It was an emotional day as Poppy held Charli close in her arms as she finished packing her bags. Charli's forever family was with a councillor named Emily who'd worked with Poppy when Jessica became ill. At 11am, the doorbell rang and Rachel answered.

"Good morning, is she ready?"

"Yes, I'll help you put her things in the car whilst the girls say goodbye."

In the living room, Olivia planted a kiss on Charli's head and wished her luck before passing her back to Poppy. Charli sat on her lap, playing gently with the beads on her top, blissfully unaware of the events that awaited her.

The car was packed and Emily was eager to leave. Goodbyes are hard and prolonging this could have a detrimental effect on both girls. Poppy gently placed Charli in her car seat and strapped her in the car.

"Goodbye, little one, I'll miss you."

Rachel moved Poppy away from the car and towards the front door. They waved as Emily drove away. Poppy broke down in floods of tears as soon as they were out of sight and it was up to Rachel to comfort her.
