Chapter 13
It's a few weeks later when Jax is smoking a cigarette on the bleachers waiting on his friends, surrounded by three blond cheerleaders, that Tara comes up behind them and clears her throat. "Anything I can help you…girls with?" She asks. Her boyfriend can hear the annoyance in her question.
"Just hanging out." The one closest to Jax shrugs with a fake smile.
"Hang elsewhere." Tara's eyes narrow to slits.
The next one starts to say something but Jax cuts in. "Scram." He leaves no room for argument. All three blonds sigh in disappointment and it makes Tara wonder if they all share a brain between them. She watches as they all move away. "Bye Jax. See ya around." The third finally speaks.
"Or not." Tara mutters, loud enough for them to hear.
Jax reaches out to pull Tara near but she refuses to budge and glares at him. "What?" He asks on a sigh.
She rolls her eyes, "Seriously?"
"We were just talking Tara." Jax throws his cigarette on the ground and stomps on it.
"Sure." She smirks. "And how does it make you feel when I "talk" with my guy friends?"
"Kyle and David both want in your panties." He clarifies.
"And those cheerleaders want you in their panties!" She gives him a sarcastic laugh.
"The only panties I want to be in are yours." He gives her that cocky smirk that has been working on girls for as long as he can remember.
And she absolutely hates that it works on her at the moment. "In your dreams, Teller." Her grin takes out any bite behind the words.
"I've been dreaming about it." He pulls her to him and she goes willingly this time. "Want to hear about them?" He teases before dropping his lips to her neck.
"You better not leave anymore hickies!" She warns but knows it is useless. Teller loves marking his territory. Her father, however, does not like seeing them on her.
He grins against her neck. "I'll try not to."
"Yeah right." She moans as he moves up to the area behind her ear that drives her crazy. She runs her hand up to his hair and tugs, dropping a kiss on his temple as she does.
They are both brought out of their passion by Donna's voice. "Jax! Opie's about to get into a fight!" She informs them breathlessly and it's obvious that she ran to the bleachers.
As Jax sits on the toilet of the TM bathroom, Tara is standing in a straddle position focused intensely on cleaning Jax up. He's definitely turned on by how seriously she is taking this. "You'd make a good doctor someday." He notes with a wince as she dabs his eyebrow with a cotton swab of peroxide.
"I think so too." She admits with a smile. "That's why I want to go to college."
"I don't think I've ever known anyone who went to college." Jax admits. Tara seems so lost in thought he wonders if she's even heard him. He is unable to call her on it though because Gemma comes barreling in.
"What the hell happened?" She demands, with a hand on her hip, she takes in the scene before her.
"Op had a problem." Jax answers.
"You help him handle it?" His mother asks, with a nod of the head.
"Yup." Her son smiles. "Sure did."
"That's my boy." Gemma smiles. "Come get something to eat when you're done. You too, Tara."
Tara just looks at Gemma's back as she walks away in confusion. She had no idea how a mother was supposed to act but she didn't think they should be automatically condoning a fight involving their son without finding out any information.
"What's going on in that head of yours, Knowles?" Jax pleads.
"Why did you jump into that fight?" Tara asks softly, blowing on the cut on his eyebrow when he winces.
"Opie's my best friend…more like a brother." He answers in a bit of confusion.
"But you were outnumbered." She sighs. "You could have been hurt."
"Opie could have been hurt worse if I didn't jump in." He stops her hand as she starts to clean his lip. "This can't be the first fight you've seen me in." He tries for a grin but it is a grimace with his cut lip. "I can handle my own."
She wonders why when he says it she doesn't find it cocky at all. Then realizes it is because it is the truth. He can handle his own…easily. But that's not what bothers or confuses her. "I know you can handle your shit." She runs the hand he is not holding through his hair. "I guess I just don't get how you can jump into a fight no questions asked."
"I don't need to ask questions." Jax shrugs. "Opie's in trouble then I'm there no matter what. He'd do the same for me. We'd both do the same for you or Donna."
"Really?" Tara asks, "Just like that?"
"Automatically." He confirms. "It's about family…it's abo…"
He is cut off by her lips on his. The kiss is fierce, frantic and something else he can't define. The pressure on his cut lip sort of hurts but there is no way in hell he is stopping her as she sits down to straddle his lap, never breaking their kiss. He opens his lips easily when her tongue runs across the seam and he gives her all the control she wants.
She takes that control and runs with it as she feels him harden beneath her. Suddenly realizing that she may be hurting his cut lip she never takes her hand from his hair but does leave his mouth, not going far to rake her teeth over his pulse.
"Goddamn Tara" Jax groans when her hips rock against him.
She's not sure what's gotten into her. Actually that's not true. It's one part the way he says her name and the other part is his fierce loyalty. She's never met anyone like him before and no one has ever referred to her as family before. She sucks on his neck as his hips finally lose some of their control and thrust against hers as well. She finally pulls her mouth away from his body on a moan and he takes the opportunity to dive into her neck. As her hips thrust against his once again he runs his hands up her back under her t-shirt.
As his hand come around and pulls the cup of her bra down so he can tease her nipple with his thumb, it never occurs for her to stop him. He pulls back to watch her reaction. He doesn't know if she's even close to being ready for sex. They've only been doing whatever the hell they are doing a few short weeks. It's the longest he's waited for any girl but he is too afraid to push her away. But the way her pelvis is steady meeting his thrust for thrust tells him how turned on she truly is. He needs to put a stop to it though because they are in the TM bathroom and he is dangerously close to coming in his pants like some kid. But he quickly loses that thought as her back arches, pushing her breast in his hand. He smiles, despite his cut lip as he again teases her nipple with his thumb. He runs his other hand up to her hair and pulls her lips to his.
Neither pay attention to Bobby's voice asking, "You done in there yet kids? I gotta piss." Until they hear the door open and hit the sink.
Tara shrieks and then buries her face in Jax's neck. Jax meets Bobby's knowing grin. He clears his throat. "Never mind, I'll go in the clubhouse."
Jax subtly removes his hand from Tara's shirt as Bobby backs out the door. "Damn, I need to get into more fights if this is my reward."
Tara smacks him playfully. "You're a class act, Teller." She groans backing up but not lifting off of him.
"I am definitely not complaining." He clears his throat, grabbing her hair in his fist. Damn, he loves the feel of her hair. "But what brought that on?"
She smiles shyly at him and he knows he would do just about anything to see that smile. "I've never met anyone like you Jackson."
"I'm not all that rare, babe." He shrugs.
"You're pretty special to me." She admits shyly. Then she clears her throat. "You know if I had to choose someone special." She tries to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, of course." He grins full on, ignoring his lip once again. "Well if I had to pick someone special, I'd pick you too."
"Is that right?" Tara smiles. She touches his forehead with hers. "What am I going to do with you, Teller?"
"Keep doing what you're doing." He kisses her on the nose. "I wouldn't change a thing."
"Me either." She sighs, finally lifting off of him. "Let's get out of the bathroom before people start talking."
"Oh they're already talking, babe." He assures her.
When she rounds the corner with his hand in hers and meets the gaze of the men in the garage she knows that Jax was absolutely right, they are talking about them. She looks up at Jax with a blush and he wraps his arm around her shoulder, "Come on woman, let me feed you." He drops a kiss to the top of her head as he leads her to the clubhouse.
