Samus stayed on her knees. She couldn't see anything past the water in her eyes.

Ho-oh heard the call of it's temporary trainer and closed its mouth. It gave out one last all and flew away. Its wings shimmered in the light of the spacial realm before being transported out of the battlefield. Samus wiped her eyes and saw Peach standing there. She was stunned at what Samus had done.

"Samus…" Then Peach became panicked. She was struggling to move, but her body wouldn't obey. Samus noticed her struggle then tried to move herself, but to no avail. Both women watched in horror as they saw a Bob-omb appear between them.

No…

"Samus!" Peach called. "Why did you do that?"

"Because!" Samus called back. "Because that was yours! That wasn't fair! You should've gotten it! I didn't deserve to win if it was like that!"

"But…" Peach said.

"Peach you were my first friend here! And the first I've had in a long time! I don't want you to go! And I don't want to be the reason you go!"

"But I don't want you to go either!"

The Bob-omb stood up. Its fuse lit, and it began walking. Samus watched in horror as it walked away from her to the other end of the stage. The tears stopped, she just found herself yelling.

Peach closed her eyes. "You can do it Samus."

Samus found herself in the Teleportation Room. Ike, Pit and Zelda were there waiting for her, but she just stormed past them all. She knew they would try to comfort her, butshe wasn't sad anymore. People were going to have to go, it made no sense for her to be sad. She was angry. Angry at Tabuu for this whole situation. She realized she was tired of it. And she was going to do something about it. She went right to the Spectator Room, sat down, and stared at the screen. The other three came in and sat around her.

"Samus?" Zelda asked. "How are you doing?"

"Not good." Samus said, folding her arms.

"Makes sense." Ike said.

"Who's up next?" Samus asked.

"Um… Meta Knight and Ness." Pit told her. "Samus, is there anything we can do for you?"

Samus looked at them. She wasn't glaring, but she gave them a very intense, focused stare. One that told them that she didn't need support. She needed revenge. "You need to watch me win this thing."

Samus sat idly by, festering in the anger of her own thoughts, giving the utmost attention to each match that happened right in front of her. She used them to push her further.

This time is different.

Meta Knight:

ELIMINATED

I've only ever been able to stand back and watch as people were taken away from me.

Kirby:

ELIMINATED

My parents, Adam… The metroid…

Zelda:

ELIMINATED

Samus clenched her fists, preparing for her next fight. Not this time.

Captain Falcon:

ELIMINATED

This time I'm going to fight.

Ness:

ELIMINATED

And this time, I'm going to bring people back.

Ike:

ELIMINATED

To make up for all of the times that I couldn't.

Bowser:

ELIMINATED

Samus and Pit were the last two people in the Mansion. Pit came out of the transporter and Samus met him in the Transporter Room. They looked at each other; Pit was exhausted, Samus was tired but still fueled by rage.

"TO THE TWO REMAINING FIGHTERS."

They both looked to the ceiling.

"THE FINAL MATCH WILL OCCUR TOMORROW AT 10 AM."

"Are you kidding me!?" Samus yelled.

"PREPARE ACCORDINGLY."

"No!" Samus screamed. "Let's do this right now!"

"Samus…" Pit said. She looked over to Pit, who was bending over hands on his knees. He was catching his breath, but he still put on a small smile. Samus felt herself calm down. She was doing this for her friends, but she couldn't ignore one to reach her goal. Pit needed to rest, and she figured she did as well. Samus nodded and the two walked out of the room.

"It's quiet." Pit said. The two sat at a single table in the cafeteria.

"Yeah." Samus replied. Neither had gotten food, they didn't have the appetites for it. They looked out the window, seeing the rain hit the side of the Mansion. The gray clouds, ever present, just made the whole situation worse for Samus.

"You know what I want?" Pit said, staring straight out the window. She turned and looked at him expectantly. "I really want to make it stop raining. I want to see the sun." He turned to Samus. She smiled at the small sentiment, prompting a smile in return from him.

"I'd like that too." Samus agreed. The two were quiet for a while, both exhausted from the day and just thinking about everything that has happened. It was also getting late, but neither seemed to want to sleep, since it would just make tomorrow come faster.

"I want to try it again." Samus suddenly spoke up. "I want to see what would happen if we didn't do anything."

Pit thought about it. "I'm guessing you don't think he'd drop a Bob-omb because it's the last match?"

Samus nodded. "Exactly. The only way a person would win is by chance. he wouldn't get to see his fight."

Pit stayed quiet for a few minutes. Then he looked at Samus and smiled. "Sure, let's give it a shot."

They decided to call it a night. Samus had some trouble falling asleep. She rolled around, tossing her covers everywhere trying to find a comfortable position. Eventually, sleep overcame her. She dreamed about all of the friends she made at the Mansion. All of the things they had done together. It was exactly what she needed to see, and the next morning she woke up more motivated than ever. She woke up a bit later than usual, but still in time for the final brawl.

"THE FINAL MATCH IS ABOUT TO BEGIN. COMBATANTS TO THE TRANSPORTER ROOM."

She grabbed her helmet and walked to the Transporter Room. Pit was already there, waiting for Tabuu to make the call.

"You ready to give it a try?" Samus asked him.

"Yeah." He said simply.

Samus materialized her Power Suit and put her helmet on. "Here we go."

GO! was called, but neither of them moved. Samus stared across the platform to Pit. She looked around, trying to see if Tabuu had anything special planned. Neither had moved for a little while, but Samus was still able to move her around; She wondered if maybe their plan was working and he wouldn't freeze them due to it being the final match.

"You have a score to settle, don't you?"

Samus was taken out of her thoughts and looked to Pit. He looked at her with a sad smile.

"I mean, we all do. But you've been through a lot here in particular, and you want to get back at Tabuu, right?" He asked her.

Samus sighed.

"Then do it." Pit said, smile never falling. He began walking backwards. Samus knew what he was doing, he was going to let her win. As much as it pained her to see a friend make a sacrifice for her, she also knew there was no point in stopping him. "If either of us stands a chance against Tabuu, I'd put my money on you, even if just because of your stronger anger towards him."

Samus took a small step forward, but Pit just shook his head. "I know this is what you want." He said, smile growing. "You're not a bad person for letting me do this. It's my choice. I know it's not going according to our plan, but I have faith in you. So don't be sad. And promise me something."

Samus stayed quiet for a bit. "Ok."

Pit jumped off the stage, but stayed in the air with his wings. "Give that bastard what's coming to him." He gave Samus a thumbs up. Samus nodded, and Pit stopped flapping his wings.

GAME!
