Well, this is like one of those chapters where there's a huge amount of stuff happening and you're just like the hell is this? But yeah, mentions of stuff to come so give it time. It'll all clear up.
I ran up the stairs to Bradford's apartment. I wanted to see how he was doing since I left. I was afraid that we'd left things at a bad conclusion. I hope he's alright. Is he mad at me? I really hope not... I thought. I stuck my key in the door and opened it. "Bradford? Are ya in here?" I called. "Back here Kayla," he called from the kitchen. I ran into the kitchen. He doesn't sound mad... But he still could be. I slowed down and walked the rest of the way in.
Bradford was sitting at the table sharing coffee with... A woman? She had long curly brown hair, and eyes that were as green as Raph's. Oh great, another one. I tried not to cross my arms, just in case. "Who's this?" I asked. Bradford smiled. "This is a friend of mine, Emily. I met her last week," he replied. I wasn't going to give up that easily. "Where did ya meet her?" I asked. "I met her downtown at the cafe over a cup of coffee. I promise you I wasn't at a party or drunk." Huh, not bad. She doesn't look like a slut... And Bradford met her in the daytime. Not bad Bradford, not bad... I thought. I made my way over to the table and sat down. "Em, this is my daughter Kayla," Bradford said. "Oh, who's her mother?" Emily asked. "She doesn't have one. I adopted her," Bradford replied. She nodded.
I looked at Bradford. He was giving Emily a look, the same kind of look Raph gives me all the time. I think Bradford has a crush on Emily... Well she does look pretty. "So Kayla, what all do you like to do?" Emily asked. I shrugged. "Well I like to sing and play a couple instruments. I'm pretty good with guitar. I like art too, I draw a lot and I write stuff in my journals. I love videogames too," I said, "I have a whole bunch." She smiled. "Cool. What else?" "Um... Oh I like books. I read almost everyday if I have time. And nature is one my favorite things besides music. I love flowers and trees and stuff."
"That's awesome. I like art myself. Maybe I can show you a couple of my drawings, and I like books too," Emily said. I looked at the shirt she was wearing. Hold on is that... "Is that a Doctor Who shirt?" I asked. She looked down. "Yeah, it's probably my favorite show on the planet." I gasped. "I love Doctor Who! It's my absolute favorite! Who's your favorite doctor?" I asked. "Oh that would have to be number ten," Emily said. "I love him too! Except I like eleven a bit more. You're awesome Emily," I said. She smiled. "You too. I like you Kayla, I think we'll be pretty good friends. Chris also mentioned something about martial arts I think," she said, looking at Bradford. I haven't heard Bradford be called Chris in... forever. Bradford nodded. "Yeah, she usually trains at my dojo with me, but recently she's been staying with friends of hers."
"Yep," I agreed, "I stay with a few friends of mine, but I live at my own place. Bradford got it for me." "That sounds cool, having your own place and all. I didn't get my own place until I was nineteen. Not too bad at your age," Emily commented. "Thanks." Emily smiled at me again before turning to Bradford. "I have to go, it was nice seeing your place and meeting your daughter, but duty calls." Emily grabbed her bag off the floor and got up to go. "What do you do?" I asked. "I work at a restaurant not far from here. Cooking things up in the kitchen. Well, I'll see you later. And by the way, call me Em," she said. Bradford and I said goodbye to her before she left.
As soon as the door was closed I looked at Bradford. "So? Do you guys date or what?" I asked. Bradford shrugged. "I like her, but I honestly don't know how it would work out. I've never been the really fancy and romantic guy, then there's also the Foot. What if she finds out? Shredder might want to get rid of her or make her join, and I have no idea of how that would turn out. I guess I'll start out as her friend, make it work from there," he replied. I patted his shoulder. "Yeah, that would be best. If you do get into a relationship with her, I'd be fine with it. I like her, not too bad." Bradford cracked a grin. "Really? That'd be the first of my girlfriends that you like." "She's not a slut like the others, at least I hope not. We'll see," I said.
Bradford sat back in his chair. "You're here to see if I'm mad at you, aren't you?" I sighed. "You're not right?" I asked hopefully. "No, I could see why you were upset. Everything that I put on you that day, I could see if it stressed you out or upset you. I was hoping that YOU weren't mad at me for what I did. I still feel guilty about it," he said.
I got up and hugged him. "It's okay... I guess I forgive you. I can't stay mad forever." He ruffled my hair, just like old times. "You're a good kid, and an awesome daughter," he said, "Too bad you don't have any sisters or brothers." I bit my lip. He still doesn't know about the girls... But if he did, he might turn them over to Shredder. I could never do that to them. I shrugged. "Nah, I'm good. My friends are like siblings to me. Speaking of my friends, I have to go too," I said. Bradford ruffled my hair again. "Alright kid, when will you be back?" "I dunno, maybe when Em comes back." I grin played at the edge of my lips.
Bradford snorted. "Butting into my love life are we Kayla?" "No, someone's gotta keep ya in check," I retorted. I grabbed my own back and got up. "Wait, before you go," Bradford said, slipping a few bills into my hand, "Just in case you need anything." I gave a slight nod and walked to the door. On the way out I called goodbye to Bradford and started down the street. Well, at least he's not mad at me anymore, I thought. I walked down the street acting like anyone else. Acting like I wasn't about to crawl down a sewer to visit a family of turtles for another period of weeks.
On my way to the turtles' lair, I ran into April, Casey, and Irma not too far ahead of me. "Hey guys," I said, waving. April waved back and the group waited for me to catch up. I walked up next to them, and we continued our trek to the lair. Irma still didn't know about the turtles, so we'd have to ditch her eventually. Not that I would mind, since she never shuts up. Like Irma's as smart as Donnie and Ally, but she never SHUTS UP. At least Ally can keep quiet, and Donnie can take a hint. Irma needs to be constantly reminded that people would rather not hear her go on and on about some random thing. I understand what she's saying, I just don't want to hear it right now. Now was one of those times that she was blabbing on about something. She only paused to say hi to me before starting in on what she was explaining.
"Uh, Irma, I think we get it," April said. I rolled my eyes and walked up ahead. "Yeah, but you guys don't get the science behind it all. There are a lot of things you guys need to know before you truly-" "Irma, to be honest, I really don't care about all that science stuff. Give us a moment of peace will ya?" Casey snapped. Irma shook her head at him. "Kayla, you get what I'm saying right?" Irma asked. I silently growled. I hated when she went to me for defense... "Yeah, makes sense to me," I lied. I didn't even know what she was talking about, but that's just Irma.
Irma frowned and gestured to me saying, "See, Kayla's the only one around here who actually gets science. I know I'm not the only complex mind around here." April and I shared a look. She really never shuts up. We all stopped on a street, and Irma stopped too. "Listen Irma, we have to go alright," April said. "We'll see you later," Casey said. "Yeah," I added. Irma crossed her arms. "What's with all the secrets lately? You guys are up to something aren't you?" We started walking away. "Bye Irma," Casey called over his shoulder. "I'm going to find out what you're up to! Just you see!" she called after us. I rolled my eyes again. Never shuts up does she? Thank goodness she wasn't following us.
We approached a sewer, waited for the crowd to thin out a bit, then Casey pried it open. "Ladies first," he said, throwing a smirk in April's direction. April smirked back before jumping down. What's this? I might just need to tell Ally, she'll be happy to know, I thought as I jumped down myself. The walk to the lair itself wasn't very far, just a quick track through the sewers before going on an old subway and walking the rest of the way to the lair.
I stepped past the turntables into the lair, inhaling it's familiar scent. I was back home, finally. Mikey and Mari swiveled around and smiled when they saw us. "GUYS THEY'RE HERE!" They announced. Hanna's head popped out from behind the couch and she jumped over to meet me. "Mommy!" I hugged her as the others started coming out. "April!" Donnie said. "April..." Ally muttered. "And Casey..." Donnie muttered after that. "Donatello..." Casey muttered next. "Hey guys!" April said. Donnie and Casey glared at each other for a brief second before breaking contact. Ally aimed an imaginary dagger at April's head before turning to me.
We exchanged smiles and I came down to greet everyone else as Hanna hung on my arm. "What you do today?" she asked. "Not much, talked to Bradford, met his friend. I walked around a bit," I said. Hanna nodded and started talking about spending the day with Mikey and Mari, and Raph. She even demonstrated a move she learned. "Hey Lenny," I said. "Hi, so how did the talk go? Is he mad?" she asked. "Fortunately, no. He actually felt bad about what he did," I replied. "Are you still mad?" Ally asked. I shook my head. "I forgive him. Can't stay mad forever." "That's good. Glad to see that you made up with him," Mari added. I smiled. "I also met his friend. A girl who's his friend," I said.
From my sisters' curious and suggestive expressions, I knew they wanted to know everything. "I'll tell ya later," I added quietly. Mari giggled, and Ally and Lenny nodded with smirks on their faces. Suddenly I was picked up from behind. I let out a startled squeak. "Hey," Raph said. I laughed. "Hey, put me down." I was set back on my feet and pulled into a hug. "Did anything interestin today?" he asked. "Nope, not really," I answered. He shrugged and put an arm around my waist. "Same here. Besides training Hanna and stuff like that, I didn't do much today."
I shrugged in agreement. It's been calm these last few days, but whenever crime stops for awhile, it usually means something big might happen. Sometimes I try not to think about it. April's phone started ringing, and she answered it. "Hello?" She started talking to someone. "Oh, okay... Bye," she said and hung up, "That was my aunt. I have to go." Donnie looked disappointed. "Okay, you want me to-" "Hey Red, I'll take ya home," Casey interrupted. Donnie glared at him as the two walked off. "Well that was a short visit, they didn't even stay that long," Mari said.
"Well, maybe her aunt wants her home at a certain time to make sure that she's safe," Lenny said. "Well what do we do now?" Mari asked. Mikey tapped his chin, then his eyes lit up. "I know, I just had an idea for the most awesome pizza EVER!" he said, making a huge gesture, "Oh and I'll need your help, and Hanna's help. Marshmallow can help too." Mari's dog ran in at the sound of her name. "There you are Marshmallow," Mari said, petting the white dog, "You're gonna help us make something awesome today okay?" Marshmallow bark in response. "Awesome." "Raph, Kay, you don't mind if we borrow Hanna do you?" Mikey asked. Raph and I looked at each other, then back at Mikey. "Sure," Raph said. "Don't get her sick or we'll kill you," I added.
They nodded, grabbed Hanna and ran off. "Well, I know a project that needs finishing. Ally, Kay, do you think you can help me a little?" Donnie asked. Ally smiled. "Sure Donnie." I was about to say something when Raph stepped up. "Kay was gonna spend some time with me today. Ally should be enough help," he said. I sighed. "You didn't even let her answer," Donnie retorted, gesturing to me. "That's cause I already know what she's about to say." I looked at Leo for help, but he only shrugged. Oh boy... "Are you tryin to take Kay for yourself or somethin?" "What?! No! I don't even think of her that way!" Donnie fumed.
"Good, ya already got one girlfriend right there," Raph said, gesturing to Ally, "You're head's just too thick to notice it." Ally blushed, and Donnie glared at Raph. "MY head? What about you?! You almost BROKE Kay once! I'm surprised she even wants to look at you! I sure wouldn't." That pushed a button for Raph, and he clenched up his fists. "What are ya tryin to say Donnie?" he growled. "I'm saying that sometimes, you're so insensitive! I mean, Kayla's sensitive, and it took you forever to realize that. You always think you know what's best for her, why don't you let her choose what she wants to do for once!" Donnie shouted. "And you never saw what you've done to Ally! I remember she came to sit with us once, cause you flat out ignored her for over an hour!" Raph shot back.
Donnie did a double take. "Excuse me? I have never ignored Ally," he said. Ally put up her finger like she was about to say something, but she put it back down and looked at her toes. Donnie noticed and looked at her. "Ally?" Ally looked up shyly. "W-Well... You actually... Kinda did ignore me... You were talking to April like I wasn't even there..." she said quietly. Raph crossed his arms stubbornly with a smug look on his face. "What? I never noticed. You didn't say anything," Donnie said, looking kind of hurt. "That's because I was a bit mad that you centered everything around her. I mean, whenever we talk, something always has to remind you of April. You never talk about anything else anymore, like when we first met..."
Lenny looked at me awkwardly. I made a motion saying that it was okay for her and Leo to leave. She nodded and whispered something to Leo, and they left, casting nervous glances over their shoulders. "I don't talk JUST about April, I talk about other things too," Donnie was saying. "That's only when I change the subject. You really do talk about April a lot, and to be honest, it annoys me a little," Ally said. Raph looked at me, and I looked back. Uh oh... "What do you mean it irritates you? I thought you guys were friends." Ally looked at her feet again. "Well... You might think so but... I... I actually... Don't like April as much as you think. Not just because you pay so much attention to her, but how she is. Like... She can hardly fend for herself because she's too dependent on you. You're always there to save her when she's in danger, so she doesn't act like she needs to defend herself," Ally said.
"I don't think too highly of that, I mean, what if something happens and we aren't there to help? Her depending on you constantly being protective of her can be the cause of her death one day. And another thing... Casey. She obviously likes him, it isn't really worth it," she rushed out. Donnie looked... Crushed. His mouth was wide open, anymore and it would've touched the floor. "You don't like April?" he asked in disbelief. Ally put her shoulders back and calmly said, "No, I don't as much as you think. I don't hate her, I just don't think we're compatible as friends."
Donnie looked away and muttered something. "What?" "I said go away," Donnie grumbled. Ally's confident look faltered. "W-What?" she stuttered. "I-I said... Go away. Get away from me, I don't want to talk to you." She took a step back. "Donnie..." "No! Get away from me! I... I don't want to talk you anymore! You're a liar! I don't want to be you're friend right now. Just go away!" Donnie shouted, glaring at Ally. I've never seen him so upset.
Ally turned away and ran down the hallway. Donnie turned on Raph next. "You too. Stay away from me, you're a horrible brother." With that, he stalked off to his lab, slamming the metal door shut. After that, silence. Raph sneered and waved him off. "Forget him, she was telling the truth," he said. I looked at him. "What did you do?" I asked. He looked at me. "What?" "You... You made them fight... Because YOU got mad," I said quietly. "Not you too," Raph groaned. "Look, Ally was telling the truth, but it could've been under better circumstances than that. I mean, look how that turned out! Donnie's broken, and Ally's dead. You KILLED Ally!" I yelled. "What do ya mean I killed her? She not dead," Raph retorted.
"You didn't kill her physically, but emotionally. Her heart broke, I felt it. And you did this! You pulled the trigger, and made a mess! Way to go Raphael!" I said, throwing my hands up in the air. "I don't know why you're gettin upset, if you would've just hung out with me, we wouldn't be in this mess!" Raph said accusingly. "What? Who said I wanted to hang out with either of you?! I was going to sit and read because I wasn't in the mood for sparring or experimenting right then. But then ya had to open your big trap didn't you?" I asked, shaking my head.
Raph glared at me. "So you're mad at me too? Still mad over something that happened months ago?" His snarky comment made my blood boil. "Shut up, what you did was wrong and you know it," I snarled. "Maybe so, but I was just kidding. You can't take a joke apparently," he said, crossing his arms. "What?! What you did was wrong! That wasn't a joke to me! It hurt me, worse than you think! Donnie's right, you're lucky I forgave you..." Raph snorted. "He pulled a trigger too huh? You're gettin pissed over stuff that happened months ago, and you had forgotten about it until now." I looked at him. "What?" "When he said I supposedly broke ya, it made you remember what happened and you got mad again," Raph explained.
I gasped. It all made sense. One trigger goes, then so does another... I put my fists down. "You're right... I did forget about it..." I said, "Then Donnie got mad and blurted it out, just like you did saying he ignored Ally." The fire returned and I balled up my fists again. "But you still hurt Ally! Donnie too! Why did you do that?! Why Raph? Because you couldn't get your way? Because you wanted control? Well look what ya did, you have me all to yourself now!" I yelled.
"Look I'm sorry okay! I just blurted out whatever came across my mind! I was mad because I thought Donnie was trying to keep you to himself! He's had a lot of your attention lately and I felt left out," Raph rushed out. "You broke my sister's heart and your brother's just because ya felt lonely?! That's no excuse Raph! You should've just talked to me instead of starting this huge fight," I said. "Well we're talkin now aren't we?" he shot back. I growled. "You really are insensitive sometimes..." "Then how come you're with me?" "Because I love you! You drive me crazy, but I still love ya because we still work!" I blurted.
Raph opened his mouth to say something, but stopped. "What?" "I said yeah you piss me off, but I still love you because we still work well together," I repeated. Raph's expression grew soft, and in the next minute, his lips were on mine. This is wrong, I should be mad at him. I pulled away. "Ugh I sounded like one of those stupid soap opera shows," I muttered. Raph kissed my forehead and hummed thoughtfully. "Yeah ya kinda do, but way better." I snorted. "Don't try to butter up to me, I'm still mad at you." He rubbed my shoulders. "I'm not... But I do want ya to not be mad at me," he replied. "And how are ya gonna go about doing that?" I asked. "In my own special way. You still need to make up for the lack of attention," he murmured. It sent shivers down my spine, and I mentally slapped myself to get a grip.
I squared my shoulders and gently shoved out of his embrace. "If you don't mind, I need to go comfort Ally. You should try talking to Donnie," I said, walking off. I slowly opened the door to Ally room and peeked inside. Muffled sobs could be heard from where Ally was buried under blankets and pillows. Calligraphy sat by the bed, whimpering softly. I walked in, closed the door, and down. I gently shook Ally's shoulder. "Ally, can we talk?" I asked. "N-No... Please leave, I-I want to be alone right now," Ally whispered. I hugged the mass of blankets. "You won't be alone much longer when Mari or Lenny comes in. Please, just talk to me. I talked to Raph," I said. Ally peeked hesitantly from under the blankets. "And Donnie?" I shook my head. "Raph's going to talk to him," I explained.
Ally sat up and sniffed. "I-I feel so bad... I d-didn't mean how I said those th-things. I don't feel entirely bad about what I said though," she said, "I just felt kinda hurt that Donnie didn't even realize that he's been ignoring me, and focusing on April. It's always April THIS and April THAT! I'm s-sick of it." She made huge gestures with her arms and hiccuped.
"Wh-What if he hates me?! H-He might n-never talk to me again!" she gasped. Fresh tears streamed down her cheeks and she started crying again. I hugged her tightly. "No... Donnie could never hate you... He just has to get over the shock that one person just doesn't like April. He has a lot to figure out," I said. Ally sobbed into my shoulder. "H-He might not ever even l-look at me. Wh-What have I done," she sobbed. "No, Donnie's sweet, he'll forgive you. Just next time when you talk to him about this... Try not to be as... Aggressive." She sniffed and hiccuped again. "R-Really Kay?" I nodded and held her closer. "Yes Ally, he will forgive you. You just have to forgive him for ignoring you, and try to make yourself more known. Just sitting by doesn't really help," I said, gently stroking her hair.
She gently moved out of my embrace and smiled. Calligraphy climbed into her lap and she stroked the dog happily, hugging her close. I smiled softly. "Everything's going to be okay Ally," I said. She smiled back. "Thank you... You're the best sister I've ever had," she said. I stood up. "Don't mention it. Remember, ya gotta say something if you feel like Donnie's ignoring ya," I said. She nodded and I stepped quietly out of the room.
I ended up almost running into Raph in the hallway, causing me to jump back a step. "So how'd it go?" I asked. "He was a little upset to see me, but we got to talkin, and he said he'll give Ally another chance as long as she doesn't insult April again. I said I was sorry. Oh, and Donnie said he'll try not to ignore Ally too," Raph said. I sighed in relief. "Thank goodness, everything's goin back to normal," I said. Raph put an arm around my shoulder and drew me close to him. "Except for one thing," he said. "Like what?" "You still need to gimme some attention. I'm tryin to be patient here," Raph said. I chuckled. Oh Raph...
I cracked my knuckles. "Your idea of attention is sparrin without weapons? What kind of attention is that?" I asked. "The kind to burn energy, and I have a lot to burn," Raph replied. I laughed. "Heh, alright." "Hope ya like getting butt kicked." "Alright Raph, you're gettin cocky," I said, "Don't do that, ya know it'll be your weakness since it charges me up." "Oh really?" "Yep." "Then I'll just have to be extra cocky today," he challenged.
I rolled my eyes and got into position. "I'm right here, come and get me," I said. Raph smirked and ran at me, but I ran the other around and kicked, sending him flying. I learned a few new tricks to throw an opponent off. I swung my fist, but Raph blocked and tried to flip me over onto my back. Not falling for it. I rolled along the ground so that he ended up on his back. He got back up and took a swing I went left, right, kicked upwards and catching his stomach right in the spot that made him fall over. This time it didn't. "You aren't the only one who learned new tricks," Raph said smugly. I took another swing, getting him in the arm. "I know."
I took another swing aimed for the side of his face, bit he simply grabbed my hand. "Game over," he said, pressing me down against the floor. I grunted when we hit the floor. When I looked at out position, my eyes widened. I know what he meant by attention now. "Raph no... Not here," I said. He smirked. "I can't really hold it in much longer. Told ya I needed to burn some energy. He leaned down by my ear. "And it takes more than just a few minor touches to burn this energy," he whispered. I blushed and started struggling. Trapped, great.
"Raph please, not here," I whimpered. His grin grew wider. "Love when ya beg, it gets me pretty excited," he said. His head was cocked to the side just lightly as he looked at me. "If you beg more I may just let you have your way and we'll go somewhere else. If not, I'll just do it here." I shook my head. "Please don't do it here, Master Splinter might hear." Raph shrugged. "He knows we're together, so it's fine." I gulped. "But he still might come in. Wouldn't it be embarrassing?" I asked quietly, glancing nervously at the sliding door just a few feet away. Again, Raph shrugged. "Eh, he's in deep meditation. He won't hear a thing," he said. I whimpered again. "Not in here, please don't," I begged. I hated begging, but it's all I got.
Raph looked amused, and I was slowly starting to get mad. "If Master Splinter sees what you're doin, we'll both be in trouble, and you know that. Besides, you said you wouldn't do anything if I didn't want to," I pointed out. That wiped the smug look off of his face. His let go of my wrists and got off. "Alright alright, ya got me there," he grumbled. "And you said that ya can't control yourself," I said, blowing my bang out of my face as I stood. "Well I have some restraint. What do ya take me for, some kinda animal?" he asked.
I laughed. "Well, considering that you ARE a giant turtle-" "Okay, I get it." I laughed again. I adjusted my finger-less gloves, and pulled them on tightly to make sure they fit. He said he has some restraint, how far would someone have to go before he loses that restraint? I wondered. I started thinking about the last few days. He's been very flirtatious, more than usual. It's been getting warmer, but I don't know what that would have to do with anything. I cab also tell that this restraint he has is slowly running out. Like that feeling of being watched, I can sense that he doesn't have long before words won't work him anymore. I just need to know why.
I started towards the door. "Where are ya going Kay?" Raph asked. "I need to check on somethin. I'll be back in a minute," I said before walking out. I walked to the lab, but hesitated before putting my hand on the handle. "Donnie? Can I come in?" I asked. There was some shuffling from behind the door, and then it opened. Donnie looked down at me. "Yes?" "Can I um, ask ya somethin?" I asked.
Donnie opened the door the rest of the way and allowed me to come in. I walked in and sat down in a chair. Donnie closed the door and shuffled to his own seat. "So what did you want to ask me?" he asked, turning to face his computer screen. "I needed to ask you something that I've been wondering about with Raph. You see, he's been a lot more flirtatious than usual, tryin to drag me off to have like alone time or somethin," I said. Donnie nodded and typed something down. "Like he's been really flirty... Do ya know what's up with him?" He typed something else down. "I know what's wrong with him," he said blankly. "Really? What?" I asked. "It's almost spring," Donnie replied.
I raised an eyebrow. "What the heck does spring have to do with him?" I tilted my head to the side to show him the mark on my neck. "This is from yesterday Don, he's been tryin to give me hickeys all week," I said, "And I wanna know why." Donnie turned to examine it. "Hmm... Well, he's definitely marking you as his territory. This happens around mating season," he explained. "Mating season?" "Yeah, our mating season's in spring, and we're all at our mature mating age this year." He kept typing stuff down in the computer. "So what you're sayin is that Raph thinks of me as a possible mate? Is that it?" I asked. Donnie nodded. "Yeah, except he's already decided that you're going to be his mate. And another thing, he's usually the earliest to start, and the last to finish, so his mating period is longer," he explained, "Which means it'll last about three to five weeks."
I paled. "And WHAT might I ask, happens during this 'mating period?'" I asked, my voice starting to rise slightly. "He'll try to mate with you obviously. Like he'll want to mess with you at least three to five times a day, maybe six if he's really in the mood. What I'm telling you now is the best I can sugar coat it." I almost fell out of the chair, and gripped the edge of the table. Well shit... "Donnie, he said something about having some restraint. What happens during-" "He'll lose that restraint and will try to find you and mate with you by any means possible. It happens to all of us. First Raph, then Leo will start, and it varies between me and Mikey sometimes. Since Hanna's not really matured yet, we'll leave her alone. You still might want to relocate her like Splinter does," Donnie said, typing more stuff in.
I rubbed my neck self consciously. Mating season... Oh... "So when Raph starts, is it just me he's after, or will he go after my sisters too?" I asked. "No, like I said before, he wants you and only you. With Leo, he chose Lenny, I can tell. And you can plainly see that Mikey has Mari in his sights... With me, I don't know. I thought about April, but Casey gets in the way..." he muttered the last part. I know I shouldn't do this, I'm not Cupid, but this is for Ally. "You know, there's someone who really likes you. You just need to pay more attention to how much she tries to show you how she feels," I said, getting up.
"Thank you clearing the whole mating thing up Donnie." He nodded. "No problem Kay, anything to help." I smiled and slipped out the door. Another thought cleared, good. Now... About this mating thing... I need to tell the others, soon. I started with the closest sister to me right now. I stepped back into Ally's room. "Ally. Hey, Ally, I need to tell ya somethin," I said. She looked up from a book she was reading. Her eyes were still a bit puffy, poor thing. I sat down. "So guess what I found out. Turns out it's almost spring," I said. Ally cocked her head. "It took you this long to figure that out?" she asked. I sighed. "No, ya see, Donnie told me it's almost mating season for the turtles."
She set her book aside. "What? Mating season? What does that mean?" she asked. "It's means that the guys are pretty much gonna try to mate with us. Well... Most of them. See, Donnie hasn't really chosen one yet, and that's where you come in," I said, "You can try to catch Donnie's attention so he'll pick you." She blushed. "I like Donnie and want be with him, but you don't really think I want to do all the NOW do you?" she asked. I shook my head. "Not really, but you can make him attracted to ya, that's what I'm tryin to say. Raph did say that Donnie said he'll give you another chance." She looked down and thought about it. She looked back up with a determined nod. "Okay, I'll do it," she said.
I smiled. "Awesome, but we'll need to tell Mari and Lenny about this, just to make sure they get the heads up in case the guys start acting even weirder," I said. Mari popped her head in. "Tell me and Lenny about what?" she asked. "Mating season," Ally said, "It's getting close for the turtles." "Which means they'll wanna mate with us," I added. "Ooh how exciting," Mari said, her eyes sparkling, "It'll be like a romantic date right?" Ally and I shared a look. "Uh... No Mari, not really like a date, but like," I made a gesture with my fingers, "Like that. They'll wanna mess around." Mari turned a deep shade of red. "Oh..."
She looked at her toes. "Oh my... So they'll want to do that, like for how long?" she asked. I cleared my throat. "I don't know, you'll have to ask Donnie." She looked around suspiciously. "But what if Donnie tries to mess around with me?" she whispered. I groaned. "He won't, he didn't pick one yet," I said. "Oh, okay then. But what do we do if they start trying stuff?" "That's the thing we need to work on," Ally replied, "Even though... The best way to deal with this is to let them do what they want."
I looked at Ally. "Are you insane? We can't do that," I said. "Sure we can, they may try to force us to anyways," she answered simply. Lenny walked in and closed the door. A blush crawled up her face. "Lenny?" Mari asked, going over to her, "Are you okay, your face is all red." Lenny took a deep breath. "Yeah... Yeah I'm okay. It was just Leo..." she said. I looked up. "You too huh?" I asked. "What?" "It's almost mating season for the guys," Ally explained, "They're picking out their mates, and Leo chose you." Lenny's face turned red again. "Wow um, okay. I wasn't expecting that..." "What happened in there?" I asked. She played with her braid. "Well um, Leo and I were just talking about Space Heroes and stuff... And then we uh, sorta kinda... Kissed a little," she mumbled.
Mari's jaw dropped. "He kissed you?! Oh my god Lenny that's totally epic!" she squealed. I put my hand up to silence Mari, then motioned for Lenny to continue. "Sure it was good at first, bit then he kept wanting to go further and further... Look." She moved her head to the side. "He... He gave me a hickey," she said, blushing. I rubbed my own neck. "Yeah, I have bout three," I said. She sat on the bed in a heap. "Right on my love mark too..." "I'm sorry a what?" I asked. She rubbed her neck. "Love mark, that heart shaped mark on our necks. We were born with it, it's an arousal spot for our species," she explained.
"Well no wonder..." I muttered. "What? We've always had those," Mari said. "Raph bit mine too, so no wonder I went all glassy eyed. Arousal spot... They must've known what it was somehow," I said. Ally nodded. "That may be the case. So if they start using our marks against us, then what do we do?" I shrugged. "Guess you're right Ally, we may just have to surrender on this one. So much for trying to say I was too young... I thought.
Mari looked like she was thinking hard about something. "What is it Mari?" I asked. "Mikey... When will he start marking me? First Raph marked you, then Leo marked Lenny, so who's next? Me or Ally?" she asked. "Since Donnie hasn't really chosen a mate yet, I think you're next Mari," Ally said. Mari went pale. "Will it hurt when he does?" I shook my head. "It didn't really hurt when I got mine. It's a light pinch but that's bout it." Lenny nodded in agreement. Mari sighed in relief. "Thank goodness... Well, if it doesn't hurt, might as well get it over with."
She stood up. "What are you doing?" Lenny asked. "I'm going to get marked by Mikey that's what. If he's going to do it anyways, then why not right now?" she replied. "Because they all start at different times, and it happens naturally. You have to wait," Ally said. Mari sat back down. "Well great... So at any time he could just pounce on me and give me a hickey. Great," she muttered. Lenny laughed and Mari glared at her. "What's so funny? I might even have time to react and them it might actually hurt," she whined. Lenny shook her head. "You're so worried, that's what's funny. Mikey will be gentle before he actually marks you. You'll just feel like you're having a... Romantic moment should I say," she replied.
Mari calmed down. "Well then... Okay! Sounds fine by me... So anytime he could just start?" Ally rolled her eyes. "Yes Mari, anytime." She nodded, then gasped. "What about Hanna? They can't possibly be thinking of doing anything to that sweet little girl can they?" Mari asked. "Nope, Donnie said she isn't matured yet, so they'll leave her alone," I said. Mari sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. I was scared for a minute since she's in there with Mikey by herself... Oh my god that reminds me!" She dove under her bed next to Ally's and starting throwing stuff out from under it. "I told Mikey that I would get something for his pizza."
Lenny gave her a funny look, and I just shook my head. "Ha I found it!" Mari's muffled voice called. She pulled out a small grocery bag. "I found some chocolate chips and jellybeans that I thought would go great with the pizza. I found whipped cream and sprinkles too." "Just what kind of pizza are you two making?" Ally asked. "A cake pizza!" Mari exclaimed. "Ick, that sounds disgusting," I said, "Pepperoni and sprinkles do not make a good mix."
"They do when you use wafers for pepperoni and frosting for cheese and sauce. We're basically making a giant cake pizza. It'll be awesome," Mari said. She dashed out, and I shook my head. "They have weird tastes in food," I said. "Sure do," Ally agreed. "Yep," Lenny said.
"I just had an idea for the whole mating situation," I said. "What?" Lenny asked. "What about our powers? We learned a whole truckload of new stuff the last time we visited Asami and our Keepers. We could use our powers to keep them from messing with us," I said. Ally rubbed her chin. "Like mind control them? That won't work, their desire would be too strong," she said. "Yeah, I know that. What I mean is that we use our powers to basically tie them down if they start to get out of control." Lenny nodded. "Not bad Kay, not bad... It's worth a shot."
"Tying them down would be helpful, but what if they untie themselves or break free?" Ally asked. "We'd have a pretty good start. If they catch us, well... We may just have to give in this once," I said. Lenny and Ally looked at each other, then back at me. "Let's do it," Lenny said. "Yeah, that should be fine," Ally said. I smiled. "Well, we have a game plan, but now there's research." "We can go to the library and see if they have anything. Other than that, there's always the internet," Ally said. "Okay, so Ally, can you do the internet research while Kayla and I go to the library?" Lenny asked. Ally grabbed her laptop. "Sure, better to start early," she replied, opening it. Lenny turned to me. "We should go to the library tomorrow morning to find some books. Anything that looks useful, grab it," she said. I nodded. Ally's laptop dinged, and she smiled.
"I got a hit, come look at this," she said. Lenny and I moved in front of the computer. "It says that when mating season starts for turtles, males start to get very competitive and or territorial. Males compete over females, and occasionally fight. They also get very aggressive. Mating season starts out slowly, but soon there's a peak where male turtles are the most aggressive, then it slows back down before stopping," Ally read. "So there's a time when they'll be very aggressive? What do we do then?" Lenny asked. "We have to let them have their way if we want to get out of this in one peace," Ally replied.
"It also says that turtles are really affectionate towards their mates," I said, "That they rub faces or bite necks." I rubbed my neck again. "Well, that explains a lot. When they were fighting earlier, and then became calm so quickly. It's all adding up." Lenny nodded. "And the marks their giving us. It's shows of affection." "How sweet," Ally said, "In a very odd sorta way." "Well they are animals. Half human, but animals none the less," I said. "Right, which is why we should let things go naturally, at least until we're pushed in a direction we don't want to go," Ally said. "I think this plan will go quite nicely," Lenny said, "What do you guys think." I smiled. "Yeah, it should be fine." "We can get through spring without a scratch." Lenny smiled back. "Maybe we'll become animals too," she said. We all laughed at that. "Yeah, we'll become growling animals." I shook my head. "Ridiculous." Lenny shrugged. "We never know, the guys are giving into their instincts, so could we." "Basically we're all animals, we have animal instincts, might as well use them," Ally said. Yeah... Animals instincts, I thought, Wonder if they'll ever kick in...
So there it goes. Spring, mating season. How exciting... Ahh two chapters into days how nice... But this one's long af. Well, makes up for the wait doesn't it? To be continued...
