Chapter 10: The Journey to Freedom

"Robin, wake up." I heard a deep voice order.

"Wha..." I mumbled, rubbing my eyes as I slowly began to wake up.

"We're stopping at a motel for the night." Deathstroke said as he drove into the parking lot of a motel.

"Why?" I asked.

"We've been in the car for eight hours and while that is no problem for me, you need to have proper rest and get cleaned up before we reach the safe house."

"You're taking me to a safe house." I said, fully awake.

"Yes."

"For how long?"

"Long enough to make sure the JL can't find you."

"But what about Lex?" I asked quietly.

"At the moment, Mr. Luthor should be the least of your worries." He said before he got out of the car and went around to my side and opened the door.

"I could do it myself." I muttered as I fumbled to take off the seatbelt.

Deathstroke scoffed. "I honestly doubt you can walk after what you've been through." He told me as he reached across my lap and unbuckled the belt then lifted me up in my arms and carried me up to the motel room.

The room had two full beds with a dark brown wooden nightstand between them. The walls were painted a pastel green with dull grey curtains and had a tacky painting of a white woman with a poodle. Deathstroke walked past the bed and took me straight to the bathroom where he set me down gently on the closed toilet seat then turned towards the bathtub to fill it up with water.

"I need you to remove your clothing, so I could check your injuries." Deathstroke said calmly.

I tensed, feeling uncomfortable at the idea of taking off my clothes and I stared at Deathstroke warily.

"I won't do anything that Green Arrow attempted to do to you." Deathstroke said reassuringly.

I nodded hesitantly then quickly removed my clothing not wanting to waste more time by doing it bit by bit. Once I was naked, I covered my crotch with my hands and waited for Deathstroke to finish. I tried not to flinch when he brought his hand towards my face and began to clean the dried blood off and chest where some of the blood dripped down to. He was very clinical as he checked the bruises that I got which I was very grateful about.

"It's going to take a few weeks for the bruises to fade and you won't have to worry about any permanent scaring, but the issue I'm most concerned about is your weight, Robin. When was the last time you ate a full meal?"

"I don't really remember."

"Well, you need to eat more, I could see your ribs sticking out."

I tried not to blush in shame as he continued to look at my body, disinfecting small cuts and cleaning up the dried blood he saw in a few quick moments.

"Do you need help in the tub or do you think you can do it yourself?"

"I can do it!" I exclaimed as I quickly got up from the toilet seat, but I stumbled at the sudden wave of dizziness that went through me making me almost hit the floor if it wasn't for Deathstroke grabbing me.

"Apparently you can't." Deathstroke said as he carried me to the filled tub and set me down in it. The hot water made me sigh as my tense muscles began to relax and I didn't bother to try to tell Deathstroke that I could bathe myself when he started to lather my hair.

"Do you ever plan on taking off your mask?" I asked him.

"No."

"Why not? Doesn't it bother you wearing it all day?" I asked again as he began to wash my back.

"For many reasons and no, it does not bother me. Tilt your head back." He ordered before carefully pouring water on my hair.

"I won't say anything if you do. I'm not exactly on good terms with the JL."

"Why is that?"

"Didn't Lina tell you?" I asked him.

"No. Only your location."

"Oh."

"You've mentioned Lex Luthor a few times, did you give him some information about the JL?" He asked as he washed my back.

I laughed bitterly. "Nothing like that, but I bet they would have preferred that than what I did."

"Do you think you can stand for a moment while I wash off the soap?"

"Yes." I said as I grabbed his arm as my legs shook slightly when I stood.

He turned on the shower head and quickly washed off any extra soap from the bath he gave me and then pretty soon Deathstroke wrapped a towel around me and carried me towards the bed closest to the bathroom.

"You didn't have to carry me, you know? I may have gotten beaten up a bit, but I do know how to take care of myself." I told him, annoyed at being treated like a child.

"You are physically, mentally, and emotionally damaged. The fact that you've not broken down into tears is surprising." Deathstroke said as he grabbed clothes for me to put on.

"I'm not-"

"Yes, you are."

"I'm fine." I exclaimed firmly.

He sighed. "Listen, my orders were to take care of you and to keep you safe which is what I'm doing and if there is one thing about me you should know about, is that I take my job very seriously."

"I just don't like being treated like a child."

"I'm not treating you like I child, but I'm not averse to treating you like one if I gave to."

"Put this on." He said, handing me a plain T-shirt, underwear, and pants that we took from the mountain.

"Thanks."

"So, what did you and Lex do?" He asked as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

"We didn't plan anything, it just sort of happened."

"You slept with him?" Deathstroke asked surprised.

"Yeah."

"How did your mentor take it?"

"He accused me of treason, held me as a prisoner for two months and stripped me from my superhero persona." I said coldly

"All that for having sex?" He said stunned.

I was about to say something else when my stomach decided to growl. Loudly.

"Get some rest while I get you some food." He ordered.

"Okay... Can I ask you something?"

"Depends on what it is."

"Where exactly is the safe house?"

"Washington DC."

"B-But how is Lex going to know where I am?"

"Talk to Lina about it when we get there. Now get some rest before I make you."

Not wanting to know how he would make me get some rest, I laid down on the bed as he walked out of our room. I didn't know what to think of Deathstroke or for that matter, Lina. Why did she send him to save me? How did she even the know the man? I thought as I laid on the bed waiting for Deathstroke to return, but I guess I was more exhausted than I thought I was, because I quickly fell asleep.

"Hmm...what are you doing? Go back to sleep." I mumbled when I felt Lex beginning to get up from the bed.

"I have a meeting to go to. I'll be back soon." Lex said kissing me gently on the forehead.

I tightened my arm and leg around him so he couldn't leave. "Reschedule it for tomorrow, stay with me."

I heard him laugh softly. "I would gladly do it if I could, but I had to reschedule this meeting because someone decided to interrupt our phone call with their sexual antics." He said amusingly as he caressed my back.

I finally opened my eyes and looked at Lex surprised. "You're going to see Bruce?"

"Yes, we have important matters to discuss."

"Why don't you send someone else do it? Bruce has done it before when he has a business meeting with someone he doesn't like." I asked.

"Not with something like this, Robin." He said calmly.

I hid my face in his neck. I knew he didn't come here just to spend time with me, but that didn't mean I had to like that he left for those meetings.

"Can you at least be a little late?" I asked against his neck.

"And what excuse would I use?" Lex asked amused.

"You were busy taking care of my needs." I said as I quickly straddled his waist and began to kiss his neck.

Lex chuckled and rested his hands on my thighs. "I don't think he'll be pleased that I let a whore control me."

"Whore?" I said as I sat up and stared at him.

"His words, not mine." Lex said hurriedly.

"Well...he's kind of right."

"Excuse me?" Lex said bewildered at my response.

"I do have sex with you several times a day, I spend your money on whatever I want in this place, and I'm kept a secret from everyone."

"That makes me sound like one of those sugar daddies." Lex grumbled.

I snickered and pecked him on the lips. "Nothing wrong with that. I like being your boy toy, it's fun."

"Well, as long as you know you mean more than that to me. I have no problem playing that role."

"Of course I do. I wouldn't still be here if I thought otherwise."

"Good." Lex said seriously then pulled my head down to kiss me deeply. I relaxed in his arms as he kissed me, letting him take full control of it. I moaned as Lex slid his hands down my back and cupped my ass making me moan and start to grind against him.

"Wouldn't it be great to fuck me before you go?" I asked Lex as I kissed and nibbled his jaw.

"Of course it would, but I really can't be late." Lex groaned when I rolled my hips slowly over his growing erection.

"Won't it be funny that he'll be completely oblivious to the fact that you fucked his ward and sidekick so hard that you left him with a hoarse throat and a sore ass?" I mumbled huskily as I reached behind me and began to stroke his cock.

"I guess I can be a little late." He growled against my lips before he flipped us over.

I laughed as I wrapped my legs around his waist, groaning as our growing erections rubbed against each other's. I gasped when he brought my hands up to my head holding them place so I couldn't move them.

"This is new." I said as he moved his lips down to my neck. He nibbled and sucked on my skin hard enough to leave bruises. I winced slightly when he bit too hard on a spot near my ear.

"Not too rough Lex." I told him.

His hold on my wrists tightened and I whimpered at the pain. "Lex, you're hurting me, slow down."

"Lex isn't here, Robin." I tensed as the familiar voice of Green Arrow whispered in my ear.

"Where's Lex? What did you do to him?" I asked frantically as I struggled against his bruising hold.

He didn't answer as he continued to violate my body. I was powerless against him, no matter how hard I struggled, Green Arrow seemed unfazed by it as he moved me around to his liking. I cried for help as he roughly spread my legs wider, I sobbed brokenly as I felt his dry fingers tear inside me, and I begged him softly to stop when I felt the head of his cock against my hole.

"Lex? Please, help me." I whispered fearfully.

"He won't save you, Robin." He said menacingly before he roughly thrust inside me, pulling a pain filled scream out of me.

"Robin, Stop! You're safe!" I heard someone say as they held me against their cold, hard chest.

I opened my eyes to see that I was still in the motel room and that the person holding me was Deathstroke. I couldn't help it, something inside me seemed to finally crack as I wrapped my arms around Deathstroke and began to sob uncontrollably. I didn't know what to feel as I cried, I just knew that everything that happened was too much to carry inside.

"I-I don't un-understand, w-why would they d-do th-this to m-me?" I asked Deathstroke stuttering miserably.

Deathstroke said nothing, but I felt him awkwardly pat my back as I cried against his chest which made me feel a little better. Once I knew I wouldn't break down in tears again, I took a deep calming breath before I let go of Deathstroke, wiping my cheeks clean of tears.

"Thanks for not leaving me alone."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not really." I said softly.

"Very well. I got you a sandwich, water, and an apple."

"Thank you."

"Eat, then get some rest. We'll be leaving in a few hours before dawn, there's a plane that will take us to Washington D.C. and then I'll drive you to the safe house."

I rubbed my forehead tiredly. "I just want all of this to be over."

"It will be, just be patient."

After I finished my sandwich, I laid back down on the bed, but I was too scared to fall asleep. I felt as if this was just one insane dream and that I'm just about to wake up back in my bedroom at Wayne Manor. It was all too much and I don't know how much more I could take. Who knew that in a week I have lost everything I knew, who knew that by following my gut, the world that I always known and loved would crumble right before my eyes. I felt so alone and weak that it made me feel so disgusted with myself that I couldn't even stand the thought of looking at a mirror.

I must have dozed off because I was once again shaken awake by Deathstroke. He had all of our things packed by the time I finished putting on my shoes and we swiftly left the motel. The roads were mostly empty at this time, so it didn't take us long to reach the airport. Deathstroke drove us pass the airport gates, straight to a small airplane parked on the runway with two men dressed in black standing by the stairs of the plane. They didn't react to the way Deathstroke was dressed, they just stood there waiting patiently for us to get on the airplane. I made my way to one of the seats by the window, putting on my seatbelt as I waited for the plane to take off.

"We'll be arriving to Washington D.C. in an hour." Deathstroke told me as he buckled up his seatbelt.

"Okay." I responded.

"Excuse me, Sir. The pilot wanted me to inform you that you'll be taking off in just a few minutes." One of the men interrupted us.

"Excellent."

"Also, Sir. What would you like us to do with the car?" The man asked Deathstroke.

"Lose it. We're running a tight schedule here."

"Very well." The man said stoically before exciting the plane.

"Who are those men?" I asked curiously as the doors finally closed and Deathstroke and I were left alone.

"Men that owed Lina a favor."

"Oh. She has a lot of people who owe her, doesn't she?" I said.

"Yes, she does."

"How many people did she call to set this up?"

"Just enough to do their job."

"So, their job was to wait for us to get here and lose the car."

"No, their job was to make sure we arrive and leave from this airport without anyone becoming suspicious."

"Oh, and when we arrive at Washington, are there going to be people there too?"

"Yes, when we get there, there will be another car waiting for us to use so we could arrive at the safe house.

"Wha-"

"And before you ask, I do not know what's going to happen to you once we get there."

I slumped in my seat, crossing my arms annoyed.

"Don't pout, I can only tell you what I know."

I turned my body to face Deathstroke curiously. "How did she even find you? I never heard of you before."

"Hmm, I'm not surprised since the JL barely knows anything about me."

"Then how does Lina know you?"

"We've met a few times before in the past."

"Really? How?"

"Nothing special. Just a few missions here and there. What's with all the questions?" He said vaguely.

"I'm just curious, that's all."

"Then you'll just have to ask her when you see her."

I sighed. "Fine."

"You should get some rest before we get there."

"I think I've rested enough, Deathstroke." I said as I felt the plane begin to take off and once we were up in the air, I felt myself finally begin to relax for the first time in months.

"I hope I never have to go back to that place." I said softly.

"They did more to you, didn't they?"

"Yeah."

"What did they do?"

I felt my pulse speed up and I began to pant for air quietly, my hands began to shake as I traveled back to the infirmary in the mountain, back to the cold, hard steel table where they strapped me so tightly that I couldn't move, back to the unbearable pain when J'onn violated my memories as I screamed and begged them to stop. I wrapped my arms around my stomach, curling up in the large plane seat as I felt this pain in my chest increase.

"Listen to me, Robin. You are safe, they can't hurt you anymore. Just breathe." Deathstroke's deep, melodious voice told me.

The unfamiliar, deep, melodious voice swept into my mind, slowly bringing me out of my nightmare. He kept on talking as I tried to overcome the panic attack I was having, resting his gloved hand on my shoulder, until I was able to breathe normally again and realize that I was still on the plane.

"Are you alright now?" He said.

I nodded. "I-Is there a-any w-water?" I asked, wanting to soothe my dry throat.

"Yes. Give me a moment." Deathstroke said as he walked to the back of the plane, then not a minute later returning with a glass of cold water.

"Thank you." I told him before sipping some water, sighing softly at the cool sensation sliding down my throat.

"You must think I'm so weak? Acting like a pathetic teenager because of a forbidden romance."

"Though I do think your actions of not thinking before having this affair completely foolish, I do believe that sooner or later something similar like this would have happened."

"So, you're saying I could have ended up with Lex in the future?"

"I'm saying that it could have been anyone. You could have fallen for a different man, villain or not, young or old, it doesn't matter."

"You believe in destiny?" I asked him bewildered.

He scoffed. "Of course not. This situation you're in doesn't mean that you are meant to suffer at the hands of the people you trusted the most. For all you know, you could have slept with Lex a few months from now, or maybe a few years. Whatever made you want to start a relationship with him, wasn't seen in a crystal ball, when the planets aligned, or whatever bullshit you heard. It was all you, your choice."

"Besides, I don't think you're weak. Most people would have given into the pressure and the pain the JL put you through, but you're strong and stubborn, which is what made you not break under their control."

The rest of the flight, Deathstroke and I sat quietly on our seats. I stared out the window, seeing the sky begin to brighten up as the minutes went by. I didn't comment as to why we decided to arrive in the early morning instead of at night, I had to believe that Lina knows what she's doing. I couldn't wait to see her again, there were so many things I needed answered, especially as to why she didn't come back to the mountain like she said she would and why she spent all this time to rescue me.

A/N: Finally! I know it's taken forever, but better late than never right? Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter and if you have any suggestions or question, tell me. I'll love to hear them.
