Shane's chest was heaving as he moved further into the room leaving the door standing wide open. Daryl watched him and was already standing despite the pain that had shot through his side the second he'd moved. There was something in Shane's eyes here lately that wasn't right and it was even worse now. The man hadn't been right since Rick had made it into the group and Daryl figured it was because with Rick back Shane had lost the only willing piece of pussy he'd gotten.

"What the fuck are you doin' Shane?" Daryl barked.

Shane's wild eyes landed on him and he moved across the room, "You brought him here and you've guaranteed us all a damned death sentence DIXON!"

Daryl raised a brow at the unhinged look in Shane's eyes. He felt it in his bones that something wasn't right with Shane and it was only getting worse. Some people just weren't cut out to make it and maybe Shane was meeting his expiration date.

"Has he even done anything?" Daryl growled, "Man could have easily killed me out there but he didn't."

"He could have a group waiting to come here! To rape our women! Rape Carol or even Sophia! They could take this farm and..."

Daryl felt his anger reach a fever pitch at Shane's words and stepped forward his stitches pulling, "You shut your goddamn mouth with that nasty fucking shit."

"Can't handle facts Dixon?" Shane snarled stepping into him. "Then maybe you shouldn't be out here with Carol or her girl. Hell you can't even keep yourself safe. She needs a man who can and I just don't think you cut it."

Daryl went to open his mouth but a growl from behind him had him looking over his shoulder. Carol was there only pausing a second before she was walking across the room her eyes on fire. The look in her eyes was wasn't something he ever wanted directed at him and he felt his nuts crawl up in his body to hide from the woman making her way towards him.

"Is that what you think Shane?" Carol quipped her voice with false calm.

Shane nodded his eyes going heated, "I do."

"Well I'm going to let you in on something Shane...if you think you can do better than him you're wrong, dead fucking wrong." Carol snarled, "I will not play replacement for Lori and Carl for you!"

"DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT HER!" Shane screamed his hand connecting with her chest and shoving her back eyes wild. "You don't get to talk about her!"

Carol stumbled and fell back and the room exploded. Daryl seen red and his head whipped around focusing on Shane. All pain from his side disappeared as adrenaline slammed and burned through his system. He heard Carol hit the solid oak of his flooring and something shattering around her and he snarled. Shane's chest was heaving glaring down at her and still screaming but Daryl couldn't hear his words over the roar of blood thundering through his head.

Fist connecting with Shane's jaw he was knocked back and down. Daryl was moving without thought as he dragged Shane towards the door snarling like an animal. Carol was scrambling off the floor in his peripheral vision but he was lost in his rage that this man would walk in his house and lay hands on her. He was a special breed of fucking stupid.

Shane jerked away from his hand and Daryl threw his elbow back catching Shane in the nose and blood sprayed down his arm and Shane's chest.

"DARYL!" Merle's voice boom followed by the sound of running.

He knew the sounds of his brother's movements and knew Mac was ahead of Merle. Mac was quicker than him and he was likely to pissed to even speak. Daryl didn't give a fuck.

"You stay the fuck away from her and her little girl you goddamned psychopath." Daryl leaned into his face his voice low and menacing. "I so much as catch you darkening my door step again Martinez or your imaginary enemies will be the least of your fucking worries."

"Fuck you Dixon! When everyone here is killed and they are getting raped by his group we'll see whose right."

Daryl snarled his hand gripping Shane's throat and cutting off his air, "I'll tell you one goddamn thing if you keep saying shit like that and her girl hears then you'll die a lot fucking sooner than you think you sick fuck."

"Daryl let him go." Mac's voice was hard.

Soft hands gripped his forearm and Daryl leaned back letting Shane go with no warning and thumped hard against the wood of the porch. Daryl finally looked up at the crowd around him and felt his anger flaring again. Hershel was walking his way over calmly but Daryl knew better. He hadn't like Shane from day one. Rick was there his eyes wide and angry on the man laying below him bleeding and bitching. Merle had a strange look on his face as he studied the group. Mac was there right at his side with Annette moving towards Carol with Andrea in tow. Most of them seem shocked at the outburst and the scene around them.

"You out there looking for dead girls when you should have been here helping protect these people!" Shane barked.

Annette made a noise off to his right and Daryl cringed but Mac's voice sliced the air dripping malice.

"No one will search for you."

Carol and Annette were both moving towards him and he was still crouched. The adrenaline was fading and he felt a searing pain lancing his side and didn't even want to look down. He was pretty sure he had popped a stitch or even all of them.

"Rick this man is part of your group and I told you and warned you that you needed to keep him on a leash." Hershel looked at Rick and shook his head, "Now he comes out here running his mouth at one of my boys and I aint gonna have that."

Mac spun looking at Daryl as if he could feel the pain that Daryl had in his side himself. His eyes were searching his face and then he paled and stood gripping Daryl under his arm and making him stand with him. A groan slipped from between his clenched teeth and Mac's arm was around his ribs forcing him to walk with him.

"What the fuck was he here for?" Mac snarled.

Daryl shook his head, "Was saying stuff about Martinez having a group and..." Daryl's eyes went to the women around him and he licked his lips, "Then he was talking crazy about Carol and Lori. He hit Carol and you seen the rest."

Hershel's eyes blazed, "Son did you lay hands on that woman?"

Shane was standing and mopping the blood off his face, "I barely touched her shoulder he's blowing it up."

Hershel looked to Carol as Annette and Andrea stepped next to her the women looking at her, "Carol sweetie what happened?"

Carol glared at Shane and then looked over at Daryl. He cringed as Mac shifted his feet and he set heavily in a chair on his porch hand going to his side. Daryl eyed her back and he seen that anger still burning there.

"He hit me hard enough to take me to the ground." Carol growled.

Hershel moved closer to the porch and looked at Shane head on, "You got a decision to make son."

"Oh yeah what's that old man?" Shane snapped.

"You can leave willingly or by force but one way or another you will be off my property." Hershel's voice held a conviction of a righteous man.

Shane started laughing, "Yeah well what will you do when you are left with no protection cause me and my group roll out of here."

"You misunderstand son." Hershel's voice was sending chills down Daryl's spine, "YOU are to leave this property but the rest are more than welcome to stay."

Shane's eyes shot to Rick and he shook his head, "I'm doing what is best for Carl here Shane."

"Don't need you slowing me down anyways. Go on ahead and stay then but the rest of us will be packed and gone before dark."

Shane's eyes went to Andrea as if commanding her to agree with him but her hand was gripping Carol's tight. He snarled and stormed away. Daryl's eyes followed him as did Mac's and Merle's. All three brothers watching a very real threat walk away.

Hershel walked up the steps and towards Carol, "You alright?"

Mac squatted down just as Daryl forced himself standing holding in any noise of complaint. He walked stiffly into his house and down the hall with Mac trailing him. He knew Mac wouldn't leave until he was damn well and ready so he wasn't wasting his time bitching at him to get him to leave. He was long use to Mac's harping over him.

"How bad?" Mac questioned his voice quiet and angry.

Daryl shrugged but hissed at the motion. Stepping into the bathroom with Mac in the door way Daryl worked his shirt open and groaned when he seen the bandage soaked in blood. Mac made a noise in his throat and stepped forward pushing Daryl against the wall and he let him. The pain in his side was growing and he let the wall support his weight. Mac started pulling the bandage away and growled in his throat.

Mac looked at him and their eyes met both quiet as Merle stepped into the door frame, "Hershel is hot after Shane."

Daryl looked over at Merle as he Mac rifled through his cabinets looking for his first aid box. "Fuck Shane."

"Carol said something about him saying shit about rape." Merle's voice was calm for once and Daryl studied him.

He nodded, "He was saying shit about her and Kit getting raped."

A loud thump and followed by cussing sounded and Mac pulled his head out of the cabinet his face murderous, "He fucking said what?"

"That what got your tail feathers ruffled?" Merle questioned. "You aint quick to lose your shit and you knew you weren't in fighting condition but that went right out the window."

"He fucking HIT HER!" Daryl barked his voice booming in the small room.

Merle got that look again and Mac turned looking at him two. Noah flashed through their mind and the woman who was his mother. She wasn't much of a mother to begin with and had joint custody with Merle until they noticed marks on his skin when he was younger. All three them had been ready to kill that woman and damn near done it. After that the thought of a man or woman either one laying hands on someone who didn't deserve just set them on fire.

"He can't walk off this property you know that right?" Mac spoke low.

Daryl nodded at him and looked down as Mac started wiping away the blood. "I know."
