A/N: AND the epilogue. Warning for lemons (you didn't think I was going to end this without Godric and Mackenzie having some fun, did you?) By the way, this is going in a completely different direction than I originally thought, so you are most welcome as my original plan was very evil. As terrible as I find this last season of True Blood, the Hep V storyline has given me an idea that I want to now run with in the sequel. I will for sure post here whenever I get that started. THANK YOU ALL once again for all of your support, you all majorly rock.
Now enjoy!
One Month Later
"Explain to me again why I can't just drink Godric's blood?"
A month. It had been a month since she had gotten regular treatments of Godric's blood. It hadn't been as life changing as Mackenzie first expected. Everything seemed normal enough. Eric wasn't always thrilled when Godric arrived every four days for her appointment at the clinic, but he wasn't standing in the way of the only thing that was currently keeping her alive.
In Mackenzie's relief, the dreams had settled down. After the first few transfusions, the dreams had littered her nights. But after the third appointment, they had all but disappeared. She was grateful for it. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to survive the rest of her life with those dreams haunting her.
Especially when she knew for a fact that reality was so much better.
It was reality that was driving her insane, however.
Godric would barely be in her presence without a room full of people present. She had merely just been relieved to have him permanently back in her life at first, not caring that Eric and Pam, and even Sookie were constantly around when all she wanted was to be alone with Godric. But a month later, and it was starting to get on her last nerve. Even when he picked her up for their appointments, he would keep to himself, mostly quiet, or he would strike up conversation with Ludwig rather than indulge her during the boring hour. It was frustrating.
It was why she had begged Eric to let Godric take her for a bite to eat after her appointment. She was always starving after the treatment, and it gave her some time alone with the ancient vampire. Of course, despite her now legal father being unhappy with the idea of letting her be alone with Godric for longer than what was necessary, his daughter's large round eyes had manipulated him once again and he couldn't refuse. Just this once, he made sure she knew. Of course, if her plan of attack went the way she hoped, it certainly wouldn't be the last.
"I can monitor the effects of his blood this way. Shut your mouth and stop complaining, girl," Ludwig rolled her eyes. "Just like your father."
Mackenzie couldn't help but grin at the mutter. "Legally too."
Ludwig scoffed before scurrying from the room with more 'important' things to care about.
"She's just a ray of sunshine, isn't she?" the teen snickered, shooting a glance at the now chuckling vampire.
"That she is," he agreed with a smile. "How are you feeling?"
"I will slap you if you keep asking me that," Mackenzie warned, settling back in the plush chair. She was reminded of chemotherapy every time she sat in this chair, the IV inserted. The only difference was the vampire blood that was being pumped into her system. "I'm fine, Godric. You know I'm fine, you can feel it. Why do you keep asking?"
"I can't help my worry," he admitted.
"It's working, Godric," she reached for his hand, her fingers intertwining with his. "It's really working. You don't have to worry about me."
"I think I'll always worry," he squeezed her hand gently.
Her grin widened as she happily sat there, their hands conjoined. Neither of the two spoke again until Ludwig reentered, declaring that their appointment was over and reminding them of their next in four days time.
"We may be able to extend to a week soon," Ludwig commented as Godric rubbed a drop of blood over the tiny wound where the IV had been.
"Really?" Mackenzie's eyes widened. "You think it's really working that well?"
"We'll see," the doctor waved them out of the room. "Now go, I'd like to peace and quiet this evening."
Mackenzie happily skilled out of the building, Godric chuckling as he followed. A month ago she was dying, and now here she was, happier than she had been in a very long time. And alive. So very much alive.
"So," she turned to the vampire as the reached the parking lot. "I talked to Eric and he said we could go out and grab me something to eat before you have to take me home."
Godric raised an eyebrow as he fished the car keys from his pocket. "Is that so?"
"Mhmm, I pulled the 'poor dying girl' face. Works like a charm," the blonde winked. "So, what do you say? I was thinking maybe we could go to Merlotte's and…"
"I think perhaps it would be best if I just took you home," Godric offered an apologetic smile before moving around her to the car.
Her eyes narrowed as she twisted around and stared at his back. "Seriously?"
"It would be best," he nodded, opening the passenger door and patiently waiting for her. "Come now, Mackenzie."
"No," she stood there stubbornly, her arms crossing over her chest.
"No?"
"No."
Godric sighed. "Eric will be furious if I bring you home late."
Mackenzie rolled her eyes. "I really don't care if Eric gets pissed off or not."
"His rule…"
"I'm tired of his rules," Mackenzie shook her head. "I love him dearly; I mean he's legally my father now. But he has the most idiotic rules that you're even more of an idiot for following."
"Those rules are keeping you alive," Godric pointed out.
"They're stupid."
"Stupid or not, I intend to continue to respect his wishes," the tiniest hint of impatience was clear in his tone. "It's time to go, Mackenzie."
"Well then you're far more of a coward than I thought you were," she knew she was playing with fire. She knew too well that you don't question a vampire's courage. They were supposed to fear nothing or no one, after all. Eric was the most stubborn of them all, Mackenzie knew from experience.
Godric raised an eyebrow at her comment. She was growing more like Eric with each passing day. "Like it or not, Mackenzie, this is the way it must be."
"No it's not," she stepped forward. "It doesn't have to be, you know."
"Of course it does."
She shrugged her shoulders. "What Eric doesn't know won't hurt him."
He was surprised at her tenacity. While innocent and naïve, there had always been a quench for rebellion in her, even when she was a child. She had a thirst for disobeying Eric.
"Are you suggesting going behind his back?"
Her lips began to twitch upwards. "Isn't that what teenaged daughters are supposed to do?"
He had to suppress a chuckle as he motioned to the car. "That will not be occurring."
"And why not?"
"You know why not. I am not going to put a wedge in your relationship; not again."
"Yeah well he's putting a wedge in ours."
Godric rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Why are you being so persistent about this all of a sudden, Mackenzie?"
"Because, Godric, I'm tired of letting other people control my life. This is me taking that control back."
"And it has to start with you wanting to go behind your father's back with me?" he raised an eyebrow incredulously. "Do you know how childish that sounds?"
She knew that it did, but she honestly just didn't care. "I spent months with this disease, Godric. I spent months fighting as hard as I could to live but knowing deep down inside that it wouldn't be enough. Cancer controlled my life, and I hated it. There were times I couldn't get out of bed, no matter how hard I wanted to make it to a test or to a friend's birthday. I was sick; I was dying. I couldn't do anything."
He looked away as she paused. It always tore him apart when she spoke about the months he hadn't been there, the time they all hadn't been there for her like they should have been.
"I came home because I wanted to at least die with my family. But then I got kidnapped by people who share the same blood as me. And then the Authority wanted a piece of me, and I had no choice but to become their little darling. Now I have to go in for treatments every few days for your blood or else I'll die. How is that anyway to live? Every single person and thing in my life is controlling everything that I do. When does that change?"
"Mackenzie…" Godric stepped towards her.
Mackenzie held up a hand to stop him. "Maybe you don't like me. And that's fine. Then say so and I'll move on. But I really don't think that's the case. I think you do like me."
"It's more complicated than that," he would give his left arm to not give a care and to take her right then and there. But he couldn't further damage his relationship with Eric, and the last thing he wanted was for father and daughter to be at ends with one another because of him.
"I like you Godric," she could see the doubts and the excuses already forming on Godric's lips and she quickly continued. "And don't you dare tell me that it's your blood and the dreams. Because I haven't had those dreams for weeks. And even if I still was having them, reality beats the hell out of them every single damn time. I like you. A lot."
His gaze flickered to the ground. "You're not supposed to."
"So you're telling me how to feel now?" Mackenzie snorted. "Can't I even have that?"
"Eric does not…"
"I don't care! I really don't. So he'd get pissy and probably throw a thing or two. So what? He'd get over it. I have a pretty good manipulative woe is me thing going on. Eventually he would move on and get over it," she pointed out. Sure, Eric would be insufferable about the whole thing, but they were a family now. Officially. He might get angry and distance himself. But he would get over it. She knew that he would.
So why the hell ere they still standing there talking about this?
"I like you, Godric," her gaze softened. "And I really don't care about Eric's rules."
What was she doing to him? He could feel the urges he had tries desperately to shove aside the last month. With each transfusion, his desires grew. She may not have had a dream recently, but he had had plenty for the both of them. It was excruciating not to lay his hands on her hips, to shove her against the nearest wall and rip the clothes from her body. He was almost thankful for Eric's overprotectiveness and the need for a room full of babysitters whenever he and Mackenzie were together. Had they not have been there, his composure surely would have slipped away long ago.
"I'm taking control of my life back. And that's starting with you," she took a handful of steps closer, until she was nearly within reach. "If you don't like me, then please just say something. Because I really really want you."
Godric could feel his arousal stirring, his orbs darkening as his fangs threatened to release. She was playing a very dangerous game and she didn't even realize it.
"He doesn't have to know. And even if he found out, who cares?"
"What exactly did you think would happen?" Mackenzie noted his voice was lower, huskier. A jolt of pleasure shot through her. "Was I to take you to a remote location, sweep you off your feet, and take every inch of your body?"
A shudder ran through her, goose bumps rising on her arms. That's exactly what she had been hoping for. "Is that so wrong?"
"It's supposed to be, yes," he admitted, closing the distance between them. His fingers ached to touch her, to caress every inch of her.
"I'm really okay with that," a smirk slowly drew across her lips. "So, Godric, are you going to let me take control of my life again?"
His head tilted, as if he were in thought. After a long, excruciating moment of shifting from one foot to the other anxiously, Godric stepped back and tapped the open car door.
"Get in the car, Mackenzie."
Her mouth dropped open. She had pulled out all the stops, and he was still denying her? "Are you kidding me? Are you really just…"
"Get in the car before I take you on the hood of this car here and now in plain sight."
The sensual warning caused her lower region to burn with need. She searched for a witty come back, but could instead only squeak out a "oh."
"Car. Now."
Her heart felt like it was going to leap right out of her chest as she quickly nodded and hurried around the vampire to slip into the car. Before she did however, she suddenly stopped and gave him a suspicious look. "This isn't some trick, right? You're not going to drive me home, are you?"
Mackenzie was surprised when his hands found her hips, pressing her up against the side of the car. His grip caused a small gasp to emit from her lips, her eyes growing side. Godric's one hand began lifting every so slowly up her side, grazing the side of her breast before cupping her cheek.
"You don't realize how difficult it has been not to have you, do you?" his thumb ghosted across her bottom lip. "If it hadn't of been for Eric's rule…"
"It's a stupid rule," she breathed out, noticing how close Godric really was. Just by breathing, their chests were touching. She could feel her nipples hardening each and every time. She might just have to take Godric up on his warning.
"One that I find myself unable to follow at this time. Are you certain? Because I will not be able to contain myself, Mackenzie. That is both a warning and a threat."
She couldn't find the words. She couldn't find a single word at all. All Mackenzie could do was nod, hoping it would be enough.
It was.
"Then get in the car."
His hands dropped away, allowing her to climb in. Once again, before she did, she paused to shoot him another glance. An agitated raise of an eyebrow met her gaze.
"Just so we're clear, this is me taking control by totally making the decision to get in the car," she wanted to make clear.
"Of course," he nodded with amusement. "In."
He was beside her in the car seconds later.
It felt like hours they had been driving. In reality, it had barely been more than 10 minutes. Why was it taking so damn long to find somewhere to have sex? Hell, she would have taken that parking lot if she knew it was going to take this long.
Godric did his best to hide his glee as he eyed Mackenzie. Her knee was bouncing in anticipation at it was difficult not to snicker in amusement. His doubts would have seen this as anxiety and would have driven him to take her home. His doubts, however, were not in sight. They had been left in that parking lot. She wanted him. She had made it very clear that she did. Perhaps he would regret it later, and certainly would should Eric find out. But in that moment, watching her bite her bottom lip, her hands fidgeting in her lap, oh he just didn't care about anything else.
"Oh my god this light is killing me," Mackenzie groaned under her breath.
They had been stopped at the same light for longer than she would have liked.
"There's not even any cars!" she glared in frustration at the stupid traffic light. It was taunting her. If she had been to care about fate, she would have seen this as a giant sign to not do this. But she wasn't. Not after everything that had happened. Instead, it was an annoying pain in her ass.
Mackenzie jumped when she felt a hand on her knee, her gaze momentarily forgetting about the light and falling to Godric's hand. He squeezed her knee gently before slowly rising up her leg. He stopped in an appropriate location very innocently. She tore her stare away from his hand and to his face, but found the same blank expression on his face since they had begun driving. He wouldn't even look at her. He was just staring straight ahead at the…
His hand pushed under her dress this time.
"Remind me to thank you later for this particular choice of garment," were the only words Godric spoke before falling silent.
Mackenzie was silently singing praise to Sookie for thinking she needed more sundresses in her wardrobe.
Every time his hand paused on her leg, his thumb would rub small circles, eliciting small moans from her. When he reached her mid thigh, her hand gripped the leather of the seat. As it stopped just below were her panties began, she found that she could no longer breathe. The moment a single digit slid underneath the cloth and traced her lips, she found her voice again.
"Oh god!" she head fell back against the headrest, her eyes fluttering.
The light was still red.
The tiniest of grins spread across Godric's lips as he tested just how ready she was for him. He dipped a finger inside of her, teasingly wiggling it around to elicit the response he was hoping for. Her moans of pleasure was magic to his ears. The tip of another finger was inserted, but before he could continue, the light finally changed.
"Oh thank god finally...wait no!" Mackenzie cried out as his fingers quickly retracted. Her mouth dropped open when he lifted his fingers and sniffed them before his tongue darted out.
His grin transformed into a smirk. Oh she tasted even more exquisite than he remembered.
"Godric…"
"Patience, love."
She was patient for another five minutes before she was about to hound him to just pull over all ready. She was horny and needed him. Oh she damn well needed him. His little stunt had done nothing but throw her over the edge, and he knew exactly what he had done.
Thankfully, Godric pulled off the main road and onto a gravel one, driving down a narrow path before coming to a stop at what appeared to be a dead end. If he had gotten them lost, she was going to give him hell.
After she jumped him, of course.
"Come along, Mackenzie," she jumped when he suddenly appeared at her now open door.
Her mouth felt dry as she slid a hand into his and let him lead her away from the car.
"So, not taking me on the hood then?" she threw the car one last glance before he tugged her around a group of trees that hid the path from view.
"Perhaps another time," he promised. "When I have time to ensure it does not reek of sex afterwards."
Her cheeks flushed a deep shade of red.
"Come."
Before she could question where he was taking her, she was awed then they came to a stop just on the edge of a field. It was abandoned, only wild flowers littering the grass. Trees lined the area heavily, keeping them completely from view of any nearby streets.
"I believe we are far enough out of sight, don't you agree?" he suddenly turned, pressing her back against the closest tree.
"Oh!" she could feel his hardness against her as his fingers dug into her hips.
"Now, you are certain, aren't you?" he was giving her every possible out that he could. She could have pushed his hand away in the car and he would have gladly driven her back home. But she hadn't. He would give her one last chance now.
And then there would be no going back.
"I'm sure," she somehow managed out, her hips twisting as she sought for her prize.
Godric chuckled as he nudged her legs apart with his knee, nestling himself harder against her. "Eric cannot know of this."
She barely had the chance to nod her head before Godric was reaching beneath her and ripping her panties right from her body. It appeared she wouldn't be returning home with them.
Mackenzie moaned happily as his fingers danced across her mound, the tips teasing her lips. She was more than ready for him. Her sounds were cut off as his lips swept down to capture her own, parting them with ease as he swiped his tongue across her bottom lip. Mackenzie tried to move against Godric, begging for any sort of friction, but he merely grasped tighter onto her hip to keep her still.
"Please…" she pleaded when his lips began trailing across her jaw and down her neck, resting above her pulsing vein. Her heart was beating frantically, the blood calling to him just beneath the surface.
He removed his fingers and gave her hip a gentle squeeze before she felt him at her entrance. Her eyes fluttered close as she heard the familiar click of his fangs extending, grazing across the curve of her neck.
"Just so we're clear," he murmured, inhaling her scent mixed with her arousal. "Despite his rules, despite everything else. You. Are. Mine."
He pushed into her then, her hands flying to his sturdy shoulders as she cried out his name. He paused, only half of himself inserted, as he waited for her to grow used to his size. Their first time had been rushed to ensure they weren't interrupted. But he was going to take his time, he was going to make sure she knew exactly how much he wanted – needed – this.
His pace was slow, almost too slow for Mackenzie's taste. She needed him to go faster, to go harder. She tried to buck her hips, to increase the pressure, but Godric's strength kept her pressed against the tree, unmoving except with each of his thrusts.
"Harder, please…" she begged, her moans loud and clear. They were far enough away from the road, from civilization that she didn't give a crap how loud she was. "More. Please god, more."
Godric tugged the straps of her dress off of her shoulders and he pulled her breasts free. With one hand still on her hips, his other found its way to a nipple, circling the small hardened nub before pinching just hard enough to elicit a scream of pure ecstasy.
"Godric!" she needed more of him, so much more.
"Patience."
"Fuck patience," she forced out, her fingernails digging into his shoulders. "Harder. Now."
He lifted is lips from her neck, his eyebrow raised, a smirk wide on his lips. "Is that a request?"
"Don't be a dick and just…"
He went harder. He went so much harder. She couldn't even make a sound as he slid entirely out of her before slamming back inside with such speed she didn't even think possible. She lost track of time, of reality, until she felt the building orgasm just waiting to be released. She climaxed with only the single warning of her nails scratching at his arms. He was close behind, his fangs hovering over his desired location. It was all he could do to stop himself from sinking them inside her flesh and tasting her. No, her blood was far too important now. One day, perhaps one day he would gladly taste her sweet blood. But not now, not when she was still fighting for her life.
"Time check?" Mackenzie popped her head out of the bathroom.
"Eric will be expecting us in 15 minutes," Godric informed, pulling the clean shirt over his head.
"I just need to dry my hair. Give me five," she flashed him a smile before disappearing back into the room.
With the door closed behind her, she couldn't help but grin at herself in the mirror. Her plan worked. Sure, it had taken some convincing, but she had gotten her wish. She didn't know if it would happen again, but she knew for certain now how Godric felt about her. That's what mattered.
She could always just pull another stunt like tonight if he refused her again for another month.
They had made their way to a motel just down the road from their escapades, Godric finding a small clothing store just as close. Both showered and changed, not wanting Eric to have a single clue what they had been up to. As far as he knew, Godric had taken her to Merlotte's for dinner. Of course, that had prompted Mackenzie to call Sam, questioning if Sookie had been working. She hadn't been, and she had bribed him – threatened him with countless of tears – to tell Eric they had been there should he ever call. Sam had been gracious enough to agree, and they officially had an alibi.
"We should get going," Godric's whispered tone in her ear caught her by surprise, jumping as she turned the blow dryer off. Her hair was still a bit damp, but she could come up with some excuse. "All ready?"
His arms slid around her, tugging her back against his chest.
"Keep that up and we might not get out of here," she warned, wiggling against him.
"You are playing a very dangerous game," his voice darkened and quickly parted their bodies. He could already feel the twitch of arousal again.
"Save it for another time," she laughed, patting his shoulder before dashing out of the room and grabbing their things. "Shall we?"
Godric nodded as he followed her out of the room, disappearing for only moments to check them out before returning to open the passenger door. "Mackenzie, I cannot…"
"I know," she smiled up at him before pecking him on the cheek. "You can't promise this will happen again. That's okay."
"Is it?"
"Oh of course," the smile grew into a smirk, one she had definitely learned from her father. "Because I'll just seduce you again and everything will be all right."
"Is that so?"
"Mhmm," Mackenzie winked before sliding into the car. "Now come on old man, time to get me home before my Viking father gets all pissy and locks me away in a tower for the rest of my life."
Godric snickered as he closed the door and joined her in the car.
Mackenzie couldn't wipe the grin from her lips as Godric drove. She was no longer dying, not really anyways. She had a father and a loving family. And she had a hopeful budding relationship with someone she really shouldn't be.
Everything felt right, just as it should be.
