I looked up and saw Nate standing in front of us. I felt my heart stop and the air go out of me.
"How is he?" Asked Heath
LANI P.O.V
"He's alright, he made it through surgery"
I felt all the muscles in my body finally relax.
"Thank god" I said to myself
"Can we see him" Asked Ricky
"Yeah, but only two at a time"
Heath and I went in to see him. He was asleep. I couldn't stop thinking about what he must have been thinking when it was me in his position. I went up and held his hand.
"This is not funny case, you can't do this to us" I whispered.
Heath was quiet. It was the first time in a long time. He had grown up so much in the last 3 hours. It was like he was a second Brax.

RICKY P.O.V
I walked in to the kitchen and saw Lani sitting in the kitchen with her homework all over the table.
"What are you doin?" I asked
"Study cause I have a chem, Human bio and a maths test and an English Essay"
"All tomorrow"
"And Thursday because I missed them on Monday and Tuesday"
"Maybe you should talk to Bianca"
"I'm not gonna use that to my advantage"
"Fair enough" She said "How long have you been at it for"
"Since I got home so... 2 hours"

I only did my homework because I wanted to take my mind off things, but maybe that wasn't a good idea. I couldn't spell right when I was doing my draft essay. I threw my pen down on the table and got up and got a drink. Nothing was going right I hated everything at the moment. After I went and cooled down I went back and sat at the table.
HEATH P.O.V
I sat at the kitchen table with Lani.
"Whats up homework buddy" I said putting down my stuff
She looked at me blankly like she didn't care
"Whats wrong"
"I'm stupid"
"Why do you say that"
"I can't do it"
"What do you need help with" I asked looking at her work
"NO HEATH, I don't need help" She yelled "You can't help stupid!"
She stormed off out the door as Ricky was coming in

Brax sat at the kitchen table trying to help Lani with her homework. She was getting frustrated with him.
"I can't do it" She said

"Yesterday..." He slowly read with Lani repeating it
"I don't want to do this anymore"
"That's ok, let's do some maths"
She looked at the book
"Why am I doing year 2 maths when everyone else is doing year four"
