Epilogue

Jaune yawns loudly as he gazes at the sunrise. It's 6:38 right now, and class won't start until a couple of hours but he couldn't sleep with all of Nora's snoring. He knew they shouldn't let her stay up too late and now it seems he's being punished for it.

He couldn't help but wonder how Ruby's team mission went. His team was kinda jealous they got one but to be honest he was relieved in not having to fight monsters late at night. At least the books don't bite back at you.

Well, better hit the showers while there is still hot water. Jaune noted. As he was about to leave, he suddenly heard a faint jet engine getting louder and louder which each passing second. He realized that it's the same aircraft that Team RWBY was on. "They weren't here the whole time?" Jaune questioned, never really had the thought that RWBY would still be out there after all those hours.

The ship carefully lands at the helipad, a few blocks away from Jaune, before opening the exits. He hurried over there to check on the girls expecting to see satisfied faces with the mission deeming as a success, but his thought changed dramatically as soon as he saw the group of guards leaving the vehicle with a stretcher holding a covered body.

"No... could it be-"

He was relieved a bit once he saw all four of the girls leaving the aircraft one by one but their faces look even worse than the guards. He slowly walk towards them and can hear the conversation from Weiss and Blake.

"I don't even feel like eating now..." Weiss groaned, "I just want to stay in my bed all day..."

"One of us have to give the administrators our report of the mission." Blake reminded her but it seems Weiss couldn't hear her over her own yawns, "I guess it has to be me then..."

Right behind them is Yang slouching forward with dark lines under her eyes. It would be wise for Jaune not to say a word and let her pass through. "Hey Weiss-"

"Bug off" Weiss snapped and continued walking away.

"O-okay?... How's it going Blake-"

The faunus ignored him like usual but it felt different from the last time she did. "Nice to see you too..." he said quietly. He turns to expect Ruby having an optimistic smile on her face but she wasn't looking ahead at all. Her hidden eyes are fixed upon the ground and walked by Jaune without saying a word. This was definitely not like her.

"Hey! Ruby are you alright-AH!" he shouted as soon as he touched her shoulder a bat suddenly flew at his face making him fall backwards. Ruby stopped as the strange bat flew back into her missing shoulder and merged with her. She turn slightly and stared at her own hands as her aura suddenly began flickering.

"It's gone..." she murmured, probably talking about the weird ability she had, "I guess he's really..."

"Are you okay?" Jaune rose from the ground as she turns her face towards him. He can see her cheeks stained with tears and dried blood on the palm of her hands, it doesn't even look like monsters' blood. She knew what he was looking at but didn't say a word.

"What happened back there?" he asked sincerely.

Ruby swallowed and rubbed her tired eyelids with both her hands. "It's a long story," she said but intends to tell him every detail that happened in that facility.

The End...

This update may come as a surprise to you all, but I felt the need to come clean with it. I have just learned of the terrible news about the creator of RWBY series, Monty Oum. He has passed away and... It's strange to be so upset about someone you never knew directly and indirectly but his death hit me hard.

Originally, I got into RWBY not only because it has cast members from Roosterteeth, the epic animated fight scenes, and the amazing quality of characters. Monty Oum was an inspiration, his hard work and dedication to animating was amazing. I loved and respected the series for it, hoping it will receive the popularity as RvB did.

That being said, any of those who had read the previous message and alerted/favorited this story will now know that I won't be making another RWBY story I had originally planned. It may be hard to understand, but after his passing I completely lost all hope of continuing the story. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for reading.

Rest in peace, Monty.
