A/N: Woooooowwww So it's been FOR-EV right guys? I don't even know what to say. First I want to explain myself. I started this fic in like 2017 (17 years old) and updated all the way to March of last year (19 years old) I had just kind of fell out of love with fan fiction and writing fan fiction and I wanted to concentrate on writing some of my own stuff. However, this and two other fics on my second account are the three fics that I ALWAYS regretted not finishing because I knew how I wanted them to turn out. I knew how I wanted this fic to end and I know I probably lost A LOT of readers, because the old fans of the clique have moved on and it seems like a bunch of new girls that are fans are moving in now (teeny boppers it looks like from their bad writing skills and lack of originality.) Which sucks because the clique FF community used to be such a cool community. I know I probably won't salvage many if ANY of my old readers, but hopefully I attract some new ones. I will finish this fic and may make the rating M but I hope if any of my old readers are still out there that you guys forgive me and pick back up on reading this fic : ) as always, even though it's been a long time and I shouldn't have left you, I hope you know cystalpowerkiss loves all her readers and reviewers : ) 3 ya'll. Now on to the story. Also the original posting of this story got DELETED! UGH! I was way further ahead in the story when I started in 2011 which pisses me off.
Massie
I could tell our dance routine was making Coach Daisy uncomfortable. She kept shifting in her seat and clearing her throat at particular movements, but so far she hadn't protested.
Once Alicia and Olivia had finished they turned and faced the girls watching to see how they did on their own. Today our group of twenty five had dwindled down to twenty one.
"Alright everybody, listen up!" I clapped, gaining everyone's attention. "Now it's time for all the girls to run through the cheer, chant, and dance routine. I'm not stopping you guys, I'm not correcting you, so you better be on point."
Dylan spoke up next. "We're going to be watching you and when we say: "drop" you are dismissed. So if there's anybody right now that knows they don't have this routine down to a science you have thirty seconds to hit the door."
All the girls shifted uncomfortably, but nobody left.
"Alright then," I said with a sly half smile, "CHANT!"
The girls began clapping rhythmically as the trilled out the chant.
Kristen pointed to a particularly robotic bleached blonde and called out, "Drop."
The blonde's rehearsed smile hit the floor and she ran out of the gym. We snickered.
"CHEER!" Alicia called out.
As the girls went about the cheer a few of them were visibly intimidated, letting their nerves affect their performance. Our team always made it to the big leagues; If they couldn't handle a little pressure amongst us how would they ever handle being scrutinized under hundreds or even thousands of people?
With an outstretched finger Dylan called out, "Ummm you, you, you aaand, you, whose that behind you?" She motioned for the girl to scoot over. "Yeah you, drop."
Red faced, the four girls ran out of the gym. The entire squad cracked up.
"Girls!" Coach Daisy hissed, it was her second time reprimanding us today, the first time we had to hear some such nonsense about how our "hyper sexual" dance would be perceived. I rolled my eyes. What the fuck ever.
"DANCE!" I shouted ignoring Coach D.
Suddenly a petite black girl stepped out from the crowd and I held up my hand signaling Claire to stop the music.
"Um, ex-cuh-use me?..."
"Shauna." The girl replied confidently with her hands on her hips.
"Shauna," I repeated. "Would you mind explaining why you stepped out of formation?" My patience was being worked. Massie Block never lost order.
"So you could tell that unlike these losers I actually have rhythm." She glanced at the rest of the girls haughtily. "Talent could get drowned in this crowd."
A pause. The girls standing behind Shauna looked shocked, scared, and understandably offended as they waited for my response. Then the whole squad broke out into laughter.
"This chick obviously has the ovaries for the squad." Kristen remarked.
"Deff." I smiled. "Shauna, you're in."
Shauna beamed, flipping her curly ponytail behind her shoulder, she bounced over to the bleachers.
"Well girls the first position has been filled." I announced. "Let's see if any of you have half the ovaries or the talent to join Shauna here."
Just then Claire cued the music back up and Coach Daisy stood up beside me.
"Massie, girls, I really don't like the way you're behaving right now, you're scaring the-"
I held up a palm. "Coach D," I glared into her light brown eyes, "I'm trying to conduct try outs this can wait until later." And with that I turn my attention back to the girls.
I announced to the girls that the decisions would be posted Wednesday morning, two days from now. Now we were packing up for the day as the tired girls filed out of the gym.
"Ahem, Massie, Alicia."
We turned to see coach Daisy standing there with her arms crossed in an attempt to look like an authoritative figure. Adorable.
Alicia and I looked at each other amused.
In a faux sweet voice Alicia replied; "Yes Coach D?"
"What did you think you were doing today?" She asked a little bt more bite in her voice than I would have recommended using while speaking to us.
The rest of the girls caught the strong tone of her voice too and paused to watch.
My girls surrounded me as I matched her stance, crossing my arms over my chest, the smile never leaving my face as I innocently answered, "Conducting try outs. What did you think we were doing today?"
Giggles.
Ms. Daisy stepped back obviously not expecting that one, but forged on with, "We talked about this the other day."
"And did you see anyone on bleachers?" Alicia asked.
"No, but you went way over board with that drop method and Shauna was disrespectful even if she was good. That kind of diva like attitude can jeapordize any team."
Just then Shauna, who as an official member of the team had been helping us pack up, snapped, "What is that supposed to mean."
I held up a palm to silence her.
"On the contrary, coach, Shauna's attitude is exactly what we need on this team. Every girl on this squad is a bad bitch. We don't say "If you have the ovaries" for nothing, and those other birds didn't have it."
Alicia added, "Shauna had the routines down pat, the rhythm, and the confidence. There was no reason for her not to have made the team. I thought you trusted us as captain and co-captain?"
"I see your point about Shauna, fine, but that still doesn't negate the fact that your methods are extreme, and intimidating, and-"
"Over." I held up a palm. "It's over and done with now. Coach D with all due respect, we're exhausted. The try outs are over. Now we're going to go home, deliberate, and we'll get back to you Wednesday, till then, this meeting is over."
"Massie!" Coach Daisy shouted at my back as the girls and I turned in unison to leave.
"Bye Coach D!" I yelled over my shoulder.
"See ya!" The girls trilled.
A/N: I thought a long chapter would make up for everything, trust me more action will happen soon. For now I hope you all enjoyed. Just to let you know this story may get an M rating later but I will alert ya'll before that happens. Thanks for reading : )
