Hello again! Here's the 7th part of this story! Since I've been gone I think I've lost some readers:/ but I'm extremely grateful for all the reviews, follows and favorites I've gotten over the past year! I hope you like this chapter, as I said last time, my imagination isn't really the best right now:p Enjoy!
There was a silence in the snow filled room. The snowflakes started to disappear, making Sophie's surrounding darker as she examined the newcomer's appearance. He was currently holing his staff with his both hands, leaning on it and looking back at Sophie with an exited expression, his light blue eyes almost popping out of his eye sockets. There was frost on the shoulders and arms of his blue hoodie, and some on his brown pants that he wore. He was so pale,it looked like he was glowing white(twilight much?) in the dark bedroom.
A sudden breeze of cold wind snapped Sophie out of her trance and she shivered, goosebumps forming on her bare arms. She shuddered quietly, which seemed to "wake" Jack up and he made a swift move with his hand and another breeze of wind blew past her, stronger this time, and managed to close the open window with a bang.
A light was suddenly turned on outside her room, the light shining into the room through the crack under the door, as well as on the side of it. Footsteps were heard shortly after, and Sophie felt her heart begin to beat faster as she understood what was going on. Someone was awake, and that someone was most likely her mother, and she wouldn't be happy to see her up late at night with a boy she just me in her house.
Sophie made a fast gesture with both arms as if she was trying to swat a fly away. "Quick, hide!"she hissed. "Where?" Jack asked, looking around with big eyes. The footsteps were coming closer each second, and Sophie lay her gaze on her bed. "Hide under the bed." "What? Isn't there any other place not filled with dirt and..." Jack didn't have any time to finish, because Sophie had grabbed his arm, ignoring how fricking cold he was, dragged him towards the bed and shoved him under her bed.
"Now stay still and don't make a sound, OK?" she snarled before jumping into her bed and dragged the covers over her only a heartbeat before she heard her door open. The footsteps came closer to her bed and she closed her eyes, trying to keep her eyelids still to look as if she was really sleeping. A hand was placed on her head, stroking her hair twice before walking out, closing the door after her.
Sophie breathed out, putting her hands to her eyes and rubbed them softly. That was a close one. She didn't dare to get up and drag Jack out from under the bed yet, since the lights outside her room were still on, but as soon as they were turned of, she flew up from her bed, kneeling at the floor and peeking under the bed.
What surprised her was that there was nobody under there, and there were no traces of someone ever being there before. Then, laughter was heard over her, and she looked up in the ceiling she saw Jack flying there like peter pan, arms crossed and looking thoughtfully at Sophie.
"So, you can see me," Jack said after a few seconds of silence, flying down and landing on the bed. Sophie nodded while walking up towards her writing desk and sitting down on her chair.
"Obviously."
"So...you remember me?" Jack then asked.
"Yeah. Or sort of; I remember different scenes where I've seen you before. Like in that green garden full of eggs or whatever. I remember you standing there along with a hairy fellow."
Jack made a puzzled face, and then drew his head back and laughed. Sophie shushed him.
"Be quiet, mom can hear you!"
" I seriously doubt it," Jack answered cockily.
"How come?"
"Only people who believe in me can see or hear me. I don't think your mother is one of the believers out there."
Sophie raised her eyebrows for a few seconds to show him that he had a point.
"Fine, but what was so funny?"
"Oh, that hairy fellow you talked about? I know him. He's the Easter kangaroo," Jack said, a faint smile on his lips.
"The Easter kangaroo?" Sophie said, voice full of confusion.
"Maybe you've heard of him as the Easter bunny? His name is Bunnymund. I meet him like everyday."
Suddenly Jack's eyes lit up. "Would you like to come with me?"
Sophie looked surprised by the sudden outburst. "where?" she asked.
"To Neverland of course! I'm kidding, to the north pole! You can meet Bunny, North and the Toothfairy, it'll be fun!"
"To the north pole?" Sophie asked, her voice full of doubt.
"It takes only like ten minutes from here, the winds are pretty fast.
Sophie fell silent for a moment.
"I can't, I'm sorry." Sophie said. "I don't think I trust an almost complete stranger who I've met once when I was like five to help me fly to the north pole and meet Santa Clause, the Easter bunny and the Toothfairy."
Something flashed past Jack's eyes. It looked like a mix of hurt and anger, but it vanished as fast as it came. He nodded silently and then looked down at the ground, looking sheepish.
"Sorry, I'm just not used of all of...this, you know?" He gestured towards Sophie.
Sophie narrowed her eyes. "No, I'm afraid I don't know."
Jack held his arms up in defense. "No, no, no, I didn't mean it like that! I only meant that you're the second believer I've had in 300 years."
Sophie was stunned. "Wait...how old are you?" she asked, a curious look in her face. "
300 years, give or take a few years." Jack said with a shrug.
Sophie's jaw dropped."You're older than my great great grandpa!" she exclaimed.
Jack chuckled. "Yeah, my former only believer didn't even believe me at first. It was until I helped him with boosting his sleigh that I truly made him believe."
Sophie smiled.
She suddenly yawned, almost sending her of guard.
"Oh, I think that's my cue." Jack said and flew up(literally), picking up his staff on the way.
Sophie turned around, still sitting on the bed to be able to see him. "Wait, what? Where do you need to go?"
Jack-who was currently sitting on the windowsill-turned to look at her with a raised eyebrow. "I'm Jack Frost. I need to spread the ice and snow across this City, along with plenty other cities."
"Well, are you coming back soon?" Sophie asked.
Jack paused for a second, regarding the teen with a little smile on his lips. "Yeah, sure," he then said, before jumping out of her room, and into the cold.
Sophie suddenly remembered something. "Wait!" she yelled, running up to the window. Jack was floating in midair a couple of meters from her, a confused look on his face.
"Who was your first believer?"
Jack flew a couple of feet towards Sophie, his staff resting on his shoulder. "He was about ten, had brown spiky hair and lived in this neighborhood. He was actually very mature of his age."
He added to himself, a thoughtful glance in his eyes. Sophie could swear that she new the believer. He reminded her so much of...wait...
"Do you maybe remember his name?" Sophie asked. Her mind was racing. It did make sense...
"Sure. His name was Jamie Bennett."
With that, he flew of into the night, leaving a highly confused teenager.
Soooo that was this chapter, I hope you like it! See you soon!
