Part Twenty-Three

Roman pushed open the door to the room that the other members of the Shield were in, the man sticking his head in to check and make sure that it was okay to enter, then gesturing for her to go in ahead of him. Despite the fact that Roman had checked first, Eve still went into the room a bit cautiously, the diva immediately discovering that Seth was indeed still decent after his match... He'd taken off the vest and gloves he wore, but was still wearing everything else, and his hair was once again pulled back. He smiled and nodded when he saw her, but Ambrose gave a slight frown, his gaze moving over her face, then flicking over toward Roman.

"Everything okay?" he wanted to know, and Eve flicked a look over at Roman, then shrugged her shoulders, turning her gaze back to Ambrose.

"It's fine," she said, and Roman snorted.

"For now, anyway. When we got back to Booker T's office, we heard Teddy Long trying to convince Booker to let him change Eve's managerial assignment," the big man said, making his way over to where everyone's stuff was and adding Eve's things to the pile. Eve, who was still holding her divas' title, made her way over and carefully draped her championship belt over her bag.

"Oh, was he now?" Ambrose intoned, and Seth frowned.

"But you're here, so I'm guessing that didn't work," the man said, drawing his feet up onto the table he was sitting on and resting his arms on his knees.

"No, it didn't. But we did get a chance to see how determined Teddy is to take me away from you guys now that he's realized that you're not angry with me for all of this," Eve said, the woman making her way over to one of the folding chairs that was set up in the room and taking a seat. Looking around, she noted that they appeared to be in a room that was set up to store extra things... Folding chairs, lamps, even some rolled up rugs that were propped up against the wall. "Pretty much the first thing Booker wanted to talk about tonight was Teddy's 'concerns' about me working with the three of you."

"Wait... Are you saying he went to Booker before the show or whatever, then again after the match?" Ambrose wanted to know, and Eve nodded her head, the diva leaning forward in her seat a bit, resting her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands.

"Basically. I guess he was surprised to see me out there for Seth's match," Eve said, flicking a look over at Rollins as she spoke, then turning her attention back to Ambrose. "Teddy tried to convince Booker that you guys were dangerous to me and that he should be allowed to change my assignment."

Ambrose snorted. "Well, if we're so damned dangerous, maybe he should have thought about that before putting you with us."

"Pretty much what Eve said. And we would have told you about this before the match tonight, but there wasn't time," Roman stated, the man pulling out a chair of his own and sitting down in it, stretching his legs out in front of him. He shook his head as he thought about what had happened so far that night. "Believe it or not, Mr. General Manager actually wanted me to leave the room so that Eve could 'speak freely'. Like he thought me being there would intimidate her or something," the man said, and when Seth arched a brow and looked over at Eve for confirmation of Roman's words, the woman nodded her head.

"He did. And I told him that I was perfectly fine where I was, and that Monday night should have proven that you guys are not a danger to me and that instead you're actually concerned about my safety. Your actions during and after the match on Monday certainly weren't the actions of people that pose a danger to me," the diva said, and Seth nodded, though he made a face as he did so.

"I still hate that Big E got his hands on you-"

"And I hate that I've missed seeing Roman spear him not once, but twice," Eve said, making sure to sound at least a bit disgruntled as she spoke, the comment and attitude working as she'd hoped and making Seth smile instead of sitting there looking annoyed with himself. She wondered if maybe he'd thought that, as her actual tag team partner that night, he should have looked out for her welfare better or something... Whatever the case, she didn't blame any of them for Big E yanking her out of the ring like he had. It hadn't been their fault, and they'd helped her out as quickly as they could.

"Now remember, I told you that since you keep missing it, I'm just going to have to keep spearing him until you get to see it," Roman said, and while Eve smiled at that - because he pretty much had said he'd spear Langston again for her when they'd been out there in the ring after Seth's match had ended - Ambrose's expression remained serious.

"You're likely to get the chance," the blonde man said, shoving a hand through his hair. His hair, which had been wet and slicked back earlier, had dried quite a bit, seemingly going every which way and showing more than a hint of curl.

Roman arched a brow at the other man. "You think?"

"Definitely. I doubt this thing with Ziggler and Langston and their crazy little friend is over. Seth beat Ziggler tonight, and he and Eve beat Ziggler and AJ on RAW, but I don't think that's the end of it. They're pissed that we managed to beat them twice, and that we did it cleanly. I'm guessing whatever they challenge us to next will involve Langston in some way."

"He hasn't had a main roster match yet," Eve put in. "With the way the three of you didn't have a main roster match until the TLC pay-per-view, I have to wonder if the big shots will want to do the same for him... Wait for his in-ring debut until a pay-per-view."

"Could happen," Ambrose said. "Royal Rumble's not too far away. Could happen then. Or I could be wrong. But I don't think it's over with the three of them. Not by a long shot."

"Then I guess we'll just have to be ready for them," Rollins said, and Ambrose nodded, then looked toward Eve, meeting her eyes.

"What about Teddy Long? Do you think he's done?"

"Definitely not. But Booker T shut him down for now, at least when it comes to changing my assignment. That doesn't mean that Teddy won't try to come up with something else."

"I'm sure he will. Just like I'm sure that whatever he tries next? Won't succeed."
