Chapter 19: Realizations and Revelations Part 2

Jack POV

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was regaining my humanity? It was hard to take it all in at once. I just realized that I am in love with Elsa and now I find out that it's causing me to regain my humanity. I didn't know whether to take it as good or bad.

"Wait! Are you saying that me having feelings for Elsa is causing me to regain my humanity?" I said in shock. North nodded.

"Yes."North said in weary voice. "I'm sorry I couldn't tell you Jack." I collapse on my bed. Speechless and thoughtless.

"H-How? How is this even possible?" I stammered.

"To answer that question, let me ask you one." North began. "Have you heard of Guardian named Nightlight?"

"Yeah. He was the Manny's bodyguard. Also he can use Dream Sand like Sandy." I said. I knew a little about him.

"That's right." North nodded.

"But what does this have to do with me?"

"Let me tell you story. You've always been a good listener of stories." North grinned. It's true. I love to hear North's stories.

(Insert The Sandman and the War of Dreams here.)

North told me everything. How Pitch used to be Kozmotis Pitchiner. About Pitch's family being torn apart by the Dream Pirates. About how he became the Bogyman. How Nightlight killed Pitch but came back due to a Moonlight beam. How Nightlight and Mother Goose Katherine were close friends. When Katherine was being held hostage. The last part of the story really put me in shock. Nightlight gave Katherine a Kiss of Goodnight. That caused Nightlight to become human again. Able to sleep. The two eventually became lovers, got married and had a family of their own. I just sat there stunned. It was nice touchy story, but all the same stunned.

"That's how it all became to be." North finished.

"I-I never knew all that." I stammered.

"This is the reason why Dr. Heart doesn't want you to fall in love with a human. He's worried that Pitch might take advantage of the situation." North explained.

"But why? I can't help having feelings for Elsa." I frowned. "I-I love her."

"I know. But remember when you explained to Elsa about your secret identity as Jack Frost?" He asked.

I thought about it and remembered. "Oh. Yeah that." I sighed. (See Chapter 12 to get this reference.)

"Just like the Spider-man comics, our enemies will use the ones we care about to hurt you." North explained.

"Does that mean I can't have a relationship with someone?" I ask in worry.

"No, I never said anything like that." North said.

"But that is what you are implying." I said.

"All I'm saying is you will always have the choice."

""What choice?"

"You can still be a Guardian and watch over the children. But that would mean severing all human attachments." North explained. "Or you can choose to live a human life. But that would mean you won't be a Guardian anymore. No immortality, no power, no anything. You won't be Jack Frost anymore, but just Jackson Overland once again." I stared in despair. Those were the only choices I had?

"But what's should I do?" I pleaded. "What is the right decision?"

"What does your instincts tell you?" North asked.

I put a hand over my chest. For the first time I feel a heart beat I haven't felt in years. But even so I was still confused.

"I… I don't know." I say. "I not sure I want to give up my guardianship and abandon the children, but I don't want to give up on something I haven't felt in years. But even so, am I still worthy of being guardian after what happ-." North stopped my rambling when he put his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't dwell in the past Jack." North said with sincere eyes. "I won't stop you on what future you pick. Whatever you decide I'll back you up all the way." He smiled. And with that North left my room. It was late so we all need to get some shuteye.

I put out my lights and lie down on my bed. I couldn't sleep for a whole half hour because I was still deciding on what I want. Either I can continue being a guardian or I can become human. Both seem good but both had a catch. I really hated choosing. But eventually I fell asleep.

A flicker my eyes open and find myself at a lake. I know this lake.

"Hey I know this lake." I realized. I was in Burgess Pennsylvania. I get up and walk over to the see the neighborhood of Burgess. I was completely in awe. "How did I get here?"

"Jack!" Called a familiar voice. I turn to see my one first believer, Jamie. I was still wide eyed, but I smiled widely too.

"Jamie!" He jumped up and hugged me.

"Jack come on! Let's go play! Everyone's waiting!" He said excitingly.

He pulled me over to see his friends. All them playing in the snow. Pippa, Caleb, Claude, Monty, and Cupcake. They all stop to see me and waved. I waved back. I felt ready to play a snowball fight with them. But then I see a small flame, suddenly it grew bigger. In flash I see the entire neighborhood of Burgess in flames. I stare in wide eyed horror. I can hear so many people screaming in agony. I then turn to see Jamie and his friends lying on the scorched earth, burning.

"N-No. No, please!" I shouted. "J-Jamie. Jamie!" It was no use. All of Burgess was gone and I couldn't save them. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" My voice echoes through the blazing inferno.

I gasp for air as I sit up and realized it was a nightmare. I looked around and not see any black sand. That is what I was afraid of. It was more than a nightmare, it was memory. The very thing that haunts my every waking moment. I can't help but cry.

Normal POV

The next morning Kai and Gerda were sitting at the table eating eggs, bacon, toast, and sausage for their breakfast menu. Anna walks in the room all dressed up, no doubt heading out for another date with Hans.

"Morning mom. Morning dad." She smiled.

"Good morning, sweetie." Gerda chimed.

"How are you sweet heart?" Kai smiled.

"Great I'm going on another date with Hans today." Anna smiled.

"Ah I see. Well have fun." Gerda said.

"Don't I always?" She giggled. She kissed both her parents. But before she left everyone heard a humming sound. In comes Elsa who is also all dressed up. She was dancing as if something wonderful had just happened. Which it did, it was only last night.

"Morning mom." She kissed Gerda's cheek. "Morning dad." Kissed Kai's cheek. "Morning Anna." She hugged and kissed Anna's cheek. "Well I'm going shopping today. See you later." She skimmed towards the door.

All three stand in awe. "Um… well that was interesting." Kai said.

"Oh no she has it bad." Anna said.

"What?" Kai stared in confusion.

"Oh yes she does have it bad." Gerda said.

"What are you two talking about?" Kai asked.

"Isn't it obvious dad? Elsa is in love." Anna still staring in awe.

"Elsa has found someone." Gerda still staring in awe.

"Elsa in love?" Kai started to panic. "With who?"

Elsa POV

I felt so happy today. I was now shopping for clothes at the Mall. There were so many selections to choose from. I realized that I was in love with Jack Frost and I wanted to look pretty for him. Just thinking about him makes me feel happy. I want a chance to confess to him my feelings. But I wonder does he feel the same way about me.

Jack POV

The vision I had last night really got to me this time. I thought about it. I began to think I wasn't good enough to be a guardian. Besides there was one person on my mind and she is my light. I want to confess to her my feelings. But I wonder does she feel the same way about me. I shrug it off. Maybe she will, maybe she won't, either way I gonna take a chance. I get out my phone and give her a call. After a few rings she answers.

"Hello?"She says.

Hey Elsa it's me Jack." I smile.

"Oh Jack! Hey there, how are you?" someone sounds cheerful.

"I'm doing fine. I actually was wondering if we could meet up at Central Park today." I looked at my clock. 10:05 AM.

"Yeah! I love to. I'll be there." She giggled.

"Great! I see you there, bye." I finish.

"Bye."

I hung up my phone and got dressed. I put on my necklace and become Jackson Overland. I made my decision. I'll do it, I'll tell her.

I make it to Central Park and notice Elsa jogging over to me. She's so beautiful, her smile, her eyes, and even the way she dresses is beautiful.

"Hi, Jack." She smiles.

"Hey." I smile back. "Wow, you look beautiful."

"Oh thank you." She cooed. There was moment of silence.

"Hey Elsa can I say something?"

"Sure Jack." She smiled. "What is it?"

"Well it's kind of embarrassing." I rubbed the back of my neck. She still kept on smiling. "You see I-." But at that moment our attention was instantly turned to the sound of hissing and in broad day light we are approached by the black sand. Damn it! Just when we had out perfect moment!
