Games Day Three

Mace Tomahawk's POV

"I can't believe they fell for it! One dead and one ran away! They're so stupid. I can't believe they fell right knot our trap," I say.

"So who do you want to target next?" Marble asks me.

"Scarlett and Jazmine. They're the only real threats now," I respond. Our original targets, the outer district pack, were pretty much taken care of. Since their leader, the girl from Ten, died last night, they didn't really pose a threat anymore.

" Alright, then. Sounds great. I'll take Seven. You take the other one. Deal?" Marble asks.

"Deal."

We pack up all of our stuff, which we had scattered around for safety, and head out. But not before we hear the ringing bells of sponsorship. I quickly rush over to the package, which, unfortunately didn't have my name on it. It belongs to Marble.

"Hey Marble! It's for you."

"Cool," he says as he takes the large pack in his hands. He quickly rips open the silver canister and carefully takes out the contents. In his hand is a sword. But not just any sword, a katana. He takes a few test swings with it, then he slips it into his pack, with the black handle sticking out.

"Alright, you've had your fun. Let's go," I say, glad that we will be able to make good time, now that we don't have to babysit those little kids anymore.

Alex Trent's POV

It's been over a day and I still can't get over the murder of my sister. She was my only real friend and the reason I volunteered. My only mission was to protect her. Now I have failed. It's all Phan's fault. I never thought that he would murder her if he found out the plan. I just assumed that he would run away or something. She shouldn't have gone so violently. I can only imagine the horrendous pain that she endured from the beetles. Her pained screams still echo through my tormented mind, as the guilt eats me alive. It was me who should have gotten hit by that poison, not Natasha. That boy will pay. Him and his entire District. There will not be a District Seven victor this year.

I will find them. Phan and that psycho girl. Also Hayden while I'm at it, since I didn't see his face in the sky last night. They will all pay. I snatch up my backpack and sickle and begin my journey. First stop, District Seven. I don't have to worry about much, except for the careers. I was forced to face my fear last night, when Tash died, so at least that was off my shoulders. I wonder how many others still have a fear to face.

Although my fear has been taken care of, I still keep my eyes open for mutts, since the Gamemakers have promised multitudes of them. However, I don't face any of them as I finish walking through Eleven and begin going through Ten, my home district. It doesn't even occur to me to visit the ally where I camped with Tash and the others. It would bring too much pain, I guess, since I've lost two of my best friends, my sister and Natasha McFields. When McFields, as I called her, died, I had never really felt the need to mourn, not until now. I guess I was too caught up in the whole being a tribute thing, that I just didn't have the time. But now that Tash is gone, I feel the big black hole of grief consume me. They were both so young, especially McFields, who was only twelve. She died at the hands of peacekeepers, of all people. Peacekeepers, how ironic their name is. They do everything but keep the peace. They kill more people than the tributes do. As I'm going through the many Districts leading to Seven, I Seth with anger at the peacekeepers, Phan, and all of Panem. District Ten, President Cyprus is going down. District Nine, Peacekeepers are dead too. District Eight, Natasha, I'm so sorry. Finally, District Seven, Phan, it's time to pay the price. I search high and low for the murderer, but he's nowhere to be found. But I'm sure that he's here somewhere. Where else would he be? I won't stop searching until I find him and take my revenge. Natasha's death will be avenged!

Starr Lynan's POV

I did it. I managed to save my skin from those careers, but at too high of a cost. I abandoned Rora and left her to die. She was so sweet and would always talk about her little sister and bookshop. Now Alexis is alone, and it's all my fault. I tore a family apart, just to save myself because I was too lazy to check if Heaven was still alive. By now, the careers will definitely be coming after me. I lied to them and they are probably more than angry at me. I'm totally screwed. Now, as I camp in District Three, I wallow in the guilt of Rora's death. Even though I didn't kill her, I felt like the blood was on my hands.

As I'm wandering through the many Districts, I feel more and more guilty with each and every step. I shouldn't have left her. I should've just stayed and faced the wrath of the others. But what about Sunny? And my family? I need to get home to them. I can't let sentiment get in the way and blind me. Only one person will be coming out alive, and it will be me. But is it worth becoming a killer? Was it worth leaving Rora to die? Probably not.

But then again, maybe I could get lucky, like Tilson Rye, my mentor, and not kill anybody and still win. Maybe. Just maybe.

I decide to settle down for the night in a small cottage in District Eleven, unpacking my few belongings, which now consist of my empty water bottle, pack of matches, half a strip of jerky, and my army knife. I briefly consider lighting a fire, so I could at least be a little warm, but I decide against it. Tilson told me many times that lighting a fire is a great way to get killed, even in a closed space. It acts like a beacon to other tributes and you'll most likely die. This was pretty much the only good advice I managed to get from my idiot mentor. Really, he's pretty much always out cold in his room. Or drunk.

As I'm settling down to sleep, a loud noise shocks me. The boom of a cannon. I wonder who it is this time. I guess I'm one tribute closer to winning. What a sick thought.

Meanwhile, Lacey Gage's POV

After the second night of the games ended, I managed, with difficulty, to get down from the roof of the Justice building and onto solid ground. Spending the night on the roof wasn't such a bad idea, no one disturbed me at all. I think I've pretty much figured out where I'm going to be spending every night of the games. It's pretty much foolproof. However, I know that I can't stay in one spot for too long, otherwise the Gamemakers get bored and there's no telling what may ensue when that happens. Let's just say, it won't be pretty. The sun has already begin to set on the third night of the Hunger Games and no tributes have died yet today. This isn't good. This isn't good at all. Whenever there's a day with no deaths, many things are certain to happen the next day. Terrible things. Deadly things. Just imagining the mutts and pods makes me shiver with fright.

Sitting in a tree in the outskirts of Eleven, I camp out, gazing at the stars, but also keeping a lookout for other tributes. So far, I've been here for hours, and nothing has really happened. However, things are about to get interesting. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a figure limping through the streets with many bandages attached to his shoulder and leg. I hear grunts of pain with every step that he makes. I can only imagine the pain that he is going through. In the darkness, I can't make out any features, so I don't know his name or which district he's from. But I do know that he's injured and in pain. Also, an easy target.

As I am ready to spring, my Punjab lasso in hand, I hesitate for a moment. He's injured, he doesn't have a fair chance at a fight. But then again, with injuries like that, he won't survive long, and I'd just be putting him out of his misery. I'd be doing him a favor. Besides, if he doesn't die tonight, nobody does. And then disaster will strike tomorrow. Just thinking about the mutts and pods that would be added make me shiver. By killing him, I'd be doing everyone a favor. Because, once the Gamemakers get bored, many tributes will die, probably including him, since he's clearly injured. Therefore, in that moment, I make a decision.

With my lasso in hand, I spring from the tree and wrap the noose like rope around his neck. Then, as I pull hard, I shut my eyes, not wanting to watch myself murder an innocent person. After a few seconds of struggling, the boy goes limp and a cannon fires. I unwrap the Punjab from his neck, knowing that I am now a killer. I tuck the lasso away, not wanting to look at that infernal weapon that has turned me into a monster. Then, not looking back at his body, I turn and flee away, not caring which direction I'm going in. I only stop when the anthem plays and a single face is flashed into the sky, the boy that I killed. According to the information underneath his picture, his name was Hayden Grant, the boy from District Eleven. The boy who's family I destroyed. The boy who became just another fallen tribute. I'm sorry Hayden. I truly am. But kill or be killed, that is the rule of the Hunger Games.

A/N

I'm so so so sorry! I really am! But it sort of had to happen. By the way, I decided to shorten the Game Days into fewer chapters, since many of the game chapters have been full of just sponsors. Also, we'll be able to find out who the victor is sooner! I'm hoping to have the story finished by the time that Holiday Break is over, so around the first week of January. But don't worry! I'm planning on doing another SYOT after this, featuring this victor as a mentor. Also, there is yet another poll open, so please vote. Remember that every time a new poll is updated, previous votes will be cleared. So be sure to vote again. I'm pretty sure I'll be basing the victor off of fan favorite, but I could surprise you. Also, here is the new way I'll be doing sponsors, instead of writing boring uneventful sponsor chapters, I'll just be putting in who sponsored what in the AN, so you know that the tribute got it. Then, there can be more action.
