Chapter 20: Distance

Elsa POV

I didn't know what Jack wanted to tell me because we were rudely interrupted by the black sand. Urgh! Why is it when we have moment together we're always interrupted?

Well nothing to be done I suppose. This is so annoying. But at least Jack is by my side. I feel more secure knowing he's here with me. The black sand itself takes on the form a… Dragon?

"Stay close to me, Elsa." Jack stood in front of me. I nod and I stayed close behind him.

Jack removed his necklace becoming Jack Frost. He then summoned the wind to bring his staff and it came in no time. Jack readied himself. Neither side was moving. They just stood there watching each other with fierce looks. It was like martial arts anime. My whole body started to tremble with suspense. The wind blew and in an instant they both charged at each other. Jack used his staff to create a wave of ice but the Black Sand Dragon dodges it with ease and swats Jack away with its tail like he was a fly.

"Jack!" I run over to him. I keel down next to him while clutched his chest in pain. "Are you okay!?"

"Damn…" He breathed. "I forgot about what North explained to me yesterday."

"What do mean?"

"North told me that Pitch somehow created dream sand that is an ever evolving force." He explained to me.

"An ever evolving force? What does that mean?" I panicked.

"It means it's like an AI computer. It processes information and learns from it to become smarter and stronger, even after defeat." He breathed hard.

"So you mean… that thing can learn?" I was in wide eyed horror. "How can we defeat it?"

"That I don't know. But I'm not gonna sit here and die." Jack tried to get up but failed. The impact from that dragon's tail really damaged him greatly.

"Jack please let me help you." I begged him.

"Are you sure? Because I will protect you." He looked at me with worry. But then I suddenly hugged him.

"You've protected me long enough." I broke out of the hug. "Let me protect you this time." I smiled at him. I then turned to the black sand dragon. I glared at it and stood up in front of Jack. "You're fighting me now!" I shouted at it.

The dragon snarled at me, glaring his golden eyes at me. I took my position and readied myself. The dragon wasted no time as it went straight for the kill. To defend myself I created a wall of ice the instant the dragon almost made contact. I could see the dragon crash into it hard and splatter in black sand. The black sand quickly recovered and instead clawed the wall rapidly. But forced a push to make the wall smash into the dragon. The wall shattered into pieces while the sand dragon was forced on the ground.

"Beat that!" I breathed heavily.

The dragon immediately got up and charged again. But I launched a wave of ice at in. The dragon kept struggling to kill me but I kept on pushing. Soon the ice wave was starting to work, the dragon slowly being forced back. It tried to revert into sand, probably for another sneak attack. But wasn't gonna take any chances. I intensified the ice and soon the black sand dragon was completely frozen. I stopped to catch my breath.

"I… did it." I breathed. I felt like I was going to faint, but I felt someone catch me. Jack.

"Elsa." He said. "You okay?"

"Y-Yes." I nod. "Just a little tired." Jack then smiled at me.

"You were awesome." He said. I blushed. But then I realized we were close again. This made me blush bright red.

In that moment we started to move our heads slowly towards one another. Then my hearts starts to race. This was it. This is what I was hoping and wanting for to happen. We're gonna kiss.

But before he had a chance Jack stopped a jerked his head and became wide eyed with horror.

"ELSA!" Jack shouted as he pushed me to the ground.

"Hey what gives!" I shouted. But my expression soon changed into horror and sadness from what I saw next. Jack had been stabbed. The creature somehow broke free. Jack then fell on the grass. "J-Jack?" I stammered. "Jack!" I crawled over to him. I held his head on my lap. He was hardly breathing. "Jack stay with me!" I begged.

"E-Elsa…" He breathed.

"I'm here, Jack." I cup my hand on his cheek.

"I… I feel so cold." He whispered. My eyed widened with terror.

"It's okay, Jack. The cold never bothered us anyway, right?" I try to comfort him. "Besides, you're a winter spirit."

"Y-yeah." He breathed. "But I guess I was starting to regain my humanity."

"W-What?" I panicked.

"I'm glad that… you're safe…" He cupped my cheek with his hand. I felt his hand with my hand. It felt warm. But then it slipped out of my hand and on the ground. His eyes then closed I stare in wide eyed horror. Jack was gone.

"J-Jack?" I stammered. "N-No… Jack no." Tears started to roll down my eyes. "No Jack! Jack please!" I shouted.

The black dragon walked over to us. Taunting me. About to kill me. The pain, the sadness, the hate, the rage, it all curdled inside me. With tears rolling down my cheeks I screamed and cried.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

I lost control and caused a whirl wind of ice and snow that engulfed the creature. It cried of pain and anguish. So the blizzard tornado completely destroyed the black sand creature. Good riddance I say. But I was far too sad and depressed at the moment. My attention was still on Jack and his dead body. I cried so much. I had lost my closest, best friend I ever had. I was in love with him and I wanted to tell him. But now I can't.

Suddenly the Guardians came. A little too late. They looked around for a few seconds before noticing me. They run over to me.

"Elsa! Are you okay!? What happened!?" North asked. But then he looks down and sees Jack. "J-Jack! Oh no."

"Oh crikey." Bunny whispers in despair.

"Jack!" Tooth flies over. Seeing him dead made her feel frantically sad. "Oh my poor baby." She cried with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I… I'm sorry." I whispered. "He protected me."

"Elsa. I'm so sorry." North said.

There was a moment of sad silence. But then something happened. My powers suddenly reacted on their own. The others were staring in awe as my powers magically materialized my casual attire into a stunning blue dress. Complete with icy glass slippers and cape. (Sorry folks no 'Let it go' musical scene. Lol.)

"Rimsky Korsakov." North stared in awe.

"Crikey." Bunny the same.

However I wasn't paying attention, I was far too sad and teary eyed to notice. In my sadness a one of my tears falls on Jack's open wound. Then I as if by magic, my magic, a snowflake shape symbol appeared on Jack. I was then in total disbelief awe. Jack's wound was completely healed. I frantically was hoping Jack was okay.

"His pulse is stabled!" North felt his neck.

"Jack?" I frantically said.

"He's still unconscious." North he said. "I know someone who can help." He grabbed Jack's unconscious body and pulled out a snow globe. "Hold tight everyone!"

"Oh crikey! Can't we just take the tunnel?" Bunny complained.

"161 Fort Washington Avenue." He whispered. He throws it and creates a portal. I stare in complete shock. "Come on everyone!"

"Of course we can't." Bunny sighed. We all jumped into the portal.

When we got to the other side we were right in front of a hospital. "You okay Elsa?" Tooth asked with worry.

"Yeah. Just a little dizzy." I felt my head.

"First time using the portal can do that." North explained. "Don't worry you'll get use to it." I wasn't so sure of it as I see Bunny vomiting in a trash can. "Okay everyone put your necklaces on." He ordered.

They all took their necklaces out and changed into human form. Tooth changed into an Isla Fisher look-a-like, Bunny changed into a Huge Jackman look-a-like, and Sandy changed into his Peter Dinklage look-a-like. North put on Jack's necklace.

"Hey Elsa." Tooth walked over. "I know this may not be an appropriate, but I like your new dress." She smiled weakly.

I was confused at first, but then I looked around myself. I was in dress that I never put on or knew I was wearing.

"How did this happen? Where did I get this? Why am I in this?" I frantically asked.

"Elsa calm down." Tooth said. "Let's get Jack to the doctor."

North got out his cell phone and dialed a number. After a few seconds someone answered. "Hello my friend. Look, I have a patient I need you to help." He explained. "Thank you so much my friend. Alright we're coming in." He hangs up his phone. "Come on everyone." And we fallowed.

We entered to the front desk. Bunny rang the bell. "Be right there!" Called a familiar voice and in comes Kristoff. "Hey there. Sorry to keep you wai- Elsa? Hey!" He greeted.

"Kristoff! This is a surprise." I smiled weakly.

"I know it is." He chuckled.

"What are you doing here?"

"I live here. I help my dad with his business."

"Excuse me!" Bunny intervened. "I don't mean to interrupt the happy little union here, but we need to see Doctor Rollingstone immediately!"

"Bunny!" Tooth slapped Bunny's shoulder. "Mind your manners!"

"Is something wron-Jack!" Kristoff noticed. "Oh my gosh! What happened to him!?"

"That's why we're here." North calmly explained. "Can we see Pabbie, right away?"

"No need to call I'm in the other room!" Called a familiar voice. "Come on in!"

"Fallow me." Kristoff said. And we did. I have known Pabbie for a long time, I wonder if he would recognize me. If anyone could help Jack he could. I hope.
