Chapter 8: Fear

Annie woke up in the middle of the night. She was feeling feverish and light headed from being too close to Eren. She tried to put some distance between herself and Eren. Try as she might she couldn't seem to budged him. It seem as though he weighed more than her. She than placed her hands on his chest and pushed all the strength she had left in her. Finally, she was able to succeed.

Annie sat up and wiped her sweat that was already forming underneath her bangs.

"Crap, what am I doing?!" She spoke harshly asking herself.

Eren stirred. She ruffled his hair and he stopped shifting on her bed.

Annie continued to scold herself silently. She stared at the window a feet few away from her bed. She gazed into the empty night, lost in her thoughts. 'I must stop making promises; I seem to break them regardless of my situation.'

She sighed in defeat.

A few days ago, Annie refuses to see the doctor after she left speaking to Bertholdt.

Mina tried to force Annie to go to the infirmary but she quickly escape before she had the chance. Annie wasn't healing quickly due to stressing out. It was too much to handle those two idiots and because of that she ended up sick in bed. She wasn't terrified of needles but seeing the sight of it well it wasn't very pleasant. Her stomach would tighten whenever she tried to recall her past when she was a little kid. Her memories were hazy. She shook her head feeling the headache. She began to wonder what she should do.

It wasn't like Annie to be confused, indecisive, and most of all expressing her feelings. These feelings she had were foreign. She couldn't know what it is; it was at the tip of her tongue. She look at Eren, was he the cause of this. Did he somehow look past through her defense? It all started on that day when they began sparring.

"Eren, what are you doing to me?" Annie frown. She knew how much it was hurting him when she kept on pushing him away. She was certainly being selfish. All her life, she was taught to never trust anyone. Somehow Eren found his way in to her hear- well specifically her interest.

'Eren is more than that.'

'….'

'He isn't someone you can toy with'

'Tch'

'He has feelings'

'Feelings?'

'Admit it.'

'Shut up!'

Annie scowled at that thought. The voice left silently leaving her isolated. She yawned tired from over thinking it. She lay back down and closed her eyes. Exhaustion finally overwhelmed her.

Eren woke up at the early brink of dawn. He swung his legs over and slipped his shirt on. He leaned over and planted a kiss on Annie forehead lightly.

He whispered "Annie, I swear I will found a way to break those wall you surround yourself. I'll set you free."

He left heading back to his room. Little did he know she heard him.

"Hey?! What was that for?" Sasha pouted while she rubbed her hand where Mikasa left a bruised on her.

"You were trying to steal Eren meal." She replied calmly.

"But he's not eating, y'know." She mumbled quietly. She pointed at him. Mikasa shook her head as she continued to lector Sasha about stealing others food.

From afar, Jean was analyzing Mikasa. His eyes never leaving the sight of her as he sat there. He listens to their conservation. He wasn't eavesdropping or anything he can hear them loud and clear. He love listening to those soft voices when Mikasa spoke it put him at ease. But when he heard Mikasa mention Eren name, he gripped his spoon and clenched his jaw.

'That fucking lucky bastard' He tore his gaze and glared at Eren. It appears he was ignoring Mikasa and he was lost in his own world.

'The nerve of him! How can he ignore Mikasa, treating her as if she wasn't there?'

Eren stopped daydreaming. He felt like someone was watching his movements. It was starting to creep him out. He looked around and caught Jean glaring at him with hatred. He can particularly feel it and he didn't understand why. He let a sight out and flicked Jean off just to push his buttons.

"Eren, what are you doing?" Armin asked as he watches Eren and Jean in a staring contest. He found it amusing that these two often cause a ruckus.

"…" Eren remain silent.

Armin chuckled and continued to listen to Sasha blabbering.

'I refuse to lose to this fucker.' Jean thought angrily. His blood boiled when Eren flick him off. He broke his spoon in half and stood up. He walks toward Eren table. He crack his knuckle.

Eren stood he was ready to beat the shit out of Jean.

"What do you want? Shit face!" Eren asked getting into his face. Jean pushes him back and Eren stumbled.

"Shut it! Jaeger!" He snared.

"Oi, what the fuck was that for?" He snapped back.

"Take this!" Jean punched him on the mouth when he was caught off guard. His knuckles already bruising from the impact he left on his face. Blood oozed on Eren lip.

"You punch like a bitch!" He spit and grinned taunting him.

Across the room, Jean best friend, Marco, was sitting. He was trying to eat his breakfast peacefully but not today. Normally he would ignore their bickering, he was calm and collected but he didn't get enough sleep. Already in a pissed off mood, Marco had finally snap.

"I HAD ENOUGH ALREADY!" He shouted.

Causing everyone around him to stop what they were doing. They look at him astounded. Apparently, this is the first time he snapped. He wasn't the type to let things get to him.

Jean looks at his best friend in disbelief. His arms wrapped around Eren neck in a headlock.

'Whoa! What's gotten into him? Ants in his pants?'

"Yo, Mar-.." Jean didn't get to finish his sentence when Marco glared at him.

"You! Eren! I just can't take it anymore." He suddenly looks at them.

"He started it!" Eren pointed at him.

"What? You fucking did?!" He argued.

"Me? Horse shit, I did not!"

"Horse shit?"

"Heh, you don't know what you are. Dumbass!"

Un fucking believable.

Marco wanted to bang his head against the wall.

"You fucking bastard!"

Marco slammed his hands against the table. They stopped insulting each other.

"Shut the fuck! You two always arguing over some ridicules shit. Well, not today or tomorrow. I believe it's time to settle this." He looks around and everyone seems to agree with him. He looks at Eren and Jean their mouth closed tightly.

"How?" Armin asked as he broke the tension in the air.

"Tomorrow, we're gonna meet play a game. Be at the training ground by 3 P.M. I'll explain from there." Marco stood up and left to speak one of the commanders.

"Heh, I'm all fired up now!" Eren grinned.

Everyone began to chatter. They started to bet who was gonna win.

"Oi, Jaeger! Let's make a wager." Jean suggested.

'I can do this' He smirked.

"Wager?" Eren asked skeptical.

"That's right; if I win you'll have to listen to what I want to say tomorrow."

"Win? Someone is getting arrogant." He snorted.

"Whatever see ya around?!" He turned around and went after Marco.

"We'll see whose gonna win."

'What are you up to Jean?' His mood already lifting in high spirits.

A/N: Well I hope I made this chapter up for my lack of updates. I haven't abandon these stories so don't worry. To those who are looking forward to reading Levi, Hanji, and Erwin well they'll show up later in the chapters. I decide to make this story into 20 chapters since I won't able to fit it in 15 chapters as I wanted to finish. I will be updating a few weeks from now. Well stay tune.
