Chapter 15: Sleepless Night
Astrid's POV
Okay tonight was not going well for me, first Lyna runs off then Stoick shows up and now I find out that Lyna's evil subconscious has taken over her and is running loose on Berk.
"You guys can stop her right?" I ask nervously. The group descends into silence. "Its not that easy," Toric says,, "Last time we got lucky and Valkyrie wouldn't fall for it again,"
"Most likely she'll have planned this out," Marcus speaks up, "It'll be damned near impossible to get Lyna back."
"Well how did you stop her last time." I ask.
"Well we trapped her and tied her up and tried reasoning with her and... well it worked." Marcus tells me.
"I doubt that would work again." Stoick says in a gruff voice. I shiver slightly as he looks at me.
"Well maybe Gothi would know what to do!" I pipe up.
Marcus looks at me, "She might actually we'll need to go see her now."
"But it'll take ages to walk!" Agnes complains.
"Well we could call Stormfly and Toothless and they could take us there." I suggest.
"Do it." Toric tells me as he turns to Stoick. "Chief I'm afraid this has to wait till the current crisis is over." He tells him.
"Listen boy I want to see my son and Nico... I did wrong and I want to... I want... to... apologise for it." He cringes at the word.
I try to hold back the laughter but I can't and I burst out laughing much to Stoick's dismay, I double over in laughter as his face blushes red.
"I... never... thought I'd see... the day... you... apologised," I air quoted the word with my fingers, "To someone."
"Well... it was er a large error on my part." Stoick mumbles.
"Large mistake hah!" I say, "You destroyed Nico's arm he'll be lucky to be able to use it again!"
Stoick just looks down at the ground, obviously ashamed of what he did, "What's done is done I just want to tell him I'm sorry for it and that I wasn't thinking straight..."
I feel my anger mellow, "He's asleep now Stoick and we've got to find Lyna... but if you help us and call a temporary truce with the dragons I promise you can see both Hiccup and Nico once this is all over." I reason.
He looks at me and in his eyes I see the resistance to agreeing to the truce but then he sighs and nods his head. "Very well then... I'll call a meeting tomorrow in the great hall and I'd like you all to be there... as my personal guests which means you won't be harmed."
I look at the others who are all either looking at one another and just staring daggers at Stoick.
"We accept." I say stepping forward and extending my hand.
"We?" Agnes shouts stepping up to me. "We can't trust him Astrid..." She whispers.
"We can trust me I know when someone is lying or not and... he's not... please Agnes have faith in me if in anyone." I plead.
She sighs and nods. "But someone needs to stay behind and look after Hiccup and Nico." She says.
"I will." Toric says as he tests his bowstring. He looks at me, "I'm not well liked in the village... more so than the others so I'll stay behind."
"Okay so its sorted we'll meet you later at the Great Hall Stoick with our dragons after we see Gothi, and make sure that no one attacks us or the dragons or we will fight back." I say as Stoick shakes my hand.
"I'll personally see to it that Fishlegs, Gobber and myself are the only ones who meet you there." He says before turning to Fishlegs who had watched the entire conversation in silence. "Fishlegs lets go."
I stand and watch the two disappear into the forest. "Okay Hunter you and Toric move Hiccup in with Nico so that Toric only has one house to watch." I order,
"Who put you in charge?" Hunter demands as he walks up to me.
"I did," I say threateningly as I glare at him, "So back off!"
He raises his hands slowly as he walks back and starts walking to get Hiccup with Toric.
"Hm if I didn't know any better I'd say you were just like Lyna." Diana comments as she looks me in the eye.
"Yeah," A feeling of sadness flows down my chest as I think of her.
"Hey don't worry we'll find her she can take care of herself." Marcus says.
"I know." I reply as I bring two fingers to my mouth and whistle loudly. A squawk is heard in replying followed by the sound of flapping wings, I smile before remembering Scorched.
"Has anyone seen that orange Terrible Terror we brought back here?" I ask.
"Not in a while it seems to have disappeared." Agnes replies as the wing beats get closer. It's then I make out two silhouettes well one and a bit of another seeing as Toothless is basically camouflaged against the night sky. It's then I spot a flash of orange riding on Toothless' back.
"What the heck?" I say aloud as the two dragons land and Toothless reveals a sleeping Scorched on his back.
"How'd he get with you?" I ask as I walk over. Toothless growls as I reach for the sleeping Terror.
"Calm Toothless I'm just petting him." I assure the Night Fury as I stroke the top of the small Terror's head. Still asleep the Terror lets out a coo and his tail starts swishing left to right. The sight is adorable and I can't help letting out an aw."
Toothless snorts and gently shakes his back waking up Scorched. The Terror lets out a whine as he slowly opens his eyes and yawns. I slowly pick him up, at the same time giving Toothless a look saying not to interfere, and head towards the house Nico was in.
"I wonder if I should tell Nico about Lyna..." I shake my head and keep walking. "No need for him to get worried over especially when he can't do anything in his state." Scorcher shifts in my arms as I nudge open the door. "Don't worry its just while we're gone, you have to rest if that legs to get any better." I say assuringly as I set him down on a table next to Nico's sleeping figure. The Terror squawks in joy when he spots Nico and moves to go sit on him. I grab the Terror and set him back on the table. "No Scorcher don't wake him up okay he needs more rest than you." I scold, the Terror's ears flop and he makes a sad noise in understanding.
"Okay good boy now get some rest and I'll see you later." I call as I step back out the door and almost walk into Toric and Hunter, bringing Hiccup to this house, "Oh sorry guys didn't see you there." I apologise.
"It's fine." Hunter grunts, "But could ya get the door?"
"Yeah sure." I reply as I push the door open for them.
"Um maybe this isn't such good idea..." Hunter says from behind Marcus as he gets on Toothless. Toothless growls at his comment and Hunter gulps audibly.
"Man up Hunter we're just going to Gothi's hut it's not that far." Agnes shouts at him from her seat behind me on Stormfly.
"Hey guys maybe I should stay behind here," Diana calls, "I mean I don't think there's room for anymore on either of the dragons."
"Are you sure?" Marcus asks.
"Yeah don't worry I'll help Toric look after Nico and Hiccup." She replies.
"Okay well we'll be back soon." Marcus says, "Okay Toothless let's fly."
The Night Fury snorts and shoots off into the night, I hear what sounds like someone wooping with joy and someone else swearing very loudly. Agnes starts laughing uncontrollably as we take off, slower than the others, and head off in the direction after Toothless.
3rd Person POV
When Astrid and Agnes arrived at Gothi's they saw Hunter kissing the ground and Marcus doubled over in laughter.
"Oh man I am never leaving you again." Hunter promises as he kisses the ground again.
"Oh great," Astrid sighs a the sight as Agnes walks over and whacks Hunter on the arm.
"OW!" The massive teen yells as he grips his arm.
"Jeez! Man up it was only like five minutes to fly here." Agnes crosses her arms and shakes her head slowly in disapproval.
"You weren't on that thing... it... was... horrible," He shivers to add to the point, "My insides are still flying around inside my stomach."
Meanwhile Astrid had started walking towards the Elder's hut. After knocking three times she stands and listens to the continuous bickering between Agnes and Hunter as she patiently waits for Gothi to answer.
"Ugh..." She face palms as Marcus jumps into the argument and ultimately makes it worse. "Why are you guys so immature?!" Astrid hisses under her breath. A small cough sends the unsuspecting girl jumping back and knocking into a barrel before falling over. The racket shuts up the other three and they all turn to see an embarrassed Astrid sitting up covered in fish grease that spilled from the knocked over barrel. Hysterical laughter starts up as she gets up and tries to wipe some of the greasy substance off. She glares at them and looks to see an unimpressed Gothi shaking her head slowly at her.
"What? Okay you gave me a fright it wasn't my fault you shouldn't sneak up on people like that." She whines as Gothi rolls her eyes and gestures for her to come in.
"So not funny." She mutters as she walks into the small house. She shivers remembering what happened here a day ago. Gothi points at a seat for her to sit on and disappears into another room, returning shortly with a towel. She offers it to Astrid who almost snatches it in her haste to get the grease off.
"Thanks." Astrid says as she hands back the towel, now covered in grease, to Gothi, the small woman nods and is about to leave the room when a high pitched scream rips through the air followed by the sound of a dragon roaring.
"Oh gods..." Astrid mutters, recognising the laugh, as she sprints and slams open the front door.
"Ruff!" She shouts as she sees her friend back against a wall with Stormfly slowly advancing on her. "Astrid help!" She yells back, Astrid turns and sees the other three teens sitting around completely ignoring the commotion.
"What the hell are you doing?!" She screams at them as she runs and tries to clam down the angry Nadder. "It's okay Stormfly it's just Ruffnut remember she's a friend." Slowly the Nadder's spikes lower and the dragon steps back allowing the traumatised girl some space, in which she uses to sit down.
"Are you okay?" Astrid asks as she kneels next to her.
Ruffnut doesn't answer for a while then she turns and looks at Astrid.
"I'm sorry I was coming up to see Gothi and when I saw a dragon I panicked and it attacked me." She takes deep breathes in an attempt to slow her heart rate down to normal.
"Ruff its fine it isn't your fault you panicked we were just visiting Gothi as well and I didn't expect anyone to be up here at this time of night."
"Oh yeah I couldn't sleep and I wanted to see if she had anything that could help." Ruffnut answers before shakily getting to her feet. "Well I'll just go then..." She says awkwardly as she turns to leave.
"Wait Ruff," I call as I get up, "You go talk to Gothi, I need to have a word with them." I say jabbing a finger at three teens standing around talking quietly.
"Oh... okay... thanks Astrid." Ruffnut whispers as she walks towards the small hut and is greeted by Gothi who had watched the whole thing. She gestured for Ruffnut to sit down and closed the door.
Astrid flicked her fringe out of her eyes and stormed over to the other teens.
"What in the name of Thor was that?!" She demanded
Agnes just shrugged and Hunter scoffed, "Who cares it's not like we know her or anything." He shrugged.
Astrid was visibly fuming as she strode over and punched Hunter square in the jaw.
"I don't know you yet I haven't let Stormfly torch you!" She screamed, "I don't know who the hell you guys think you are but next time that happens you'd better help or so help me I'll get Stormfly to flame all of you understand?!"
Marcus and Agnes took a few steps and nodded slowly while Hunter just groaned and held his jaw.
"Good now Stormfly you are not to attack anyone unless I and I alone tell you to, got it?"
The Nadder hung her head and cooed.
"Good girl now you and Toothless make sure that these three stay out of trouble and Toothless this goes for you too got it?"
The Night Fury just snorted from his sleeping position.
"Oh no you do not do that to me!" Astrid told him as she walked over to the Night Fury, "Trust me you don't wanna make me angry." She threatened the dragon before turning and walking into Gothi's hut.
"Damn." Marcus whistled, "She's almost as scary as Lyna."
"Got that right."Agnes agreed.
"And she punches just as hard." Hunter moaned as he rubbed his jaw which now sported an ugly purple bruise.
The two dragons next to them seemed to warble in agreement, even Toothless was feeling a bit uneasy.
Okay hey this was just a filler chapter and yeah so next chapter should focus more on Toric, Hiccup and Nico (and maybe Scorcher) and will feature Lyna so yeah stay tuned.
Also I remembered I was supposed to be doing Bio's for the OC's woops! Well I've decided not sure when but I'm just going to post two chapters with them or I may just put them all on one I don't know yet. So yeah sorry for the delay and hopefully it won't be too long till next chapter.
Httydfangirlforever: Okay I see why you might think that but this story was started long before that movie came out, so yes in a way but no annoying songs or dancing and it's a lot better!
