Emma was sitting at the kitchen table, staring at her phone. She had been sitting there for a while now and wasn't even sure what she was looking at. A name. A reminder.

"Morning, ma," Henry said as he came in.

"Morning. Did you sleep okay?"

"Yeah, still a little weird to wake up in a strange room, though," he answered and sat next to her. "What're you doing?"

"I just," Emma sighed. "deleted Walsh's number."

"Oh," Henry made. He frowned as he looked at her.

"There's something I haven't told you about him and I think I should."

"There's a lot you haven't told me lately. For example, what we're really doing here and if we're ever going back home," Henry reminded her and he sounded angry.

"I'm sorry, kid. It's all so.. complicated but… about Walsh. He… I wanted to marry him, you know? I wanted to but couldn't and… when I told him, he attacked me," she said and he gasp.

"He did what?!"

"It's okay, I know how to defend myself but it was… pretty scary for a moment there. So now you know," she said and looked at him expectantly.

"So, coming here was to get away from him?"

"No, not really," Emma answered and looked at Henry apologetically because there were still things she couldn't tell him.

He rolled his eyes at her and then - just to divert both their attentions - he looked at her phone.

"Who's Regina?" he asked.

"You met her, the mayor of Storybrooke," Emma said surprised.

"You call her by her first name?"

"Yeah, it took us awhile but… yeah."

"That means you know her pretty well. You know everybody here pretty well, don't you?" Henry kept asking.

"How do you figure that out?"

"I don't know. It's just… when you look at her, the mayor, and she at you, it's like there's a whole history behind that. Like what you're saying to each other is part of a long, ongoing conversation you had some time ago," he explained but didn't feel that he'd explained it well. He was making a face.

Emma thought about that as she looked back at her phone.

"Were you two like… together?" Henry asked.

"What?!" Emma's head jerked back to him and she stared. "No!"

"No reason to freak, ma. I mean… Jacob's got two dads, you know that, right?"

"It's not like that, Henry. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with… we weren't together, Regina and I," she said when she finally got over the shock of even just the idea.

Her and Regina? Now that would have been a fiery relationship! Not fiery, in a passionate sense, of course, but just because they would probably have killed each other at some point…. right.

"But you were close, right? Did she like… raise me?"

"What makes you think that? Did she say anything to you?" Emma asked slightly panicky that Regina should have tried to remind him of her.

"No, she didn't but… it's a little weird, ma. You're always so protective of me but then we come to this town, where you obviously have lived before… and you trust everyone to just hang out with me. Like they know me, or like they used to know me. And she knew my favorite ice cream, too. So I think, I've been here before, maybe when I was really little because I don't remember anything about here," Henry answered with growing annoyance because his mother who had barely ever lied to him as far as he could tell, was now lying to him and it was driving him nuts. She wasn't even good at it!

"Regina… yeah, she… was involved with your… upbringing. She was… a mother to you… for a while," Emma stammered.

"You wanna know my theory?" Henry asked.

"What's that?"

"I think you were in a foster home together, you, Regina, probably Mary-Margaret, too. And after you had me, I mean you were young and came out of jail, you came here because Regina was the mayor… or maybe she wasn't back then because she must have been young, too. But she was… like a big sister to you in foster care and that's why you came here. Am I good so far?"

Emma smiled and put her hand on Henry's head. She stroked his hair and he shook his head a little but didn't retreat completely.

"It's a nice theory but… no, sorry."

"Then tell me," he asked of her.

"For now, can't we just say that… Regina was important in your life? And that she… would like to know you again?"

"Is that what you want, too? For her to know me?" he asked and it took her a moment to think about it. But then she nodded.

"Yes, I think it would be good for both of you," she answered.

"Any you're sure the two of ou weren't… involved?" he asked with a grin.

"I'm quite sure," she answered smiling.

"Would you want to be? I mean… she's a fine-looking lady."

And now Emma was laughing.

"I'm not really ready to start dating again. But… erm, if I am I'll consider her, okay?" Emma noticed the heat rushing to her cheeks as she said that, even though it was only meant as a joke.

Henry smiled.

"I like her, she seems to know… what's what, you know?"

"She keeps it real," Emma agreed.

"I'll get ready for school. You still want me to go, right? For as long as we'll be here?"

"Yeah, kid. I don't want you to fall behind in your learning," she told him and he rolled his eyes.

"Just wanted to make sure you didn't change your mind on that," he said and sauntered off toward the bathroom.

Emma followed his slow unenthusiastic walk until he closed the door behind him, then she looked back at her phone. 'Regina,' was all it said.
