"Max snap out of this." Robyn shouted over the banging music at her brother, he'd been down for weeks now, sometimes he was just miserable and other times he was angry. Things had been improving and now they seemed to be going back down hill.
"I never wanted this god damn Halloween party anyway." Max replied as he brushed against some hanging spiders webs and made for the stairs.
"Is this still this mystery woman?" Robyn asked, mindful that Lofty was certain that Max had made him up, only Robyn had never seen Max like this. He'd fallen slightly for people in his teens but never had he gotten so hung up on someone, never had he been so down.
"She wasn't just a mystery woman, she was the one Robyn." Max shouted as he turned and walked into the kitchen, picking up a bottle of vodka as he did so. "I'll be in my room if you want me." He finally said as he saw more people come into the house, people he didn't recognise as they were dressed as various zombies and witches.
He lay on his bed, on the side that he still considered her side, the pillow still smelled faintly of her, Coco Chanel and cigarettes. The socket by his bed still housed her spare phone charger for when she stayed the night. Half the bottle of vodka soon seemed to disappear as he lay there, trying to block out the noise of the party from downstairs and instead trying to recall all memories he had of Zoe, he was disturbed by a knock on his door.
"I've already told you Robyn, go away." Max called, it was clearly a waste of breath though as the door opened and in walked a woman dressed as a zombie nurse. The room was dark, meaning he wasn't immediately able to recognise who it was who now faced him, in fact it was the smell that gave her away. "Zoe?"
"Yeah, is this a private party?" She asked as she took the bottle of vodka from his hands and had a swig.
"Not anymore it isn't." Max replied sitting up slightly on his side of the bed, allowing Zoe to sit on the side that was once hers.
"All I've heard about you since I've been back is how miserable you've been. Are you trying to make me feel bad?" Zoe asked as she took another swig and then watched as he did the same.
"No Zo, I missed you you know."
"I know you did, I just heard Robyn say that you're depressed because you lost 'the one'."
"Oh, I'm sorry Zo but if there's not a point in this then I'd rather just drink this and fall into a drunken coma."
"Who said I didn't have a point?"
"No one, you're usually a lot quicker at making your point though." Max retorted.
"Okay, I'm sorry Max. I'm sorry for going away and barely saying two words when I did. I'm sorry for breaking your heart. I'm sorry for not saying a word when I was gone but most of all, I'm sorry, I was wrong."
"Wrong about what?" Max asked as he turned to face her.
"Saying we were just goofing around before, I had time to think while I was away. I do want to be with you, and properly. I'm not sure yet that you're 'the one' but I am willing to give this another go Max."
"I guess the question is then, does anyone know that you're up here?" Max whispered as the two seemed to subconsciously move closer to one another.
"No." Zoe whispered, and found herself being cut off as his lips once again found hers. His taste was one that was now familiar and that she was growing to love.
"I love you Zoe Hanna." Max said as he pushed Zoe back onto the bed and hovered above her.
"I love you too Max Walker."
Happy Halloween all, I hope you enjoyed my slight Halloween themed Zax fic. This is what I wish would happen on Saturday but more than likely won't! They need to get back together. This idea came to me as I was watching Zax YouTube videos (they're so perfect) and then I decided it should be halloween themed so here is the result!
