Santana's pov
Three days. It has been three long, excruciating days since the accident that left Dani so.. so broken. That didn't even begin to describe her state. One thing she is is strong and determined. Thank God one of us is, I've been a complete and utter mess. Barely eating and I can hardly sleep. I know she would be upset with me for not taking care of myself, but how can I when she's like this.
She's stable and doing well and tomorrow is transport day. Finally, I'll feel a lot better when we are closer to home. I miss our home, fuck I miss Dani. Her smile, her soft touch, her incredible kisses, her walk. Jeez San, keep it together, you're only making it harder on yourself right now. She's just so perfect. Fuck Dani, just come back to me. I need you. I stood at her bedside and put my hand on her leg.
Right then the doctor came in. "She's doing well today, we have begun getting ready for her transport." I felt my jaw drop at his statement.
"already?" I asked him in total shock almost disbelief. Were we really going home?
"We have doctors in the other hospital waiting for her, they have everything she will need there so, now we just have to wait for the helicopter to arrive." He was flipping through pages of her charts, scribbling things down as he went. I just continued to process the new information. "It's the fastest way. We don't usually do this but we figured we would plan ahead for this to avoid an altercation. You will also be joining her so get ready, you guys will leave at 5pm." He put the clipboard back where he got it from and came to my side. "Prepare yourself for anything. With accidents like this, you can never be sure of what will happen when they wake." He squeezed my shoulder gently and left the room.
Finally going home. I was starting to miss our bed all over again. Home. I began packing her things from around the hospital room when the nurse came in. "Good luck Santana, I hope everything works out for the both of you. She's a lucky girl." She gave me a light hug and left the room. I made a mental note to send her flowers or something when Dani woke up. She's been so kind it was the least I could do.
I sat at the end of Dani's bed and ran my hand up and down her leg. "We're going home today baby. You're gonna wake up soon and we will get you better and then I will marry you. Just hold on and get through this please. I love you Dani." I stood up and placed a sweet gentle kiss on her forehead. I had to go and pack up the hotel room and check out before leaving so I left the hospital. When I got out the front my phone started to vibrate. Ugh the hobbit always has the worst timing. I know she's just worried about Dani so I answered.
"What do you want midget, I'm tired and don't need your crap right now. I need to get ready to leave." I said in one breath.
"Hello Santana, good to know you're still the same. I just wanted to know how- wait? Leave as in leave today? Like be home tonight." She said squealed. Her happiness was almost sickening.
"Yes, tonight. We leave here at 5 so around 9. Why?" I knew she was up to something. She is always up to something.
"Nothing. We just want to see you guys and make sure you're still taking care of yourself as well as Dani." She answered with a soft tone, almost like she cared.
"Do you think I can't take care of her or myself Berry?" I was angry at her comment about my welfare. I know she cares a lot about us but she knows I haven't left her side.
"That is not what I meant Santana and you know that. Just let us know when you get home. We miss you guys." and she hung up. I felt like an ass for lashing out on her. I'll make it up to her.
I packed our stuff up and the driver helped me load it all into the car. "Dani is going to be fine miss. Stop stressing out over it. She's a strong girl, and you know that." The driver never said much to me and his statement was very comforting.
"You're right. She is incredibly strong." I gave him a smile and got into the car.
My phone began to vibrate again, hoping it was berry I pulled it out of my pocket. Shit, it was my boss. With all this commotion I forgot about letting them know. "Lopez" I answered.
"Hi Santana. I heard about the accident." there was a silent pause. "I don't know why you didn't call, I'm going to assume you forgot. With all that is going on I understand. Take all the time you need. But we have to sit down and figure a few things out. So when you get a chance please call me and we will set something up. I hope everything is okay. If you need anything, I am just a phone call away."
"Thanks sir. She's doing well and she being transferred tonight, so in a few days when we're all settled in, I'll call you so we can sit down."
"Sounds good San. Just give me a shout. I hope everything is okay, She's lucky to have you." Why was everyone saying that. I'm the lucky one here.
