"Dreams"
O sweet cautery,
O delightful wound!
O gentle hand! O delicate touch
that tastes of eternal life
and pays every debt!
In killing you changed death to life.
Regina woke up with a start.
Robin was up in a second.
"Bad dream?"
"Yes."
"Do you want to talk about it?" he rubbed her arm.
Regina thought about it. "Not sure."
"Regina, we share everything."
"Even if it may hurt you?" she asked.
Robin shrugged, "I'm a grown man. I can handle it."
And so she relayed how in her dream as the Evil Queen she had captured Marian and sentenced her to death. But then as it turned out, Emma had traveled to the past with Hook, bringing her back to Storybrooke. Robin had gone to his wife and left Regina alone.
Robin was rubbing his forehead, obviously digesting it.
She'd warned him dammit!
Finally he spoke, "Beloved," he sighed. "First, let's look at this logically. Is Emma stupid?"
Regina paused too long. He grinned, "Logically, Regina! Is she?"
"Not about something like this," Regina admitted. "Even she would know not to mess with death."
"Yes... Now, number two, if you had captured my Marian and paraded her around…not to be too proud of myself…but I am well known, as was my wife. People would have recognized her. I would have moved Heaven and Hell to be back with her. Don't you think that I would have sought out that information? Found out that you had captured and killed her?"
"Yes," Regina admitted.
"And even if you had killed her, remember I was the one who had put her in danger, recklessly broke the law through my pride, and if the Evil Queen had caught my love by my fault… Regina, I know how many you killed. And I still love you. I know that you have changed. It would be hard, but ultimately, none of us are innocent." He gripped the ring around his neck, "I know what this means, all of it."
Regina smiled.
"I would have forgiven you," he whispered, kissing her. "I would have no choice…but, it didn't happen. I saw her die." Regina hugged him. "And don't forget," he soothed. "I've killed innocents too. We're all killers, you, me, Snow, Rumplestiltskin….killers all. We will always be penitents, but penitents together!"
A tear dropped down her check, "Together. Yes. Always together."
Yet the dream told them that there was something that needed to be done.
The next day they went with Roland to Sherwood Forest.
It was time to say goodbye.
All three laid a single rose on Marian's grave.
And then went back to the castle to move forward.
