Chapter 21: Distance

Elsa POV

Kristoff lead us to Pabbie's office. North carried Jack in his unconscious state. I'm just glad he's not dead. He almost was. That's good at least. I look and see Pabbie. He still looks same as he was.

"Elsa?" He smiled in surprise. "It's good see you again. My look at you. How've you grown."

"It's good to see you again too." I smiled weakly. We both hugged each other.

"My grandson Kristoff said a lot about you." He said.

"I can only imagine." I sighed. We met at the party so it's no surprise. But then I realized something that was confusing. "Wait, grandson?"

"That's right." He said.

I turn to Kristoff. "But you said he's your father."

"Well technically he's my grandfather. My parents Cliff and Balda Rollingstone are my real parents." Kristoff explained.

"So you were lying this whole time." I rised an eye brow in suspicion.

"Not exactly. You see…" He sighed. "My parents died in a car accident."

"Oh." I was shocked. "I… I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I lived with my grandpa so long I got use to seeing him as my father." He shrugged. I still felt a little bad for being suspicious.

"So anyway." Pabbie turns to North. "How are you my friend? I'm glad you came to visit me."

"I wish it were under different circumstances, though." He presented the unconscious Jack to him.

"So this is Jackson Overland I presume?" He turns to Kristoff.

"Yes. This is my friend."

"North, bring him to the table." He instructed. He turns to the others. "You wait outside in the waiting room." We all did turned towards the door. "Everyone except Elsa." I stopped and turned to him.

"Me?"

"Yes." Everyone was already in the waiting room. "I have a feeling this involves you, am I right?"

I frowned my head down. He wasn't wrong on that. "Y-Yes." I muttered.

"North, Elsa, have a seat." He instructed. We did just that. "Elsa I want you to explain everything to me and North. Take your time. Don't rush yourself." He instructed.

"But what about-"

"Jack Frost will be fine. I'll find a cure don't worry." He assured me.

"Wait a minute. How did you know that-" Before I could ask he showed me his true form. A troll. I stare in wide eyed awe. "Uh… What?" I was speechless and surprised. But then again I've seen fairies and giant bunnies. He reverts back to human form.

"Now please tell us what happened." He instructed.

"Oh, right. Sorry." I cleared my throat. Took a deep breath and sighed slowly. "Okay here's what happened…" I began. I told them about meeting Jack at DsneyWorks college. We became best friends later on. I told him he has two jobs; working at a daycare and working for my father's ice company. I told them how I got him into making new friends with Anna, Kristoff, even that Rapunzel and Flynn at the party. (BTW I'll have them in future chapters) Of course Hans I mentioned but let's face it I still don't know what it is about him that rubs off the wrong way. I explained how I met the Guardians and Jack telling me his story. How we've had few encounters with the Black Sand. The time me and Jack got together to hang out. And how I lost control when I almost lost him.

"… and my powers somehow saved him." I sighed trying to hold back my tears.

"I see." Pabbie pondered. "Thank you Elsa."

"O-Of course." I stammered.

"North could you give us some time? I'll you back in when we're done." He asked.

"Of course." North nodded. He stood up and went to the waiting room.

"Elsa? When you lost control you accidentally made an ice dress." He noticed.

"So… this is made up of my powers?" I was surprised.

"Yes. Can you explain why?"

"I guess I just let go of my feelings." It was the best way I could explain.

"I see. Very good actually." He smiled.

"How is that good? I almost caused a blizzard to engulf all of New York!" I was in a frantic.

"Yes but you didn't. And do you know why?"

"What?"

"You should the answer by now." He smiled.

"I…" I tried to say the answer. But it was hard to find it. But it was there in my heart. "I… I love him."

Pabbie smiled. "Love. It's what melts the coldest of hearts. I'm proud of you Elsa." (P.S. I know the saying from the movie. But I like to paraphrase. Lol)

I smiled. It was true. Ever since I found out he was Jack Frost I slowly started develop feelings for him. "Can you help him?"

"I'll do what I can. First use your powers to change into something else. I don't think you want people staring at you weird like." He giggled.

"Oh right." I giggled. I focused hard enough to change into my usual casual attire. Denim jacket, t-shirt, and jeans. "Thank you Pabbie."

"Any time." He smiled.

I walked outside and decided to call my sister. No doubt she's on her date with Hans. She answers.

"Hello?"Anna says

"Anna, it's me." I said. I still felt worried for Jack. I love him too much to let go of him.

"Hey Elsa, what's wrong you sound worried."

"It's Jack. I'm at the Hospital at 161 Fort Washington Avenue." I explain.

"What!? Okay I'll be right there!"She sounded.

"What about your date?"

"That can wait! My sister comes first at the moment!"She hung up. No doubt she'll be here in no time. I'm so lucky to have a sister like her.

"North, you can come back inside now!" Pabbie called. "Elsa you ready?"

"Yes." I follow North back into his office.

"Okay I just full check up and diagnostics on him. He'll be able to make a full recovery" Pabbie explained.

"That's wonderful!" North cheered.

"Oh Jack." I whispered to myself. I was relieved.

"There is one thing thought." And there it is. Our happy moments were dashed the minute he said that. "I need to confirm that the process I can preform is do able. So I need you, North, to contact Dr. Heart."

"Who's Dr. Heart?" I warily asked.

"He's anther Guardian like us. Cupid." North explained.

"Oh." I was surprised. Maybe the Guardian of Love could help. Yet North looked like he was a shamed to face him.

"V-Very well." North stammered.

Pabbie grabbed the phone and dialed the number. I suddenly see Anna rush in here. She sure got here quick.

"Elsa!" She rushed over and we hugged each other.

"I'm so glad you came." I was relieved.

"How's Jack?" Anna asked.

"Pabbie says he'll make a recovery." I explained.

"Well that's a relief." She sighs. "Wait Pabbie?"

"Yes." I nod.

"Oh my goodness I haven't seen him in years. How is he?" Anna smiled

"He's doing great actually." Kristoff walks up.

"Kristoff, hey." They give each other a friendly hug.

"You won't believe this." I smile. "Can I?" I ask Kristoff.

"Sure." He nods. I explain to Anna what Kristoff told me. About his real parents. Anna was in total shock. She looked like she was on the verge to tears.

"Oh my gosh." She said turning Krostoff. "Kristoff, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay." He sighed. "Just an old memory.

"Elsa. Could you come over here." North asked.

"Sure." I walk over to him. Leaving Anna alone with Kristoff and the rest of the Guardians. Pabbie looked at me.

"I just talked with Heart. North we'll use on of his snow globes to transport him here." Pabbie said.

"Okay." I nod.

North took out of his snow globes, whispers something, and then drops it opening up a portal. Out comes a tall man who actually looks like Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed 2.

"How's Jack?" He asks in an Italian voice. Hell he even sounds like him.

"He should be able to make a full recovery." Pabbie said.

"How did this happen?" Heart said in worry.

"Perhaps she can explain." North gestured me. Heart looked at me and his expression looked like he'd seen a ghost.

"W-What's wrong?" I ask.

"Oh uh…" He snaps back. "Nothing. Just had a revelation of sorts." He extended his hand. "I am Valentine St. Heart. Dr. Heart if you will."

"Elsa Arendelle." I shook his hands.

"I am guessing she is aware of who we are?" Heart asked them. They all nodded. "Right then. Tell me what happened."

I began with meeting Jack at DsneyWorks college. We became best friends later on. I explained how I met the Guardians and Jack telling me his story. How we've had few encounters with the Black Sand. The time me and Jack got together to hang out. And how I lost control when I almost lost him.

When I finished Heart sighed with grief. "I thought this might happen."

"What do mean?" I ask.

"Do you know the reason why he was regaining his humanity?" He asked.

I know that Jack said he was but he never explained why. "No." I answered.

"It's because he's fallen in love with you." He said.

My heart almost stops. "H-He… he has?" I honestly was surprised. I felt happy inside.

"Yes. And I hate to be the barer of bad news, but you cannot socialize with him anymore!" He said sternly.

"What?" I was shocked.

"Heart, please!" North spoke up. "Jack will make a full recovery. How can you say such a thing?"

"Because it is dangerous for Guardians to develop romantic feelings for humans!" Heart raised his voice. "Ever since Nightlight sacrificed his life for Katherine, I've grown the fear of losing another Guardian!"

"Katherine was a Guardian!" North protested.

"A human!" Heart countered. "Because he didn't think about the consequences of his action he aged and died! Like Katherine did! I don't know what Manny was thinking leaving him and her mortal but I should know that the idea of having mortal Guardian only for them just to die makes me sad and sick to my stomach!"

"Where is this coming from!?" North frantically asked.

"We almost lost Sandy that day!"

"Sandy came back because the children believed!" North reminded him.

"But what if the same thing happens again and none of us come back!? Huh?" Heart bitterly countered. "What if there are no believers left to protect the world from Pitch!? What will we do then!? Huh, North!? You tell me!"

North was completely baffled by this. He didn't know what to say. Watching these two argue scares me.

"We have to do it!" Heart sighed.

"Do what?" I asked still scared.

"Pabbie. Erase the memory of his romantic feelings." He said. My eyes widen with shock.

"What!? No you can't!" I rush over and shield Jack's unconscious body. "Please don't erase his memory!? I love him to much to let go!" Tears form around my cheeks.

"Miss Arendelle, it has to be done." He sternly instructed. "Jack's life will be at risk again if we don't do it."

"No, please." I begged while crying. Everyone who heard the conversation raced to the door watching in horror. "Don't take away his feelings." Anna watched with sadness. The Guardians too.

"Guardians who develop romantic feelings for humans is strictly forbidden!" He sternly announced.

"And who made up that rule? Manny or You?" North bitterly spoke. Heart didn't answer but instead took out a heart shaped jar.

"Once we erase the memory of his feeling from his mind it was be placed in this jar." Heart explained. "I will study it for future medicines."

North and the rest of the guardians try to protest but they couldn't think of the proper words. The choice was clear yet impossible to make. Either keep the feeling only to risk Jack life when he becomes mortal or take them away to preserve his life.

"Began the procedure." Heart ordered.

"Heart please-" Pabbie tried to reason.

"I said do it!" Heart frantically ordered. Pabbie frowned and sighed.

"Very well." He sadly said.

"No…" I muttered in sadness. Tears rolling down my face. I felt powerless to do anything. I had the power to freeze them and take Jack with me. But he would still be unconscious, besides I'm not that cold hearted.

"Don't worry." Pabbie assured me. "I'll will keep the good times you had with him."

Pabbie did his magic. It was done. Jack was recovering and would be alive and well. But the boy I fell on love with would never come back. I felt my heart sink like a rock. All I could do is cry.

I waited outside for anything that could happen. Anna stayed with me with her arm wrapped around me and snuggled close. This was the worse day of my life. Me and Jack realized that we we're both in love with each other and now that chance is taken away.

North then step out, frustrated and angry. Heart followed looking sad but relieved. He came over to me.

"You can still be his friend and talk to him." He said to me. My eyes widened. "But don't ever develop any romantic feelings towards him. Enough Guardian lives have been lost enough." He sternly said.

North in his anger, through a snow globe making a portal. Luckily Kristoff had to help out with some patience up stares so he wouldn't freak out. Heart was about to step through.

"It's for the best, North." He smiled sincerely. But North was too angry to accept it.

"Go!" He hissed. It was clear he didn't want to talk to Heart. Heart then made his sad face and walked away. Their friendship had been crippled. Once it was gone North went back inside the office pounding his feet. He came out his Jack, who was sleeping peacefully. He takes out a snow globe and throws it. He turns to me with sadness in his eyes.

"I am so sorry Elsa." He stammered. A single tear rolled down his eyes.

Tooth came to me and held my hands in hers. "You are always welcome to our home." She said sincerely.

"Hope you feel better shela." Bunny patted my back.

"See you on Wednesday. I'll have a special treat just for you to make you feel better." Sandy said.

They all went through the portal leaving me and Anna alone together in the waiting room.

"Oh Elsa, I'm so sorry." Anna hugged me tight.

I sank into the floor crying. I just couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I lost the only boy I fell in love with. Now how am I supposed to go on?
