Chapter 17: Return of an Enemy

Jack POV

The Empire State building. I suppose it's been awhile since I've visited. But then again I suppose it was probably in the 1940' or 50's. I can't remember that well. Me and Elsa walk towards the entrance filled with excitement.

"You ok Elsie?" I ask.

"Yeah just… really nervous and excited!" She giggled. I could tell.

"Well shall we?" I ask.

"Yes let's go!" She jumped. She grabbed my arm and pulled me. We raced off to the entrance.

When we got to the entrance I offered a hand for her to go first. Y'know, gentleman like.

"Ladies first." I offered.

"Why thank you Jack." She smiled as she walked inside. I walk right behind. We go to the map displayed in the lobby.

"So where would you like to go?" She asks.

"Any where you want to."

"Jack." She looked at me sternly. "You've done enough of that already. This time want to go where you want to."

I guess she's right. The Empire State Building is a start, so I might as well follow up on it. I look to the map and see something that catches my attention.

"Hey there's a museum section on floor 101. That's new. Wanna see it?" I actually want to see it.

"Yeah, let's go!" She giggled as she pulled on my arm yet again. Yet feeling her hand on my hand, for some reason feels rather nice. I suddenly get the little feeling I have in my chest. But luckily for me I took my medication.

We got on the elevator and pressed the button for floor 101. Surprisingly we are the only two people on the elevator. The wait was an awkward silence. Then suddenly our elevator, rocked, shook, and then stopped. Naturally Elsa was started by this and grabbed my hand again.

"W-Wha-… What happened?" She wondered. She seems a little spooked by all this.

"This is your elevator operator speaking. Your elevator seems to be stuck. You two sit tight and we'll have you out in no time."

Even though that was reassuring, Elsa still looked a little scared. I felt bad for her. My hand intertwined with hers to make her feel comfortable. She turned to me, smiling down at her.

"Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere. I stay by you." I reassured her.

"Thanks, Jack." She smiled. Then she rests her head on my shoulder. She looked like she was asleep. You know I never said this before but she actually smells really nice.

Elsa POV

We're alone in a broken down elevator. My heart starts to race. I never felt this way before. I knew that I was in love with him but never like this. This was it. I want to let him know how I feel. I want to tell him my feelings.

"Jack can I tell you something?"

"Oh sure." He smiled.

"Well it's not easy for me to say, it's kind of embarrassing to try and say." I blushed red.

"It's okay. Take your time. I won't rush you, I'm very patient." He kept smiling. Oh my gosh his smile is so cute.

"Ok… here it goes." I breathed. "I… I… I lo-." But my words were interrupted by the shaking of the elevator. It was fixed. The shaking caused me to fall into his arms.

"You okay?" He asked. "That was a close one."

"Uh huh." I got lost in looking at him. He was that charming. We arrive at the 101th floor.

"Hey Elsa, what did you want to tell me?" Jack asked.

I turn red in the face again. "I'll tell you next time. You okay with that?"

"Sure. I'll wait forever if you want me to, or if I have to." He nodded.

"Thanks." I smiled. Damn it! I had a chance and I blew it!

Jack POV

The museum section was simply amazing. Seriously it has everything. An art section of paintings and sculptures, a history section of famous people, and a discovery section with prehistoric creatures, jewels, and treasures. We were both really enjoying it.

"This place is amazing!" Elsa wondered around in amazement.

"I know, isn't it breath taking!" I said in the same reaction. However one display shown brighter than all the rest and caught my attention. A big sapphire colored stone was set in protective glass and displayed at the center of the room. I looked at my necklace; it was the exact same material. No doubt about it. This was the magic stone that made the protective barrier around the entire island of Manhattan. "Amazing." I was in total awe.

Elsa then walked over in total awe as well. "It's huge. What is it?"

"It a magic stone." I explained. "This is what creates the protective barrier that conceals our kind."

"So… it's just like your necklace."

"Yeah."

"Well you seem to know your stuff, lad." Said a voice in an Irish accent. We turn to see a dwarf man walking up to us. "If I may take a guess I presume you're Jack Frost."

"Y-Yes. That's me."

"Pleasure to meet at last, I'm Patrick St. Lucky. Call me Lucky." He shook my hand. (Get it? lol.)

"So… are you a Guardian?" I guessed.

"Indeed lad." He giggled. "I'm a leprechaun. The Guardian of Luck." He bowed.

"Oh wow!" Elsa gasped. "A leprechaun!" To any common person Lucky would be seen as someone with dwarfism, but Elsa knew the world was full of strange wonders.

"And who might you be, my lady?" He asked gentleman like.

"Oh sorry. I'm Elsa. Elsa Arendelle." She shook his head.

"A pleasure." He smiled. He then looked at his watch. "Oh! It's almost closing time. I suggest you people try the last floor on top. You'll get a great view of the sunset."

We looked outside. He was right. We smiled at each other and decided to go up to the 102th floor. "Thanks. It was nice meeting you."

"Same with you dear boy." He smiled.

We reached the top floor. It had a gift shop with clothes and souvenirs. People looking around for what to buy.

"Jack, look!" She tugged me over to the balcony.

"Wow." I sighed breathlessly. I've seen many sunsets before but on top of the Empire State Building it was breath taking.

"It's so beautiful." She looked out in amazement.

"It really is." I then looked towards Elsa. "And so are you." I smiled. But then I just realized it. Wait! What did I just say!? I start to sweat bullets.

"Y-You… You really think so?" She blushed bright red.

"Um… y-yes." I stammered. I was so nervous. Why did say that out loud? Is something going wrong here. But then the next thing I knew we started to move our heads slowly towards one another. Then my hearts starts to race. Wait, do spirits even have heart beats? For that matter what am about to do? What is this feeling inside? But before anything else happens, my eyes see someone. I was in total shock to see who it was. Pitch Black!

"Um Jack?" I turn my attention back to Elsa. "Um… I'm gonna go get a souvenir for Anna. Is that ok?"

"Oh uh… sure I don't mind. I'll wait right here." I smiled weakly.

"Greta!" She smiled. "I'll be back in a minute." She jogs off. I think it was good timing, cause I don't want her to get involved with someone like Pitch.

I then turn my attention to Pitch. Who apparently is now wearing a nice tux and a slick hat. Like gangster. He turns to me a haves hello casually. What is he up to?

Elsa POV

Oh my gosh! We almost kissed! I blushed bright red. My heart is racing so fast! I feel like I can hardly breathe. Looking at Jack's amazing features. His face is so cute and handsome at the same time.

There was no doubt about it. I'm in love with Jack Frost. I love him so much. But does he feel the same about me? Oh well I can't dwell on it that much. I think I might as well get something for Anna.

Jack POV

I stood leaning against the balcony watching the sunset. Pitch did the same except he was smoking a cigar. Go figure.

"Beautiful site, wouldn't you say?" He casually spoke to me.

I guess he's trying to stay in hiding like me. I suppose I better play along for the time being. "Yeah. It is." I respond trying not to sound bitter.

A moment of silence past. "You know, from up here it's like you can see the whole world from up here." He said. "But then again we've seen the world many times before." He laughed.

I think it was time to cut the bullshit. "What are you up too this time Pitch?"

He only chuckled. "Now that would be telling. Doesn't have the same drama to it if I just tell."

"Whatever you're up to, we'll stop it all the same." I glared.

"Well that's your prerogative. Still I guess I could give you a hint." He smiled. "You and the rest of the guardians are in for a surprise."

"Does this have anything to do with the magic stone?" I suspected.

"Nothing gets by you does it?" He chuckled again. "You catch on fast." I started to get a gut feeling about this. "But don't worry. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary today. But I'll keep that a secret. Still the magic stone is part of the equation. But it's just a side dish before the main course."

"Is this a game to you?" I gritted my teeth.

"You should know THAT by now. After all fun and games are your specialty." He smirked. He was really starting to get on my nerves. "Well I guess I better call it a night." We walks away. "Oh and by the way, you can go ahead and tell your Guardian friends about me. It doesn't matter any way."

"What?" I was baffled.

"So stick around. Cause the main event will come soon." He smiled. He walked away and just like magic he was gone. What does he mean? And why is he leaving himself half open? Whatever it is, it can't be good.

It was nighttime as we walked back to her apartment. So far there are no nightmares or fearlings. But I wasn't worried because I was enjoying my talk with Elsa. The awkward moments seem to feel like they didn't exist. Well that's two good signs.

Elsa POV

When we arrived we were about to say our goodbyes.

"Jack." I turned to Jack. "I had a wonderful time today." I really did.

"Yeah, me too." He smiled.

"Can we do this again sometime?"

"Of course anytime you want. On the weekends that is." He chuckled.

"Yeah. Weekends are awesome." I giggled. "Tomorrow or Sunday?" I blushed.

"I'll see from my family." He smiled.

"Yeah same here." I giggled. I reached into my pocket to get her keys. "What!?" I gasped.

"What is it? What's wrong?" He asked with concern.

"Aww man! I forgot my keys!" I scolded myself.

"Hey not to worry. Fallow me!" He grabbed my hand and led me to an alleyway. His warm hand feels nice. My heart starts to race again. "This looks like a good spot." He takes off his necklace and goes into his winter spirit form.

"J-Jack what are you-?" I was interrupted by him wrapping his arms around me. Being this close to him and being held by him made me blush bright red.

"Hang on tight." He whispered. We went up slowly. I gasped and grabbed his waist. "Don't worry I won't let you fall." He whispered in my ear. His smile is really reassuring and cute.

We reached my bedroom window. I open the window and hop inside. Luckily my parents are out for dinner tonight and my sister in on another date with that Hans guy.

"Thanks Jack." I smile at him.

"Jack Frost always at your service m'lady." He bowed. I giggle at him. He such a funny guy. "Well I better get home."

"Yeah. Goodnight Jack." I sighed. But then cups my face with hands and does something unexpected but not nearly at exciting. He kisses me on the cheek. I gasp as I felt my cheek with my hand.

"Goodnight Snowflake." He smiled as he flew away.

I couldn't believe what just happened. It felt like a pleasant dream. I fell over on my bed smiling.

"H-He… He kissed me." I whisper to myself. "He really kissed me." Only on the cheek. But I didn't care. I fell happily to sleep.

Jack POV

I flew down on my apartment roof. Today was fun and amazing. Yet as I approach the roof door I stop and think about that kiss on Elsa's cheek.

"Hmm? Why did I just do that?" Then my chest starts to burn a little. But this time it's different. It actually feels comfortable. Like sitting by a warm fire. "That's strange. Usually this feeling would hurt. What changed?"

It was definitely the medication. The instructions did say it would subside a large portion of the pain. But then it FINALLY hit me.

"Wait a minute!" I started to put the pieces together. "Burning aching chest pains, the fact that I enjoy being around Elsa, the fact that I can't stop thinking about her, the fact that we enjoy each other's company!" I FINALLY came to the biggest realization I have ever been in.

"OH MY GOD, I HAVE CRUSH ON ELSA ARENDELLE!" I shouted.

Wow! I am such a dumbass.
