Viewing the latest dark miracle outside the Art Gallery along with Angela (and Professor Layton, Emmy and Luke not too far away, including Dalston), Elaine didn't need to fake her look of shock. She had not expected Randall to appear walking on air with ease as though he was on solid ground, nor did she expect several of the viewing tourists to start floating up into the air until not even a speck of them could be spotted in the night sky before the Masked Gentleman brought up the Mask of Order (probably at Descole's request) as well as giving an invitation to the Pumpkin Patch amusement park before he bid his adieu and vanished.

The look had lessened when the local police arrived to bring Dalston in for questioning, with Henry just behind them. She knew Henry was going to do something like this, though she couldn't say that she had expected so many officers. The amount was a bit ludicrous. Had they come for the Masked Gentleman, it probably would have been an adequate amount, for one man however who possibly would have been able to fight back as much as a bookcase, it was just a bit much.

Henry just gave Elaine a nod of goodbye as he and Angela left. Not surprising. They were in public and Henry couldn't be seen giving 'Madeline' a kiss on the cheek, even if just to say goodbye.

"Madeline?" Elaine looked to the Professor, though he was a little more focused on the direction the police took Dalston in. "I was wondering if Henry gave any indication that he would have Dalston brought in for questioning?"

"Erm, Monsieur Ledore did ask me to call the Chief Inspector for him to arrange a meeting. But I didn't think it would end like this." Elaine replied as she glanced in the same direction as the Professor.

"Must be difficult working for him," Emmy remarked. "He doesn't seem the most…"

"I know 'e seems cold, but 'e does 'ave a... softer side." Elaine figured that would be Madeline's explanation of choice. "But in the world of business, you can't exactly show that too often. Can you?"

"Fair enough I suppose." Emmy admitted. "But there still must be plenty of work that has to be done."

"Oui, though it could be worse," Elaine shrugged. "If Elaine was 'ere, she could possibly do some of it. Or at least the paperwork part of the job. Or at the very least perhaps give insight into these Masks of Chaos and Order. Even if minor, it would be more than I do at least."

"If you don't mind me asking, where was the Mask of Chaos last before it was stolen?" asked the Professor.

"The Mask? Erm, I'm not too sure," Elaine admitted. "It was somewhere in the Ledore estate at least. I wouldn't know where exactly though."

The Professor hummed to himself as he held a hand to his chin.

"Madeline, I know this may be a personal question, but have you heard of any development in relation to your cousin's disappearance?" It had been an innocent enough question. It sounded innocent, the answer would be innocent. Yet, something about it caused some concern in Elaine.

"Not that I know of. Elaine's parents, my aunt and uncle, left 'ome for France not too long ago to visit relatives. Philippe thought it would be good for them to leave for a bit."

"I suppose they can't be blamed." Emmy commented with a small frown. The Professor still looked thoughtful as he looked at Elaine and it was starting to make her a bit nervous. The Professor was smart, but he couldn't have figured Elaine out already. Could he? Granted, Elaine made a small slip with the contact lenses, but that surely wasn't enough.

"Would you perhaps be able to give us directions to the Pumpkin Park? Just so we'll know where to go tomorrow night?" asked the Professor as he gave a smile. Elaine had been surprised by this question when he had looked so thoughtful seconds ago.

"Well, of course. If you 'ad paper I could write them down for you." Elaine was glad she could recall where the amusement park was. It would almost be impossible to explain why she couldn't remember if she hadn't.

"Here you go." Luke had been the one to offer a pen and his notebook to write in. Finding a clean page, Elaine was quick to write the directions of the quickest way to the park from the gallery.

"'Ere you go." Elaine handed both pen and notebook back. "I'd like to stay longer, but I think it would be best to 'ead 'ome now."

"Yes, we should head back to our hotel as well. Thank you for your help." The Professor tipped his hat before he left with Luke and Emmy at his side. Elaine stood there alone for a moment, staring up at the Art Gallery. With nothing else to do or say, even out loud to herself, Elaine turned to leave.

Elaine must have been tired from work and tonight's events. She hadn't intended to do so, but she had found herself having fallen asleep on the couch. She had only closed her eyes for a minute or two. She had fully intended to get up in a moment to get ready for bed. But the next thing she knew it was…

Elaine frowned in annoyance at her watch. The damn battery stopped sometime around twenty five past nine. Elaine looked to the clock on the wall and saw it was in fact half eleven at night. Not too bad. She'll just get dressed and-.

"Finally awake I see." Elaine turned around to see Descole stand not far behind the couch.

"'Ow… 'Ow do you keep getting in 'ere?"

"I have my ways, Elaine. I have ways." Elaine didn't even bother to groan or sigh.

"That's great, but I'm going to bed now so-."

"No time to talk?"

"I'm tired." Elaine replied bluntly. "I'm tired, and just want to sleep. Can't you talk to Randall or Raymond?"

"I don't wish to and busy." Descole moved to sit down on the couch and Elaine swung her legs off. "Besides, there is something I want to tell you."

"You're getting me out of this?" Elaine spoke a little hopefully, but that idea was dashed when Descole shuck his head.

"No, I've decided that since we'll be finished here soon, that you'll have to stay in your position a little while longer."

"Fine then. Just say what you want to say, and let me go to bed."

"That man, Leonard Bloom," Descole spoke. "I've only discovered recently that he's here, and appears to be staying in the Reunion Inn."

"What about him?" Elaine questioned.

"Stay away from him. Unless he's asking about the Masked Gentleman, come up with any excuse or lie to avoid contact with him."

"Why should I…?" Elaine trailed off and a light smirk came to her lips. "Oh, is Dessy jealous~?"

"Elaine, I'm serious." Descole all but snapped. "I don't care who you talk to so long as you don't divulge too much. But stay. Away. From Bloom." Elaine frowned from Descole's tone and words. It just seemed out of the blue that Descole would say this, even if he only found out about Bloom recently. The only explanation would be if… be if…

Elaine's frown lowered.

"Is… Is 'e with-?"

"Just stay away from him as much as possible." Descole cut across. The silence that followed felt a bit awkward in Elaine's opinion. She shifted in her seat a little but with no more words spoken she stood up.

"If that's all, I'll be going to bed now." Elaine muttered as she stood up. Still in a bit of a tired daze, she swayed a little but steadied herself. Before she could move further though, She was surprised by Descole standing up and putting an arm around her waist and pulling her hand to hold onto his shoulder.

"What are…?"

"I'm helping you up to your bed of course. It's only gentlemanly of course."

"Since when were you a 'gentleman'?" Elaine scoffed. Descole gave a mocking pout of hurt.

"That truly wounds me, my dear puppy."

"Well if you're trying to be a gentleman, can't you just carry me upstairs bridal style?" Descole gave a small smirk and tightened his hold lightly around Elaine's waist.

"You're capable of walking and are fully awake. I'm not obliged to." Descole said before he began to lead Elaine up the stairs.

"So you're lazy then?"

"You asked to be carried up, so you're the lazy one."
