Part Thirty-Three

"I'll walk Eve to her car tonight."

The words, really, weren't surprising. It had become a usual thing for a member of the Shield to walk her to and from her car at the shows... Even though she'd only managed them for a week of shows - RAW, SmackDown, and now the live events - it had become almost typical for the diva. It would almost be weird now to find herself walking the halls of the arena without one of the men. She couldn't say she was surprised by who had decided to walk her to her car tonight, either... Dean Ambrose, the same man that had met her at her car tonight. The same man that had walked her to her car after SmackDown on Friday night and ended up challenging Zack Ryder to a match on RAW when the other man couldn't keep his mouth shut about her.

Reigns shot a look at Rollins, the big man then nodding. "Of course," he said. "We'll meet you at our car," Reigns told Ambrose, then looked at Eve. "See you tomorrow?"

"I'll be there," the woman replied, reaching for her things... Or at least her title belt. As per usual, the man that walked her to her car was also carrying her bags. She'd vaguely considered digging out her old luggage from college - which had been a gift from her grandmother and was a horrible shade of pink - just to see how they'd react to carrying that through the halls... But somehow, she didn't think any of them would really give a damn.

Giving the others a quick wave, Eve headed out into the hallway with Ambrose, the man matching his pace to hers, his gaze darting around the hall as they walked... He looked almost like he expected an ambush of some sort. Of course, while she'd been cleaning up and changing out of her gear after her match, it was pretty likely that Roman had been telling Seth and Dean about the way Zack Ryder had been hanging around after the divas' tag match... Likely to try and get another shot at convincing her to get Dean to cancel the match.

"How's your arm?" Dean asked after a moment, and Eve flicked a look his way.

"It's fine. It's just a bruise. It's not a big deal. I've gotten hurt worse in the ring."

"But that was in the ring," Ambrose said, his tone mild, though a quick look at him told her that his expression really wasn't. He was obviously not pleased about what had happened the night before. "You can't compare an injury in the ring to the shit that Zack Ryder pulled last night."

"I left a bruise on him, too."

"Yeah, that's what Roman said. He said it looked like you just missed giving Ryder a black eye," the man said, pushing open the door to the parking garage... Holding it open so that Eve could exit first. Once again, his gaze seemed to be darting everywhere at once, like he expected someone to come out of the shadows and attack. And maybe he did. He seemed a bit like the type that could get a little paranoid, and the Shield did have some enemies.

And Zack Ryder had basically attacked her last night. Okay, yeah, he hadn't hit her, but he'd grabbed her and refused to let her go, and when he'd grabbed her he'd shoved her against the wall... And she couldn't know for sure what he would have done if she *hadn't* fought back. Or if Kaitlyn and Daniel Bryan hadn't shown up.

"Well, I guess I'll just have to work on my aim for next time," Eve said, making her way to her rental car, Ambrose walking alongside her, the man shaking his head at something. Arching a brow, she looked over at him. "What is it?"

"I don't like what happened last night."

"And you think I do?"

"I never said that. Don't put words in my mouth," Ambrose told her, the man starting to load her things in the trunk of the car for her. Once he had her stuff inside, he turned, taking the divas' title belt from her shoulder, then put it in the trunk as well. Turning, he looked at Eve. "He probably scared you last night. You were at the hotel, doing whatever, and some guy came up and grabbed you, and I'm pretty sure we both agree that is not okay. And if Zack Ryder thinks it's okay, then he's got a few screws loose."

"He's desperate. He knows that if he steps in that ring against you tomorrow night, it won't be good for him."

"Then maybe he's not as dumb as he looks," the man replied, his lips curving into something of a smirk for a brief moment, but then he shook his head. "I don't like this."

Eve arched a brow, meeting his eyes. "Excuse me?"

"I don't like the idea that some jackass might take a problem at the shows back to the hotel with him... And come after you because he knows it's a way to get to us."

"Zack just wants the match cancelled, and he's not going to get what he wants. He tries anything again, and he's getting a kick in the balls just like he did at WrestleMania last year. Trust me... I'm not afraid of him."

"He tracked you down at the hotel, probably waiting for you, and he was waiting for you again tonight after your match. The only reason he didn't approach you was because Roman was there. He's like a damn stalker."

"You think I haven't noticed that? This isn't the first time I've dealt with him. I had to go full-on bitch and finally had to humiliate him at WrestleMania to get him to stop hounding me," she said, then arched a brow at Dean's look. "What? You think I didn't plan some of the stuff that happened last year? I wasn't interested in Ryder and wanted him off my back, and being associated with Cena led to me being a target for Kane. So I did what I had to do, even at the cost of my pride."

"Yeah, well, things have changed now. Because you're not alone, and I'm thinking that if some scary asshole comes after you like Kane did last year... The Shield will do a better job of getting the guy to back off than Cena and Ryder did. But the thing is, Eve... If someone like Ryder is starting to come after you at your hotel..." He shook his head, then shrugged. "Maybe you should just start traveling with us."

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. It's cheaper... All of us in one car instead of us in one and you in another. One rental car, less gas... Make sure we're all booked at the same hotel so we're nearby. It's the smart thing to do, Eve. Especially if this whole thing with you being our manager is going to stick," he said, his eyes on hers, and Eve pressed her lips together, then heaved out a sigh.

"I'll think about it."

"Don't think too long. Because Ryder might be the first asshole to come after you, but I doubt he'll be the last."
