Organization XIII Castle Entry

Riku would stumble every few steps, but for the most part he was back to normal strength after walking aross the very long energy bridge that appeared again on Marluxia's death. It was probably a very bad idea to continue on, and Kakuzu obviously didn't want to do this. Riku could feel a seething annoyance from him. Something seemed to be holding him back though. Perhaps it was because it was a direct order from someone higher-ranking than him. They finally came to the elevator that would lead them to other parts of the castle.

"Itachi better be worth this crap. Or I get a big bonus. Something."

Riku ignored him as he activated the elevator.

"You're not even good for trading bickering kid. Too quiet."

Riku shrugged as the elevator slowed to a stop. Standing before them was a man in an Organization cloak.

"I haven't seen you before… a new member?!" Riku said, startled.

Kakuzu was bewildered, "Itachi…?"

Xiver was standing before them. He seemed to panic at the sight of an Akatsuki member. He called forth a wall of ice to block the way and ran. He would head to Vexen. He would know what to do about intruders like this! Kakuzu blasted through the wall of ice with his fire mask as he and Riku pursued Xiver. They ran through hallway after hallway. They started to suspect it was a trap with how Xiver was just purely running, with no attempts to shake them. It was his castle after all, but he seemed to act like he barely knew what he was doing either. Finally, Xiver entered a doorway up tahead. They could hear him quickly explaining how there were intruders. He must be referring to them. They rushed into the room and Xiver jumped back to stand next to the other man in the room.

"I wasn't expecting guests. Riku even came! Sadly, I don't need any data on you," Vexen said with false confidence.

The false confidence was palpable and Riku could feel his nervousness about being suddenly confronted with two enemies suddenly in his quarters.

"We're here for your prisoner. Hand him over quickly," Kakuzu demanded.

"Oh? The prisoner? He's dead. I don't particularly care since I got what I wanted out of him."

"Itachi is dead?! This was all a waste of time!" Kakuzu roared out as he slammed the wall next to him with a fist. "I'm going to kill you to take some steam off!"

Kakuzu tensed up, ready to charge but stopped at a word from Xiver, "Calm down already, Kakuzu. Let me enjoy this."

Vexen whirled around with surprised, "Xiver? What are you doing?! Help me!"

Xiver hoisted Samehada, "My name is Kisame. Thanks for the way back from the dead."

Xiver, who was now under the control of Kisame, swung Samehada and sliced through Vexen's legs, who fell to the ground on his knees.

"W-who are you?!" Vexen said in a panic.

"I already told you. I'm Kisame. Shark-man. Samehada held on to part of me. You made a miscalculation."

"N-no! Ze… Zexion!" Vexen cried out.

Kisame brought Samehada down as Vexen continued to cry out. This swing through Vexen's neck ended Vexen, who fell silent as he faded away.

"Well, isn't this a mess," Kisame said with a fiery grin to Kakuzu and Riku.

"Y-you killed your… are you an Akatsuki member? How?" Riku asked in bewilderment.

"It's complicated. Samehada preserved part of me and the guy I just killed provided a way for that part to come back. It's not that-" Kisame started to explain as he suddenly jerked. Kisame stumbled a few steps back and looked around, a new light in his eyes, "You know, while Vexen deserved all that after offing me almost, that was a major oops on my part."

"Who are you now!?" Kakuzu yelled out.

"Oh, well. I'm Demyx! You already heard from my mindmate of how we're here. So we're now in this mental struggle of who gets to dominate this new body! It's… really annoying."

With that, Kakuzu charged finally letting his rage surge forth. He had been holding back his annoyance for too long. Demyx sidestepped and slid around him on a film of ice, using that same ice to unbalance Kakuzu. Demyx then slices through a mask, destroying the heart that was powering the fire mask. Riku shot a dark cannon blast that shot Demyx through the window who fell down into the abyss below. Kakuzu managed to rein his anger in so as not to cause any more trouble.

"We need to leave. Now." Riku said with no room for argument and Kakuzu just nodded.

Several floors below Vexen's Quarters

Xiver was back in control of his own body. He was clutching his head.

"I just killed Vexen! Who are these people?! What am I doing?! Who am I supposed to even be?!"

Xiver's body was shaking as he fought to control his roiling thoughts.

"The both of you… are going to shut up and stay out of my body. There's no way I'm not myself. I'm my own person. I'm myself," Xiver said, his eyes showing him dangerously close to cracking. "I'll go find Zexion. He'll fix things. He will. If he can't… I'll fix things myself."

Xiver set off with a confident stride that belied his fragile mental state.
