Pairing: RemusSirius

Sirius sits, with his knees drawn up to his chest and his hands curled protectively around himself. You can see the faint bruises on his face still, even though it has been weeks. Weeks since Sirius left home. Weeks since Sirius suffered the worst abuse of his life.

You don't really know what to say, you know he's thinking of his brother. Thinking that he should have saved him. But he didn't. You know that he tries to pretend like the words of his father don't matter ('Worthless' 'scum' 'traitor' 'bastard') but that deep down they do. You know the sharp cut of rejection, how it stings and it bleeds in the surface. What people don't see is that it cuts below the skin as well. Once all the bruises have faded, and the blood clots, people assume you are fine. You know better than anyone that that is not the case.

He sits, not doing anything, not speaking to anyone, except for James. Even then it's not much. You're determined to let Sirius fall into the pit of insignificant despair as you once did. You are determined to show him that you care, that you will fight until your last breath for him. You are determined to show him just how much you love him.

So you get up, and you sit yourself down next to Sirius. Gently you pry his arms away from his knees, and you wind them around your own waist.

He struggles at first, because how could anyone possibly love such a broken boy? That is his excuse, always his excuse. You don't give up, though, because you love him. You are just as broken as he is, and you are determined to fix him like he fixed you.

Finally he gives in, sagging against your chest. You run your fingers through his silky hair and murmur words, anything you can think of to prove his father wrong. Because he is worth something, to you. He is worth the world, the stars, the universe. Because he is Sirius, and you are Remus and together you make SiriusandRemus, and that is all that matters.
