting for Rachel to finish getting ready. When the New Directions won Sectionals, he agreed to help them out again for their Regionals competition. He thought they chose some pretty good songs that fit the "Dream" theme and everyone's voices. Finn chose a song for the guys to sing, the girls to sing, and an original song that Marley wrote.
"It'll be nothing like the Regionals our sophomore year though," Rachel said as she came into the room with Cory and Anthony. "Isn't that right Cory?"
"Huh?" Their son asked, and they snickered under their breath. One day he would get to hear the story of how Cory arrived into the world.
"That day will certainly be one to remember," he kissed Rachel on the cheek, knowing it was the day that brought them together as a family.
"So when do the New Directions go on?"
"They're going on after The Hoosierdaddies. I'll be in the audience with you and the kids watching, and let me tell you The New Directions are going to kill it," he beamed with Glee. Rachel was really happy to see him so...well happy. Teaching was obviously his calling, and if he was teaching the New Directions and it made him happy she was glad to see him accomplish his dreams.
"Let's get going! We don't wanna be late!" he hurried towards the door, and the four of them hopped in their car and drove off to the school. Once they got there they were just in time for the show circle. Will was there waiting for them to arrive, and he gave both of them a hug when they walked in.
"Everyone, please give a warm welcome for Finn, Rachel, Cory, and Anthony!" they all did, and the couple was surprised to see Kurt and Santana there, who came to give them a warm welcome as well.'
"Auntie Snixx and Unka Kurt!" Cory greeted them.
"Oh my god Kurt, you didn't tell us you were coming!" Rachel was shocked.
"We wanted to surprise you two," he said.
"You would not believe what it's like living with the Queen of England. Everything has to be well kept and nice. I can't even leave a tissue somewhere without him yelling at me for it," she groaned.
"Well, maybe if you picked things up once in awhile then I wouldn't complain," he snapped.
"Please guys, don't fight," Finn told them, and before they opened their mouths they stopped.
"Fine, we won't yell in front of the kids," she agreed and he nodded his head too. They were about to walk away when Will called for a show circle.
"Alright guys, I decided to let Finn say his words since he was mainly here helping you guys while I was away in D.C. Finn, you have the floor."
Will never told him he would give a speech, but he was cool with it. "I promised you all that when we won Sectionals, we'd win Regionals and then Nationals. I guarantee all of you that this afternoon, we will be a three time winning Regionals team. And then in May, we will go on to Nationals in Los Angeles and win our second title there. Everyone's hard work and dedication is what's going to let us win tonight. Let's go New Directions!"
They all put their hands in a circle, and lifted their hands into the air when Cory said. "Wegionals!" It made everyone laugh, and it gave them an extra boost of confidence.
-more-than-words-
Rachel sat on an aisle seat with Anthony's carrier next to her, Cory next to him, and Finn sandwiching them together on the other end. He wanted to be in the audience with her since she had their two boys with them. She looked at the program she was given at the beginning of the show and a smirk appeared on her face.
"Ohh, so these are the songs they are going to sing," she said while looking at him.
"The secret's out. I wanted you to find out as the competition went on but I guess that didn't happen," he admitted while playing along.
"At least the songs are good and you didn't chose something outlandish for a show choir competition. The songs should be well known but not over the top," Rachel explained while reading over the songs again.
"When this over?" Cory questioned.
"It'll be over soon Bud, don't worry," Finn told his son as the curtains opened up again for the New Directions to sing. The audience clapped as it revealed the boys standing on the stairs of the stage.
Blaine: I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Sam: Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
Jake: I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Ryder: Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"
Artie: One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
Joe: And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
New Directions Boys: I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you're gone there was never
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Joe and Artie with New Directions Boys: It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Ryder: Revolutionaries wait
Jake: For my head on a silver plate
Sam: Just a puppet on a lonely string
Blaine: Oh who would ever want to be king?
New Directions Boys: I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
(Ryder): Woahahahah oh, (Joe): woahahah oh
(Jake): Woahahahah oh, (Blaine): woahahah oh,
(Sam and Artie): Woahahahah
New Directions Boys: I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world
Everyone showed their appreciation for their performance for one of Coldplay's more known songs. Rachel thought they did a good job, and looking at Finn and the sparkle in his eyes she could see he was so proud of them. The girls took the stage, and the beat began. IT grabbed her attention since she had heard the sound before and loved it.
Marley: Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
Tina: And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm

What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on her word

And she's looking at me
Marley: I can see her eyes looking from the page of a magazine
She makes me feel like I could be a tower
Tina and Unique): A big strong tower
The power to be

A wonderful rendition of Suddenly I See, from one of Rachel's favorite moves The Devil Wears Prada, she applauded the girls a little louder since she liked it better. The guys returned to the stage; it was time for their final piece. Blaine and Marley reminded her of her and Finn when they were in the New Directions. She wondered if they got the same type of excitement she got when we performed live in front of a large crowd.
Marley (and Blaine): I can't stay here
I am not the girl who runs and hides
Afraid of what could be
And, I will go there
I need time, but know that things are
Always closer than they seem
Now I'll do more than dream, yeah
(I'm gonna fly)
(Gonna crash right through the sky)
Marley (Blaine): Gonna touch the sun (Touch the sun)
Show everyone (Show everyone)
That it's
Blaine and Marley: All or nothing
All or nothing
This is my life
I'm not gonna live it twice
Marley (Blaine): There's no in-between (No in-between)
Take it to extremes (To extreme)
'Cause it's
Blaine and Marley: All or nothing
All or nothing
Marley: Or nothing at all
Blaine: I can't give up
Can't just let it burn
And watch the fire
I started turn to dust (Marley: Yeah...)
Blaine and Marley: And now, please don't judge me
Take my hand and say
You'll always wish me well
And send me luck
(Blaine: 'Cause that would)
Be enough, yeah!
I'm gonna fly
Gonna crash right through the sky
Marley (Blaine): Gonna touch the sun (Touch the sun)

The auditorium stood up to give them a standing ovation for their final song. Even Cory was cheering from his seat in a quiet and polite manner. One of the judges; the Executive Director of Ohio State Supermax Penitentiary Warden William Bobby came up to the microphone with a small index card in hand.
"Mr. Shafranski, Lady Marvelous and I will be deciding the winner now. We will return shortly," and he left the stage in a rush. Now was the hard part; waiting anxiously for them to come back and declare the winner.
"Leave now?" Cory asked.
"Not yet Cory, we have to see who the winner is and then we can go home," Rachel said.
"I hungry."
"Here Cor," Finn pulled out a pack of fruit snacks that he must have kept in his pocket for him, since she realized she forgot to bring snacks for Cory. Well, Finn remembered so that was all that mattered. "We totally won. We were so better than the others. If we didn't win there must be somethign wrong with the judges' heads."
"Finn," Mr. Schuester came to greet them. "We'd like you on stage when they present the winner. Do you mind?"
Finn looked at Rachel, wondering if he should leave them to be up there with the group. "Go, I'll be fine."
"Thanks," he said as he left his seat to join his former teacher. It was a long fifteen minutes, but she had the company of her children to keep her company while they waited.
"When I wuled the wowld," Cory sung to himself, which caused Rachel to giggle.
"One day you'll be just them them Cory. You have vocal talent in your blood," he didn't seem to react to when she said that, but one day it would mean something.
"Attention everyone," the crowd became focused on the judges. "Third place will go to... The Waffletoots!"
They were given their trophy, and they continued on, "And first place will go to...the New Directions! Congratulations! You're going to Nationals in Los Angeles!"
Confetti blasted into the air as they got their trophy, and they all jumped up and down with delight from their win. They had won their third Regionals!
"Go New Diwections!" Cory exclaimed while Rachel held him in the air. She looked down at Anthony and was amazed he was still asleep with all the loud cheering going on around them. Her two children made the experience better for her, because she had no idea what she'd do without them.
Songs used:
Viva La Vida - Coldplay. Performed by the New Directions Boys
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall. Performed by the New Directions Girls
All or Nothing - Glee. Performed by Blaine and Marley with the New Directions
I used two different songs, but I stuck with All or Nothing cause it was a good song for the dream theme. What do you think of the songs I picked? Post what you think in your review!
Coming up in Chapter 36: Finn and Rachel go on their first date in a long time to reconnect more. How will it go? Find out in the next chapter!
