I really do feel bad for making you guys wait so long. I am a horrible procrastinator and I never know what to write next. Well you guys don't deserve that so I am sorry. That being said, here is the new chapter! Please please leave reviews or message me with ideas, comments or suggestions. It really helps to know what works and what doesn't. Also I am not totally sure what is happening in the next few chapters, so ideas would be nice. Thanks for reading!

I do not own many of these people

Supper that evening was a rather strange affair. Sarah had spent the day rather distracted and confused, and thus managed to burn the chicken that she had cooked; a fact which made her apologetic through all of the meal. Henri continued to stuff his face and tell Sarah how it didn't matter; between these bites however he proceeded to ask Isabelle a string of questions which it didn't really seem like she wanted to answer.

"So what do you think will have happened with your father?" He said taking a huge bite out of the chicken leg he was holding.

Isabelle looked mildly taken aback as she raised her fork to her mouth.

"Henri!" Sarah scolded him. "That is not a very polite thing to ask. I'm sure that Isabelle doesn't want to talk about it." As Sarah said this to him, she also handed him a fork, something he had previously forgotten about using, much to her horror.

Isabelle's expression changed to one Sarah could only define as defiance as she looked briefly at Henri before turning to Sarah and saying pointedly "No Henri, it's perfectly fine. I think you should be totally free to ask any questions you like." She turned back to him and answer pointedly "I suspect that he will be held in jail for a while. Those redcoats seem to be rather lazy and not very preoccupied with moving anyone along out of captivity."

"I think it is unlikely that they will actually hold a trial for him" Sarah said rather quietly to herself. "which is very good as it means that he can't be charged or punished for treason. It is likely that with a conversation or two the guards will let him go for a while. If we can convince them that he's not worth their trouble" As Sarah spoke Isabelle stared daggers at her which Sarah could not exactly understand. She was trying to put a positive spin on the whole situation for Isabelle, though it almost seemed to Sarah like the girl was remaining angry on purpose.

"I'm sure you would want to go talk to those guards wouldn't you?" She spat at Sarah in a voice that she almost felt was accusatory.

"We can go and talk to them about it tomorrow." James said with a smile. He did not seem to be aware of any of the tension that was looming around the table. As soon as he looked up from his plate at Isabelle, he saw her smiling at him.

"That sounds like a great idea James." Isabelle said in a cheerful voice.

"I am going to be working on the printing machine all day tomorrow" Said Moses plainly hoping to diffuse any tension that remained around "You should feel free to take the horse whenever you want. Henri you need to stay here and help me out. No complaints, I don't want you going over to the jail. I can see you getting into trouble too easily down there." Henri looked crestfallen but one look at Moses' face let him know that it was not a point worth arguing.

"Fine" He mumbled under his breath "Sarah, will you stay here with me though?" He said, a pleading look thrown in Sarah's direction. She smiled at him and nodded; it was not as if she really wanted to spend the day with Isabelle anyways.

"Great!" Said James smiling broadly. "What time do you want to go?" James asked Isabelle

"Oh whenever you want is great!" She said with a smile.

It was at that moment that Henri tried to take advantage of James looking at Isabelle and snatched another piece of chicken off of his plate. However James did notice this, causing a fight between the boys which lasted until Moses finally stood and told them all that supper was over and they were to clean up. Once the table was cleared Sarah went back up to her room to continue a letter to her mother, while Henri convinced Isabelle to come and play a game that he had recently created, involving some small rocks set up to look like soldiers. Moses went into the print room with James following after.

"Care to help me finally tighten this joint in fully?" Moses asked as he saw James come in. "It has done okay since we put it in,but I think the metal has contracted slightly, and I want to be sure its good and tight." James just nodded and went over to help old up the part while Moses began to tighten it.

"Moses, can I ask you about something?" James blurted out before he could get too nervous and chicken out. "Something personal?"

"Go ahead James." Moses answered, looking a little surprised. He could not think about what in the world the boy was wanting to talk about.

"It's just that-"

"James I do need you to keep holding that part up while you talk." Moses said, laughing a little as James jumped and went back to pushing upwards.

"Right! Sorry. It's just that, Isabelle is a really really really really nice woman." Moses gave a last grunt as he tightened the joint the last bit.

"James you really should expand your vocabulary" Moses said in a teasing manner. Though James simply glared at him a little, though not in a serious way. He knew Moses was only joking with him.

"You're starting to sound like Sarah." Said James, who was beginning to realize that maybe Sarah had a point about his choice of words.

Moses laughed a little and went over to the counter to wipe off his ink covered hands. "Look James. I don't have much I can tell you about this. But I can tell you this: Women are complicated on their very own. When trying to court one -which I am going to take a small leap of faith here is what you wanted to talk about- it is best to keep everything else as simple as possible. Try to not make it a time in her life when everything else is complicated also. The combination of all that complexity will be too much for you to keep track of."

James didn't really know what to do with this new information, so he simply nodded at Moses and left to go wash the ink off of his hands. He had a suspicion that this was Moses' way of saying that James should wait a little bit; which James agreed with. However he was stuck my Moses' statement about women being complicated. The woman who he interacted with most was Sarah, and he would wholeheartedly agree that she was complicated. James had long ago given up any hope of understanding her. But so far, Isabelle seemed simple. Her motives were very clear to James: She hated England and loved America and everything she did was based on that. He felt like he could easily understand her in a way he would never be able to understand Sarah.
