Chapter 18: Realizations and Revelations
Jack POV
I couldn't believe it took me this long to realize this. I fell in love with Elsa, I AM in love with Elsa, I have a crush on Elsa! And you know what? Admitting that actually makes me feel a lot better. I never felt this way before, it actually feels rather nice. Except there's one question that I still can't answer.
"How is it that I have a heartbeat?"
I walk in my apartment still in dream like state, not paying attention to my surroundings.
"Hey sweetie!" Tooth chirped. "So how was your date?"
"It was nice actually." I mumbled. But of course everyone heard it.
"Honey, are you okay?" Tooth titled her head.
"Yeah mom I'm okay." I kept walking to my room. Tooth was surprised.
"Did you guys hear that? He called me mom!" She squealed with joy.
"Oh crikey." Bunny widened his eyes in shock. "He's got it bad."
North stood up and jogged over to me. "Jack, wake up! Wake up." He snapped his fingers at me making me snap back into reality.
"Huh? Oh North, hey." I greeted.
"Are you alright lad?" North said with concern.
"Huh? Yeah I'm okay. Why do you ask?"
"You've been walking in a daze."
"Really? I have?" I was actually surprised myself.
"Oh I knew it!" Tooth cheered. "Tell me all the details! What happened between you two?"
Tooth! Calm down please." North said.
"Oh sorry." Tooth giggled and breathed. "I'll just get back to making dinner." She flew off into the kitchen.
"Ahem," North cleared his throat. "So how was it?"
"Huh? Oh that." I began. "It was great. We went to see a movie, got pizza, went to Central Park. In fact the weather was so nice we actually fell asleep. Then we went to the Empire State Building where we finally saw the giant magic stone."
"You did?" North smiled. "So you saw the Moon Stone." So that's what it was called. Hmm go figure.
"Yeah. And we also met Patrick St. Luck. The Guardian of Luck."
"HA!" North bellowed a laugh. "How is Lucky? I haven't seen him in ages."
"Yeah then we saw the view on the top and it was-." I stopped and remembered. "Oh no." I whispered.
"What is it, Jack?" North narrowed his eyes in concern.
"Pitch was there!" I widened my eyes.
"Pitch!?" North bellowed in wide eyed horror.
"Pitch!?" Everyone shouted in unison. I think I also heard Tooth drop a plate in the background.
"You saw Pitch!?" North stared at me with worry.
"Y-Yeah." I stammered.
"So that sniveling little rat bastard finally showed himself?" Bunny stepped in.
"Did he do anything to you!?" Tooth frantically checked all over me.
"Tooth I'm fine." I assured her. "Believe it or not he didn't do anything. We just stood there talking down to each other. I was feeling antsy the entire time we talked."
"That's it?" Bunny raised an eyebrow.
"What did he say?" North asked.
I told them everything what Pitch told me. The Moon Stone. Pitch allowing me to tell them about it. Something about this "Main Event." They all just stood there baffled and confused.
"So Pitch is gonna target the Moon Stone." Bunny wondered. "If he destroys it, the barrier will fall and all of us mythical creatures will be revealed!"
"Humans will begin to fear and he'll use that fear to make himself stronger!" North said.
"Yeah. But he said that it's just a… how did he put it? A side dish?" I thought.
"So the Stone is his secondary target?" Bunny asked.
"I guess you could call it that." I said.
"But what is his prime objective?" Tooth asked.
"He didn't say. What did you expect?" I answered. There was a long silence until North broke the silence.
"Oh that reminds me!" North snap his fingers. "Everyone, I want you all to see something." He motioned us to fallow him. We all went into the living room and took seats around the coffee table. "Everyone. Me and Sandy have been studying the black sand and found out something unbelievable." He placed a small jar of Pitch's nightmare sand at the center of the table.
"Well, what is it mate?" Bunny asked.
"This new black sand is an ever evolving force." North sighed. This was a complete shock, not to mention hard to believe. The black sand is now an evolving force?
"How is that even possible?" I stared in disbelief.
"I don't know. Somehow Pitch has managed to give the black sand a sort of consciences." North explained.
"But hasn't Pitch been doing that with all his Nightmares?" Tooth asked.
"Yes. But like I said before, this NEW black sand is an ever evolving force. Meaning that if it loses to someone or something it processes that information and learns from it making it grow more stronger than ever." North explained. We we're all in total shock by all this.
"You mean like an AI computer?" I asked.
"Exactly." North responded.
"So what do we with this?" Bunny pointed to the jar.
"That fortunately is just a piece of the New Black Sand. The main one is much nastier." North said. Pitch was right. I guess we are in for a surprise. I boy did we not like it one bit.
"W-Well hey guys." Tooth jumped in. "Let's not dwell on the bad stuff tonight. Let's talk about Jack's date." She suggested.
"Good idea." Bunny agreed. "So how was it?"
"Didn't I already explain it?" I said.
"Yeah, but what about the end?" Tooth asked.
"Oh! Well I took her home, said goodnight, and kissed her on check as a goodbye thing I guess." The last part I didn't plan on blurting out. But I just realized it until too late.
Tooth gasped. "You kissed her?" She squealed. "OH MY GOD! He Kissed her!" Just her saying that makes me go red.
"I said on the cheek!" I panicked and protested.
"But still it's so cute when I think about!" She squealed. Wow she and Anna have so much in common.
"She did say if it was okay to get together again this weekend. Tomorrow or Sunday." I brought up.
"I don't see a problem with that." Tooth said.
"Hey go right ahead." Bunny smiled. Sandy gave me thumbs up. North however was a little skeptical.
"North what do you think?" Tooth asked. North snapped back in.
"Oh! Well… if you want to… then I don't see why not." He said.
"Okay then I'll let Elsa know tomorrow." I smiled. "I'm gonna go to bed now. Goodnight." I ran to my room.
While getting ready for bed I still keep thinking about Elsa. I couldn't believe it. I'm in love with her. I can't help but smile widely. But I wonder if she feels the same about me. My thoughts were interrupted by the knocking on the door. It was North.
"You got minute?" He asked.
"Or two." I joked. "How can I help you?"
"Is your chest feeling any different?" He asked. I felt it for a few seconds.
"Well I do feel like I have a heart beat for some reason." I wondered. "Why?" North's eyes suddenly widened.
"So what Heart said is true." He mumbled to himself.
"Um… what's true?" I ask him looking confused.
"Jack. When you were with Elsa today, did you feel any different?" He asked. I checked outside my room and then turned back to North.
"Can you keep this quiet if I told you?" I asked politely. He nodded. "Ok." I took a deep breath and began. "I think I'm in love with Elsa." I quietly blurted out. North's eyes widened
"Oh. I see."
"It actually feels great. I think the medication allowed me to experience what it's like. Man, Dr. Heart is a genius." Jack kept on going. "I never thought I would experience this feeling again since my family back in my past."
"I'm happy for you Jack." He made a weak smile. But I could tell he was hiding something. "Listen Jack. There is reason why those pills subside a large portion of your pain. It was to test a theory, and apparently that theory is correct."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Jack. You falling in love is one of the reasons for the chest pains, but the pains themselves are a sign."
"A sign of what?"
"You are regaining your humanity."
Oh well that makes sense… wait… Wait, WHAT!?
