CASEY P.O.V
It was the day of the trial. I hadn't been able to sleep all night. I got up and went out into the lounge room where Lani was.
"What are you doing up so early"
"I could say the same about you" She said tying her hair up
"Couldn't sleep"
"I'm going for a surf you wanna come"
"Yeah sure, just let me get changed"
Lani looked as though she didn't care about what was going on, maybe that was a good thing. She wouldn't be making herself sick on it like me.
We walked down to the beach while the sun was coming up. It was beautiful. the pink and oragne sky and the crystal blue ocean. I had completely forgotten about everything. We went down to the sand and waxed our boards
"Hey Lan, how many days till your birthday" I asked
"Oh heartbroken that you forgot" She laughed "Three days"
"Three days till your sixteen"
"Yep"
"Baby sister no longer eh"
She pretended to kick sand at me
"I'll be able to drive though"
"oh no"
"Won't be that bad, can't be as bad as Brax"
I smiled at her.
"Race ya" She said picking up her board and running out into the water.
"No ya don't"
I had never ran so fast in my life. Before I knew it Lani was out in the break. Never decide to race a surf comp champion. oh well it was worth it. I was halfway out and Lani had already caught a wave but she cut out of the wave to catch up with me.
"You took your time" She said paddling next to me
"Very funny"
I sat up on my board
"Hop on"
"What about my board"
I looked at the shore line "Take it in and come back out"
"OK" She said turning around and paddling in
She swam back out to where I was and got on my board with me
"What are we gonna do"
"Don't you remember us doing this when we were little"
"I'm not little anymore"
"Oh well, YOLO"
"Really Casey that's so old" She laughed
"Yeah and so are you"
We paddled out to the break
"There's no waves"
"Their comin, hold on"
"Why"
"There's a wave coming
"That wave's bogus" She said turning around
"No its not" I replied
We managed to get on the wave. I kept pretending to tip the board like we did when Brax was trying to teach Lani how to surf. But I over did it and we wiped out. I heard Lani scream as we fell in the water.
"Your an Idiot" Lani said when we came back up
"Fun wasn't it"
She bit her lip and smiled. "Maybe" she laughed
When we walked back into the shore we saw someone familiar walking along the beach.
"Lani. start going home" I said to her
"Why"
"Just do it"
I watched her walk up to the grass hoping she was well away before anything happened
"BRAXTON" Andy yelled
"Walk away Andy"
"How long have you known"
"I only just found out"
"Don't you lie to me" He said punching me in the face letting me fall to the ground
"CASEY!" Lani yelled
"ANDY NO" Yelled josh
Lani and Josh both came running towards us. Josh tried to pull Andy off me while Lani tried to keep him away from me. I got up and looked at Lani who was looking at Josh.
"Walk away Andy, just pretend nothing happened" Lani said to him
As we walked back home Lani was in front of me. I kept thinking about her and Josh
"what was with that look you gave josh"
"Nothing case"
"Is there something going on between you"
"No why would there be" She replied
"I saw the way you looked at him"
"What look"
"The look"
"Whatever" She replied walking off
When we got home Heath and Ricky were up.
"I'll be in the shower" Lani said
I walked in after her. Heath looked at me
"What happened to you"
"Andy Barrett punched me"
"About Brax?"
"Yep"
"Why's Lani in a mood" Asked Ricky
"I asked her about her and Josh"
"Why"
"It was just the way they looked at each other"
"Whats this about?"
I turned around to see Mum standing in the door way
"Lani and Josh Barrett" I said
